Hello!

Pleased to meet you, Stranger!

My name is Cyrene, but there is an option on calling me Cy.

I am not entirely new to of RoleplayerGuild since this is technically my second account. I used to be an active member many years ago when I had access to the first one. However, due to certain circumstances that occurred in my life around that time, I had to go on a hiatus.

My experience as a roleplayer has stretched on for seven years—and still counting. I don’t exactly remember who introduced it to me, or how it really started, but I can say I am happy that person introduced me to such a creative environment. Throughout those many years, my writing now compared to then has improved drastically. I used to be the type of roleplayer that would do, at most, a single, complete sentence. Now, I can go as far as make a post with a large amount of detail. The record for the longest post I made throughout my entire roleplaying history was one that filled up seven pages in Word. You can say I am rather proud of that, but still am always welcome for new improvements in my grammar and creativity skills.

Preferences

Despite previously mentioned, I prefer to match the lengths of my posts with my partner(s). I am not entirely tied down to any specific genres, so I am generally rather adaptable. I don't do fandoms, though. I like creating a plot and starting off from there. I am more used to doing 1x1 as of now since I had a schedule that would most likely have made it difficult to keep up with one filled with more than one individual. However, now that I have a lot of free time during this crisis, I am not against the challenge of going back to doing group roleplays. The challenge would be getting used to it after so long.

A Few Things About Me

- I watch more YouTube videos than normal shows/movies.
- I prefer hot pockets than ramen noodles.
- I can’t eat chicken nuggets if they aren’t dinosaur shaped.
- I used all this format coding to test it out.

I look forward to continuing my journey here with a blank slate!

Arena Chat Thread

So it seems we COULD reset the season, but it involves wiping the winner/points from each match thread, so that the leaderboard goes back to nil. Labor intensive but a work around for a system designed for only Mahz to be able to easily reset it.

If there's interest for that let me know.

I might as well hop in since things have begun to calm down.

What is, in your opinion, something that you are proud to have achieved since becoming a moderator on here? Is there any specific personal goal(s) that you're working towards yourself as a Roleplayer or otherwise (aside from dealing with the public heat)? Directed towards Ruby per rules, but I am interested in hearing what other Staff might have to say about it as well.

Took me a long time to get that PW up and ready. It failed but I absolutely tried.

The Discord server.

Moat of all outside of helping people and working out issues with members, which I already gave as answers, opening up modship to anyone who had interest. Making it more inclusive. That I'm super proud of. I think over time that will have a big impact.

Arena judge

Some time ago I vs'd Shadow Dragon in the arena and never got a Judge for it. I was told by Doc... Doctor that they'd Judge for me. I've returned from editing a roleplay fandom and they never have, and on top of that I left a visitor message that I'd like them to do so again- but they just visited my page like I left the door open.

My question is before I begin asking any other arena player: You got a Judge? I'd like my first match not to be missed and lost.

I don't mean to sound blunt. It's just a real question.

Okay. So if you want one of us can judge it but iirc it takes both fighters to agree on the judge. Or anyone can judge it if y'all agree and I can make sure it's documented for you.

I do miss RPing. A lot. New Mods like Legend allow me to step back and just be around for escalated issues. After the new Mod that we get hopefully that will help more. My RP partners are insanely patient. And shutout to BlueSky44 for letting me hang in their OOC until life made it impossible for me to join.

Also dice in games terrifies me. Go figure.

You mentioned how sometimes you just want to be able to RP again - if you had to do it over, would you make the same choice to jump on staff or was Guild life more enjoyable as a member without obligations, expectations and the spotlight?

Um. I don't know. I know the criticisms about me as a site staffer but I do try. Really hard. Probably too hard. But I love that anyone can talk to me. I love that I can give people second chances. I love that people will give me second chances.

So in total...I have no idea. lol Probably.

Hey, @Ruby, I know you get a lot of public heat and stuff, and that could scare off a lot of people from wanting to be mods themselves. It kinda lead me to wonder: what's your favorite thing about being a mod? (I know the rules say to address only you, but I'd be interested to hear responses from any mod that wants to share, honestly.)

They're free to share or post here. I just don't want escalations, hence me cutting off j8cob yesterday. (Although he and I continued in DMs for an hour and a half or so yesterday. Glad he continued that.)

For me? Helping a member, long time members I don't know, new members. I love getting to help them. I was that person once. Approaching site staff can be scary and it's great to be able to interact and help out people I'd never get a chance to meet otherwise.

But also actually moving past criticism with members and working those out together on some level. That's just as nice. Lots of miscommunication because of the way something is worded, "tones." Like we posted to staff a reminder to issue those warnings, provide those ban lengths immediately if possible, log everything. Chaos plus bad habits we fall into creates some really bad perceptions. So it's nice to talk things out with those members and come to some kind of understanding.

If y'all need it: clearly site staff can rank matches and award a winner. I definitely can't judge fights and no one should seriously want me to but I'm happy to update a match thread if needed. If not me ask any site mod or admin.
