Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.
At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

I mean...

Look, even this has errors in it and you don't ask for help. Goblins are a specific thing and summoning is kind of not something you can just like, spam with a gauntlet you got from no-where.

I don't know what I can do to help you because you don't ask and every bio you've tried has had something wrong about the setting. I really think you would be better off trying another RP then continually attempting to join this one. It's been six months. Normally I'm happy to help people with my setting but I have no idea how to help you at all.

Your bios are also very low-effort on top of that.

I really think you should try somewhere else. You're not meeting any success here.
She hated this.

Angrily finishing off her breakfast bar, the girl grumbled to herself as she walked along, her ponytail and scarf swishing behind her. Of course they insisted she couldn't just tackle this one solo. She'd run missions before! She'd never had any trouble! Sure, this one was a little far, but that didn't mean she couldn't handle it...

She huffed to herself, staring at the restaurant, but the mere thought of asking for help was... it was making her blush. No, not just making her blush, it was completely embarrassing! To think that they'd make her ask for help...

Yuko fidgeted where she stood, feeling the heat in her cheeks. She couldn't let anyone see how embarrassed she was. She just couldn't. She'd been here before, they'd see how embarrassed she was and... and... Ah, that's it! She just wouldn't let them see her face! No matter what else anyone thought, she wouldn't let anyone realize that she was blushing. She couldn't!

And so the short girl reached into her bag, withdrawing her mask. It wasn't an ordinary mask, of course, in the shape of the stylized fox's face. It had function both as a guard for her face and through possessing both night vision and heat vision. Right now it was going to be using neither of those.

Right now it was going to be used so no-one could tell how flustered she was.

Strapping the mask onto her head, covering her face behind it, Yuko marched right into the restaurant and stood with her arms spread wide.

"I'm going on a well-paying mission!" she declared, loudly. "So... er..."

She hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath before pointing at the people in the area at large.

"So I'm going to let a few lucky people accompany me! It'll be easy since I'll take the lead! So... so just accept my offer and come with me or something, okay?!"

To be perfectly honest, Yuko wasn't used to asking people for help.
Mordred

By this point, Mordred had dispelled her armor entirely, leaving her in nothing but the tube top and shorts that she had made her casual wear. These rooms weren't exactly terrible, on one hand, but on the other she definitely liked her place back in Chaldea better. They all got to customize their rooms however they liked, after all. But this was only temporary, right? This wasn't where they were going to be stuck. She wasn't going to let this be permanent. Not when her Master needed her.

"Ehhh? Yeah yeah, you don't need to babysit me or something," Mordred replied, leaning against the wall and shoved her hands into her pockets as she did. At least the floor felt kind of comfortable on her bare feet. She didn't like the boots in the armor. Or her armor in general, for that matter, if she could help it she preferred not to wear it. But she wasn't an idiot who would try to fight without it entirely either. Sure, she was confident in her abilities, but a knight wore armor to do battle and all, right?

"As long as we've got a contract-ah..." For a moment the blonde knight trailed off, cheeks coloring at the memory of the... process of contracting with the vampiric little girl. "... A-as long as we've got a contract you'll keep supplying me with mana, so it doesn't matter if we're together or not."

Konpaku Youmu

The only respectful and polite way to finally greet the boy who had aided her was to bow. However, before she could really do anything else, he suddenly apologized and grabbed her by the hand. Surprised, Youmu couldn't really do much to resist for a moment as she was pulled along. The... police? Why would they react poorly? Hadn't she just helped them take out a bunch of ruffians who were hurting people and causing panic? Youmu simply couldn't fathom why that would be the case. However, she didn't resist, either, feeling that he likely had no ill intent. However, that didn't mean she was exactly happy with this arrangement either.

"... You could have just asked me to follow you, you know..." she complained as she was pulled through the alleys. Soon enough, however, they came across a family it took a moment for Youmu to recognize. However, once they spoke, the recognition dawned on the small white-haired girl. The family that had been in the vehicle she'd prevented from crashing. She elected to remain silent for the moment, part of her mind still focused on the information being relayed to her by her phantom half. This outside world city was truly enormous... However, when the girl seemed to look up at her with shining eyes, Youmu gave her a smile.

They were allowing them to stay in their home? Well... Until Youmu figured out how she return to Yuyuko-sama, she reluctantly agreed to the idea of needing somewhere to stay. Still, it wouldn't be long. She had to make her way back to Yuyuko-sama's side! Her duty was to Yuyuko-sama! Her life was sworn to Yuyuko-sama's service!

She bowed again.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Leaton-san," she began, before straightening and beginning to follow Leonardo and the Leaton family. After a moment's pause, she continued to speak.

"I apologize for having not introduced myself, ah..." she scratched the back of her head, somewhat awkwardly. "My name is Konpaku Youmu, and thank you once again."

There wasn't anywhere to put her shoes before fully entering the house... so she slipped off her footwear and left them as close to the doorway as possible.

Vita

She had a room to herself.

She didn't like it. Oh, it's not that the room itself was bad in any way. Far from it. It was a very nice room. But she was still stewing in frustration from the earlier, and now... Well, Hayate wasn't here. It couldn't be her home if Hayate wasn't here. It was where she'd be while she waited until she could return to her own universe, but it wasn't her home. Still... shuffling for a few moments, the tiny redheaded girl realized she kind of wanted to take a bath.

At least that was something she could do here.

Soon enough, Vita has undressed and gotten into the bath. At least being in comfortable, warm water was a little bit soothing at least. She still found herself feeling... lonely, though...

And then...

"Nanoha?"

She paused for a moment.

"They told you about all that weird stuff too, right? This is some kind of other world, but it's sort of creepy that they have stories about us here."

She let out a huff.

"Hmph. Just watching stuff about our lives like that..."

  • Name: Yuko
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: Dark brown hair, gold eyes, light skintone. She's pretty short too.
  • Personality: Yuko is an energetic girl who seems ready for anything at all times. Highly confident in herself, she has a sort of "accept any challenge" kind of attitude and and a highly optimistic outlook... on herself. Her faith in other people is rather low, and she has a tendency to laugh at others or even tease them if she thinks they did something silly or foolish. Indeed, Yuko will not hesitate to admonish and mock anyone she thinks is being stupid. Her generally positive outlook is tempered by, well, something of a temper. When she believes someone is being too foolish, her cheery taunting turns into anger and she will become quite irritable. That being said, Yuko also cares about those around her, especially children, and will do her best to ensure anyone working with her is not harmed. Even if she spends a lot of time teasing others, the truth is that she does care about them. Even if she doesn't exactly show it. At times, Yuko will use her mask to cover her reaction. Usually this is when she decides not to make it obvious she's laughing, but also when she's flustered or embarrassed about something to cover her blush. While she can fight hand to hand, she much prefers to use her katana.
  • Equipment: Yuko carries a number of different tools on her person. Chief of these is her main weapon, a katana designed to channel heat its blade. The heat is continually channeled through the edge of the sword once activated, heating the weapon to an extreme level. As a result, she is capable of cutting cleanly through many different kinds of targets when the blade is heated. However, the superheat function of the sword is not without its drawbacks. If overused, it can cause the weapon to overheat and force it into a cooldown state. If pushed even further, it can cause the sword to heat to the point where Yuko can no longer hold it. Aside from her weapon, Yuko carries a kitsune mask that possesses functions for both heat and night vision. Aside from basic food, she also carries a set of eight blasting powder vials, gunpowder-like substance that causes a small explosion once ignited. The vials are insulated to prevent this from occurring by accident.
  • Abilities: Yuko is very, very fast and dexterous, allowing her to pull off stunning maneuvers with her blade.
  • Skills: Yuko is skilled in two primary areas when it comes to combat. That is that she is very capable with a sword, enough to even deflect projectiles, and that she is surprisingly capable in hand to hand. However, due to her small size and relatively low amount of strength, her hand to hand combat is based around using momentum to deliver her blows or take targets off-balance.
  • History: Yuko was raised by her uncle, a hotblooded "man's man" who immediately decided to train his niece in hand to hand combat. Of course, since she was such a small girl, he decided to tailor the lessons to her size. This lead to her current style of unarmed combat. In spite of this training, Yuko was always more interested in fighting with a weapon, specifically a sword. Indeed, something that was left to her by her parents' was a katana, a sword that was built to heat itself up to extreme temperatures in order to enhance its cutting power. Eventually, once her uncle deemed her ready for it, Yuko claimed the weapon as her own and launched herself into lessons on how to use it, training for much of her life in order to wield it skillfully. Excited to use her abilities, Yuko managed to register for the guild and do some basic gathering missions not far from the city of New Auren.

Midorikawa Nana

Nana's cheeks flushed, her attention immediately returning fully to her roommate as her eyes widened and she had an expression of flustered shock on her face. Sing Hotaru a lullaby? How... how could she do that? She wasn't... Aaah, why did Hotaru make a suggestion like that? After a moment, the twintailed girl attempted to regain her composure, her cheeks still somewhat flushed with embarrassment as she shifted from one foot to the other. To think, Nana had become used to so much, but all it took was one awkward question from her roommate to take her off-guard...

"... You can't just ask such embarrassing things out of no-where..." complained the shorter of the two girls, finally, averting her eyes as she did. Of course, the comment by Miyomoto had hardly fallen on deaf ears. Pausing for a moment, the red fading from her cheeks, Nana once more looked past Hotaru, locking her eyes on the purple-haired girl. A weird comment like that had earned only one reaction...

"Jiiiiii."

I feel like that backstory isn't enough but I was struggling from the start with it. ^^;
Fanilly's sword flashed, and yet another orc fell dead, her blade piercing the front of its head and protruding through the back. She drew her blade back and it toppled to the ground in a splatter of dark red blood. The remainder of the orcs had fled, or died on the battlefield. She noticed some of the fleeing beasts hit the ground as arrows pierced their dark armor and flesh. Undeniably, victory had gone to the Iron Roses.

Any orcs that remained on the battlefield were soon struck down, and a troll fell with a thud, dead. Soon the others followed, leaving a battlefield littered with dead orcs. There had not been a single casualty on part of the knights, but she could see there were some injured... and that was not to say the fight had no claimed any lives on their side, either. Towards the wall she could see a few bodies of the dead soldiers, the bodies of men and women who had been stationed to defend the town with their lives. The orcs had claimed the lives of several of the defenders prior to the arrival... the blonde girl gripped her sword more tightly. All she could hope for is that their intervention had prevented those sacrifices from being in vain.

"... Iron Roses," she declared, raising her blade skyward, "We have taken victory! But do not let your guard down. There was a magical attack from the forest, until we're certain there won't be another we must remain vigilant!"

Indeed, they had defeated the orc forces. And yet... something still felt strange to Fanilly. Regardless of how it felt to her, however, the gate in front of Brennan, tall and made of dark wood and steel, slowly creaked open as the relieved defenders made there way out. They wanted to congratulate the Iron Roses, it seemed.

"A-ah...?"

Lyrie trembled. On... on her feet... shuddering and taking a deep breath, she tried to remember what she was. If she panicked her healing wouldn't be as good, if she panicked then she definitely wouldn't be able to help anyone at all. She didn't respond to Tiral, fearing that it would make him yell more, but instead she stood up and clutched her staff in both hands. It was hard but... she had to keep it together. She had to focus. She didn't feel any particular confidence boost, but at the same time Lyrie didn't want to let anyone down... so she had to try and focus.

And it was only a moment later that she got a chance to put her skills into practice, as the blood-soaked Tyaethe deposited Avlin before her. The knight seemed more embarrassed then in pain.

"She's got the right of it," he said, with an awkward laugh, "I can't stand on it. Ah, and against a rabble of orcs, too. How does a knight end up like this?"

Lyrie didn't respond for a moment. His leg. It was his leg. Which was currently armored. Taking a deep breath, she knelt down beside the injured knight.

"P-please, lay down," she began. Sir Avlin followed her request moments after. "N-now... I... maybe need help removing the armor from his leg, er..."

When the sword pierced the heart symbol on the tree, it suddenly blazed a brilliant shade of purple. The air was abruptly filled with an overwhelming, overbearing feeling of power, and the symbol itself ignited and erupted outwards.

There was a rush of noise and heat, but an instant later it was gone.

In front of the knights stood the third of their number, the shield-bearing Angeline. The silver-haired knight panted, her shield smoking. Any investigating would reveal that the outer side of it was glowing white hot. At some point before the explosion, she had managed to force herself between the blast and the others.

It was likely that the only reason they were not dead now, however, was the capabilities of Indrau's sword managing to dampen the strength of the trap. The tree had been blown completely in half.

Midorikawa Nana

Even when she was prepared, Nana was nearly taken off her feet by the hug from her roommate. Hotaru was very enthusiastic about hugs, and if she hadn't managed to brace herself it was likely the smaller girl would have been knocked entirely off her feet. As it was, she stayed still for a moment while she was gripped in Hotaru's arms, before briefly raising a hand to wrap around the other girl in return. Even if she was disappointed in her roommate for falling asleep during class, it wasn't as if the hug wasn't nice... however, after a moment, the pigtailed girl stepped back.

"You need to try and pay more attention in class," she said, simply, "If you did, then you wouldn't fall asleep so easily and the teacher wouldn't keep you behind."

Given this was said in Nana's usual relatively quiet, somewhat flat tone, her expression one of mild disappointment, it would be easy for some to miss that most of what she said was out of true concern for Hotaru rather then annoyance.

Perhaps if they still managed to get their homework done quickly, they'd have more free time later that day. That was the ideal outcome. She knew there was a small restaurant that had opened nearby that was likely something Hotaru would enjoy, after all...

Though first she had to look the other girl over in a very serious manner to ensure she hadn't forgotten anything.

Briefly looking past Hotaru, she noticed someone else. There was Ueno-senpai. Or rather, Sergeant Ueno.

Was there something she wanted right now?
