Walking into the Grand Hall was definitely something quite unusual for Torvi, but she did her best not to let anything show. She kept her face neutral and tapped into her warrior’s training to keep from giving away any of her emotions. She did spare a quick glance at Belle as they entered, however, and realized the girl wasn’t as skilled at hiding things. Oh well, it was probably fine and if anyone asked it would be easy to just say this was her first time at the Grand Hall.

She chuckled at Bowyn’s obvious distaste still of being there, but he made a fair point about positioning themselves near an exit. If something were to go down tonight it would be much better for them to be near a quick escape route. Her attention was then drawn by the announcement of someone entering the hall. No one else had been announced and so it definitely made her turn her head to look at the man. ”What a pompous ass…” She said with the shake of her head before looking back to Bowyn.

”I feel like asking that question of me is a silly one, but yes I will take a drink please.” She responded with a giggle and then waited for the others to respond as well before looking around and locating a table near an exit.

”I think we should sit over there maybe?” As she was pointing a man came up to give them all two pieces of paper each. It was soon made clear what they would be used for as the light elf host quieted the room and welcomed his guests. Well dancing with strangers would be a good way to speak to new people, that was for sure.

Umber’s voice filled Azriel’s head as he informed them all that he located a human. A grin crossed her face as he described what she looked like and who she was accompanied by. ”A black feathered mask you say? Perhaps she needs a few more feathers added to her ensemble.” She said in response as one of her mithril covered feathers appeared in her hand. She looked the delicate weapon over with glee as she ran her finger down the side of it, slicing it open and allowing blood to pool and drip onto the feather.

Her attention was grabbed by a man prompting her to take two pieces of paper. ”And what if I don’t want to?” She asked him which in turn prompted the man to quickly bestow two pieces of paper on her before scurrying away. ”What a bold little man.” She said with a wicked smile before flicking the feather she was holding towards him and embedding it in a pillar he was walking by. She watched him jump and glance over his shoulder at her with a gulp before quickly moving once again. She chuckled to herself until the annoying announcement of Lord Terneus reached her ears.

”And people wonder why I don’t like light elves.” She said as she rolled her eyes and then looked up to see a disguised Aklenroth addressing the crowd and welcoming them. He mentioned how dancing would commence and the papers made sense now. What an intriguing move. She thought to herself as she stuck her bleeding finger in her mouth to help stop the bleeding.

》History: Founded in 800 BCE in what is now known as Ireland, three sisters created the coven when they saw the need for order within their lands. Too many were using dark magic and there were no rules with how magic was to be wielded. There needed to be a change if witches were to survive the test of time and they felt they could be that change. The three sisters, named Eriu, Banba, and Fotla, were the daughters of a highly respected chieftain and it made it easier for them to earn respect among their people. With the help of their father, they soon put into place rules of what magic was safe and what magic was forbidden.

Now, the coven has grown exponentially and has smaller groups of the coven spread throughout the world with the headquarters still in Ireland in Belfast. While the original three sisters are no longer alive, having been killed at different times over the years, the coven is still being led by their grandchildren and great grandchildren. The offshoot of the coven in North America is strangely enough located in Ember Grove and is being led by Eriu’s granddaughter.

》Goals: As one of the oldest covens to still survive into modern time, the Circle of the Ancients act as the governing body of the magical world. They hold high authority over the covens of the world and do their best to keep extensive records of each coven. If a coven is accused of severely misusing magic, they are brought before the Circle of Ancients where a trial is held to determine their guilt. If found guilty, the coven is dealt with swiftly and sometimes harshly. They are fare, however, and minor offences they often let slide with a warning. Their goal is to keep order within the world of witches and warlocks.

》Leader: Sorrel

》How radical 1 to 10: 4

》Goals: Just barely formed, Sorrel had discovered that there were quite a few lone wolves living in Ember Grove. Having been a lone wolf herself for many years, despite being an alpha, and recognizing her pull to be a part of a pack urged her to form Vollmond kinder. Her goal is to help those wolves that have nowhere else to turn to and provide a safe haven for them. By uniting them they could look out for one another and protect each other from any dangers that might come. While she’s willing to accept just about anyone into the pack, she will be watching them closely to make sure they won’t be a threat to her new formed family. If she deems them a danger then they will soon discover the might of a 350 year old alpha female.

By the time the ball came around, Kenia had convinced the innkeeper to let her use another room for a few hours as they got ready. She’d figured for her and Corvina it would be better to have their own space to get ready as it was most likely going to take awhile. She’d offered to help Cora ready herself as well, taking to doing her hair and offering to do her makeup as well if she wanted it. This provided a wonderful opportunity for the two women to bond a bit more on their own. Deep down, Kenia couldn’t help but feel a little sadness as she wondered if this would have been what it were like if she were able to help her own daughter get ready for such an event. She refused to let that sadness show, however, as she didn’t want to bring Cora down at all.

After several hours, they were dressed and ready to go. Kenia’s dress might have been a bit more eye catching than she intended, but she didn’t care. This was her, wearing something distracting like this she found to be a good way to start up conversations with people. She’d done her hair in waves and paired everything with a berry red colored lip. She put on her mask and then they were on their way. Rei stayed behind as he wasn’t feeling too well, but she did leave him with instructions on how to get to the Grand Hall if he got to feeling better at all. She wasn’t fond of leaving him there alone, but it was too important to go to this ball tonight.

Soon they were walking inside the Hall, Kenia having linked her arm with Corvina’s as she gave the girl a reassuring smile. Almost immediately after entering, a man approached them and gave each of them two pieces of paper. Apparently they were to be assigned a dance partner twice during the night. She didn’t mind this so much as she thought it would be a good way to speak with new people, maybe get some information from them. She glanced at the papers and saw that her numbers were 1 and 9. She then glanced around the room, wondering who had the matching numbers.

Her eyes then fell on a familiar figure and her heart skipped a beat as a smile came unbidden to her face. Off to the side, obviously trying to avoid people, was Malachi. While she had somewhat tried to avoid talking about what had happened at the tavern the other night, always claiming that now wasn’t the time to discuss such things, she couldn’t deny that she was beginning to care for him. This fact actually scared her a bit, why was she allowing herself to become attached to anyone? Part of her wanted to bolt, while another part of her wanted to go running for him. She did her best to push both thoughts out of her head as she looked over to Cora. ”Come on, I see Malachi. We should go over and at least let him know we made it safe.” She said before heading that direction.

”Well what is a handsome man like yourself doing standing here all alone? Perhaps you’d care for some company?” She said in greeting to Malachi, giving him a sly smile.

Trying to locate rebels in Roshmi had proven to be fruitless, which was a bit of a disappointment to Azriel. At least she got to have some interesting fun at the brothel. When Umber decided to return to the castle, Azriel diligently followed him. She knew the ball would be their best opportunity of catching people and it would be best to prepare for that at the very least. Upon their return she discovered there were new guests at the castle. She found them intriguing, especially when introduced. What a change of pace this human was from Jack. She'd eyed the three, the entire time giving them a slightly unsettling smile. How fun it would be to mess with them, but no time for that yet. There were preparations to be made for the ball.

Now, Azriel stood off to the side of the hall, dressed in a maroon dress with delicate silver chains adorning the long and expensive looking dress. The back was completely open in order to accommodate her wings. Her hair was done up in an elegant style that was very much not her, but she figured if Umber got to look different and stupid then so could she. She even had makeup on under her mask which seemed to pair well with it, even the red lip she’d chosen. She definitely didn’t look her normal self and she’d even venture to say she looked hauntingly pretty, other than the obvious scowl on her face.

The disguise Umber had chosen was definitely not her favorite and had put her in a bit of a sour mood. Pair that with the twinge of jealousy she felt when Umber mentioned Elsea and she wasn’t the most inviting looking person in the room at the moment. ”Oh yes, I’m just swimming with excitement.” She said in response to Umber.

The appearance of Aklenroth didn’t help much either, but she tried to not allow it to make things worse. Why him and Umber wanted to look like light elves was beyond her. ”Preparations are going just fine. Things should be in place.” She said in response to her ruler’s question.

Torvi shuddered at the thought of the fairy they’d encountered a few days ago. She turned to Bowyn and stuck her tongue out. ”Well don’t you look handsome!” She said and then smirked before adding, ”I guess Bowyn looks pretty okay too. If he was gonna tease her then she’d tease him right back. Besides, Boreas did look darling in his little bowtie.

Bowyn’s next statement about her magic had her sighing just a bit. ”I know you’re right, but I don’t have as much confidence with my magic as I do with my weapons. I’ve been training with magic for little over a week while I’ve trained with weapons since I was a very small child. You can’t blame me for being more comfortable with weapons than my magic right now.” If she’d had the magic since she was little and used it since then she was sure she’d probably rely on that more, but she hadn’t had that luxury like Bowyn did. Of course he’d be more comfortable with magic.

”Shouldn’t we be leaving soon? Is everyone ready to go?” She asked after another moment had passed.

Torvi had been quite appreciative of Elleta for opening her home to them. For one it meant that they wouldn’t need to spend money on a place to stay anymore which she was sure Bowyn would be happy with. It also provided them with a semi safe place to talk and practice her magic, which practice she did. Elleta, Rosemary, and Belle invited her to train with them which was very helpful to Torvi. She learned that she actually prefered to be barefoot most of the time as it helped her feel a bit more connected to her element. Not only that, but it also made sensing things through the ground a bit easier, though in all honesty she wouldn’t call that an easy skill at all. It took the vast majority of her concentration to pull it off.

When it came to weapon training, Torvi was really in her element there. The others would see just how ruthless and deadly she could be with most melee weapons, but her specialties were axes and swords. She happily taught Belle what she could as well, hoping she’d never have to use these skills but if she did she’d be prepared. She’d even offered to teach Bowyn some stuff if he wanted as she wasn’t entirely sure how skilled he was in combat.

Now it was growing near time to leave for the ball and Torvi was readying herself. While she wasn’t unfamiliar with wearing dresses, she wasn’t used to such a fine dress that was a bit more form fitting. It made her a little uncomfortable, especially when she discovered that she’d have nowhere to carry her axes. She did find a way to strap a few knives to her legs, however, keeping them hidden from sight. She’d be damned if she were going into this ball without a weapon close at hand. Things could go so terribly wrong so quickly and she wanted to be prepared.

She looked herself over quickly, wondering how such a pretty dress had been made. Paired with her mask and hair she felt like she looked completely different. She also opted for some shoes that she could easily kick off and abandon if she needed too. With that she decided that she was ready and headed down the stairs to the living room where Belle was waiting. ”No, I don’t feel ready. I feel naked without my weapons, but there’s no use in complaining about that.” She said with a sigh, but then gave Belle a smile.

The parting of Dio was quite a heartbreaking one and Elsea had felt a few tears slip from her own eyes as she watched how brokenhearted Risa was. She sent a silent plea up to the gods that Dionaea would be alright for she feared how it would change Risa if something were to happen to her dear friend. The loss of anyone close to you tended to change a person and she feared that this alone was already beginning to take effect with Risa.

They met with another group who Risa had come across one night and Elsea found herself being rather weary of the group. While they seemed nice enough and didn’t want to cause them harm, she knew they needed to be more careful now with their faces all over the place. Who to trust was going to be a difficult thing to determine from now on. She did find a strange comradery in the human girl, Corvina, though. Perhaps it was because the two shared the same element or perhaps it was just the excitement of finding another human who wasn’t high and mighty like Jean was.

Now it was an hour until the ball was to start and Elsea had opted to get herself ready as Risa needed Kyran’s mother’s attention. She was to make a statement at the ball and so the help getting ready seemed necessary. The gown Elsea had been given to wear had been nothing like she’d ever worn before. It was so elegant and beautiful that she felt like she wasn’t worthy of such fine apparel. She stared at herself in the mirror, not recognizing the woman standing there. She’d had someone show her how to apply something called makeup and it changed her appearance rather drastically. Her eyes seemed to pop more and her skin was completely flawless. Her hair had been swept back into a thick braid and adorned with some greenery that popped in her red hair. She took a deep breath and placed the mask on her face before stepping out of the room.

In front of her was Risa and Kyran, the latter seeming to be lost in the beauty of Risa who was in fact a sight to behold. ”Kyran you should probably pick your jaw up off the floor before we leave.” She teased as she gave them both a smile.
