I think taking weird and obscure bits of continuity and shaving them into more substantial aspects of an overall arc is probably the biggest charm to these games. Have any of you ever done a clone saga? That was one of my favorite arcs in the original Ultimate Spider-Man.

The Clone Saga isn’t something I’m planning on touching, but I do agree that the Ultimate Universe probably did the best possible version of that.

But then we'd have to replace you with the original Wraith--the one who didn't claim lordship for himself. #RealLifeContinuity

I was going to do a very brief 'Clone Saga' that somewhat subtly mocked the years-long original during one of my attempts at Spidey, but, alas, these games never last long enough to get to those points. Funnily enough, though, I was also going to use Black Tarantula in an important role.

Thanks! Im really loving writing her, and am definitely excited for where I plan to take Gwen and the Classic Spidey villains. And I hope to make some not so classic villains like Black Tarantula worthwhile in the game

That's really cool. I think one of the good things about reinventing characters is that it gives you the freedom to tinker with the hierarchy of importance a little bit. You want Blue Beetle to be Earth's greatest hero? If you write it convincingly enough, he can be.

I toyed with the idea of writing Black Lightning for a while when I was trying to figure out who to play in this game (I even wrote a few posts) where I tried to do a similar thing: building a kind of eclectic cast of supporting characters built from minor Marvel villains.

I assume due to the recent emergence of Metahumans, local law enforcement agencies wouldn't have access or be aware of ability suppression restraints or the like?

I mean its only been a few months for most of these places so that makes sense. I imagine tech cities like Metropolis and Gateway are nearing some kind of breakthrough if they don't already have generation 1 prototypes. People like Trask are probably making bank with all of the lucrative contracts and funding.

Some kind of superpowered arms race.

Hm. Kind of makes me wonder how/if I want to address things like this with Stark Industries.

Honestly, I think I kind of see it as being a pro-choice type decision where Tony wouldn't feel it was right designing things that would clamp down on other people's rights to their own powers. Their body, their choice kind of thing.

But maybe he's just too wrapped up in his own business to care about designing tech that would be competitive in this field anyhow?

Not sure.

Which will be interesting in the long run but for the time being that means Creel is in a local jail cell with nothing to incapacitate his powers haha.

You think he's still in a local jail cell.

I'm sure SHIELD sent a response team to acquire the asset and transfer him to Belle Reve. Actually it makes me realize what I'd want to do as a secondary character if we're allowed a second slot. Jessica Drew just cleaning up the loose ends - tracking down escaped metahumans - and the like. It could be very fun. I might write a CS this afternoon just in case.

But without clones you wouldn't have Superboy, Bizarro, X-23, (Ultimate) Jessica Drew, the X-Babies...
