It all started over a century ago with the birth of a luminescent baby. Ever since that incident, many people from around the world began to develop different kinds of supernatural abilities, otherwise referred to as Quirks. The world quickly became a superhuman society and as of today, about 80% of the world's population possesses a Quirk. In a world swirling with chaos, the profession that everyone once dreamed about and admired became reality. That profession is...not quite yours yet.

A Hero is a symbol of hope and peace for the entire world. You are not a professional hero. You are a student, learning to become a hero. Komei Academy is the place to achieve that goal. Formally known as the best hero academy in the world, but was recently outranked by a newly built establishment. Despite the drop in the rankings, Komei Academy continues to serve as a great school for young heroes to come.

Brief Information

The Academy was founded twenty-five years ago in Musutafu, Japan. Currently, the second youngest hero academy listed among the top ten rankings.

A steel wall and invisible barrier surrounds the premises to prevent villains or any other outsiders from entering. Only someone with a Student ID Card or Special Entry Permission ID can enter.

Komei Academy was formally known as the #1 ranked heroic school in the world. Their twenty-one year streak at the top was abruptly ended by one of their competitors. It was shocking at first, but Komei's overwhelmingly positive reputation prevented any grave repercussions towards the school. Komei accepted their defeat with pride and viewed it as a positive outcome. The next generation of heroes were on the rise. Komei's current academic system wasn't enough to provide the best education to their students. Komei Academy drastically reformed their lesson plans to avoid being left behind time itself.

Students are separated into specific departments and classes. Your character will be attending Class 1-A, in the Department of Heroes. This is a boarding school, so you will have your own dorm room. A key to your room, your Student ID, along with your school uniforms should have been delivered to you before the start of the semester.

Quirk Info

A quirk is a special, superhuman ability an individual can possess. Quirks are generally unique to their user, and are classified in multiple categories. Quirks are inherited genetically, and typically manifest in children by the age of four. A child can manifest either one of his parents' Quirks or a composite of the two. There are several laws and procedures to ensure the conscientious use of Quirks. During elementary school, children receive Quirk counselings, in order to learn how to use their powers responsibly. Public display of Quirks are against the law, except in cases of self defense, such as when one is under attack or preventing someone else from being attacked.

Emitter Class: These quirk class grant the ability to either release certain substances, or alter materials around them in certain ways. While most emitter-type Quirk users generally have a handle on their own "emissions", it's also possible for users to hurt themselves from coming into too much contact with their quirk.

Transformer Class: User of this type of quirk are able to take on a temporary alteration of some kind. Transformation quirks allow the user to temporarily "transform" their body in a variety of manners, sometimes enhancing existing features or perhaps adding new features to the body altogether.

Mutant Class: These quirks can have a wide variety of features and abilities depending on the individual, but the common similarity seems to be that these quirks are a part of the user's physicality. As a result, these Quirks are always active, but generally allow the user the greatest degree of control.

Personality:
Despite his seemingly harder outer shell, he is actually quite the laid back individual, that is, unless you get to know him in which case he is quite the handful, laughing and carrying on. Sometimes needing to be told "shutup" just so some sanity is kept. His father taught him how to be a gentleman and it is shown in his actions and simple gestures. Actions speak louder than words in his morals and values and will treat those accordingly.

Now, if and when he overloads himself with energy and hurts himself, his mind seems to rewrite itself for a short period of time and he can take on just about any personality or persona and when it wears off, have no recollection of what had happened except for whatever blowback follows. He has master the art of apologizing because of this.

Background:
Garin was born in Germany, but raised in Japan because of his fathers job requiring him to travel. At the time, his father had been given a promotion requiring him to move to Japan when Garin was only 6. The move was hard for his parents but he was young enough to worry more about playing and being a child.

Japan was an interesting country, its culture and people were very different from what he remembers Germany being like and the expectations were even higher. It didn't take long before Garin had gotten into his first fight and it was over something that was insignificant but enough to show him where he stood amongst those around him but this never stopped him from trying to be the best. He thrived in school for the most part and joined sports in the meantime. The language was hard sure and the people were a bit harder on him but he found the right group and hung around them for a time. It wasn't until the age of 9 did his quirk kick in when he was in school. He had the flu and didn't feel good, requesting to go to the nurses office. When Garin had gotten up to leave, his body seized before he discharged his first pulse, shutting the school's electricity off for a minute before it came back on but that would be the least of his problems, the kids around him needed medical attention. Some had gotten nerve damage from the blast and others ended up in seizures or convulsions. His parents were called in and told he would no longer be allowed to go to school because of his ability being a bit dangerous. Instead an alterative was given, Kosei Academy. Garin's parents agreed to this and he was transferred quickly.

Quirk: Blitzkrieg (Lightning War)
Garin has the natural ability to create electrical currents and fields. What aids him in this is due to a couple things. His body's natural electrical current is well above the normal human and this is also possible thanks to the body's ability. He is able to create his own electricity however, this can cause heavy strain on the body as too much will shut him down or send him into a seizure. Sturm can generate large electric currents by way of a highly specialized nervous system that has the capacity to synchronize the activity of disc-shaped, electricity-producing cells packed into a specialized electric organ. The nervous system does this through a command nucleus that decides when the electric organ will fire. When the command is given, a complex array of nerves makes sure that the thousands of cells activate at once, no matter how far they are from the command nucleus. When activated, it releases around no less then 1 volt per cell equaling to more than one million volts. It is enough to stun an enemy or send them into muscular convulsions if not death depending on the health of his opponent. He has learned slightly how to advance this ability to shoot out a wide and branching arch of "lightning". Unfortunately it is still in its developmental stage and needs a lot of work but it works similarly to a tesla coil striking at a metal rod but with less accuracy.

Talents:
Garin has been classically trained in the violin, cello and piano but prefers the violin. He does play the guitar as well but mostly as a hobby. He does have a little bit of hacking knowledge. While in japan he has taken up martial arts so he does have some hand to hand experience but just enough to get by.

Personality:
As the quote unqoute "grandson"of the current Yamaguchi-Gumi leader, he has inherited the prideful and violent aura that comes with the name Yamaguchi-gumi as well as the aggressive attitude and brutal opinions but he can back this up with fighting prowess. He is never one to give up, willing to go as far as death for those close to him, the ride-or-die phrase befitting of him.

Background: Gi's father was not the greatest of people. Working a shit job in a shit area dealing with shit people. Stress needs to be released somehow right? Well, through the wonders of alcohol he snuffed his stress with, so long as it stayed in his system, that way he wouldn't remember beating the young Gi for problems others caused for him. His mother wouldn't step in, not anymore at least. After a broken nose, three cracked ribs and a fractured jaw, not including the hospital trip, his mother no longer attempted to stop the father from hitting him. Luck still favored Gi and his mother, as the cops were called and eventually the father was taken away. Unfortunately, this put his mother and himself in a financial predicament. Gi and his mother were on the streets by the age of 6 but still managed to continue his one hobby he had, martial arts.

This is when Gi knew what he had to do, hustle. He started with pickpocketing and was caught the first two times, earning a very hard ass kicking before figuring out what not to do. Slowly he branched out into other crimes like stealing and boosting. This had gained the attention of a certain yakuza family by the name of Yamaguchi-gumi. They promised that they would take care of him and his mother if he came along. Gi didn't take long to say yes. With their help, he honed in his skills and helped teach him the martial arts he wanted. They saw potential with the boy, and they had no idea the amount of potential. They saw it in him more so when he picked up the blade, seemingly to finesse it with ease. Rusty in style and attack but a battle prowess that complemented the rustiness of his movements.

It was by the age of eight did his quirk kick in when a gang fight broke out at a local noodle shop. A gun was pulled and fired at him when he was scared and cornered. "Move...Moooove.....MOOOOOOOVEEEEEE!" His eyes flicked red and in an instant he dodged the bullet and managed to get into the opposing gang members personal space and stabbed him, killing him instantly. After that he collapsed, having exerted all that energy to dodge. These actions in this event had gotten the attention of the leader of the family. Yamaguchi-Gumi requested Gi stay by his side and continue under his guidance.

Years had passed and over time with much training and exercise, he had managed to control his quirk with a bit more ease, though still imperfect. Granddad Gumi as Gi calls him, encouraged him to go to the academy in the hopes to better himself before returning to the family. With this he set off to the school, intentions to do just as he was asked, but fate could have other plans. He has started liking the school and the people he is around. Thoughts of becoming a hero have grown in his mind and his connection to the Yakuza is slowly dimming. Is the possibly of Gi becoming a hero high? No one knows, not even himself.

Quirk: Raikiri - Mutant
Raikiri in Japanese roughly translates to lightning blade, and that is exactly how his quirk can be described but by his speed. His eyes give it away first, changing to a red while the pupils split into three. He is able to move at high speeds and react faster than most, a byproduct of his body's natural muscular and nervous system. But what makes this "Lightning blade" is the fact he complements this with his prowess and finesse of the blade. The combination of speed and edge is quite the vicious quirk. However, the one thing that he lacks is stamina. High speed movements do exert a lot of energy and currently he can only last about fifteen minutes in consistent movement. Should he exceed this or attempt to, he is looking at muscular damage if not worse. If he does exceed it, the worst possible thing to happen is sudden cardiac arrest. Besides the outer workings of his quirk the inner workings are interesting. His muscles are shaped and formed differently from most with a much more lean design despite its build. His heart usually pumps twice as fast as everyone else when in a calm state, including those who also have quirks but will triple in speed when exerting energy. Should he exert more than necessary, his heart will begin to pump out of rhythm and begin causing pain with the worst case the valves and aorta tear sending him into cardiac arrest.

Talents: Through the years of law breaking, he has learned many unneeded but useful skills. It had taken time but he is practically a pro with lock picking and hotwiring. He has been training kenjuitsu and kempo since he was 5 and has become quite the fighter, though more so with handling a blade than anything else. Not a talent per say, but he has learned how to cope with physical pain a bit more so than others thanks to the violent background he has had.

Sazama Nyko

Appearance

Personality: Listless, almost always relaxed though there are some emotions that show through depending on the situation. i.e.: waking her up from a nap = anger. But never will she pick on anyone or show a mean side (unless you really manage to make her mad). Sazama puts a lot of trust in her friends especially when she has to rely on them when she cannot use her quirk and falls asleep. She's kind to almost everyone unless you give her a reason not to. If that's the case she'll just ignore you since it takes a lot of energy to be angry.
Background: The Nyko family was plagued with a powerful yet harmful quirk. In fact, out of all the 10 heroes that ever existed in the family, 8 of them died in action: one of them being the Hero Celeste, Sazama’s mother. The first time her quirk manifested it was life threatening. Not knowing the limitations 6 year old Sazama nearly got herself killed after passing out and falling from a bridge. Luckily it was the help of a hero that saved her life, and ever since that moment she knew that being a hero was meant for her. However, she knew that her quirk would turn into her worst enemy if she was not careful. Her father, who married into the family did not want Sazama to become a hero. Against her father’s wishes and the motivation to become a hero like her mother, she applied to Komei Academy.
Because of constant training in order to improve on her quirk time limit, she is known to sleep anytime and anywhere. But despite her intense listlessness it won't stop her from being a hero!

Quirk:
Name: Celestial Takeover
Classification: Transformation
Description: When activated, glowing tattoo like markings appear on her body (mostly arms and legs) enhancing strength and speed. The tattoos also emit what can be described as celestial flame meaning when touched can burn like fire. However, there is a time limitation on this quirk. The longer the transformation is taking place, the more energy that is being used. Once time is up/all the energy has been used, her body forces itself to sleep/passes out (if she overextends meaning energy=0%) until her energy is regained past 30%. Typical time of use is 15 – 20 minutes at the moment when energy reaches below 10%. However, she can use this quirk on and off meaning if she is transformed and her energy level is at 80% she can stop transforming and carry on normally. Energy % will passively regain 1% every 5 minutes unless she is doing any physical activity. In order to gain above 90% energy, she will need to actually sleep. Sleep: 1% = 1 min

Talents:
Because she can’t rely on her quirk all the time since there is a time limit and huge consequence (like falling asleep in the middle of combat) she is adept in martial arts.
Sazama also has a very unique talent apart from being an avid fighter: the ability to sleep virtually anywhere. Any surface and any situation, on multiple occasions she fell asleep standing up (All of those occasions involved the teacher asking her to stand up from her desk for falling asleep in class). Because of this she also developed amazing flexibility.

Gahana Shoujyo

Transformation Class


Gahana is far from an early riser and the morning makes her extremely sluggish. It's also the only time that you'll find her hair not up in a tail, just unedited and flowing free. Until fully awake her reaction skills, general intellect and responses are lower than average. She'll spend most of the morning getting ready to go out and applying makeup and accessories.
Gahana can talk too fast for some people to keep up with and often uses slang and text abbreviations in everyday speech. Her tone of voice isn't ear bleeding high but is rather high, she'll habitually end her sentences with 'Ne' to soften her sentences and add an atmosphere of cuteness to her side of the conversation. Her exterior demeanor is that of a confident, happy and relaxed girl but her true feelings are that of wavering attacks of self doubt and identity dysphoria.

Gahana's mental state is deeply intertwined to how others perceive her. Her fear of being rejected outweighs the fear of harming herself to impress others, both physically and emotionally. With that in mind, Gahana prefers to be called 'Hana'. She prefers this name because 'Gahana' can be a mouthful and doesn't sounds as cute until it is shortened.
Whenever Gahana meets somebody new for the first time, her eyes dart up and down sizing up and accessing how to interact with this new person. She does this in hopes of winning over a new friend. If she can't make friends with just about as many people as possible, she can be crushed deeply emotionally in her mind while expressing a strong exterior shell. Although she attempts to make friends with everyone, the inner circle of friendship she prefers to be with are ones she finds extremely valuable and doesn't take the friendship with any shallow nature. Prioritizing discussion, an exchange of ideas and trust when deciding who are valuable to her and who are not. Generally Gahana can be compassionate and extremely helpful, but if lied to or betrayed she may never be able to forgive someone.

Gahana is indifferent towards animals. She's never owned a pet, when asked if she would like one, she rapidly shakes her head explaining that it's not worth the massive responsibility. Sometimes times with close friends she can be a little flirty. She's not a complete flirt as physical signs of affection trigger her transformation quirk due to embarrassment. When asked if there's anything she would change about herself, it'd normally be something along the lines of
"Nothing at all! Aw, well maybe I'd change so I could be even cuter!★"


Born April first, in Okinawa.
She lives with her mother and father, nether of her parents have a quirk and she's been an only child her entire life. Her mother was simple housewife, teaching Gahana house skills and everyday cooking skills whenever given the chance. Her father was an intense prosecutor for the district who rarely had time to play but always could afford expensive gifts for the family. That isn't to say her father was never around, but he just didn't have as much spare time as everyone would have liked.
Loving the area she lived in there were many places that she could enjoy friendship building activities alongside being a regular teenager.

Signs of the overdrive quirk appeared on Gahana at around the age of two. Her crying would be screeches that could shatter glass and form cracks in the walls. She could lift objects one hundred times her own weight as child. What her parents thought were fevers were actually he body reacting to the use of her quirk. In the beginning stages Gahana wasn't able to control it as easily, and often would pass out from over heating and exhaustion without realizing how long her quirk had been in effect. There had been a few incidents in which someone had gotten hurt. During Kindergarten a group of boys pushed Gahana to the ground. She cried for a moment, got up and pushed them back. The only difference was she had sent them flying into the air, crash landing into a tree. Another incident involving a car and pedestrian. Walking across the street at an intersection a wild car came out of nowhere, reacting fast Gahana placed her hands out to protect herself she unintentionally crushed the front half of the car whilst she still stood in place reasonably unaffected.

It was obvious she wasn't a regular teen. Did this dismay her from doing what she loved? No. But she did change. Frightened her family and friends might stop liking her, she constantly dotted on the thought of how to lose her quirk or change herself to avoid anybody knowing it existed. This identity crisis formed into a girl who was obsessed with all things cute, doing anything she could to be the cutest, overcompensating for that fact that her quirk was extremely destructive and 'manly'. The only thought on her mind is 'How can I get everyone to like me, and keep it that way?'. It wasn't her who found the academy, but while scrambling along the internet she found some kind of Hero Academy on a subreddit. It was made for people just like her, well, people with quirks, not some cute little flower like her.

"No way, you can't be a hero, that's for burly strong men. You'd just fail and everybody would look down on you."

The fear never goes away, but if she could become a real hero, then everybody would like her for her. After all;
"Everybody loves heroes! And nobody said they couldn't be cute★!

Overdrive

The Overdrive quirk is stimulated mentally. Sometimes at will and other times involuntary as with many instances with Gahana. When stimulated, muscle strength is increased to superhuman stats and adrenaline is constantly pumped throughout the body. This allows somebody with the Overdrive quirk to be extremely athletic and almost unstoppable. Whilst a person stimulated with Overdrive may not be feeling pain at the time, they are not immune to cuts, bruises and general trauma, the after affects can and may show signs later. The true downside to Overdrive is determined by how long it is in effect.
For only a few moments it'll simply make somebody sluggish.
Half an Hour, fatigue.
An Hour, extreme fatigue and rise in temperature.
More than two hours, fainting alongside a fever with muscle pain for a few days.
In addition, Gahanas' hair grows in length and eye colour changes.
