As I've fallen sick from the haze issue back in my region, I've been staying at home... And so I'm mostly catching up with OOC actions via mobile.

I'm hopeless typing on the phone, and we all know that autocorrect is an insufferable smartass.

Just completed the new story chapter on Mobius FF, and climbing the Colosseum ranking on KHUx while I've got tissues stuck up my nose.

...I feel terrible.

Can I get a vote to see who wants to go solo and who is okay with collab? Then I'll rewrite the GM part accordingly (or I'd probably just remove it since it's just an expansion of the outline I've already given to all).

And personally I'm not strict with posting order either, just don't go too far ahead - like if your characters wants to run off on their own at this stage, I can't stop you...but be prepared for the consequences of their actions, yes.

@AirBender It's hard to get everyone on at the same time, that I agree; as Grasshopper has pointed out, the pad has colored highlights to indicate the authorship of each player even if they are offline, so I thought it's not a major issue - everyone can get on at their own free time and add their parts/edit accordingly along the way, and there's also a function to check history of the additions/changes made.

Really appreciate the effort you made to create a PM thread to get the ball rolling. :)

(I'm surprised that everyone is oddly shy here - I've seen some of you guys around the site and none of you strike me as the shy type, lol. Guess I still have a loooooong way to go to become a decent GM. XD)

@tsukune It's not a matter of being lost about it, it's a matter of nobody being willing. I made a PM thread for it cause I thought that would be easier. Bounce was the only one who replied and they didn't want to do a collab.

Ah, it's my failure (as an inexperienced GM) not to get the hint that most - not all - of you are not keen to do collab (at this stage, at least).

Apologies for being a dick and pushing you guys to do something that you don't like/want to do.

I'm fine if you guys prefer to stick to traditional solo posting instead of writing together, but I do expect to see everyone to be more open-minded about collab as the IC continues on, especially when we start the action scenes.

A big thank you to @Grasshopper for being the one who shared my sentiment for collab writing.

(Also, I did state in the check and OOC that this RP will involve heavy collab work, so I'm quite shocked when you guys are telling me you don't wish to do collabs at all.)

Seems like everyone's quite lost about the collab... No worries, I've added a GM part to the collab pad to help you guys get started.

I've never used a common pad before. I'm open to trying it sometime, if anyone wants to do a collaborative post, but I think I'd be the same. Write it out first, and then post it into the pad. People could look at it and edit it on their own time, I'm thinking.

As I've told AirBender previously, you can write somewhere else before posting the finalized draft into the common pad if you're uncomfortable about people watching you type your parts real time. Also, you don't necessarily have to use the pads if you're doing player-specific collab - you can use other alternatives that works best for you.

Now that your first post to bring your characters into the world is done, time to get comfy (or rowdy) with some exchanges!

In other words, you'll be making use of the common pad to start a full-party collab.

Here are some GM notes you can use to help you with the collab:

• Your Moogle partners tell you a bit about the strange realm your characters are now in - that the name of the world is called "Celestia", split into five regions (which are already listed in the Codex). And they will tell your characters the region they are currently in.
• The Moogles are your guide and traveling companion to Celestia; if anyone asked for a reason, the Moogles will respond that it's simply because it's part of "Celestia's rules".
• In the case that any of the characters asked about the strange, deep voice that spoke to them in their head before waking up, do take note that the Moogles are unable to hear "The Voice" and therefore have no idea what your characters are talking about.

I'll PM one of you with the first "clue" tomorrow. (Just to let you guys know, my timezone is GMT +8.)

While I admit that light saber keyblade would be cool, I'm not really keen to see the SW world in the game - maybe for the Gummi ship battles and Vader as a secret boss would be awesome, but other than those two, eh.

Super excited about FFVII, but I have no idea how long it will actually take them to get that out. When they do, it'll sell like crazy and they'll drown in pools of money. Dive into their gold pile like Scrooge McDuck.

Pretty sure a lot of hardcore FF7 fans are definitely keeping their eyes on the Remake (trailer didn't show much but the graphic quality is something worth looking forward to). But first...give us the long-awaited FF15 and KH3. As long as they all come out as top-notch quality games, I don't mind the wait... Rather than them rushing to please the impatient fans and give us cheap stuffs.

I get all this. As I said, I've had both good and bad experiences with them. But most folks emphasize romance, or else REALLY want to push a high school slice of life setting (in which romance inevitably happens). There are twists and tweaks on it, but most folks don't RP anything beyond what I'd call a typical perception of the teenage experience.

Now, the teenage years are very important. But the rest of life is important, too, equally so. But we don't see people RPing about being outright kids very often, nor do we often see folks RPing about being old men and women or even middle-aged unless they're already getting on in years. I feel like the reasons for teenaged and early twenties characters being the focus of most people's roleplay has a lot to do with the romantic and sex appeal of such characters (besides the typical "power fantasy" stuff). Old people are "squicky" in this context and a lot of roleplayers are on the younger (30 years or younger) side - certainly not all roleplayers, mind you.

Child characters... I figure most people find playing a kid to be weird or beneath them or maybe would just rather play a character whose interests can realistically involve sex. Plus, child characters come loaded with a crapton of limitations we don't want to deal with when we roleplay, like having to listen to to their parents, like having curfews, like having to do homework, like being unable to fight the big bads, like being pretty much disadvantaged in a ton of ways while also having a few unique options available to them. Basically, a child character makes you weaker, and there's a very real want for roleplay to give us a feeling of power or independence. Roleplay can be very self-expressive.

And some people are just not very sexual beings. I mean... Myself? I think about sex and I think "Eh." There's nothing especially exciting about it to me. I don't spend very many, if any, waking hours thinking about the subject. I love the idea of romance and having someone be very close to me and sharing my feelings with them. I'd love to wake up next to that someone, certainly. But the idea of sex itself just bores me, and I've never been all that enthused by amorous acts. I frankly don't get the sex drive a lot of people have. So, when people want to roleplay about sex sex sex, I honestly have no enthusiasm for the subject matter at all and have zero interest in getting involved in that. And... well, a lot of RPers that want to RP about "romance" throw in words like "mature" and want some saucy typing. It's not my cup of tea, and it's especially not my cup of tea when we're dealing with teenagers.

I don't hate romance - in fact, when people come together and build bonds with one another, it's natural for the feelings go beyond mere friendship and the characters would ponder about going further as they become closer together. It can help to develop the characters collectively as they try to sort out the increasing complication of their relationship with one another.

...Until some people misinterpret that closeness as an opportunity to jump the sex wagon.

Romance =/= sex, period. Romance is the psychological-emotional bond the characters share with each other; sex is simply to satisfy personal lust (unless you're hellbent to get babies, that's a different story).

Regarding child characters, I think it also has got to do with the whole "mature" mindset. Other than all the sex and "power fantasy" stuffs, most players probably have this conscious/subconscious thinking of wanting their characters to have a certain edge over everyone else's - that's where the idea of "maturity" comes to play. Just like you said, the idea of playing childish, simple-minded, weak characters don't appeal to them... But in a roleplay that focuses on adventure and exploration, it's much funnier and more exciting to have a group of rowdy kids than...a bunch of angsty teens.

Oh, speaking of collabs, I guess this is important to mention. I hate using pads for collabs. It makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable when somebody watches me write. So if you want to collab with me, we can either use PMs, or I'll write my pieces somewhere else, then post them to the pad once they're finished. No exceptions, it seriously makes my skin crawl.

Ah, I can understand - there are times I would write my parts on MS Word or Notepad first, then I cut-and-paste them to the collab pads later. After many collab experiences I'm now more open to write directly on the pad, but sometimes I still prefer to write the draft somewhere before I show others my finalized stuff.

Other than the common pad, you can use other alternatives for specific-player collabs, no problem.

The reason why I highly encourage collab writing is not just because I have an eternal hatred for one-liners and speed-posting in IC, but also that I am keeping track of the IC as much as all of you guys do. I get miffy if the flow is choppy and awkward, which messes up my reading rhythm and pace, preventing me from feeling the plot and characters well.
