Arc 1

Prelude of Light

The human world has enjoyed a peaceful dozen years since the Qliphoth Incident, yet unbeknownst to those above, the Underworld has been rather busy for the last few years. The first hint of a coming storm occurs in the city of Camlann, as demons seem to be bubbling below the surface, ready to burst at the seams.

The Drowned Dragon's Inn

@Jollan@13org

"Edge?! HAH! If just a few were enough I'd be home passed out in my bed already, waiting for tomorrow. Christ, what's it to you...", the old man turned to the one who seems to have joined him for a drink. Despite the drunken flush in his cheeks, his eyes were still sharp. His features were rough, a sharp and short beard that lined his jaw, along with a short matching mustache.

"Heeehhhh, from Escain huh? No guns like that around here, you'd need to special order those", the old man took another swig.

"It ain't about the 'good fight', I guess a foreigner wouldn't have heard. A bit hush-hush. Damn princeling's a slob is what! And now those Guard want to keep supporting him. Yeah good luck supporting someone who won't even get off his damn arse", there was a fair amount of frustration expressed in his voice, but there seemed to be some semblance of information regarding the political situation in Raelin. The country is run by a monarchy, with a council. Ultimately the Emperor is able to order or bring about change as they please, although a council was made to handle civil matters. However, the two are meant to keep one another in check... The problem became a bit more obvious, after learning this.

"But enough about that! Come on huh?! Let's see how much you can pack away!", the bartender then retorted as he handed the old man yet another flagon.

"Enough, don't drag the good man into being silly drunk in broad daylight. Should know better than that Colonel", so this man was... Decently influential.

"Oh shaddup! You killjoy!", now could be a good time to stop or... Drink? Probably.

The Academy of Valennia

@Seirei No Hai

"Remarkable... A bandersnatch you say?", the professor that beheld the young mage's peculiar gem held it up against the light, he pulsed mana through his fingers occasionally, and in response the gem would flare up with heat and light. It's conversion rate for mana to fire was absurdly fast. So it seems he's found it's property already. This was professor Rolan, head professor of the artifacts department. He studied the gem carefully... He seemed to grab a book from the shelf and flip through it awhile, before he spoke again.

"Hmmmmm... This is a ritual gem...", he finally said. A rather direct answer.

"But... Where did you get this? When the use of dogma was outlawed, so too were rituals to call upon gods. These gems would be the catalyst to summon them. In this case... This gem has such a powerful fire, it is most absolutely related to Ifrit", he explained. The old man's eyes were sagging, it was hard to see his wrinkled squint as he examined the gem as he talked. He stood up once more, his long robes flowing behind him as he walked back over to Eawyn, handing it back to her.

"There's a lot that can be done with it, but you would need to ask a summoner about that. They are gems, so they can be turned into trinkets, or inscribed into weapons, for that you may need a blacksmith too. Or... You can find a buyer on the black market and sell it for a fortune too. A charged one like this would go for a large house", he explained. He smiled to her as he finished, "but I trust you won't do something so irresponsible now would you?" The professor then headed back to his desk and sat down.

"As a result, it is actually quite valueable. Do be wary on who you show it to", his advice came out rather serious. Still, it was not unreasonable, cults still exist for various gods, both malevolent and benevolent, though it was not the god that was the problem, but the lengths people would go to in order to serve their object of worship. Still, this left Eawyn with a fair few options... These were rare too, so she couldn't expect to just find another unless she really went looking. She can keep it this way to augment her spells, or maybe do something more with it.

The Royal Garnet

@Hero

The young songstress caught the gaze of men as she waltzed through the establishment. The red and gold decor with finely carved wooden railings and pillars, amidst a variety of flags along the rafters representing some visiting nobles, against this, the stark and almost pure white Aria stood out far more than others. As she approached the front desk, the receptionist seemed to have been staring at her for a good solid minute, wondering if she was here for this or... Just visiting? In any case, as soon as her body language made it clear, the receptionist inquired to the possible customer,

"H-hello, ma'am. Is there anything I can help you with? Perhaps you would like a room? Or access to our buffet? We are serving specialities from Frinia today, if you are interested". The receptionist was a young man, well-dressed and polite, he stood there, awaiting a response.
@Nightwing95 Mordred is largely a lone wolf, especially for the first arc of the RP, which will focus on mainly the players which is you guys, and establish the conflict between Arthur and Mordred.

Lancelot will appear in a future conflict, along with Guinevere, and even further along will be Galahad.

If you are interested in joining we can discuss it on the discord.

More may be discussed on the discord. DMC5 itself is a week off, so the time is near. discord.gg/KhkrDYJ
I'll probably just make a character sheet soon then. As fr as systems go there'll be a style system naturally. As for the rewards for scoring high, I'm not decided yet.

I do know how it goes though, it's based on the DMC5 scoring system which you can see if you play the demo. You'll basically get points for doing stuff. Taunts, using certain weapons to a certain degree, killing in certain ways, putting yourself under certain conditions, etc. As a result, there won't really be a limit on how much style you can rack up per mission. That's kind of why I need to figure out the rewards for good style, since there's no limit, there's no way to really balance making it come out to currency.

Maybe if you reach a certain amount of style, certain events may occur, or something else. There's also whether or not I want to add any kind of progression like leveling your styles.
Well while we wait, I've chosen this song to be the theme for the RP.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=pcSjLP0erjQ

Naturally we'll use some regular rock for in-RP themes, but this one kind of encapsulates what I'm making.

EDIT: Well at least the song does. This is the same band that did Mad Qualia, the trailer theme for DMC5 in Japan.

While we wait, I would like to know what kind of characters you want to make, or what you want to be doing in the RP.
Well, while we wait for DMC5 to come out in 2 weeks, I'd like to start going through some ideas for the mythos we'll be using as the foundation for the RP's events.

The main one I'm building off of is "The Knight of Vengeance".

Simply put, there was once a Holy Kingdom, prosperous and fair they had a strong reign somewhere in Europe. One day however, it's knights all turned to demonic arts, and within a few days it was overrun with demons. Only one of those knights however, did not join his colleagues. He was just a mere human, and was simply killed. However a demon approached him in his final moments, and offered power, to which he accepted. Now reborn as a demonic knight much like his colleagues, he was now on even ground. One by one he slew his former comrades, before disappearing into history. The kingdom itself, the Kingdom of Radia faded into obscurity, the land it once occupied now empty and seemingly untouched.

If we go with this, the plot will revolve around two demon hunters, one former and one continuing. Mordred, and Arthur. Mordred is a human demon hunter, while Arthur is a half demon.

The two were sent out to investigate a phenomenon, and stumbled into the Holy Kingdom of Radia itself. Mordred was killed, while Arthur accepted his birthright as the descendant of a demon king. After some events in the Holy Kingdom, Arthur disappears with the demon Merlin into the underworld, while Mordred heads back to his home.

Predictably, Mordred has inherited the sword of the Knight of Vengeance, Lazarus, while Arthur retrieves the sword representing his birthright, the Calibur.

The RP's events will begin roughly 1-2 years after this, when Arthur attacks the city Mordred lives in. For what reason? Well, I'll share that in the RP itself.

From here the intention is you can either be a demon hunter or some other, or even be one of Arthur's demonic knights. Other than Lancelot, Galahad, and Guinevere, you may also make a character whose name coincides with members of the Round Table, although preferrably, they would also be a demon or at least half demon, and side with Arthur.

Yeah I have a lot I've figured out already, but it is possible for me to make something entirely new a bit later, so I haven't committed fully just yet.
Yes, and no. I'll keep the details vague. Say someone dies in DMC5, that won't be mentioned. What's more important is the state of the world after DMC5. The events of DMC5 itself though will definitely have an impact on the RP premise. It's stated that the thing happening in the city of Redgrave with the demon attacks isn't just that city, but also happening the world over, so it definitely will have an impact.

That being said, the timeline will be something like 15 years after DMC5 (no actual number decided yet), so there'll still be plenty of room to get creative.
It's not necessary to play the RP, it's just necessary for me to write the RP premise. I stand by having the events of the RP take place away from the main game, but I don't plan on it being inconsequential to the world. For example there are things like the status of King of Hell that I'll need.
A decent start.

For those interested I'd like to know what it is you want out of it. Right now my idea is we'd basically make a new mythos and we play on that, so I'm unsure if to run a proper "hero" and "villain" character or let players try and fill those in part. I could do a mix of that and players can choose to join one or the other or act on their own.
