I've told this story a lot, but I started RPing when I was playing the MMO City of Heroes. I saw people talking IC and I asked what they were doing. They told me and I joined, eventually coming to like it. After that, I played other MMOs and RPd in them, but often the community was too chaotic and bad so I gave it up for a time. The RP bug bit me and I eventually found my way on to here.

The first place I technically was roleplaying in was probably runescape though it unknowingly. For real probably youtube. I kind of regret my youtube roleplaying days for a number of reasons.

Same RP that I've been involved with for 3+ years now. It used to be a speed-posting RP (balanced by the fact that it heavily involves the forbidden art of one-liners, but I digress), but it's moved on and slowed down over the years as we all got older and more busy. I'm just happy it's still kickin'.

Well I wrote a lot when I was little and made a lot of OCs, but I never really roleplayed until I was in highschool. That was about 7 years ago? Maybe a bit less or more. But the first place I really started roleplaying is a bit embarrassing.
Ponychan.
I started roleplaying on a imageboard from My Little Pony. I stayed there since they had a dedicated /rp/ board even when I stopped watching the show mid-season 2, because not many sites had the format.
I have since been getting into moving here.

My earliest rps were on Neopets starting roughly 10 years ago. Once neopets rps started dying off, I hovered around gaia and email based 1x1s, but never really settled anywhere and kept getting dropped with no warning or response on my emails. At this point I also rp a bit on rpNation. It doesn't really help that I can be too fussy when it comes to plots that I want to join.

I've been writing stories for a long time. When I started RP'ing, I was 11, and it was on an anime site where I watched Naruto 'cause I didn't know about subs yet. It was called DubbedAnime, doesn't exist anymore, though. The site had a chatango chat where a lot of people RP'ed. Later on when I made a friend in middle school we started RP'ing in notebooks as if it was a play, and also via phone calls/just talking about what our characters were doing.

Minecraft roleplay servers, of all things. I know, say as you will, it definitely shows I'm somewhere on the spectrum, but that's where I got my kicks from. dropped the game shortly afterwards, but kept the intrigue of roleplaying. Actual first eloquent roleplays took place here in the guild. I have created five accounts on this site already, just because I enjoy writing as different people. Have been here actually for well over a year. A meta-roleplay if you will, eh?

About 15 years or so ago and it was a Final Fantasy crossover role play with FF7-10 characters.

It was advertised through live journal or something similar and later on free made forum. It didn't last that long, but then I found a forum soon after and I discovered M/M role playing and fanfiction. haha It was a fun time and nostalgic thinking back on it, but things do not last forever and the forum eventually shut down.

I've grown so much since those days.

I started rping on the subforums of planet Minecraft. Hehe that was a long time ago when I first got the game. So many school rp's I'm pretty sure one of mine migrated here and that started me onto these types of sights.

Ooh man... back when MSN rooms were great. You could create your own... such good times. Then I migrated over to Yahoo! rooms when MSN shut down. All the while me and a few friends would constantly write up posts to one another in note form at school.
