< The Story >

Pocket Monster - in short, Pokemon - is an overarching species of creatures spanning over hundreds of colorful varieties that live on the planet Earth with us, the humans. In the sky, in the sea, on land - both the humans and pokemons share the world together in peace and harmony. Through encounters and interactions, humans and pokemons form a bond with each other, becoming friends that help each other out in their journey and growth to become a better, stronger individual and team.

In Hoenn, ways to showcase the bond between the trainers and their pokemons can be seen through either Gym Battles or Pokemon Contests. Trainers who have collected a minimum of 8 gym badges can participate in the Hoenn League, while acquiring a minimum of 5 contest ribbons allows the trainers to compete in the Grand Festival.

This is the story of 4 traveling companions, with big dreams of their own as they set on a journey to make their dream come true...

There are numerous 'What If' pokemon teams for all sorts of fictional characters out there - animanga, video games, or even your non-existent best friend. Then, while we were having wild imagines of Final Fantasy character teams... this crazy roleplay is born from the ridiculous idea of, "Fuck it. Let's throw the FF characters into the Pokemon world and ruin both fandoms make both universes double the epicness."

Not enough madness? How about turning the professors to follow the Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny line with Cids, Ignis being the perfect FF version of Brock, and overrun Hoenn with Torchic - the Pokemon version of Chocobos?

< The Lore >

Hoenn

A region in the Pokemon world located at the south of Sinnoh, Hoenn is said to be created after Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre were formed. Primal Groudon raised the landmasses and Primal Kyogre filled the seas that would later become Hoenn, but the meeting of these two legendary pokemons resulted in a fierce battle for supremacy. Mega Rayquaza then came to silence the two ancient ones and put them to sleep, restoring peace to Hoenn once more.

Starter Pokemons

In Hoenn, beginning trainers would receive one of the three starter pokemons from Professor Cid Birch at his laboratory to start them off on their journey:

• Grass: Treecko
• Fire: Torchic
• Water: Mudkip

Gym Battles & Hoenn League

There are numerous pokemon gyms scattered all around Hoenn, and each of them would be attributed to at least one pokemon type (some may have dual types). Trainers would challenge the gym leaders to a gym battle to earn badges, which are the symbols of the respective gyms and as proof of victory. Each gym has their own rules, so don't be afraid to ask - or else get your ass kicked so badly you wished you've asked. Gym battles require the trainers to make full use of their pokemons' abilities - even the field and environment - so tactics play a major role to determine the winner of each battle.

Collecting a minimum of 8 badges allows the trainer to register for the Hoenn League, where the strongest trainers in the region would challenge each other to the top before getting the chance to fight against the previous champion.

Pokemon Contests & Grand Festival

Unlike gym battles, Pokemon Contests are more performance-oriented, focusing on the beauty and aesthetics of the pokemon instead. Each contest has two stages:

In the first round, trainers (called "Coordinators") would put up a coordinated performance between themselves and their pokemon, but ultimately their pokemon is the spotlight. Points will be awarded by a panel of three judges, and the 8 highest would proceed to the second stage.

In round two, coordinators will pit against each other in a battle with a time limit of 5 minutes. Points are deducted if the opponent executes a beatiful move successfully; more if the attack hits the mark. The coordinator who has the highest points left after the time limit will be awarded a ribbon.

Collecting all 5 ribbons allows the coordinator to participate in the Grand Festival, where they will challenge other coordinators to win the Ribbon Cup and the title of Top Coordinator in the region.

The only issue with images is that they scale down on different devices so what could look fine on one screen may look horribly awful on another. In some cases the images can push the edge of the forum boundaries and again, look out of place.

The only type of image where I have such a problem is animated GIF (well obviously); otherwise I do not have the resizing issue you mentioned with JPEG and PNG regardless of the type of devices I use to access this site.

Either way, both direct coding and using images have their own respective limitations, so it's up to the individual to use whichever one that works best for themselves. If you can make-do with limited features that the BBcode can do on this site, it's more convenient when you want to make changes freely; if you want more fancy customization, you'll have to use image editors, yeah.

@Buddha Unfortunately, no. The table coding for this site is very limited and I have to figure it out myself, though partly thanks to a reference @NuttsnBolts showed me long ago.

If you wish to have more custom control over whatever designs you may have in mind, you're better off creating them as images, then linking back here with [img][/img].

Has happened to me a few times, on this site and other RP forums.

But on this site so far that only happens with @Mr Allen J. Because Gaybridge is so gay that it should end already.

Character Sheet Exhibition/Gallery Thread

I think it's a good idea for peeps to share their aesthetic sheet designs and give tips on how they make such nice-looking CS/NS, but a lot of these "secrets" are down to your knowledge on BBcoding, basic organization and design understanding - and of course, lots of trial and error.

Shameless self-plug here but do check out the BBcoding guide to help you get the gist of all the BB codes you can use on this forum, and have fun playing around with the coding to create pretty sheets like some of the members in the previous posts. :)

(Also, I think most of the sheets in the subforum for CS are rather messy or incomplete, yeah.)

First off, while it can't be helped that IC collab posts can get rather long, just make sure every word is relevant to the plot and character development, and also without dragging down the pace unnecessarily. However, do understand that I seriously need TL;DR for OOC because I don't have so much time to go through long discussions back and forth between every single member here (there are like at least 10 of us here), when all I need is the final conclusion and move on.

Like I said, I have a job, I have other RPs to work on, I have other projects to do for my portfolio, I have a RL to live with my own family and friends - plus I need the basic necessities of food, rest and sleep too, lols. There's only so much time I have each day, so I'd appreciate everyone to get straight to main point and cut me all the long explanations (I'm not stupid, yo - English may not my native tongue, but that doesn't mean I need an explanation for every little thing >_< I'll ask the specific questions if there's something I don't understand), which can help to maximize the little time I have to get as much work done as possible efficiently.

TL;DR exists not because of advanced roleplaying. For my case, it exists to keep my sanity with my busy life. Please understand.

Regarding collab, I can work on it anytime (read: as and when I'm free/when I'm not busy with work), but there's nothing I can do until @Pudding writes something. She hasn't replied to my DM on Discord either, so I assume she's still busy with uni.

I do have holiday jobs (to save up money for my next semester), but it's mostly freelance work - I'm officially writing for a living, yes - so multitasking while RPing shouldn't be much of a problem. Hopefully. When I'm not catching up with my 1x1s, that is.

And then get the collab done and over with already. Seriously, 1-month worth of delay and 24 pages on Gdoc is just waaaaaaay too long. And we're still not finished with it yet!

Anyway.

Regarding voting system, I'm mostly indifferent as long as it can fit the context of the IC development and stuff. Just don't try to pull retarded stunts to settle personal grudges and keep the drama strictly in IC only, and I guess we can all be dandy. Though, personally I'm still more inclined to the classic deduction style of mystery-solving in fictions than voting, yeah.
