”All you need is a fresh start, right? Oh, If only you were born in a different era, maybe you would be something. A great warrior, a sage, a king, you could be anything! Well, let's not get carried away now. You're no egomaniac after all. You'd need a little bit of help. Something to give you an edge over the bad people that would steal your dreams away. Even so, I think you're lying to yourself. Yes, you'd still be nothing. In fact, I can prove it to you! I'm going to take you to an entirely different world where you can chase that fantasy. And you'll have as many chances as you need to get it right... ”

~Lord Talus

Essentially there are two different groups of characters: The Non-natives and the natives. Non-natives are regular people like you and me who got transported into another world. One filled with fantasy and wonder. The natives on the other hand have always been here, and none of that stuff is all that fantastical to them.

While this RP borrows from the Re:Zero setting, it will tell it's own story with it's own characters. Most important characters will be replaced with GM controlled ones, and the canon will almost certainly deviate from the anime. For now though it's more or less the same Re: Zero you've come to love.

The world is a fantastic one, filled with magic, different races, and anything else you'd expect a fantasy universe to have.

The story takes place in Lugnica about 30 years before the events of Re:Zero. It's the largest kingdom on the continent, and is overflowing with different cultures and economies throughout. There are a total of about seven main cities, and each has anywhere from two-hundred-thousand to three-hundred-thousand residents. There are many smaller cities however, as well as towns and villages that populate the country. Though there are fair number of of ruins, wild forests, and other mysterious places to explore. The world is largely wild and untamed.

A race war has just ended between the kingdom and the demi Humans. Tensions are high, and war criminals are still being caught. As you can imagine, there's quite a bit of discrimination against half breeds.

The city of Priestella will be everyone's starting location. Though the adventure will expand to the far corners of the continent.

Flugels Tree - A colossal tree between the Capitol and Priestella that serves as a marker for travelers.

Roswaal Manor - A manor in the countryside that is surrounded by villages. There is less prejudice against other races here, as the master doesn't peruse the hunt of witches. He's away, so his estate is currently managed by his servants.

Elior Forest - A frozen forest near Roswaal Manor. Former home of the Elves.

Augria Sand Dunes – A far eastern dessert ruled by powerful beasts. Most who come here never return.

The Witch Shrine – A shrine in the sand dunes. The Witch of Envy is sealed here. Those that can smell the witch sometimes get sick just by being near the shrine.

You have six elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Yin (Shadow), and Yang (light). The first four are the most common, with light and shadow being more rare. Most people can only use one type of magic, but there are rare individuals that can make use of more, usually with the help of a blessing. There are also those without any affinities for magic, and can't cast magic.

Each elements has it's own standard incantation, which are as follows:

Fire - "Goa"
Water - "Huma"
Earth - "Dona"
Wind - "Fura"
Yin - "Shamak"
Yang - "Jiwald"

The four most common magics control the elements, while the two uncommon magics control buffing and debuffing. By prefixing an incantation with "El", "Ur", or "Al", it is possible to modify the incantation to be stronger. There is no rhyme or rhythm to the incantations, although prefixes are known to increase the strength of the magic used, and it's not entirely necessary to even use them once the character has mastered their element.

There are many ways to use magic, But here are the two most common ones.

The first is typical magic. This is used by drawing upon a gate. A gate is a metaphysical “container” that draws mana out of the environment and stores it for you. Everyone's gate is different, from the amount of mana it can store to the amount of mana it can release at once. By opening your gate, you can release a small amount of mana in the form of a spell. You can damage or destroy your gate if you use it too much, which could cause you to die from mana poisoning. Using gate magic takes practice and experience before it is efficient enough to justify using it. No one is born knowing how to use their gate.

The second is Spirit Magic. If you hang out with spirits, they might start to like you and want to forge a contract. From there, it's pretty much the same as the normal way of casting. Just instead of drawing upon your gate, you draw upon the area around you and it's spirit energy. This will cause the area around you and even you yourself to slowly freeze. And your spirit can draw upon your mana to cast powerful spells. There's four types of spirits, little spirits, medium spirits, and full spirits, as well as Artificial spirits who were all made by the Witch of Greed 400 years ago.

If you wish to use spirit arts, you'll need to apply for each spirit in your character's arsenal. But the sheet for spirits is much simpler.

In this roleplay, individuals magical abilities can be represented by their tap and od. But for simplicity, we're just going to call them Flow and Life energy respectively. Flow is one's ability to discharge mana, while Life Energy is sort of like a sponge inside your body that allows you to hold onto mana. If that wasn't a very good example, a spell caster with low flow and high life energy can cast a lot of very weak spells. Where as a caster with high flow and low life energy could cast a single powerful spell, like Megumeme from konosuba. If you were to damage or destroy your gate through over usage, it would weaken your ability to cast spells. Some spells can temporarily reduce one's ability to use their gate as well.

The abilities of the ancient Witches of Sin, contained in individuals who possess witch genes. These genes can be passed down or inherited after certain conditions are met. But people with divine protections cannot take in witch genes.

Witch genes allow characters to use authorities, which are the most powerful abilities in all of Lugnicam, and their users should be feared. The Authorities are divided into different types based on sins such as the capital vices. The witch cult and the Archbishops are all wielders of Authorities. Different individual's authorities will manifest in different ways, and it's rumored that using them will drive one insane.

In this roleplay, Authorities are represented in two ways. Either you embody the whole sin, and you have the general canon ability for the authority, or you specialize in an aspect of a sin (like the Archbishops of Gluttony) and you’re able to tailor your ability to that aspect.

Blessings given to people by Od Laguna, or the world. They can come in just about any shape, from being gifted with swordplay, being lucky, or having all types of magic. People who have divine blessings know they have them and what they do, like they were born with the knowledge. Blessings with a low utility level are not that uncommon, while powerful ones are extremely rare. Having multiple blessings is even rarer.

Because Divine Protections are a gift from Od Laguna, non-natives will not have access to them when the RP starts, and shouldn't include them on their character sheets. They will most likely be acquired during the RP when characters impress Od Laguna enough that she decides to bestow them with one of these sought after blessings. Though Od Laguna will never bestow blessings on someone with witch genes.

Just like Lord Talus promised, you can try to get it right as many times as you'd like.

In a nutshell, return by death is a lot like dying in a video game. You just sort of revert back to a “checkpoint”, and the world is exactly the way it was when you reached that checkpoint. The only thing that really carries over is the player's memories. Almost as if at the moment of death, your mind was taken back in time.

All of the individuals who have been transferred to this world share this ability. Of course, there are a few rules...

-As mentioned, return by death resets everything back to the way it was when you reached a checkpoint. Just like a videogame. The only people who retain any memory of the world before the reset are people with this power. As you overcome major obstacles, the checkpoint will change.

-In this roleplay, the person who can trigger return by death will be a random character in the return by death group. This character is called the sentinel. When they die, the world resets, and everyone in the return by death group will retain their memories.

-If one tries to tell anyone about this ability, they are struck with fear. Trying to overcome this fear through force of will is not recommended. You may talk about it with others with this power, but not who the sentinel is.

-Natives will not start as part of the Return By Death group, but will have the ability to join it in the future. More will be explained once it happens.

-Because your memories transfer over, your character will remember that they bought the farm. They will have experienced death. That's not very pleasant, even the toughest of men will admit to that.

Short version: You will be able to reset the world every time the sentinel is greeted by death. They will be selected from people in the return by death group by the GM. And of course, it won't be given to anyone who might abuse it to ruin the RP. Natives will remain outside of the return by death group until certain conditions are met. For now though, their minds reset along with the world.

The story will be divided in to several arcs that make up the entire story. While there will be time to do whatever between arcs, most events that happen will be focused on the arc while it's happening.

You can expect lots of party wipes during arcs, as you'll be trying to figure out what needs to happen to clear an obstacle. With each reset, you'll be able to learn a little bit more about what's killing you or what has to happen in order to make a certain outcome more desirable. Most deaths will be planned, but well, accidental deaths can happen too. I don't pretend to know everything.

Once an arc is cleared, a new sentinel will be selected. Then you get to figure out who it is all over again. Ideally you wouldn't talk about it OOC, as your characters can't talk about it either.

Your characters are unable to mention return by death or that they've come from another world to anyone outside the group. Your character will be struck with fear if they try to, and things will get much worse if they try to push past it. Last warning.

The checkpoint will be decided by a GM, but it will usually be right after a sizable obstacle. Though there could also be one at the start or end of an arc. We'll try not to make it too repetitive.

0th post will contain a lot of useful information, like where the checkpoint is, discoveries you've made (Mono didn't kill the lad with tea) and stuff like the story so far and other information about the current arc.

Character death can become permanent if the checkpoint moves past a character's death. You won't be able to save everyone. But if you want to try, I'll be here to laugh at your attempts.

~ All forms of metagaming, godmodding, powergaming, and the like are prohibited.

~ Keep OOC drama as low as possible. If you do have a problem, take it to PMs. I'll answer within 24 hours most of the time.

~ Dicussing who the sentinel is OOC is not ideal.

~ If it's been a week since your last IC post without any word from you, I may take control of your character(s), and they might not be there for you to take back after 2 weeks. Though I may take control of your character sooner if they are pivotal to moving things forward. Depends on the situation. Notify me if you won't be able to post if you wish for your character to avoid the death penalty.

Alright, it will likely be sunday/mondayish before I can properly review everything. But you can post your character sheets right here. All character sheets need to be approved here before they can be moved to the character tab.

The character sheet is mostly the same, but there are a few small differences to watch out for. So make sure they are filled out correctly.

The setting is also largely the same. Same time period, slightly different start. For those of you keeping your old characters, you shouldn't have to worry about their backstory too much.

Do keep in mind that the power scale is going to be much lower to start this time around. So no shonen level city busters. Especially if you're a non-native.

If you need more information, just look through the OOC/character tab. This thing probably won't start for another week, so you've got plenty of time to make your characters.

Ashton Andrews

Artwork Originally of Jason Levasseur from Moonlight Apparition, a webcomic made by one Darkhalo4321; all credit given to her.

16 | Male | 148 | 5'6
YangJiwald | Non-Native | Human

Description

Ashton Andrews is a young man whose deceptively mild and bright appearance conceals optimistic ambitions that might lead to success or disaster, the latter if not tempered with patience. He is your typical Anime fan who nevertheless has other priorities than the shows he watches, and has a plan for his life and his future. He also has a pet pigeon and a family that he loves dearly.

Appearance Description (optional)

Ashton Andrews is a brown-haired boy who prefers clothes that match his hair; browns, blues, and dark greens. When it is no longer winter on his end, he prefers an ordinary T-Shirt, jeans, and sneakers when going out. His eyes are bright green and his build is lean, but athletic and reasonably muscled, although it is mostly hidden by his clothes.

Personality

Ashton is kind and tries to project an image of mildness. For the most part, this image is true, as on Earth, Ashton is genuinely content with what he has, with only the briefest of musings as to what could be. But at the same time, this image hides a facet of himself who tries to think and plan for every known occasion, a facet that emerges only when in genuine danger (which was rare where he lived). Due to this, he is driven, but can be tempted to ignore the interests of the group, especially when the other members have different goals. He recognizes this as a flaw in himself and tries to fix it before it grows into an inability to accept things that don't go his way.

He also has a boyfriend; he's bisexual.

Class

Ashton wants to be the diplomatic 'Face' of the party, and he thinks he is good at being both adorable and unobtrusive. He can also administer first aid, which is a skill that can be made redundant by merely having a Water Magic user around. If given time to plan out his further specializations, he plans to be a Rogue with buffing spells and a melee focus; he's not interested in sneaking around or stealing like a regular thief, but rather in agility and speed and being able to avoid hits.

Bio

Ashton was born in a medium-sized city in New England, to an ordinary, loving family. He was smart, prenaturally so for his age, and the praise he was given by his parents and teachers would have sowed seeds of pride in him, if not for an incident that made him think deeper - he found a wounded pigeon in his backyard.

Carrying it inside, crying, he asked his parents if they can help it; make it better. And although his parents were not veterinarians, they did their best to clean the bird's wounds and bandage its broken wing. The pigeon survived the night, and Ashton made it his pet. He was six then.

He had found his goal in life - to be a veterinarian one day. And he had his pigeon to thank for that.

As Ashton grew up, he had a moderate interest in Anime, mostly ones involving 'Mons and Giant Robots. In time, however, he would encounter the 'Isekai' genre, in which protagonists were transported to another world to live out their power fantasies. Cringing at each Light Novel he read, yet not able to stop, Ashton thought to himself; what if he were transported to another world? Would he panic, or would he do better? Would he die a horrible death, or would he proceed to introduce a technological revolution? Either way, most Iskeai stories were a waste of potential.

Best to continue on with his studies in animal (and just in case he wanted to branch out, human) medicine, especially when his pigeon was reaching the end of its lifespan.

When Ashton's pigeon died, the boy, then twelve years old, was sorrowful and sullen but quickly recovered. He was not going to dishonor his pet's memory by giving up! And so the young man threw himself to his studies more, but couldn't quite escape the urge to watch Anime (all genres) from time to time. He also began reading books of science and technology, economics and history, in order to compose, in his leisure time, an essay titled, 'Why Isekai Stories Don't Work'. Just something to amuse himself with while waiting for formal studies with animal medicine.

(Basically, said essay criticized Isekai stories for wish fulfillment and overpowered characters who were given everything and paid no cost for it. The text also posited that an actual 'transported to another world' story would have the protagonist either dying alone or be stuck in the lowest rung of the social ladder. Ashton also wrote that even with powerful magic and a helpful mentor, one would still have to pay a cost for success, even if it is the inability to function without help from other people in that world.)

And at present, he was happy, his essay had been written, and to cap it all, he had a new pet pigeon, Pidgey II. Life was good and he was not going to exchange it for the world.

As for his boyfriend, well, he has his own biography.

Flame Brooks

Artwork Originally of Lark Meadows from Moonlight Apparition, a webcomic made by one Darkhalo4321; all credit given to her.

16 | Male | 148 | 5'6
FireGoa | Non-Native | Human

Description

Gay kid with a dark past who's finally found love and family...but has it taken away from him by the events of the RP.

Appearance Description (optional)

Optional.

Personality

Flame Brooks is a firm believer that most people are ignorant at best, mean-spirited at worst, and although his relationship with Ashton and his family have softened this belief, he still tends to view other people with suspicion, especially if they appear to threaten those he holds dear. Though not entirely anti-social, he prefers to hang back and let strangers reveal information about themselves that he can use to safeguard the party, and eventually, help him find Ashton. Though concious of the prospect of betrayal, he will prove a true friend if his loyalty is earned through both actions and words. Nevertheless, he is slow to forgive those who do betray the group...

Class

Flame wants to be a Mage, pure and simple. He sees himself wielding his namesake element as a means of attack at all ranges, and even besting other, more experienced magic users in battle eventually. But for now, he prefers to be the group's 'analyzer' and 'vetter', scrutinizing individuals for threats and acting behind the scenes to ensure that group dynamics work out for his group's safety, or even success. He is also an amateur botanist, which allows him to survive in an area with lots of plants that resemble Earth's...

Bio

Flame had a relatively normal childhood, with a father that loved hunting in the woods outside the small town he lived in, and a mother who kept the house while homeschooling him. He played with the neighbors' children when he had the time, celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with good food and music, and listened to stories about God and Man and the latter's duty to obey him. Then, at the age of 10, he found out he liked boys and only boys, and everything changed when his parents inevitably found out too.

The law would penalize them for throwing him out, but they can freeze him out of their family, make it clear that they would only do the minimum for him. No more bedtime stories, no more hunting trips, no more play dates with the other children. And he would be 'sent away' to a normal public school in order to keep him out of their hair. To someone who had been taught that normal public schools were places of sin and violence, Flame saw this as judgement on a sinful soul.

And indeed, for the first few months, public school was bad, due to culture shock at how different the subjects were from what his Mother had taught him, and of course, bullies. A further shock was that many of those bullies were his former playmates; he lived in a small town, after all. Then Flame adapted, learned to stand up for himself, and managed to make friends. He also discovered his adeptness in Botany, a subject that became dear to his heart as in his own words: 'Flowers cannot betray people'.

Then his parents were killed in a car accident when he was 13, and while his feelings about them were mixed now, the fact was that he had to be put into Foster Care in the 'Big City', Bangor, Maine.

The first household he was in was made up of people who, though outwardly accepting of his sexuality, expected him to be eternally grateful for their acceptance. They made a big deal of how accepting they were to all who came near, whether friends and relatives, even as in private, they treated him more as their servant than their child. He had to clean, he had to cook, he had to sew and clear the snow, all as 'payment' for their allowing him to share their home.

At least he still had school, where the most handsome student he had ever seen, Ashton Andrews, lived. Ashton, well, he was kind, smart, and knew what to do with his life. Flame admired him a lot, and always sought ways to be close to him. And it appeared Ashton felt the same way, because the latter said to him one day,"Want to get together?"

Flame accepted.

But when his foster parents found out, they were only outwardly glad. Oh, sure, they boasted about how 'open-minded' they were, but now they shortened the hours Flame had to himself, made his meals smaller, and denied him sleep. It was when Flame caught a fever when things reached a head.

On his sickbed, Ashton went to Flame's house to give him a 'get well soon' present... And found the foster parents complaining about how 'the f*g' had the gall to get sick' and how 'he was more trouble than he was worth'. Thinking quickly, the boy took out his smartphone and recorded the entire conversation, before forwarding it to all of his contacts. Then, he confronted Flame's foster parents, who had been having their loud conversation in the kitchenette.

The next thing Flame knew Ashton was in his room, saying: "We'll take care of you now, Flame; I and my parents talked it over with your fake guardians and they say we're responsible for you now."

And with that, the redhead knew he was home.

Life with the Andrews household was serene, if not idyllic; compared to his previous homes, it was halcyon. He and Ashton split the chores, studied together, and occasionally went out on a date. Ashton's parents were also genuinely kind people whom not even his new cynicism could accuse of ulterior motives. They were kind to him, he was grateful to them, and all was good.

It was such a shame that all would be taken away...

@BrokenPromise

Aer Pacifica. What a wondrous character. Thank you for gracing us all with this character, which is clearly a gift from the gods. Please put them in the character tab ASAP

All joking aside, I let the co GM look over my character.

@Zelosse

I am severely triggered by the fact that you made you character smaller than the wonderful Aer Pacifica.

I think she'll make a good addition to the RP, if I'm being honest. I'd like to know more about her backstory, but we talked about enough via pm. Chiyo Kouko is accepted. Post her in the character tab.

@Althiel

I wait your CS, my love <3

@Letter Bee

Even though your characters don't have divine blessings, I know you expect them to down the road. So I'm going to treat them like characters that do have Dbs.

Ashton Andrews is fine as a character, but he's still way too strong for the current power scale. He's a doctor, a walking encyclopedia that contains a guide to how to survive in another world, has return by death, and has above normal magic potential. You've also stated you want this character to be a “generalist,” yet they seem to be less of a jack of all trades and more of a master of all trades.

Flame brooks isn't quite as bad. His knowledge is less useful and you at least anticipate that you'd like him to be a mage. But even for a mage, average flow and max tier life energy is extremely high for a non-native. An S is something I'd expect to find on a very small number of natives, and their flow would probably be a bit lower most of the time. I also feel like in this day and age, the level of gay prejudice displayed in his backstory is so incredibly high it's humerus and impossible to take seriously. People can hate him because he's gay, but maybe give him something else that people might actually avoid him for.

Another core problem with these characters is that they are both parts of a half. Flame's angst would make for an interesting character dynamic where he distrusts people and doesn't work well with others. But since he's got heart eyes for his boyfriend, they are able to mesh perfectly. That is to say that they were made to perfectly cover each other's weaknesses. And since they are both controlled by the same person, this feels like a blatant attempt at power gaming. This team of two has all kinds of knowledge, is magically stronger than most natives submitted to the RP this far, can return by death, and they haven't even acquired their magical boy transformations.

Even in the late game, I'm not sure it would be possible to give either character a magical boy transformation without seriously upsetting the power scale of the RP. They're already very capable mages, and giving them something like that feels excessive. Surely you can understand how powerful these two are together?

My suggested corrections for Ashton are to tone down everything:

-Make him a vet, fine, but don't also make him a doctor.

-I'm not sure a guide to the world of Re: Zero could ever make it into our world, so that should be removed entirely.

-Also, his magic is very strong for a generalist. So unless you want to spec him as a mage, I'd lower it to something more reasonable. I could at least consider giving him a magical boy DB down the road if he was something closer to C/C.

-Alice also suggested just having him go chuuni and dressing up like a magical boy. Alternatively, you could make Ashton a native. That might be the best option for him, but he'd need to be reworked quite a bit. He would know about the world for free however, and could justify starting out with a DB. But he won't start with return by death.

Flame just needs to have his life energy reduced a bit. You could do an A, but a B or C would make it easier (read: faster/possible) to get him a DB magical boy transformation down the road. I'd also like to see his back story made a bit more believable.

@catchamber

Looks good. I like how you listed all of her items. Hilda Gunnarsson is accepted, you may post her in the character tab.

EDIT: I noticed you removed everything, two can play at that game!

@Tenma Tendo

Grisaia Vertti is almost there. I like how he's sort of a summoner that relies on his shield to defend himself while he's waiting for his mana to restore. But Alice and I think that the shield could be made more interesting. One suggestion was that Grisaia could use any element as long as it was to shield themselves. Another idea was that Grisaia could make an unbreakable shield, but it only covers a small portion of his body. Like a real shield, only it holds up to magic better. But we'd like you to take a crack at making it a bit less strange.

@Seirei No Hai

I like how his DB lends itself to him being a teacher character who can help some of the other characters along. But Gris Ayt Forye is an oni, so naturally he's all kinds of stronk, unless he's missing his horns or something. His DB should just allow him to teach really well, and not also let him learn fast.

@Rune_Alchemist

Chieko Okawa's magic feels a little strong for a non-native spellblade. I'd drop her down to B+/ C- to better mesh with her fighting style. Then she can be accepted.

Mie Yukima, aka edgy fox grill, is accepted. You may post her in the character tab.

@Ryofu

I like it! Boxa boi Nobuhiro Nishioka is accepted. Put his sheet in the character tab.

@FamishedPants

The word adversity simply doesn't exist for Alistair Archibald. He has two types of magic, one of which is rare, and somehow without a divine blessing. His ability to use magic is higher than almost all native characters. SSS rank flow doesn't even exist. He's “talented” and just seems to pick up any skill he wants with relative ease. He's good at talking to people, good at fighting, and good at any random activity he decides to partake in. You're even brazen enough to mention he doesn't have any abstract magics “as of now,” like he might acquire even more power later on.

While you've billed Alistair as a mage, you've given him the tools to become a “master of all trades.” The only real hindrance is that he needs to practice a skill to become good with it, and because he's arrogant not everyone will want to work with him. But those are both very minor when you realize he has return by death and basically has an unlimited amount of time to master anything he chooses. The character has no real weaknesses.

Alistair Archibald is going to need to be toned down significantly if he wants to get into the RP.

-Reduce the number of things he's excellent at to just a handful. He can keep that air of pompousness without being a prodigy at everything.

-Decide how important it is to have two types of magic. If he's going to start off with two, his magic scores should be below the average level of C.

-If he's not going to have two magics, you can give him a strong magic stat. But nothing at S, and certainly no A/A on both stats. B/B would be okay, but don't expect to get any abstract magics anytime soon.

-If you insist on keeping his ability to learn everything at an alarming rate, then he is not a mage. He'll be forced to have one type of magic and average magic stats, and function as a generalist.

And with that, the first round of accepts have been sent out.

If you were accepted, great, if not, just make those suggested changes. If you have any questions, you can pm me or @Red Alice , or post in the character review section on the discord.

I'm probably not going to start things for another week, so you have plenty of time to make edits or post the first rendition of your character.

EDIT:

@Tenma Tendo and @Rune_Alchemist have fixed their sheets and are aproved, while @Letter Bee and @FamishedPants are waiting for a revaluation.

Yuuki Kimura

15 | Male | 121 lbs | 5'3
None | Non-Native | Human

Description
A displaced youth from another world who hopes to find some semblance of peace and kindness after a life mired in bitterness and apathy. But there's still a part of him that yearns for the world he left behind, for a chance to tie up the knots he had left hanging, to at least make sure that the ones he cares about know that he's doing alright, even if he isn't.

Appearance Description

More cute than cool, more beta than alpha, Yuuki has a dimunitive frame that's complemented by his unimpressive height of 5'3 and large eyes that give him the impression of a small animal. His face is baby-like as well, comfortably round, while his hands are the soft hands of a boy that never worked a day of his life. A pale complexion makes him reminiscent of the children of northern plains, while the brightness and warmth of his eyes speaks volumes of the type of person he is. He instinctively dresses warmly, preferring coats to shirts, scarves to sunglasses, even if logic dictates that such clothing is worthless on a warm summer's day. Yuuki doesn't care. It's just his preference.

Personality

Some would consider Yuuki to be kind to a fault, to the extent that it's clear he's a spineless pacifist who would smile and nod even as you hurled abuse towards him. They are right. He is that type of person, a silly doofus who can laugh off jabs and who refuses to throw punches in response to provocation. Life's too short to be held down by grudges, after all, and as far as he's concerned, everything will work out as long as people took the time to listen and compromise. A bit of a romanticist, a bit of an airhead, Yuuki takes everything in stride and does his best to stay under the radar and out of trouble. After all, he'd feel bad if he'd have to tread onto others in order to get what he needed, and he'd feel just as bad if people went out of their way to trouble themselves with his own affairs. Those are his own problems, not theirs, and though he would hypocritically offer his own help to others, Yuuki's not all that interested in receiving the help of others. The pride of a rabbit, perhaps? Or maybe the stubbornness of a self-deprecating dork? Who knows.

Despite being someone who loves sappy ideas of 'true love' and 'fated meetings', he's never been in a proper relationship, nor has he ever fully garnered the interest or attention of another. When confronted with the attraction of others, there is no doubt that Yuuki will melt into a stammering mess of embarrassment and regret.

Class
Yuuki is a student of Class 1-A, one that's fairly unremarkable in every way. He gets average grades, doesn't really see how molecular division can apply to his future, and spends more time in PE messing around with vague acquaintances rather than actually doing anything. As a casual member of the light music appreciation club, Yuuki definitely couldn't name any bands he's an intense, diehard fan of, but has a basic idea of the type of sounds that are 'good' and the type of sounds that are 'bad'. In general, though, it's expected that he's fairly normal, ambivalent and unambitious.

He also never went through a chuuni phase where he imagined himself as a RPG character. Cause yeah, that's a pretty weird thing to consider, right?

Yuuki is a Peacemaker, preferring debate over combat, compromise over victory. He believes that a win win scenario is always possible, and seeks to understand both sides of an argument as clearly as possible. Between the battlefield and the meeting room, he will always prefer the latter.

And if it comes down to it? Running away is okay!

Bio
Yuuki's life was as normal as it could have been. He was born as the eldest son, treated his younger sister as well as he could have, cared for his father when his mother left, and was generally a good student in school. Other kids caused troubles. Other kids were more remarkable. Other kids got into relationships. But he stayed in the center of those great circles, managing to remain on friendly terms with all of them. Yuuki didn't want to create waves, nor did he have any delusions of grandeur that was common amongst his age group. Heroism was hard, while hedonism seemed exhausting. Given a choice, he'd always take the path of least resistance, drifting through life peacefully.

But then he met a girl he could side with, someone who he was willing to take a harder path with. A girl with a guitar, dreaming of a brighter future despite the inevitability of fate, the world that sought to take everything from her. If he was with her, he thought he could change. If he was with her, he thought he should change.

So Yuuki, the half-baked pacifist who meandered through life despite all the sacrifices it took, decided to run away with her. From the remains of his family, from the snowbound city, from the systems that governed the world, from everything and nothing, to something new.

On a clear, starry night, he said his prayers to his mother and his sister.

On a clear, starry night, he ran out in his first and last act of rebellion.

On a clear, starry night, he found himself on a bright, sunny day.
