Vivian & Sylvia Altissima

"It's fine, Vivian. It's fine. Well, as you guys know I don't come from this world. I'm looking for a way home. I've heard that Dark Priests are servants of the Fallen God. Now I don't care much about who the Fallen God is and what she wants do, only that she's someone who is in another dimension. Pandemonium, I believe. Maybe she or her followers know something about other dimensions. Other worlds. Maybe ways to cross them. That would definitely get me home. But it's a longshot, I admit. Could be a dead end. Do you think... do you think it's possible? Do you think I could actually... go home?"
Neil

"D-don't you like it here?" Sylvia asked in a slightly injured voice; her relief that Neil's question to Sister Riñas was genuine and not just an excuse to hang out with her because he was interested in her was overridden by her worrythat Neil was trying to leave, but her statement elicited a punch from Vivian.

"It's not about whether he likes it or not," Vivian corrected, "Imagine if we couldn't visit Mom or Dad again."

"Y-you're right, I was being...foolish," Sylvia apologized, deflated.

"But Sylvia does have a point," Vivian continued, "Traveling between worlds just sounds downright dangerous, and the more desperate you are, the more likely you'll choose a dangerous option, so we'll take it upon ourselves to help you in any way we can to ensure that if you do find a way home, that it is a safe choice."

At this Sylvia perked up, "Th-that's right! You don't have to do this alone. And I'm curious to learn about the different worlds and how to travel between them."

While the sisters helped Riñas and Neil, they barely spoke to each other, though every time Riñas and Neil were together Sylvia would pay them extra attention, and Vivian would roll her eyes in exasperation.

"Hey uhh, I know that you wanted to come to join the cooking contest so uhh, I'll try to make it up to you, alright? Ehehe, sorry."

"So why did you really want to come with me? I doubt you have any questions for Riñas. Err, do you?"
Neil

Though Vivian looked pissed, it wasn't Neil she was angry at, and his offer helped to quell some of her rage. Softening, she said, "I really appreciate the gesture, but you're not the one who should be apologizing."

Sylvia shot her sister an unfriendly glance, before replying to Neil's question, "Oh, umm, I just figured that the responsible thing to do was to help, since Sister Riñas seemed so understaffed. If anything, I was more curious what your question was."

"Really, Sylvia?" Vivian asked sarcastically.

"Wh-what?" Sylvia rubbed the back of her neck, trying to play innocent.

Vivian let out a noisy exhale, "Fine! Let's be nosy and find out what Neil wants to ask!"
I also wanted to apologize for the delay. I started a new job this week, and have been busy. Hopefully things will stabilize and I can get a post up.
@Rockin Strings It dead. Memento mori.

"Speaking of undead, were you the ones that abandoned that horde of Zombies near Pravar?" The Ortusian knight asked. "They could've been slaughtered had the Order spotted them. I had to lead them to the safety of the mountains, delaying my arrival here."
Sir Reed

"We hadn't thought of that," Sylvia said somewhat apologetically, "We were somewhat in danger ourselves. But it's good to know that you're someone who is capable at handling a horde of zombies. This was essentially the sisters' approval of Reed joining the guild, since it didn't seem that anyone else had any objections.

The trek to Boreal Port would have been too much for the sisters to travel to normally, but fortunately they had their wheeled cart, and plenty of gracious friends willing to help push them along. The sisters were pleased to make the acquaintance of the Dark Priest, but Vivian perked up at the mention of a cooking competition. But when Neil grabbed Riñas' hand, Sylvia stifled a gasp, and when he offered to help the Dark Priest, Sylvia blurted out, "We can help too!"

"Sylvia! But the cooking contest!" Vivian whined.

"I-I mean, as new members of the Guild, we have yet to prove our usefulness. Rather than be selfish and have fun, we should help out as much as we can," Sylvia said, trying to cover her actual reason.

"We all came to have fun, Sylvia! If Neil wants to work, that's on him."

"Wh-what if I want to work?"

"COOKING! CONTEST!" Vivian demanded. Vines on the respective sides of their pot raised up menacingly as the sisters squared off.

"FINE!" The sisters raised their fists, "ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!"

"DAMMIT!" Vivian yelled, curling and uncurling her fists in rage and defeat.

"YES!" Sylvia pumped her arm in victory, then cleared her throat to try to regain some composure. "Ahem, Sister Chavez? WE would also like to help out with the festival logistics."

"I am Sir Reed of Thrakan, a village in Ortus. I am a humble knight on a... journey of enlightenment. I am not here for a request. I am here to join the Guild, in the hopes that I might find... enlightenment here. And to contribute something to the world at large, even if it is small. Sooo, how do I register? Ah, before I forget. May you grace me your names, miladies?"
Sir Reed of Thrakan

"A pleasure, Sir Reed. I'm Sylvia, and this is my sister, Vivian," Sylvia introduced herself.

"Enlightenment, you say?" Vivian asked, somewhat skeptically. Her first thoughts were of Yang, their resident monk, and luckily, said individual approached soon, but before Vivian could let Reed know to seek Yang's advice concerning his quest, Vivian saw Yang become...defensive? Yang sent Kira to get Bart, so Vivian decided to make small talk, "So, what's new in Ortus? Actually, where is Ortus?"

Sylvia jammed an elbow into her sister's rib, eliciting a wince. It was rude to ask about someone's home in a way that made it seem insignificant, and Sylvia could always just show Vivian where it was on a map later. "Please excuse my sister. We were about to have a light breakfast. It's not much, but you're welcome to join us if you'd like while we wait for the Guildmaster," Sylvia offered an invitation, hoping to make up for Vivian's faux pas, having missed Yang's negative reaction to the knight.

Sylvia and Vivian were a bit taken aback by Bart's statement. They were sure that his immature way of dealing with the situation was a result of some unaddressed trauma. "Oh, well, sorry, we assumed that...you know what? never mind. I'm just glad that you're willing to try and reconcile with Neil. It will do wonders for the guild." With that, the sisters left Bart to his own devices and went down and joined the others for dinner, hearing their plans to attend a festival at the port, and use it as a way to get Bart and Neil to talk it out. It gave the sisters an idea...

In the morning, the sisters headed outside to check on the progress of some herbs that they had preemptively planted in the yard while the greenhouse was still under construction, and saw Neil negotiating with Forde. When he finished, they came up to Neil. "Good on you for standing your ground and insisting he pay us a second bag," Vivian said. She then followed him inside, but soon heard the sound of a horse. When the knight dismounted, Sylvia greeted him, "Yes, this is the Guild. Do you have a quest to post? We were planning on taking the holiday to attend to festival at Boreal Port, so I hope it's not urgent." Though she said this, she had a sinking feeling that the matter indeed was urgent.

Tessa nodded in silent approval as Alex explained his build. Admittedly, the group had too many tanks and off-tanks, so a dedicated damage dealer was a welcome addition. On the other hand Tessa's reaction to Eaudenil was a little more inscrutable; before when the game ran on a predictable program, scouting abilities and classes were all but useless, but now it might actually mean something. But waht actually bothered Tessa was quickly voiced, "So, Rael, whaddya think? I'm worried we don't have enough healing, although me and Eaudenil might be enough support to get by."

It sucked not having a healer, but Tiferet just left, and getting more people to join meant even more recruiting, and splitting the profits even more. There was also the issue of everyone making it back alive, and it wouldn't be prudent to take on more people than they can feasibly protect. "And you, Graves," Tessa added, "I'm pretty sure we can keep these squishies alive, and can probably add a few more. You think it's worth trying to find some more damage or an actual healer?"

Bart inhaled before sharply looking at the Altissima's sisters "I don't need to tell you that Varjo's dangerous. If I could have, I would have built the guild somewhere far away from here. But this was the best I could achieve. Years of preparation, saving up, cutting corners..." Bart trailed off. "I will not let anything happen to this guild. I will not let all my effort to get here go to waste."

"And if anyone wants to take this guild away from me, they can pry it from my cold, dead hands. Be they Varjo, or Neil, or whoever."
Bart

"That's the thing, nobody's trying to take this guild from you, at least Neil isn't. Sure, going against your wishes undermines your leadership, but you have to remember that he's a kid, and he looks at the situation from a place of emotion, not logic. If you want to change his mind, you have to appeal to that," Vivian began.

Sylvia continued, "Your reaction to this whole thing shows that you're using pragmatism to hide your actual reasons. If it was just about the guild's safety, you wouldn't be getting so worked up about it. You would be able to sit down calmly and talk it over with Neil. But right now, when you explain your reasons, people can tell it's not sincere, which makes your argument less convincing. And just giving everyone the cold shoulder who doesn't agree with you weakens your position as guildmaster." Sylvia was only guessing right now, but she pushed ahead, "If you...tell Neil how Varjo has hurt you in the past, maybe Neil will realize how much his stubbornness has hurt you and will be more willing to compromise. Yes, you are the guildmaster, and to a certain degree, you're supposed to be above us, but we would rather that you were one of us, and rather than working for you, we would prefer that we were helping you."

The sisters hoped that Bart would divulge what his actual beef with Varjo was, and maybe they could finally get to the bottom if this.
FYI, I confirmed with Charak beforehand, so my post pro-actively refers to Wisemon's response to Gil's question as to who they should deliver the books to.
