Harley reappeared with the key to her new room and she smiled at Trinity. "You are lucky. Not too many people could surprise others with the type of power they got. You can. You could totally take an enemy by surprise. You don't look like a bodybuilder chick whose muscles are bigger than her boobs are. Personally, I think that is ugly plus what guy wants to date a chick who intimidates everyone with the way she looks." Harley picked up a bag out of the small closet. "I'd rather look innocent and be able to come out of nowhere with my power. You can do that and I kind of envy that. You get to be the swimsuit model who looks no more fierce than any other average girl and then you get to come out of nowhere and whack the bad guy with a tree you uprooted. How kickass is that?"

Harley was totally excited about learning all of the cool powers everyone had gotten. "You ready? I checked the bed in there and it has totally awesome support and a good mattress. It's brand new. You should have no problems with it. I'd hate to think of you having back problems from sleeping on a bed that was less than decent."Harley lead her to the new room.

Darric used his burner phone to call an old illegal business associate named Radar to help him make contact with the Caretaker. Radar had no idea that his associate Daniel Varicke was not who he said he was. With a little encouragement he agreed to make a call and verify him with the Caretaker. Darric got off of the phone and told them that they were waiting for a call and then they could head to the orphanage.

In the meantime Darric looked at R0se and asked her, "Okay R0se I need to know who you are going in as and how old you are going to be. I'll need background information on both your and Willard's undercover persona's. I'll need your names, ages and you will both have some sad story that Daniel won't give a damn about. Do think on those and be ready when I ask for them."

Vampires in the Shadows-closed

Shade Nightwalker

Shade and Sara got out of the car and Shade put an arm possessively around Sara and they walked into the bar. The music and noise died down to a low roar immediately. Several of the vampires gave looks at him and more looked at Sara. One of the vampires named Gretchen slowly walked over to Shade and she gave Sara a cursory look and then ignored her. "Your maker killed my brother. He ripped his heart out with his bare hands!" Shade glared at her a moment. He had never liked Gretchen. She was one of those vamps that wanted to screw everyone she could and she wouldn't forgive him for turning her down repeatedly.

Shade could feel the tension emanating from Sara and the rest of the bar. "I don't know anything about it Gretchen." He walked past her pulling Sara with him. "If you don't like it get the fuck out!" More than half of the bar seemed to back Shade up. "I'm sure there was a good reason for whatever Alex did. Since this is HIS bar you should get out, Now!"

Gretchen was raging and she balled up her fist. Sara was watching every flicker of movement she made. Sara used all of the things that Shade had taught her in observing vampires on the edge. Just as Gretchen moved to attack Shade Sara stepped in and punched her in the throat. "Leave bitch!" Eliciting a shriek of pain from the older vampire. Sara's speedy movement and training allowed her to out maneuver Gretchen's recklessness and strength. After several moments it was clear that the baby vampire was more skilled but she was going to lose because of her age.

Gretchen was throwing her around like a rag doll. Shade reached into the fray and he grabbed Gretchen by the hair and yanked her back causing her to scream like nobody's business as part of her hair was ripping from her scalp. Sara got up and broke a chair taking the wooden leg and as Shade let go of Gretchen Sara jumped on her and staked her through the heart. Gretchen immediately exploded into a pool of goo on the floor. Sara, a bloody mess looked around the room slowly and challenged with venom in her voice. "Anyone else?"

Harley looked at Trinity in awe. "YOU? Really? You are so little. I know how to fix your bed problem though. We can put you in one of the couple's rooms. The beds are bigger and they have twice the supports the singles do. Come on get your stuff together and I will go find you a room. There were empty rooms before Day 0. We can get you in a nice room that should work a lot better for you than this one is." Harley smiled happy to be able to help her new friend. "Oh and thank you for not leaving me there to be stepped on in the cafeteria."

Harley got to her feet and opened the door. "I'll be right back with the key to your new room." Harley smiled and thought to herself about how strange it must be to suddenly be unable to sleep in a bed because you suddenly weigh a lot more than you did but you still look like a swimsuit model. Harley chuckled to herself and headed for the Commander's office. Once there she looked at the wall and the keys for the double rooms. Finding a key to a room that was closer to her side of the bunker she grabbed it, marked it off as Trinity's and went to the room to make sure of it's condition. Harley was pleased with the room so she headed back to Trinity's current room.

"I'm back! I think you'll like it a lot better than this one."

Darric went into his private apartment behind the pub and got ready for his mission. He decided not to shave. It gave him a little of a scruffy look that went well for criminals. He gave his hair that slightly greased look with some gel. After that he walked naked into his bedroom and threw on some jeans and a tank top then put on his biker boots and his leather jacket. He was actually very much at home in this look. After he filled his pockets with his essentials he walked out and went back into the debriefing room and went over to Rose and Willard. "You guys almost ready?"

He could see how excited Willard was and how R0se obviously disapproved of his participation. Darric was all business and he reassured R0se of Willard's safety. "Don't worry about him, we'll have his back and we won't allow him to get hurt." He looked her in the eyes as he high fived Willard. "Right little buddy?" He grinned at the boy.

Harley woke up a little groggy and she realized she was not on the cafeteria floor like she remembered. She was laying on some kind of makeshift bed. It was better than the cafeteria floor but not nearly as comfortable as the regular beds. She sat up and looked around. Sitting against the wall was one of the other girls. She hadn't really gotten to know her but she knew who she was and she was about the same age as Harley. Harley remembered Trinity as always being quiet.

"Trinity? Who carried me in here? I tried not to pass out in the way but my energy was failing when I left the reservoir. What happened to your bed?" Harley crossed her legs sitting indian style and smiled. "So what power did you get? I'm so excited about having a power that means I can be of use, but boy when it wipes me out I'm gone like that!" Harley snapped her fingers for emphasis.

Okay guys I'm out for the night. Hopefully I'll get a chance in the morning before the little one gets here to hop on and see what Rumi writes. I can so see Trinity tossing her around like a sack of potatoes. Lol
