Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

  • Name: Konpaku Youmu
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "Ah, yes, Yuyuko-sama, it is quite tasty." Youmu is pretty small, at under five feet.
  • Personality: Calm, collected, serious. These are things Youmu tries to be at all times. To her credit, in a fight she is a dangerous and focused opponent, but outside of combat she is prone to being rather awkward. Her attempts to remain collected often fail, as Youmu is easily surprised and confused. She is not unintelligent, but it is simply quite easy to exasperate or perplex her. Youmu is easily frustrated by things that confuse her, and she is somewhat easy to mislead. However, she has been working on this, as to not fail Yuyuko. Youmu takes pride in her combat capabilities and her speed, as well as her katana, Roukanken and Hakuroken. In spite of her attempts to be a dutiful and serious warrior, Youmu retains a fear of ghost stories. In spite of being half ghost. And serving a ghost. However, when her opponent is not a ghost, Youmu can be a courageous fighter who refuses to give in. She also retains absolute loyalty to Saigyouji Yuyuko, even if the gluttonous ghost confuses and embarrasses her at times. Youmu is reluctant to kill other intelligent beings unless it is necessary to defend herself, Yuyuko, or others.
  • Brief History: Youmu was born into the Konpaku family, half-ghosts in service of the ruler of the Netherworld, Saigyouji Yuyuko. She was trained intensely in swordplay, and in how to garden in order to cultivate the gardens around Yuyuko's home. Soon enough, Youmu became Yuyuko's servant, dedicated to her service even when she was to cause an incident that nearly(unintentionally) caused the awakening of a malevolent entity in the form of a soul-eating cherry tree. Since then, Youmu has actively assisted in the resolution of several incidents.
  • Universe of Origin: Touhou
  • Equipment: Youmu carries two katana, Roukanken and Hakuroken.
    • Roukanken: An incredibly long katana, a nodachi that measures longer than the short girl is tall. Roukanken's blade was forged by youkai, allowing it to be nearly unbreakable. This is not the most notable feature of Roukanken, however. The katana's incredibly sharp blade transcends physicality, allowing it to cut apart even existences such as formless ghosts. Rocks, trees, flesh, steel, little can stand up to the unrestrained Roukanken. However, Youmu utilizes danmaku rules to avoid killing unless her life or the lives of others are in danger. Supernatural protection, or heavily augmented technology, may also defend against Roukanken.
    • Hakurouken: A wakizashi, Hakurouken possesses no ability to kill a living thing. Indeed, it is almost entirely harmless, causing some pain and discomfort but otherwise nothing else. Its capabilities lie in another area. It can be used to parry and it can incapacitate with enough blows, but the true nature of Hakurouken is its ability to divide things such as confusion. Certainly, cutting confusion is a valuable asset to the easily-confused Youmu. However, this is merely a side effect of its intended function. Hakurouken instantly causes the state of Nirvana in spirits it strikes, causing them to vanish utterly.
  • Abilities: Youmu is somewhat more durable than a regular human being, and has a somewhat more capable healing ability, but this is nothing as extreme as most youkai. As a half-ghost, a portion of her soul is embodied as a (usually)non-sentient floating phantom referred to as Myon. This can be used to observe distant areas, fire danmaku, or even temporarily become a duplicate of Youmu for double team attacks. Youmu also feels everything Myon feels, though she cannot be damaged in this way(something painful to Myon will be painful to Youmu, though). Youmu is an incredibly skilled swordswoman, capable of wielding her blades both one and two-handed. Her strength is above human level, allowing her to wield the incredibly long Roukanken one-handed. Youmu's attacking speed allows her to slash many times in an instant, to the point where it appears as a single attack. She can also move very quickly, in both air and on land, her speed making her the second fastest person in Gensokyo. This allows her to pull off her family technique, Two-Hundred Yojana in One Slash, covering an enormous amount of distance and come back in the time it takes to unsheath Roukanken and cut with it, allowing her to cut foes even quite a distance away. However, these shows of speed will eventually wear on her, so she cannot endlessly utilize her top speed. She also carries spellcards and is fully capable of flight. Her most powerful technique, both in spellcard form and as a true attack, is Reflecting Satellite Slash. This attack is simultaneously the cutting of her blade and a wave of blades reflected by the light of the moon, assaulting her opponent in a flash of light as she moves to cut through them. Even in nonlethal danmaku form it is a highly dangerous attack. However, it requires Youmu to hold still and gather power to properly perform it. In spite of all her advantages, Youmu is still partially human and can be injured as a human can, and while attacks to Myon do not cause physical harm, the pain caused by them can immobilize her.

Might wait until Monday to post, but I won't delay any longer than that.
I'll get my bio up soon.
"Uwah!"

Why was this happening again!?

Two days in a row! Two days in a row she'd been on her way home from school, mind on important subjects, and she'd been crashed into suddenly and knocked onto her butt! How was that fair!? How was that right?! Gritting her teeth in anger, Hikari's head snapped up.

"Why don't you wa-"

And in an instant, her anger was suddenly dissipated by something else entirely.

That was the very same chatroom she'd been looking at before. The same channel. Everything. Even if the other girl had snatched it up in an instant, it had been exposed long enough for her to identify it. For a few moments, the small brunette was silent, eyes slowly drifting from the spot the phone had landed on to the girl.

This was the moment to file this knowledge away. Yes indeed, not to say a single thing about it, act as if she didn't see a thing. ... but was that right? They were magical girls after all! She was new, and it was the Hex Night where people were fighting each other and all that, but that didn't mean she had to be secretive... but was it stupid not to be? It might have been, she had to think this thro-

"You're a magical girl too!?"

The words had escaped her mouth even as her mind raced.

"..."

Some part of her had been taken by her excitement at being part of this world of magical girls. And it had slipped out in that instant. Damn it, being put into this situation...! All because someone wasn't watching where they were going again!

The the few moments since she'd asked her question, however...

[Lucky-chan]: You saw them too?

[Tetsu no Kokoro]: I saw them out my window... creepy...

[Koakuma]: What a freak! Peeping on girls like that!

@LuckyBlackCat
@The 42nd Gecko: That looks good to me, accepted!
@Genon: Well... Sapient undead are incredibly rare, it's almost impossible to actually get one intentionally. Which is why there's not more of them.

Additionally, necromancy is considered an abomination by the church(at least, the raising the dead type. There's some offshoots of it that have medicinal uses and communing with spirits of the dead isn't viewed poorly), so someone who could even attempt it just being around for the king to ask it of them is pretty much impossible. Let alone the king asking them to begin with.
@Ammokkx: Naoko's wandering around, there's a few other NPCs that exist but are currently inactive(I could even just post sketches of them and have you pick the one you like the most at that rate).

Hikari's nearby, still, as well, if that helps.
"That's exactly it," Chise responded, with a small nod. The brightly-smiling Hina nodded as well.

"... Wait wait, you do go to our school!?" Hina asked, suddenly, rounding on Hanako as she did. It seemed as if Himeko's mild teasing had managed to convince her that Hanako had been disingenuous about her age the previous night. Not that it took a lot of effort to convince her of such a thing, and at least Chise seemed more dubious about the matter, instead giving her friend a bit of a look before focusing on the task at hand.

Chise had planned ahead considerably more, for that matter. If Himeko was a magical girl... hadn't Hanako offered an alliance? In that case, couldn't she be expected to either stay back, or perhaps join in, if they ended up fighting Himeko? The miko was an older girl, and probably knew her powers pretty well(if she was a magical girl) which made her pretty dangerous. Of course, that relied on her getting her powers earlier in life and not recently, but... well... there was a lot of moving parts, okay? The point was Chise had a plan, and it was a plan she felt pretty confident in!

But they first had to determine if Himeko was a magical girl in the first place, and either get somewhere secluded or stall until it got darker out.

The black-haired little girl glanced wistfully at the sweets shop. ... Maybe getting somewhere more secluded could wait.

"First..." she paused for a moment, then got a piece of paper out of her backpack. On it, in quite neat scripture, was a set of questions. She had to make it convincing, after all!

"... What was it like growing up as a miko?"

@RolePlayerRoxas@Raineh Daze
@LuckyBlackCat: Missed mentioning you, sorry!

@Raineh Daze, @RolePlayerRoxas: You scene can continue as it is, a little retconning means it can be taking place currently rather than during the school day.
"... So... she was that strong?" Hikari asked, shifting awkwardly as she did. She didn't really know how this stuff worked, but the oni girl had seemed pretty strong, even if she'd ended up running off. It wasn't like that didn't make sense, given she was using an oni as her power source. Though, was that her Concept or her Archetype? The small brunette wasn't certain. It sounded like it was something that could be either, based on what Tokiko had said about them.

In any case, the rest of the conversation went smoothly. As did the rest of the school day, as expected nothing much particularly happened while she was in class. The Hex Night was meant to be a secret, after all, so there was no way a magical girl could ever start a fight in broad daylight without facing the consequences.

Soon enough, it was over.

It was still quite light out when Hikari left school, perhaps a little faster then usual. As soon as she had finished her duties as class rep, she was gone as quickly as she was able.

She still didn't know her archetype. The fireworks made her think her concept was either Festivals... or Fireworks, with the former seeming more likely, but her archetype... was there a hammer related to that? Besides, she had to train more too, didn't she?

At the very least, Hikari knew she had to stop someone like that Kagami from being able to claim whatever wish she wanted.

The people who appeared next, now that school was out, were likely the last people that Hanako wanted to see at the moment. The honey-colored side-ponytail and the long black hair would be immediately familiar to her, given she had seen them just the previous night. This time, however, both of the little girls were clad in school uniforms, given that class had just let out.

"If you eat too much sweets, won't you get too soft?!" Hina could be heard crying out, as if she had absolutely no ability to control her own volume.

There were a few moments of silence on Chise's part.

"... No," she said, finally. It was the kind of tone that indicated that Chise had absolutely no conviction in her answer and did not, in fact, want to get 'too soft', but the allure of sweets was far too tempting. It seemed they had been going to the same shop as Hanako and Himeko, as well... it was only a moment before both of the girls noticed.

"Oh, Chise-chan, it's the girl from the shrine!" cried Hina, immediately turning to face Hanako. Chise turned, as well.

"... She's a miko-san too?" she asked, cocking her head slightly. But more notably, both of them had their eyes on Himeko as they approached...

"My name is Fujikawa Chise," Chise introduced herself.

"And I'm Hina! Minami Hina!" declared Hina, "We were doing... um... what was it again..."

"It's a school project," Chise reminded her, with a small sigh.

"A SCHOOL PROJECT ABOUT SHRINES!"
