Miyama Town - Abandoned Home - Jacob Ainsworth

@Reflection

Time flew by surprisingly fast when one was busy with things that they were passionate about. With a wistful sigh, he rinsed his hands off. Wonderful. All cleaned up. Not that it took that long, since there wasn’t much left anyway after he was done with that woman. Nodding to himself, he poured himself some tea, chuckling a bit at the motions inside his own shadow. A little trump card, if a bit weak. It was only natural though, given that he was only beginning to “foster” it. Not to mention, he was a bit busy with other things as well. Soft panting made him glance to his side.

The familiar in form of a dog wasn’t anything special in comparison. Just some “minor” combat capabilities. Good for distraction at most. But every bit helps and it always felt a bit awkward to go around with nothing by his side.

Rubbing the dog’s ear, he hummed in thought. It was perhaps a wise thing he didn’t lose himself to passion. It would have been incredibly sloppy and a gentleman was anything but. At the very least he was fully aware of what his servant was capable of now. And he already had some good ideas on what to do with such skills. Or rather... vivid daydreams, so to say. The thought of an army at his call. The prospect of burning an entire territory and ruining it. Suffice to say, he was looking forward in using such skills in a proper way.

As he noticed the “invitation” far off in the distance in the West. How... quaint. A fancy talk so soon in a war? Well, it made sense, he supposed. Better to have some conversations before bridges were burned so to say. However, he didn’t feel much like going there himself. With that in mind, he closed his eyes, savoring his tea, before contacting his servant.

“Well, while it does sound amusing, I suppose most people won’t take too kindly to my presence there.” He stood up and reached for his cane, twirling it before lightly tapping the ground with a smile. “So if I can beg your pardon, I would like to take a stroll. Whether or not you accompany me or if you go to this... Banquet is up to you.”

The night was still young after all! And what better place to take a small look around than the Native District? He needed some raw material after all. Who knows, maybe others shared his opinion and a magus was taking a stroll as well?

Mehdi Al-Baliya'al

8,000 Feet Over Foreign District

Flight. Its not an uncommon thing for a well off magus to experience. There's all sorts of techniques, spells, and Mystic Codes that enabled one to fly. As a well off scion of an ancient family, of course Mehdi had soared through the sky.

But as the wind, fog, and cold whipped around him, he grinned like a loon all the same. But as his Servant circled through the clouds, bright lights and explosions popped to the West, catching his attention.

Mehdi whistled.

"Somebody's confident." Leaning on their shared connection, Mehdi spoke past the sound and noise to the Baron.

"Let's give it a bit, and see if our date decides to skip us for someone else tonight."

Jack
"Beantown" (Workshop), Shinto Town
@Cu Chulainn

Oh? There was a party going on, apparently.

Sad. Jack wanted to go. Mr. Tree would probably have a great time there! But, they'd already made plans for the evening. Mr. Tree had to roll around in the dirt a little bit, and Jack had to get his beauty sleep.

They could cancel their plans, but that felt a little wrong. Jack had to rest, or it was unhealthy, and they couldn't have that! Maybe they'd have enough time to attend after they'd both rested up? Let's see, he had to finish up with dinner, then do his stretches, then get his eight hours of sleep, and then check on his friends. The party would probably be over by then, which was sad, but maybe there would be another one.

"■■■■■■ ■■■■■, ■■■ ■■■ ■■■■■■■■?"

The plant he looked at didn't move, but whatever response it gave made the legumancer smile slightly. Morale was important, after all, and the most basic kind of morale was checking in that one's friends were okay!

Well, enough sitting around, time to start on the evening agenda. First up, dinner. And what a dinner it was, specially prepared for such a momentous occasion.

"Thanks for the food~"

Speaking only to himself, Jack looked to the plate on the table in front of him, on which were three beans. Unceremoniously, he lifted one bean up with two fingers, and popped it into his mouth. So began the delicious dinner.

...

...come on, were you really expecting anything else?

Stelle

Hotel Room at Shinto Town

The preparations for the Holy Grail War took more time than Stelle expected. Setting up a workshop in an unknown land was a complicated task. In the end, it took her most of the day just to do that and prepare the summoning ritual.

"To think that such a ritual really exists," she said to herself as she finished drawing the summoning circle in a room dyed by the crimson light of the setting sun, placed the catalyst—a rusted clawed gauntlet—on its center, and began the incantation:

"Let silver and steel be the essence.
Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation.
The endless revolutions of time are what I pay tribute to.
Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall.

Seal the four cardinal gates.
Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill.
Shatter.

Hear me.
Swear yourself upon me and let your sword guide my fate.
Now I declare.
I am the one who becomes all the good of the world of the dead, I am the one who lays out all the evil of the world of the dead.
Arrive from the ring of deterrence.
O guardian of the scales!"

Now, all that was left is seeing if the Ritual worked.

Tohsaka Manor, Foreign District

Sitting on the roof of his manor and watching the sunset with Maider, Ron smiled proudly as he looked at the results of his full day of preparation in his hand. The culmination of the skills he obtained from traveling the world at a young age... the creation of the "waffle taco." Waffles fried to a golden crisp, folded and filled with organically grown strawberries, home-made whipped cream, drizzled with with rich chocolate sauce, and topped with the best peanuts Tokiomi's money could buy. Such a snack was only proper for the 'strongest' Maider, after all. Overall, Ron was having a pretty swell day. He summoned the world's strongest Maider, finally got the house clean, sent his birds out to fly around, and even got to see some fireworks! As Ron looked at the nearly fading sun, a silly thought came to his head...

If Maider's feather duster can delete Sunny D stains, does this mean her vacuum cleaner can suck up the entire sun?

Ron shrugged, taking a bite of his waffle taco as he closed his eyes, entering a moment of bliss...

"Hey, Maider," Ron suddenly turned to his Servant, his mouth full, "You think-"

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH

The Tohsaka heir looked up to the sky, his attention was quickly drawn to the red plane soaring through the sky, hidden in the clouds!

"Maider, look! That's a Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, otherwise known as the 'Stealth Bomber', by Americans! That's the same kind of plane that the United States used to drop the nuclear bombs onto Akihabara in the Civil War!"

Wow... to see such a rare plane, too! Ron was very happy about how today was going, ignorant of the ramifications of an "American bomber jet" flying overhead would mean.

"What could it mean, Maider? Do you think they're giving us Christmas gifts? Isn't it a bit too early for Christmas, though..."

Francesco Dimani - South Moor

Francesco took a long drag from his Mystic Code, savoring the aroma of the burning magical herbs. His eyes swept over his garden, admiring the handywork of a single half day.

A thick carpet of Vampire Vines covered the ground as far as the eye could see, neatly hidden under what for someone not knowledgable on magical botany might have seemed like normal grass but which was actually the cursed Hungry Grass, bulbous bright red and white plants hid rows upon rows of teeth and fire spitting maws, scattered seemingly at random all around the cottage. Planted among the various plants if one were to pay attention they could spot some milky white blooms, the legendary Moly standing humbly among the lesser plants, while closer to the home many sweet smelling trees could be found, bearing plump fruits that seemed to be inviting anyone who noticed them to partake in their sweetness. Finally, behind the house, other mundane trees could be found alongside various "medicinal" plants and a patch of what looked like white roses.

Guess it's time to begin. Francesco took another drag from his pipe, activating his Circuits as he did so.

His consciousness shifted, wakefulness left him but he did not fall asleep, his body remained upright, his eyes fluttered as his mind expanded past his human form. Much like one of his plants his mind rooted itself to his surroundings, touching the wards he'd erected during the day, al the plants and other living beings around him, even brushing against his Servant, noting the line that tied them together.

Let's do this. First he "grabbed" the wards then carefully "tied" them together with most of the Molys, their resistance to magic spreading and forming a protective perimeter that would hinder any Master and Servant that tried to intrude, then he touched the patch of white "roses" in the back of his house, tying them to himself.

Only one thing left. This time his mind reached nearer, under his own clothes, for his oldest companion who stirred slightly in response to the probe, a wordless question being transmitted trough their connection. I've got something for you Attis. The amalgam responded with the closest thing to delight it could produce and set itself on the plants that Francesco pointed him at. One of the Lotus trees was consumed in less than a second, the plant monster expanding to quickly consume his meal, some of his tentacles reached towards one of the Piranha Plants not giving it any time to defend itself before it was assimilated, even quicker he gobbled up a Moly, some of the white "roses", a patch of Hungry Grass and Vampire Vine and some of the "medicinal" herbs.

A shiver ran trough his form as he made his way back to his master, his form shifting wildly as he accomodated his new mutations before reverting to his initial form and slithering under Francesco's clothes. A sense of contentedness was transmitted trough their bond which made the smoking magus smile in amusement before he shook his head.

He turned his head to his Servant. "Well Strategist, I'm all ready to go. Time to begin this War."

Tohsaka Manor, Foreign District

Having spent the entire day making her rounds of the manor, the small girl circling around the property and crossing through the labyrinth of rooms over and over again as she reinforced its structure. Sure, her Master had asked her to 'clean up' the house, but she could both tidy up anything that appeared out of place while subsequently setting up her territory to strengthen the household. It seemed her Master was busy doing...well she wasn't quite sure what he was doing, but it wouldn't be very hero-like of her to not double up on her work under her Master's order.

At the end of the day he approached her, two unfamiliar objects in hand. Hou Yi leaned forward, a curious spark in her eyes as she observed the colorful treat in his hand. A...waffle taco? She had never heard of such a spectacle, but if her Master were to look at her with such distinct elation, there was no way she could possibly believe this form of food to be anything but delicious.

On his request, the two climbed to the roof of the house, setting themselves up to indulge in her Master's culinary masterpiece and watch the sunset. For a war, this was quite different than what Hou Yi had expected, but that's not to say she didn't find herself enjoying the moment.

Twitch.

That bright golden gaze of hers shot to the sky just as Ron spoke up. Eyes narrowing, realization dawned on the Servant.

"Master, we are nowhere near Christmas and that's no Santa Clause."

With a quiet click of her tongue, Hou Yi rose to her feet immediately, eyebrows furrowing as she kept her eyes on that red plane he pointed out.

She could feel it. She could sense it. There was a servant in that plane.

Blink.

Thankfully Hou Yi's clairvoyance was more than ample for her to clearly see every detail of the plane, memorizing it's build, and every detail of the two men inside, memorizing their faces. Without taking a second to look at her Master, she materialized her bow from that morning, the falling sunlight seeming to catch on every curve and angle of the weapon from legends past.

Turning to the side, she closed one eye. An arrow appeared in her right hand.

Deep breath.

Her right elbow cocked back, the girl drawing her arrow along the bow as she took aim. Had her Master began to protest, she would drop the arrow and allow the plane to pass as long as there was no show of hostility, but given her history in battle, Hou Yi could not overlook this moment.

What should have been the silence of a calm sunset paired with waffle tacos had been disrupted by the mechanical grinding of an aircraft overhead. She would return the silence once more.

You are Hou Yi. She whose shots can cause the fall of nine suns. You whose aim has never faulted. You whose target has never left unscathed. You are a hero. Release your arrow.

With her mental preparation complete, the Archer aligned her arrow with where the plane's engine cluttered and cranked, the girl prepared to once more remove a bothersome existence from the sky she loved.

The pluck of a sudden lack of tension in her bowstring. The silent slicing of her arrow flying through the sky. The golden gaze of the Archer watching the plane as she awaited the hit.

Banquet of Kings, Academy

Arriving at the site which had thrown up the request to parlay, Orpheus throws back his hood, taking in the air as he looks over his master by his side. “Now, remember Master, if you don’t want to perform, then don’t stress yourself trying to. This is just a test run, your first little live concert. You haven’t been practicing for too long, but I think you’re well on the road to getting better and reaching proper Music one day.” Ruffling her hair a little, he continues onward.

“But mostly, we’ll be here in our capacity as musicians. Set the mood, witness the interactions, and record the stories being told.” With his advice doled out, he steps up to the entrance of the banquet site.

“Knock knock, anyone here?”

Servant Gunner

8,000 Feet Above Foreign District

He was keeping an eye below when he spotted it.
[Eye of the Mind(True)]

An arrow rapidly coming towards them! "Hell!" He banked hard to the right and down, initiating a divebomb ahead of schedule.

[Disengage]

It barely scraped by the hull and left only minor damage. Such was War that they didn't have the luxury to wait for an opportune moment, Manfred let gravity help him as he pulled into a screaming dive and letting those who hadn't spotted them before certainly hear them now. "Master I am starting now and opening fire!"

Coming in at a slight steep angle he lined up his sight and let loose with his Machine Guns, blazing hot lead towards the target without the usual worry of overheating or reloading, he could do so with gutso. With it being a relatively large target and sitting still, this was Manfred's easiest shooting in his life.

The Matou's house soon meet a rain of bullets.

Spring-Heeled Jack - Assassin

Hotel Room at Shinto Town/Being Summoned

As Stelle began the ritual, the air in the room started to thrum with magical energy as the lines of the summoning circle took on a subtle glow. As she continued into the third and fourth lines, the prana within the room was thick enough to raise goose bumps on exposed skin and make the short hairs at the back of someone’s neck stand on end, the light of the summoning circle now bright enough that it could no longer be dismissed as a trick of the light.

By the second verse the rusted gauntlet in the centre of the circle started to vibrate slightly, rattling slightly as the metal plates hit against each other. The rattling became a tremor by start of the third verse, the light of the circle now replacing that of the sunset to bathe the room in a deeper, more ominous crimson glow. At the end of the third verse, as the final words left Stelle’s mouth and completed the ritual, a cloud of pale white smoke, lit from within and turned a pale red by the light of the summoning circle, filled the room.

The smoke swirled in eddies driven by some unknown source of wind, producing areas of thicker smoke that played tricks on the eyes, making you see figures that disappeared a second later only to appear somewhere else, sometimes two or three at a time. The smoke faded, gradually dissipating until it was possible to see clearly again, the phantom figures that filled the room disappearing one by one until only a single figure remained. Then, that too disappeared, leaving Stelle alone in an empty hotel room.

All at once the remaining smoke was sucked back into the centre of the summoning circle, the rattling gauntlet stopped at once and went still as the light of the circle died instantly, not even bothering to dim or fade as it went out like a switch had been flipped. The room was silent, the quiet seeming even more oppressing for how much commotion there had been just a moment ago.

Long seconds passed, three then five then ten, and still no Servant appeared. Then, right by Stelle’s ear, close enough she could feel hot breathe against the shell of it, a voice whispered to her. “What are we looking at?”

Shinto Town - Copenhagen Base

@Remon

"Hippomenes... Do you think he'll show up?" Ariadne pondered out loud to her servant. "I know he said he doesn't do deliveries, but I did invite him to a good time. Do you think he got it, or did he miss it completely?" Letting out a groan, the mage smacked her head on the table. "It's no fair... I meet one nice guy and he's already married to his woooooooork! It's a coffee shop, he should have closed down and been here by nooooow."
Ariadne threw herself onto her bed, grumbling the whole time. Ugh... She didn't have the patience for this! Maybe she should do something to draw him in? Should she? That'd give her away. Buuuut, she did chose Copenhagen for several reasons. Mostly its natural synergy with her magecraft, and the second being that people might be risk adverse to attacking a local bar.

"Well, maybe I should. Considering that invitation sent out earlier is probably drawing in all sorts of folks, we should be safe. We're on the other side of the bridge after all." She mused out loud. "In that case... I could probably do some kind of greater ritual, and nobody would be around to stop me." She brushed her fingers through her hair. She finally frowned, and thought it over. "Well, it he does show up, Rider, you'll be my bodyguard. The other two... Can be bustboys." She looked over to the two men standing in the corner. Her makeshift satyr guards were... Strong, and could easily kill the average mage in a fight. The problem being that they were... Well they weren't the kind of folks she'd have a cup of wine with. After all, they were basically glorified golems.

"Alright, I'm as ready as I'll be. Let me just ponder the party."

The world passed Sunderban by. For all the oddity of their presence, none of it was felt by those around them, barely observable. It was through any effort of theirs that mankind barely noticed him -- it was their default mode of being, after their years with the Tiger Heir. Although they were no Dead Apostle, they had functionally been raised by one, trained to behave like one, and no hematophage worth their existence allowed themselves to be spotted by the mundane, and they did not make it easy for the supernatural to do so either.

There was a sort of simple contentment to be found in 'unobservation', something many of the people in that very city would never be able to experience. To be human was to be caught in a web of observation, each sense connecting to the senses of others in some form or another. Naturally there were those who could escape that web through drastic measures, but that was a course of action reserved for a unique kind of person -- the kind of person who lacked the 'rabbit' in their being; the kind of person who feels no grief in the absence of connection, or better yet celebrates it.

But that was rarer still. Of course, there were those people who liked to believe themselves 'alone', the sorts who lock themselves in their rooms for weeks on end, or indulge in the underbelly of society, but they were hypocrites. To isolate oneself in the middle of the web was impossible, even if the threads were of a different composition. The connections were still there, influencing them and their state of being.

Sunderban had the unique disposition of being able to enter and leave the web at will. For the sake of their own desires, they had allowed themselves to connect once more by entering Fuyuki City.

Central Native District
Traditional Compound

Problem: A point of operation was required within the confines of Fuyuki City.

Solution: Establish one

The process of getting from a problem to the desired solution was always the complicated part, but Sunderban was no stranger to appropriating buildings for their own use. Through creative application of their unique condition and the correct alterations to the dosage, suggestibility could be inflicted upon individuals with no real need for preparation outside of that which takes place within Sunderban's body. It was a balancing act between being able to convince an old couple to go spend time with their grandchildren in Osaka, and causing immediate hepatic failure in two already fragile bodies.

But precision was to be expected from Sunderban. Living with what could be called a body of death had honed their control of the ability to an absurd degree in order to avoid instances of complete system failure in those around them. It made for bad business when one relied on being discreet.

With a base of operations and a cover story in place -- Sunderban was to be the pleasant and well-read great-nephew of the couple from the mainland, looking after their property while they were gone -- all that was left was to implement the appropriate 'rituals' to grant them a place to rest after a day of work.

Feng shui was not an art for the haphazard. Establishing the appropriate placing of particular objects and furniture within a set area allowed for the creation of boundaries which served to benefit Sunderban. Although they were not a true student of the art, there had been some education of it built in with their alchemical studies and the martial arts. Principles carried across in such arts, Sunderban found. An eager student of the deeper secrets of Hung Ga Kuen could become a near equally successful practitioner of wu jing or feng shui should they apply themselves with the time and effort expected, but the time element was what truly stopped most from becoming absolute all-rounders. Dabbling was the name of the game, take what was needed for a particular practice rather than inundating oneself with too many options.

As such, Sunderban converted the home into a location ideal for themselves, taking the same 'principles' he applied to himself and using them on the boundary of the home. It became quiet and ignorable. It became alert and guarded. It became the den of an assassin, hidden in plain sight.

A place to store weapons and rest ones head. It was perfect for their purposes.

Sunderban sipped from their cup of tea, looking out at the garden in the moon's calming light. It could use some work, but for two seniors it was a good effort.

"Berserker. Party as you will. I will simply watch from the sidelines, if you are not offended by the notion."

A simple order, but it was such an order that she would understand best.

Summoning a Berserker was not a curse. It was not as ideal as an Assassin, but a Berserker of her kind had her uses, and she was at her most useful when she was free of complexity. In her freedom, they were similarly free to act as they saw fit. She would be loud and bombastic in her actions, while Sunderban was anything but that.

"... Or you could relax for this night. I care not what you decide to do; I am flexible," they said with a care-free shrug, taking another sip from their tea.

Sunderban could work with a Berserker and their ways, even the one he had summoned. There was more than one way to hunt a tiger, after all.

Caster was silent, even as his Master spoke to him. They had looked at several locations for their work to begin inside of, and all he had said to indicate dissatisfaction was a simple "Not this place," each time. Eventually, Hippocrates had to settle with the location of his clinic. The city was woefully under-equipped by his standards, but that was also to be expected from any hub of civilisation -- rarely were they equipped to adequately care for those within it.

One often had to make do with the tools and equipment available to them, but Hippocrates the Second was in a most fortunate position for a Doctor; he had no need to concern for such things. Within him he contained the death throes of the Gods, often called something far more dramatic than they actually were. They were machines, and like any machine they could be repurposed. For Hippocrates, they traded in raw power for the ability to manufacture that which he required for his work.

Nurse's Office
Fuyuki Academy

And so, Hippocrates went about converting the nurse's office of a school into a high-end medical suite. He had to move one of the beds to make room for his equipment, but taking into account the increased average rate of recovery which was brought on by the additional space the lack of one bed was an acceptable compromise.

"It's hardly ideal, but it will serve its function," the Doctor commented, hands behind his back. The glow of his mask was brightest among the new devices of his clinic. A minor benefit of their location was the ability to educate -- for every young person of foolish heart he attended to, he could instil the value of good health upon them through a lengthy lecture. Good diet, plenty of exercise, and balanced humours were the best way to avoid ill health, and Hippocrates knew enough about the era to be aware that diets in particular were compromised by some utter filth.

He moved to the window with perfectly paced steps, looking out over the school yard at night. Indeed, the Father of Medicine had not expected to be employed as a school nurse any time soon, but it was an important role nonetheless. The wellbeing of the youth was the wellbeing of the future. Undoubtedly his Master had some other motive, a most frugal method acquired through his life of penny pinching and tactical living, but Caster was hardly interested.

The world had come far; he was proud of the distant students who utilised his methods years after his death, and glad for the many new discoveries made along the way. Fleming's utilisation of penicillium chrysogenum in particular had caught Hippocrates' eye upon his summoning and subsequent awareness of history, although he saw flaws with it that could be improved through careful engineering -- bacteria could adapt as well as any other creature in a harsh environment -- something the careful application of the Mysteries of Asklepious would help him with greatly.

Mankind had come far, but there was much more to do. His grand work was to continue. The rumble of scientific triumph was sounding in his heart, urging him forward towards the future he saw in his minds eye -- to surpass the frail, to become more than matter and body, a process which began with the defeat of 'illness' and 'death' with the hands of man.

The shortsighted would hope to stop him for momentary glory. The battle Hippocrates fought was for glory eternal, owed to humanity as a whole.

Even still, Hippocrates the Second would Do No Harm.

"This ritual is diseased, Mr. Oscuro," Caster said. With the mandatory preparations were out of the way, he turned his attention to other matters. "It is currently undergoing a complete system failure. And we Servants, as extensions of the system, are also diseased. I suspect that the malady ravaging the Holy Grail War will cause a shutdown of all vital systems before the conflict's conclusion. This will, in turn, result in a loss of your ability to succeed. The diagnosis is..."

Hippocrates paused, turning to look at his Master. The Caster leaned forward slightly, raising a finger.

"Hubris."

He went back to standing upright, the hand returning to join the other behind his back. "I will require a team of professionals if I am to operate and remove the source of the system failure," he advised the magus, turning back to face the outdoors. "Or we could try it alone. Either way, I leave the decision to you. With that in mind, I believe there are... improvements I can make on your being, if you are consenting. It will make these next days much more tolerable for yourself."

Whatever Hippocrates saw with his eyes, the reflection was hidden by his mask. The offer was genuine, but the nature of that generosity was as veiled as the doctor's face.

"A Night Out In Shinto Town"

Shinto Town, City Proper

A beautiful girl in a beautifully lit town. The girl walked past men whos eyes were caught in hers but all she could do was ignore them. Even those with girlfriends and wives would turn their heads, rubbernecking in her direction. Fixing her silky smooth hair with a deep breathy sigh, a sigh that could somehow be heard and give their defined, masculine faces a shade of red.

She finds herself roaming each building, if this building was still [OPEN]. She'd enter, try a sample and then leave. It seemed like she was looking for something or rather... someone... specifically... some people. Her suspicions were confirmed with a small smile on her face, taking a seat on a bench park where a lamp post conveniently lit up the moment she collided with the hard wood.

An inhalation of fresh air and she turned to a man in glasses who quickly turned away blushing. The girl replied with a smile and dismissed herself with a simple handwave. "It's quite alright sir, I'm waiting for a friend. That's all." Her tan hands clasped together with a fake smile she concocted, a blooming girl waiting for a boyfriend this late at night? Or something far more raunchier? The man excused himself regardless since he thought he might make the situation awkward.

Then she drops the expression altogether.

"Master Walter. I have sensed multiple Servants in the city as I roamed just as you ordered. I can not pinpoint where exactly. At the very least, I wasn't discovered so you don't have to worry. Did the golems I touch give off the result you wanted?

Serenity asked in a concerned telepathic tone to wherever her Master is, like a kid trying to please their parent.

William Flur
Fuyuki Park, Night One

Mentions: @Crusader Lord

It was a cold night tonight, a night filled with tension and glory waiting to be claimed. But everyone was sneaking around, trying to find each other's bases. It was all dreadfully boring to William honestly, he never was one for tracking people down whenever he wanted something. No when William Flur, the Modern Magus of Flowers, wanted something he would have someone get it for him. Unfortunately he didn't have such a luxury here without his butlers and staff, so he would have to find another way to make others come to him. "Yamato, are you ready?" He asked the Servant as he picked up his staff from the ground.

Whether he was ready or not didn't really matter as William got up from his cross legged position and planted his staff into the dirt beneath his feet and the wind whipped his coat around, a steady supply of flower petals beginning to fall from the insides and dance around him in the breeze.

With this Declaration, Let All Know
This Holy Grail War Hath Begun
I, William Flur, The Modern Magus of Flowers, and The Strongest Berserker
Shall Accept All Challengers

His voice reverberated in the wind, shaking the petals around him that had grown to become a veritable storm of pinks and reds and yellows and a myriad of different shades and hues. With his last word spoken, he planted one hand on his staff and the other firmly into the air, pointing upwards as the winds suddenly exploded skyward. With this declaration, war had been declared. His message lay firmly planted in the sky above Fuyuki Park, a rainbow of flowers painting his intent clearly.

Taro Case File
Location: Commerce District - Commercial Office. Nightfall
@Scallop

The game is afoot.

The Agency office is closed for tonight.

The doors are shut in tight, binders close and pieces of paper scattered everywhere on the floor. This place is a mess even for office standards.

Beneath the rubble of waste, paperwork, overdue bills and the smell of leftover process foods, A summoning circle was drawn beforehand.

Kotaro wakes up from a well-rested slumber, dropping a piece of chalk from his open hand from exhaustion. The young detective seems to have dozed off conserving his mana for something greater of a purpose. That or he just passed out from his absurd amount of sugar intake he had during the entire day.

Either way, Everything is according to plan™.

The caped magus' preparations are set. Everything is in motion, the wheel of fate has spun. Time for the truth to unravel.

Kotaro reaches out and utters the incantation with such conviction.

The circle slowly reacts to his calls. Etching a red symbol at the back of his hand, A burning sensation, like being branded as such.

A magical vortex builds up and sweeps the papers and everything in between in the room.

It was untamed..

Too.. much..pressure...even.

Kotaro was thrown off his feet and flung himself a few steps back, conveniently seated at his office chair to cushion the fall.

He struck an 'I've been expecting you' pose to lessen the shame. composing himself to an unknown guest, attempting to see the FRUITS of his labor.

"I believe introduction is necessary, make haste now.."

That Morning
Fuyuki Bridge

_________________________________
The girl's energy was... surprising, to say the least! Still, it was a little infectious too. Zoe, huh? The Great Chosen One? She certainly didn't seem like a bad person. Jigen found himself smiling along with her as she continued with her spiel. He'd paid close attention to everything Saber had told him about the nature of the Grail War, how at the end only one pair would be able to claim the wish once everything was over, so the thought of an alliance was a bit strange to the boy. Even if it was useful in the short term, eventually they'd have to betray each other, right?

Jigen's smile softened a little as Zoe went on. She was genuinely enthusiastic and seemed to have a passion for life in general. She was nice - Jigen found himself liking the foreigner. Still, despite her best wishes...

"Um, Zoe right?" the student gave her a bright eyed look and clasped her hands in his own. "You seem like a nice person! But, I won't accept your offer."

True, the brazen offer of an alliance could have been many things: an advantage that would protect him, a trap that would kill him. A ruse to betray him or possibly the best chance he had to survive.

However, Jigen didn't think of any of that.

"If we worked together, eventually we'd have to fight anyway, right? I wouldn't want to fight a friend."

He smiled wide. "Instead, let's compete as rivals. You told me your name, so I'll tell you mine - I'm Saito! I'll trust you, a chosen hero, to fight fairly, okay? Nice to meet you!"

With a quick shake of her hands, Jigen bid her farewell and continued across the bridge into Miyama. Maybe refusing her was a dumb thing to do, but he didn't feel any regret in that moment. Instead, he thought about the other things she said. That the "Hercules" was an impostor, and that she had a Greek servant of her own. Were they still people that Saber would know, or was that presumptuous? All Ancient Greeks knowing each other...

"I am getting kind of hungry, maybe I should have let her buy us lunch... oh well! I'll pick us up something on the way back!"

...

True to his word, Jigen had picked up a pair of yakisoba meals and a few onigiri from the Lawson nearby his family's apartment on the way back from Miyama. Apparently servants didn't really need to eat, but that didn't mean they couldn't. The pair's trip was mostly successful in that they'd been able to pick up a few pairs of sweats that could fit Saber and Jigen was able to bluff as to why he needed them in the first place. He'd apologized to all his teachers and was assigned extra cleaning duty, but it didn't bother him at all - there were more important things going on!

The day had wore on quickly and by the time they made it back to Jigen's home, the place was empty. Not unusual, and in fact it was a minor blessing. No need to explain why there was a big muscular man tagging along. Jigen led them both into his room, carrying an extra futon from the hall closet. Similar to eating, servants apparently didn't need sleep either, but he'd feel weird if he didn't at least offer.

"Well, welcome to my house Saber. It's not much, maybe we can work on a base of some kind tomorrow, but for now I hope it works. Make yourself at home! Since most of the fighting is at night, I'm gonna try and look up some stuff to help us. Um, you don't mind if I look you up too, right...?"

Well, that was his plan anyway, but staying up all night and summoning a servant was pretty tiring. After a while, Jigen fell asleep at his computer.

Present Night
Shinto Town

"Okay! I'm up and ready!"

Jigen did a few stretches in the modest room, something he wasn't really used to doing but he figured it might help. His impromptu nap had re-energized him, but man was it gonna be bad for his sleep schedule. Outside of the window, two brilliant lights shone. One was a bright firework, the other a clear message. Both were across the river. The bridge they'd taken yesterday was a route Jigen was very familiar with, getting to either location shouldn't be too hard.

"On the Miyama side? It shouldn't take us too long... looks like one is over the park and the other..." Jigen leaned close to his window, squinting. "A bit further, maybe the mountain or... Aw man, I really hope that's not my school."

He turned to his partner.

"Wanna check it out?"

Stelle

Hotel Room at Shinto Town ⇒ Shinto Town Streets on route to Hilltop Church

Stelle didn't even blink while the ritual took shape and activated before her eyes. Letting this information escape would be a waste of once-in-a-lifetime resources, which she wasn't very keen on doing.

The lack of anything, standing on the summoning circle didn't distress her when she could very well feel the connection to her Servant through the Command Seals burned on the back of her hand. The idea that it might have left as soon as it was summoned didn't escape Stelle's mind. However, before she tried to contact her Servant, it decided to make himself known with a whisper.

"A man of theatrics, as expected," Stelle said, letting out a puff of smoke from her pipe. "It's a pleasure meeting you, Assassin. I hope you are willing to lend me your strength," she said without turning around to face her Servant.

A moment later, a certain Flower Mage's declaration would reach both of them, being carried by the wind blowing through an open window. "Excellent. I take it that you heard the message as well, Assassin? In that case, why don't you begin your work by spying at who'll answer that challenge?"

"I'll leave the specifics of how to proceed to you. Meanwhile, I will search for a more suitable place to set a permanent workshop," Stelle said before leaving the room, carrying a single suitcase containing one of her completed familiars.

Walter Garbury
Shinto, Town proper

Walter really didn't know how to do incognito. All he had done to disguise himself from his usual attire was to take his blue jacket off, not even replacing it or taking off the matching hat. He ran a hand through his hair with a sigh as he kept to the shadows. Back at base, he had left the golems to defend the base, on alert and if anything happened to them he'd be able to sense it and would be able to get back as quickly as possible. Shinto wasn't too far away from the harbor, hence why he had chosen this place to figure out if they could find any other masters and servants.

A sudden yelp would be heard by anyone roaming the streets, as Walter did a little jump as he felt the message and flares, both announcing the war was actually afoot. He took a moment to catch his breath and assessed the situation. The Academy was where he felt one invitation for a brawl and there was another at Fuyuki Park. He gulped as he felt his heart drop. Chaos was already going to be filling the streets tonight, at least two other Masters were on the prowl for blood and he was out of the base with Assassin.

Speaking of Assassin. he turned a corner and a bright smile washed over his face as he spotted her in disguise, walking over slowly with a smile, looking around himself idly. He sat next to her, staying just a bit apart so he didn't accidentally poison himself.

"Hey. Just got here, did you feel those messages too?" He squirmed a little as he thought about his next move. "I say if we don't know exactly where everyone is, I say you go to the park and see if we can spot anyone going there, kinda work out the competition y'know? Figure out who we're up against, maybe even follow them and figure out their bases?"

he got up and dusted himself off. Motioning for her to follow him as he made for the bridge. "let's cross over, and well...shit, go to the park, stay undetected and figure this whole thing out. See any moments to swoop in, be my guest I guess" He rubbed his temple and nodded to her, leading the way.

Momotaro
Saber of the Peach
Commerce District, Commercial office

Legend told of the heroic boy, Momotaro. He went on a journey by himself, a sole mission to save his people from the tyrannical Oni and steal their treasure. His world was small, his story was small. Yet his influence and his memory. Even in death, he could feel how people remembered him. Was he real? as he but a myth? Who cared, all that mattered was that people loved him and celebrated him throughout the centuries, he was a hero in the eyes of the people and that warmed his little peach heart.

Before the brave detective, mist swirled and lights flashed before finally, the mist separated and a figure stood there proudly, a silhouette that slowly morphed into that of a proud warrior. Barely standing at 5'3, Saber blinked a few times, confused as to the nature of how his master was addressing him. His robe brushed against the floor as he tapped his feet on the floor, testing it out before his eyes lit up.

"Japan! Sunrise Kingdom!" He announced loudly with a bright grin, adjusting his tie in his hair before walking over to him and peering at him with a bright grin. "Apologies! Where are my manners, my honor is lacking! Momotaro! Firstborn of the peach, of the saber class! You must be my Master! Tell me! What is your goal in this so-called war Master!" A bright grin washed over him as he bowed, before holding his hand out. "And you are?"

The familiar smells and atmosphere around him made him really comfortable, this was where he belonged, and this detective had given him another chance to enjoy the land once more.

Homurahara Courtyard(Banquet of Kings) - Academy

[@----------]

So... This was the place. The king of Persia pulled up on a motorcycle. Seemingly unfitting for a king, but he found no reason to draw the attention of the world by marching in riding upon a rhinoceros. Nothing against the rhino, it was a marvelous species from the deepest of Africa. But, there was benefits to such a massive creature, and there were disadvantages. One major disadvantage was in how it handled corners. Something Rider had discovered to much easier on this motorcycle, especially when going at top speed. Besides, if a rhino took a corner too fast, it would destroy a building, not the same for a motorcycle.

He pulled up at the corner of the street, adjusting his furred coat, and slicking back his snow white hair. The king stepped on over, and stood to the side of the obvious Caster servant, one he had spotted very briefly earlier by the bank.
"I take it you're a musician?" He said, standing besides the cloaked Caster for a moment. "I couldn't help but overhear you and your master as I was pulling up." He added, as if to explain his question. He had no interest in fighting the Caster, or his master. Not that he couldn't, but because he had no reason too. He'd rather enjoy a peaceful night of kings and their business, than starting a fight with a local musician who had dreams no higher than simply plucking a string and singing a tune. For now. He might kill the man on a whim if the music choices were poor.
"Out of curiosity, can you play 'Istanbul, not Constantinople?'"

Xerxes didn't wait much longer, before simply stepping forward, and waving his hand to usher Caster in behind him. He doubted the man was a king, but he had overheard enough to know that the man was there to be an entertainer. A Caster seeking to start a scuffle would be ill-advised to draw attention to himself, or bring a supposed Master with them as well. Besides, if anybody argued, the duo could be his plus two.
There was no reason to really wait by the door after all... He was invited.

Taro Case File - Vibe check on Fuyuki Park
Location: Commerce District en route to Fuyuki Park
@Scallop

There was utter silence.

A grin began to form from his lips as he could no longer keep the serious act. Kotaro's repressed smile began to crack and soon he burst out a hearty laugh that fills the confined room.

"Fuahahahaha! At ease, Saber of Peach, I know you mean well, no need to be formal about it.." He said waving his hand, dismissing Saber.

"Here have a Candy" Kotaro earnestly smiled and simply bolted out of his chair, handing a piece of delicious morsel to Saber's open palm.

"Aight, It's only fair that you get a briefing of what your master is like, or better yet your Partner. Saber, Momotaro." Kotaro clapped.

"The name's Kotaro Toshizo, I'm a detective, an individual who upholds the justice system, a buster of myths and is considered one of the good guys, that's kinda my whole shtick." The detective proudly smirks and continues.

"As for my motives for the grail war itself, To be blunt, It was more of satisfying my curiosity on my behalf. My apologies if that doesn't sound heroic." He shrugs.

"As for now, I'm a bit short-staffed, and you just happened to fill that position in.." He said munching down on a treat. "And to be honest, I think you're perfect for the job, a well-known demon slayer of your time." He said, pacing himself towards the edge, seeing the busy streets from high above the office window.

" from which era you came, the world hasn't much changed ever since. There are demons everywhere, vile fiends of which are good at hiding in plain sight, guising themselves as common folks, escaping the law's reach and it's our job to unravel them.." He said looking back at Saber.

"Also, it appears there's a message in the sky tonight.. quite peculiar actually and yet it intrigues me such a way. Come, Saber! grab a coat and let us investigate, It's also a good chance to see what Japan is like in this age and time first hand."
