It's that time of year again. A select number of trainers from around Sinnoh are chosen to partake in the "Gym Challenge"-- a contest in which these youths take strides in defeating each of the region's gym leaders in order to partake in the Champion's Cup. Yes, these trainers may take their first steps out of their home with bright eyes and their sights turned to the horizon, though most will return home as failures.

Our story will begin in Jubilife City, where our characters have all arrived for the celebration of Sinnoh's prestigious Gym Challenge. The festivities will stem late into the night as the region honors the ones who dare take on Sinnoh's elite.

Of course, our trainers' journeys will not be smooth ones. While some might be friendly towards one another, they must remember that they are all rivals that strive to achieve the title of champion. As these characters carry out their travels, they might see that the Gym Challenge isn't the only thing they should be worrying about...

While the Gym Challenge occurs only once a year, it spans roughly three months, starting in mid June and ending around the middle of September. Twenty trainers are chosen and endorsed by senior trainers, gym leaders, or other prominent individuals-- sometimes, even the champion themselves. Not many trainers are able to get past the early gyms. Much less are able to complete the Gym Challenge at all, and even fewer are able to get far in the Champion's Cup. Thus, Sinnoh's Gym Challenge is an event that is televised all throughout the nation and is highly revered by people of all ages.

Upon reaching the each town or city, each Gym is expected to be completed within a timespan of about four to five days. If the trainer cannot defeat the Gym leader in that period, they are disqualified from the Gym Challenge and forced to return home.

The Champion's Cup is the last stretch of challenges that a trainer must confront before they face Sinnoh's Champion. This portion of the event lasts about two weeks on its lonesome and occurs between the remaining competitors of the Gym Challenge.

Trainers participating in the Gym Challenge have a choice in picking their starter Pokemon. However, the starter Pokemon must be first-stage in its evolutionary line and pass inspection before being permitted into the challenge.

Inexperienced trainers are usually suspect to losing their Pokemon in battles. The death of a partner is difficult to handle for some and others often do not overcome the grief of such a loss. While fatalities in Pokemon battles can occur, referees in Gym battles are there to prevent most of them from happening. Battles outside stadiums are not monitored and the well-being of the trainers' Pokemon falls entirely on their heads.

Sinnoh's elite is composed of the eight Gym Leaders and Champion of the region. Each Pokemon trainer is expected to beat the eight Gym Leaders before they are able to attend the Champion's Cup.

1) Oreburgh City's Olson
2) Veilstone City's Savvanah
3) Eterna City's Daichi
4) Hearthome City's Cho
5) Pastoria City's Atsushi
6) Canalave City's Gabriel
7) Snowpoint City's Gwen
8) Sunyshore City's Lester

Sinnoh's renowned Champion is named Shiro.

1) Post on the IC at least once a week and be active in the OOC/Discord overall. Plotting, bantering, and everything else is super fun to me!

2) DO NOT GHOST/DROP OUT/DISAPPEAR for random lengths of time without notifying the group.

3) I will be accepting at most 6 or 7 other people.

4) I usually accept people who create the best character sheets/ideas and are the most active; this is not a first-come-first-serve RP and I will not be accepting everyone who declares interest. That being said, I'd appreciate it if you could make your sheets look pretty-- add some color and all~

5) I'd prefer friendly players who are nice to not only myself but everyone in the group.

6) I'd prefer a cast that doesn't have an influx of males/females-- I do love my romance!

7) I'd prefer if people don't strive to be OP. I expect some challenging of power there. Even then, when there are battles, I want them to be resolved cleanly and fairly between players.

8) I prefer to play with 18 year olds or older.

Okay, different question: I'm sure we'll catch and evolve Pokemon on our journey, but would it be reasonable to be "competitive" with non-fully evolve Pokemon later-on? I've always been a big fan of the anime-ish teams, where there's a mixture of evolve and non-evolved partners. Mostly asking 'cause it sorta influences what I have in mind for a starter.

@Sunbather If you're asking if you absolutely need to evolve every single member of your team, then no. You can have all of your team evolve or none of them! You should just keep in mind that evolved Pokemon are almost always stronger than the ones that aren't evolved.

Oh, of course! But I mean, in the show there would often be a few trainers that do quite well without evolving (of course, Pikachu is kinda an exception, but generally!) Just wanna make sure I would be allowed to not be dead weight throughout the latter half of the journey by sticking with an earlier stage?

@Sunbather

Considering there's no mentioning of stats and such within the CS I'd imagine this should be a solid yes. I think the whole "competitive" side of this is more so up to debate between players, rather than pure stats on Pokemon.

Of course, this is coming from a person who made a character with goals outside of PVP which I don't have terrible interest in as dick-measuring is not a sport I prefer. I do like battling for decent story-reasons tho, because some wins and losses can be beneficial for development of a character and their story

@Sunbather I'm not sure, that's completely up to you and how you choose to write it. If you wanna be a little safer, I'd suggest you evolve everyone. But if you have an idea of how you'll write and keep up with everyone else's team, then you could always experiment with it!

Okay, great! I don't care about the battling TOO much, I just wanted to make sure that if I go with that route the endgame of the roleplay doesn't default to "Yup, I suck compared to everyone else!", which would be pretty limiting. Thanks!

@Ambra working on my CS at the moment, but before I finish is it okay to have a starter with a hidden ability? If not its not a big deal, just that the hidden ability for this Pokemon is a perfect fit for the character I have in mind.

@King Cosmos Depends what's the starter and hidden ability in question.

@Sunbather We're kinda not accepting psuedo-legendary line starters. Sorry I didn't say that before.
