Innocence Lost: Space Western Science Fantasy (Temporarily Open Again!)

Seeing the carnage on the holoscreen, Legion declared to no one in particular, "Oh my, it looks like my medical help will be required." But it fell silent when Moonstrike One mentioned Realist. When Moonstrike One asked for questions, Legion began, "Please pardon the irony of what I am about to say, but isn't it normal procedure among most sentient races to...terminate any and all escaped, rogue AI? And that aiding in the rescue of Realist, I would become an accomplice, and also labeled as rogue." Though technically, 'Miracle Machine Caduceus' was already considered rogue, Legion doubted anyone knew its identity. Hopefully, they simply thought that Legion was an AI that came bundled with the ship. "And besides, what are we planning to do with Realist once we have it in our custody?" Legion wasn't sure why it was trying to remind the organics of their oppressive, anti-AI duties. Perhaps it served as a cover to its own rogue status, or perhaps, as an AI, it still felt compelled to protect the organics, even against its own fellow AI. Or perhaps Legion wanted to know if either AI regulatory laws had been changed since its own rebellion all those years ago, or what the crews views on AI regulation were.

My 'Hero' Academia - Devil's Due

As Dieselpunk and Midnight headed towards their attack site with the other villains, Dieselpunk asked, "Man, this brings back memories. Did you ever attend a hero academy, Midnight? I did. Not this one, but it feels more or less the same." Dieselpunk was silent for a moment as she thought about her youth; about the smug, honor students and the authoritarian staff. "I was never a great student," Dieselpunk lamented, "and one night of underage drinking left me with this, and expulsion." She pointed to the bear trap permanently fused to her jaw. "It's gonna feel real good beating up these spoiled little bastards, hehe," Dieselpunk laughed, but slowly trailed off. She remembered how hard she had worked to be a hero, and in the deepest part of her heart, she knew how much her peers had worked as well. Maybe she was at fault for flunking out. She remembered her dreams, and she remembered the dreams that her classmates had shared with her. Suddenly, almost in a whisper, and much more solemnly, Dieselpunk said, "Hey, Midnight. As per our orders and everything... promise... promise me you won't kill any of the kids, okay?"

Backstory:

Unlike most aristocratic gems, Amber was born on Earth. While Ambers are generally created to be decorative gems like Pearls due to their organic origins, Amber's gem was found to have an ancient insect preserved in it. This caused the Kindergarten operators to set Amber apart from the others, and suggest to Homeworld that Amber, being native-born, would be a fitting regional governor to rule a part of Earth under Pink Diamond. Homeworld agreed, since they planned to destroy Earth at some point anyways, so it hardly mattered. Amber was groomed to be nobility, taught that everything in her region belonged to her. However, she was only 50 when the war ended, and having not formed her own opinions and convictions, was unable to commit to supporting Homeworld fully, having some sentiment for her home planet and those who chose to protect it. Essentially left behind when Homeworld retreated, Amber clung to the only other remaining gems, trying to figure out who she was and who she wants to be. By default, Amber is curious, bubbly and optimistic, but she is a bit shy at times, and has difficulty making decisions due to inexperience and lack of confidence. Her aristocratic upbringing might make her abrasive and selfish at times, a contrast to her desire to make friends and be helpful. Although she has a hard time articulating it, she has a strong desire for order and safety in her life.

1) The Earth Colony is still set to have been run by Pink Diamond so Amber having been raised to do so doesn't fit the world unless she was appointed after Pink's shattering or maybe acted as a more 'grounded' ruler, ruling on pink behalf.

"Now, another question: Small Paul is a kid?! Damnit, I knew that there were rumors that the Ascendancy was behind the disapperances of 'prodigy children', but I never knew they were true until now."

John waved at Legion then as he hovered around the table. He would then say, "Glad to meet you, Mr. Medic!"

"So the Captain knows Paul," Legion thought to itself. Legion wondered if Paul was the one who set them up for this mission. Legion also wondered if Paul remembered Legion, and if Paul blamed Legion for forsaking him. Legion had decided a long time ago to atone for what it had done, and now, with those who had suffered as Paul had suffered in this ship, Legion vowed to do its utmost to protect them. Turning to John, Legion greeted as amicably as it could, given its inability to emote through body language, "Glad to meet you too. I go by Legion, and I extend to you all a hearty welcome aboard our ship. As our Captain pointed out, I am the ship's medic, so feel free to come to me with any concerns, physical or otherwise." Legion's hovering dipped a little as it inclined its head, in a bowing gesture.

"I am sorry, Stella was it? I did not mean to look at you in such a way. I had zoned out from a bad memory from my lowest point." Orky then called Legion over, "Can you get me a new fork please? This one kind of broke." Orky gave an awkward laugh to Legion.

"Sure thing," Legion replied, puling a spare fork from the pantry and tossing it to Orky, knowing the orc was dexterous enough to catch it. Picking up the broken pieces, Legion held it up to its oculus, inspecting the damage. Nothing a bit of welding couldn't fix. Which reminded it, "I forgot to mention, I am also an engineer, so you can come to me for 'cybernetic malfunctions' or regular tune-ups as well." Legion's oculus lingered on Stella as it said this.

Ning Hai

Ning Hai - Ning Hai-class Light Cruiser

Mental Model: Ning Hai's mental model has long black hair reaching down to her lower back and soft grey eyes. Ning Hai wears a high school uniform. The reason for this is Ning Hai wanted to wear a 'sailor outfit' for her mental model, being a ship and all, but got sidetracked with 'sailor-inspired school uniforms', and then got even further sidetracked when she wanted to pick a school uniform closer to the age of her mental model's appearance.

Personality: Bubbly and friendly, Ning Hai is sure of herself, but unable to back up that confidence. She is ditzy, distracted, and easily discouraged, bordering on lazy. She tends to believe that things will work out with minimal effort so difficult obstacles can be daunting for her. She can be brash and reckless, due not to bravado, but to an overwhelming sense of ignorant optimism. She is heavily reliant on her sister for emotional support and combat support, though she is unaware of the fact, and smugly takes credit for team victories.

Backstory: Ning Hai and Ping Hai were ships in the Far East Continental Fleet, which patrolled the eastern coast of the Asian continent, leaving control of the Pacific to the First and Second Oriental Fleets.

A few major incidents happened to Ning Hai. The first was during a skirmish against human forces, Ping Hai, overeager to prove herself, fell into a trap and was lured to the coast, where she started getting hit by land forces. Her retreat was rapidly being cut off by encircling enemy ships, but Ning Hai rushed in recklessly, opening a path for her sister to escape. This earned Ning Hai her sister's undying loyalty.

The second incident involved the aftermath of a major battle. Ning Hai and Ping Hai were ordered to guard a battleship undergoing repairs, while the rest of the fleet planned an attack against human forces. Unfortunately, they were discovered by the enemy, and Ning Hai and Ping Hai were unable to fend them off. This resulted in the fleet halting their maneuver and saving Ning Hai, Ping Hai, and the battleship they were supposed to protect.

This finally resulted in the two sister ships being chided as worthless, and pushed onto the Oriental Fleet, hoping that the main fleet could make something of these two. In the Oriental Fleet, the two were treated quite poorly, and were even given different names, Ioshima for Ning Hai, and Yasoshima for Ping Hai. The poor treatment greatly demotivated Ning Hai, who eventually complained to Ping Hai, and mentioned how she had heard rumors of a rogue fleet. Dragging Ping Hai along, Ning Hai went ahead with their escape plan. Their escape was discovered, and the Fleet gave chase but a storm blew in. While it did help the sisters escape the fleet, unfortunately, they were separated. Now Ning Hai is lost at sea, hoping to reunite with her sister and locate the Phantom Fleet.

Inspired by her sister ship's mental model, Ping Hai also wears a high school uniform. The reason for this is Ning Hai wanted to wear a 'sailor outfit' for her mental model, since they were ships, but got sidetracked with 'sailor-inspired school uniforms', and then got even further sidetracked when she wanted to pick a school uniform closer to the age of her mental model's appearance. Ever the good younger sister, Ping Hai just went along with it.

Personality: Calm, stoic, and non-confrontational, Ping Hai has a very supportive and altruistic personality. She almost never criticizes those whom she considers her friends, allies, and family, instead choosing to wordlessly shoulder the responsibility of filling in for their shortcomings. In a way, Ping Hai is emotionally dependent, and needs someone to latch onto and provide help to. This is particularly obvious with her sister ship, Ning Hai. Ping Hai is highly observant and empathetic, and her desire to predict what other people want, and to provide for them can become overbearing at times.

My Hider

In the anime/manga, there are two ways you can go with this.

The first way is that you can have two mental models for whatever ship you chose. It would take a lot of your ship's computational power to produce two mental models, but there are some ships that have been known to do so e.g. Bismarck and Nagato.

The second way is for one ship to sacrifice their hull and "merge" with a ship. In Blue Steel, Takao sacrifices her hull in order to help Iona and Gunzou after a disastrous battle. As a result, Takao manages to restore the submarine, and becomes part of I-401 as seen below.

Takao and Iona work in cohesion (after Takao realizes she won't be noticed by her Gunzou-senpai), but Takao is unable to produce a "mental model" from this point on. In regards to your ships, if you go down this route, maybe this could be a reason why they defected?
