The numbered classes (1-5...six would no longer be necessary) would classify the actual abilities.
The descriptive classes that I have listed would describe the Variant themself. These are used as a codeword to get a quick read on a Variant's capabilities with as few words as possible.
With what you have, @Ceta de Cloyes, you're only classifying abilities. If I were to just tell you there was a 'Red level Variant with enhancements' that you needed to deal with, you would have no idea what to prepare for. However, if I instead told you that there was a 'Red level Brute', you would be expecting someone with super strength and not someone who can blow you up. That's the point of the types.
The types basically describe how a Variant would be perceived upon someone first meeting them and seeing their powers in action. Some Variants might fit into multiple categories by default...for example, Nightwolf could possibility be a Brute, Agile, Amplifier, and/or Metamorphic, but only the Metamorphic descriptor would be necessary because it describes how his abilities are mainly used. The rest are basically side effects.
Okay, I can see what you're going for and how my suggestion doesn't really solve that, and now that its broken down I kinda get it. I was going from an angle of broad research purposes, you'd want to compare similar expressions in self-contained variant abilities, external manipulation abilities, and those abilities that come from the mind, more of a how they present classification rather than how you're meant to engage them in combat lmao.

Name | ((Monica 'Nik' Graves)) Alias | Overcharge Age | ((26)) Gender | Female Appearance |
Notoriety | Unknown Class/Level | Class 1/Red/Volatile Abilities |
--Energy Vampire: Overcharge has the superhuman ability to absorb and negate any energy which is directed at her. Her body converts this energy into stored potential energy and can release it on command. Overcharge is able to either expel it from herself in a blast or wave, as well as imbue the energy into objects, which expel it in a blast on contact. There is an upper limit to how much energy she can hold, as well as a time limit before the energy starts breaking down with some explosive side effects. Overclock is able to absorb all different types of energy, which have different effects as detailed below. ---Kinetic Energy: The most common and easiest type of energy for Overcharge to store, Kinetic energy is any physical force directed at her. After absorbing this energy, Overcharge is able to expel it in a concussive blast, essentially adding the power of whatever stored energy she has to her own attack. ---Heat Energy: Coming from fire usually, this type of energy allows Overcharge to expel blasts of intense heat. Any objects imbued with this energy also tend to pop like a firecracker. ---Electrical Energy: Most often found by tapping into live electrical systems, this energy allows Overcharge to send arcs of lightning towards her foes, though she has no control over the arcs after she releases them. Imbuing this energy into an object will turn it into an EMP ---Sonic Energy: This type of energy allows Overcharge to launch loud, ear-shattering attacks at her foes. While absorbing this energy, it also dampens any sound she makes. ---Photon Energy: Energy from light, essentially. Using this type of energy allows Overcharge to create bright, flashbang-type flashes, dazing opponents who look too closely. ((---Nuclear Energy: Though untested, Overcharge has the dormant ability to absorb nuclear energy. This would allow her to direct potent blasts of radiation, as well as turning imbued objects into tiny bombs.))
--Limited Invulnerability: Due to her ability to absorb energies directed at her, this has a side effect of completely nullifying any attack made against Overcharge. So long as she is aware of danger, her powers are active, and have even been known to stop bullets from harming her.
--Enhanced Stamina: By absorbing wasted energy when she walks or runs, Overcharge is able to go longer, and further distances than the average human.
[Gear] Attire | Overcharge wears little in the way of an actual costume, seeming to prefer simple street clothes. She has been noted to prefer over-large hoodies and pants with many pockets, in addition to her trademark purple bandanna she uses to conceal her face.
((In civilian life, Nik wears clothing similar to her vigilante persona, wearing the same clothes several days in a row at times, though missing the bandanna.))
Armament/Equipment | Overcharge is most often seem with what appears to be a folding staff, similar to ones used by the visually impared community. It has likely been reinforced in some way, as she uses it as her primary weapon, striking her opponents with it after imbuing it with stored energy. Her boots as well, appear to have been reinforced in some way, likely utilizing steel or carbon toes, allowing her to deliver devastating kicks when her opponents get too close.
((Costumed Personality: Overcharge is most at home when her face is behind a mask. She has been known to engage in banter, witty or otherwise, while pursuing villains; and is quite energetic in her pursuits. As a product of her recent past however, Overcharge has learned to make some hard moral choices. She believes that there are times when the best way to protect people from the evils of the world are to remove the source of the corruption wherever one can find it. She would like to say she takes no joy in these hard decisions, but when faced with certain elements of her past, she is forced to admit a certain level of sadistic satisfaction.
Civilian Personality: Nik is often cold upon her first meeting. She keeps very professional and businesslike, often not exchanging many words at all. Once she begins to warm up to a person however, another side of her comes out. Nik will begin smiling and joking more, engaging in conversation and sharing stories of her life. She doesn't have many people she would consider a friend, but those she does he would give her life for.)) Occupation/Trade | ((Independent electrician)) Skills/Talents |
--Parkour: Nik has learned to navigate city streets quickly and in the most direct route, which often takes her in directions others would fear to tread. --Impeccable Aim: Nik has trained herself to be an expert marksman... So long as the ammunition is rubber bands or pebbles, and the weapon is her hands.
Background | ((Monica was born into a poor immigrant family from Europe, who wanted nothing more than to see their girl become a famous American baseball player (Which is, of course, the American dream, and totally attainable in the 22nd century). Her life was dominated by the sport, from playing catch with her father in the back yard using stones when they couldn't afford a new ball, to joining a local little league team as soon as she was big enough. Nik's family had always been low on money, but her mother and father managed to scrape together everything Nik needed for the team. Unfortunately, it seemed Nik was doomed to a life of mediocre sports talent. She never really shone on the field, making a few nice plays and a good hit here or there, but not reaching the standards her parents hoped he would.
Nik's life changed for the first time at the age of 12. During one of the final baseball games of the season, she stood a bit too close to the plate in an ill-planned effort to hit the ball with more force. Her left hand was struck by the pitch, a fastball right to her knuckles, though Nik felt no pain. She soon forgot the incident however, until a week or two later, when her hand began to ache. Not able to afford a doctor, her parents looked at it, said it seemed fine, and wrapped it with soft cloth, to try and sooth the pain. Soon after, Nik's hand exploded in a flash of purple, the decaying energy from the baseball weeks prior finally taking its toll. The family was introduced to one of the other facets of the 'American Dream'; privatized healthcare. The bills from the hospitals, all the tests done, and getting even the cheapest prosthetic they could find all but bankrupted the family. Each parent was forced to take another job just to survive, and that was when Nik's life changed again.
Late one night, walking home from work in an attempt to save money on bus fare, Nik's mother was jumped by a group of muggers. Desperately trying to defend her hard-earned money, she fought back against her attackers, who decided it was easier to simply pull a knife. Nik got the news before leaving for school the next day; her mother had been killed. This sent the girl's father, Johan, into a spiraling depression, he barely ate or slept, and stopped talking to anybody at all. Nik did everything she could to help, but her father was left a broken shell of a man. Though Johan continued to work the bare minimum needed to provide for his broken family, soon after the younger Emma’s 18th birthday, Johan was found dead as well, this time of suicide. Soon after, Nik swore vengeance on the criminals of her city, vowing to use her newfound powers to destroy the people who had taken both her parents from her and ruined her life.))
Name |Alice Corbett Alias | Jabberwocky Age | 27 Gender | Female Appearance | 5'9", 160lbs., athletic build, Facial scars (one on left brow, two on left cheek) Notoriety | Missing Class/Level | Mentalist/ Blue Abilities | High Level Empath: Emotion Projection, Emotion Detection, Illusion Casting, Empathic Healing (low level), Empathic Link
[Gear] Combat style vest with pockets, said pockets have a variety of things including a pack of cigarettes, a small amount of Marijuana, a small bottle of Mollies, and a few nondescript muscle relaxers
Attire | Normal attire: Jeans and a button down shirt, sweatpants and a Tanktop, whatever shirt she grabbed to chase down the toddler
Armament/Equipment | a small set of keyring style brass knuckles, a can of mace, the bar has a shotgun under it, a beaseball bat
[Temperament & Lifestyle] Alice is a very calm individual, always seems well put together. Her lifestyle is quite hectic, she runs semi backwards to a normal schedule. Wonderland opens at 8pm, closes to the general public at 2am. She stays awake cleaning and keeping up the bar until time to take Wren to preschool, and then ZONKS until time to pick up the kid. Playtime, dinnertime, bathtime and bedtime, repeat. Ask anyone, she is a very genial but kind of closed off type person. The only other person who matters is Wrenly.
Personality/Habits | Alice is very friendly and outgoing on the surface, she does run a bar after all. She is very good at keeping the liqour flowing as well as conversation, without actually speaking about herself very often. Quick to laugh or smile, but always has a mask in place for the public. Alice tends to be fairly neat, the bar is always spotless and well stocked. The apartment above it is also very clean, unless the toddler has wreaked havoc.
Occupation/Trade | Bartender/ Single parent
Skills/Talents | Alice can both detect the emotional state of individuals as well as use her own state to influence others. She can use the emotional fluctuations of those under the influence of mood altering drugs/alchohol to induce a kind of hallucinogenic state, similar to a "bad trip". She can also, once an emotional bond/link has been formed, know when someone is in a state of emotional distress such as danger or shock and get a sense of where they are in relation to her within a radius of a few blocks. Alice can, when concentrating all her focus, heal small wounds both physical and emotional by "taking on" the wound. This is limited and very uncommon for her to do, as it makes her vulnerable.
Family | John Hawthorne, father (deceased). Linda Hawthorne, mother (deceased). Nicholas Hawthorne, Brother (deceased). Emily Hawthorne, sister in law (deceased). Unnamed parents, (deceased). Wrenly Corbett, niece (alive, 4 years old).
Background | Alice grew up in a fairly reasonable home life with her parents John and Linda and her older brother Nicholas. She and her brother were practically inseperable, and anyone who knew them would tell you that Alice was always masterminding their adventures. Whenever trouble happened, Nick would always stick up for his sister, claiming wholeheartedly "Alice gets whatever she wants!" Whether it was "borrowing" the neighbors car to go get pizza or "convincing the ice cream man to give them everything", Alice was always at the root of the problem but seemingly always escaped punishment. After getting in hot water at school for convincing two boys to fight, Alice was placed in a Childs therapy group where it was discovered that she was actually manipulating the emotions of those around her. Her family was torn apart by the discovery: her parents thought they ad failed to raise her right and her brother staunchly defended her; saying it was not her fault that she had these abilities and that she would never misuse them with people she knew/loved. She was institutionalised at her parents behest and used as a study by several psychologists/ scientists who eventually officially handed over to N.O.V.A for their use. Trained by N.O.V.A as a tracker/influencer, Alice was sent out to use her abilities to convince Variants to register by choice or by force as well as to track down those who were harmful. This was a highly successful and lucrative job but earned the ire of the Variants. Her brother Nicholas, however, was proud of his sister and the work she did; telling her it was a neccessary part of keeping people safe. He considered it just as important as a police officer or a doctor, just for Variants. Alice had her doubts as to the morality of her job as more and more Variants were "convinced" to register the Hard Way and tried to leave N.O.V.A for good. She used her access to the registry of Variants to find a small group of Vigilantes who she paid handsomely to help her fake her death in a freak car accident. They set her up with a new identity, papers, and a place to stay until things blew over. She struck up a kinship with a fellow Variant by the name of Jessica Beadle. Through Jessie, Alice tried to reach out to her brother to let him know she was still alive and say her goodbyes only to find that he and his wife had died in a "botched home invasion". Her niece had been found in the closet of her home and was in the custody of Social Services, so Alice and Jessie fudged the records to give Alice custody of her. With the only family she has left and a single friend who knows of her past, Alice is determined not to go back under the eye of N.O.V.A. And as we all know: Alice gets what she wants
Quote:"One should never fear the dark. Just enjoy the light you have left."
Alias: Nevermore Age: 24 Gender: female Notoriety: Missing Alignment: Revolutionary Level: yellow Family: Father: Rick Lorell, Mother: Sarah Lorell Occupation: on disability
Aurora is seen to be a beauty. With a lean build and fair skin standing in at around 5,2. Her eyes are what really set her apart besides the snowy form. Red and clouded as though in a veil of mist she almost always keeps them closed due to being bullied as a child. Many saying they are unnerving to look at.
She started seeing her appearance as a way to throw people off her trail however. No one really making the connection that the gothly raven could possibly be the pastel blind albino down the street.
Her own mask is a summons. The skull of the bird that had once haunted Edgar Allen Poe. So long as she carries on a name that show's its legacy she has been allowed to hide behind it's remains.
Mutation: Aurora has the ability to create bonds and contracts with beings from other plains of exsistance. The Lesehn, Binky, noon wraith, the salesmen, and a grim are her main team at the moment. Her bonds always changing due to her team having lives for themselves and eventually cutting ties, forcing the woman to go back and hope she can find something that can take it's place.
Many think this power is limitless. Theories on the web that one day Nevermore is going to unleash dragons and godzilla on their bustling city. Yet she can only call what is willing, some beasts taking months or years to gain their trust, before she could issue some kind of partnership. Some beasts being trickier than most, and could easily lash out and kill her in the process of gaining them under her wing.
She's great as backup. Her summons giving her a wide list of skills on the field, but as a driving force of combat, she is terribly outmatched. Small and quick, but unable to actually take a punch.
Equipment: Her cane, though she's never used the blade, her father gave it to her after realizing she's been getting into trouble.
Skills: Aurora was a competitive horseback rider as a child. Giving her an advantage when she's riding her summons, Binky. She also has amazing hearing, that she can pin point in some areas. Working best in a team, since her abilities ride on her working with her own readily made team. Now you can find her writing songs to sing in her apartment, far away from people.
Personality: Aurora is a seeker of knowledge. Someone who needs to know things small and large. Heavy and light. This was due to the fact that she was born blind, growing up with being sheltered and lead around, she found herself growing tired of the treatment quickly. Wanting to be as independent as she can be. Pushing herself to be better at what she dose to prove to those around her that she dose not need her eyes in order to live her life. She thinks that many who help her do it not for herself, but so they could feel better. Thinking that they would be a hero for a small moment. Realizing she was a poster child of someone in needed has only added to her independence and caused her to get into trouble because of it. Aurora is a calming presence. Soft spoken shes not one to raise her voice. When it comes to her friends, she is usually the one to end a fight with words alone. Comforting others when they are in need, usually from just being beside them, to show that she will always have your back. She's a bit of a fidgeted though, tapping her fingers, clicking her tongue or bouncing her leg, the woman has to always be doing something with her hands if she's left alone. Her greatest fear being absolute silence, you can always trust on her to make some kind of sound.
Bio: Aurora was born to a family that had been heavily involved with animals. Blind, but still free to roam what she would call a farm. Horses, goats, dogs and a few chickens always ready to be the source of her entertainment. She had a fairly normal childhood, her parents getting her into 4-H, and other activities so their child could try and stand on her own as much as she could. A daring, happy little thing who's world came crashing down when she found out she was a mutant.
She thought it was a nightmare the first time. Waking in a cold wasteland of twisting brambles and a grey sky. The caw of crows sounding in the distance as an icy chill would creep up her spine, only to come back in her room. Again, and again she would enter world after world. She started to get anxiety, insomnia, her room was a place of dread, feeling as though her mind was ready to snap. Again, and again she would find herself there as she screamed out at the void only to be answered with the crow, and the sound of heavy footfalls. Eventually her fear of crows developed into the real world, the sound of them causing her to run and hide, keeping her from even going outside.
It was when her father found the decaying raven following her, did he realize what had happened. His daughter's nightmares being her own creation, as they followed her in every waking moment. Her world was crashing down, instead of excitement it was fear, she didn't want this, she wanted to be normal. Out of any power. why something that caused her to scream and lock herself away? Her parents couldn't sit and watch though. Instead finding a specialist to help her gain control over her abilities so she could try to have some normalcy in her life.
Teenage years develop rebellion however. Summons locked away were starting to be explored the more she realized she could use them for her own gain. Her first summons was a fox, a simple thing that could never be caught, leaving her annoying neighbor out in the woods for hours, furious with the sight of a fox that he could never catch. Then she called a dog, after her parents told her she couldn't have another one. Eventually becoming more daring, more needy as a pale horse, of silent hoof falls greeted her in the nights. Realizing her abilities were something more, something powerful had caused her to move to the city. The raven that haunted her before, now donned her features as she looked out over the endless sound the streets had to offer. Sounds of cars, of laughter, of drugs, of beatings and robbers.
Her first hunt with the pale horse, had her hooked. A simple mugging that caused the man to belive death itself had come for him. Voice trembling with terror only to find she offered no harm. She was someone under that mask, she was more than blind Aurora the farm girl, she was Nevermore. The rider of the pale horse, and the bringer of dreams to her friends and nightmares to her enemies. Her name being whispered on the news and web causing her to go even deeper into the world of vigilantes.
She's been away on a job for the last six months. Another group in the city Roon causing her to leave her home to offer aid. A rescume mission for fellow mutants, where she offered cover and disguises using the help of her newest partner. The salesmen, with her work done however she just wants to get back home with her dog, and back to her old life.

Notoriety | Unknown/Missing Variant Type/Danger Level | Abilities | Electrical generation, electrical drain, alteration of electrical waves including those in the brain, electrical sight, electrical form, generation of small range EMP, near immunity to other electrical forces but can be overloaded, weaknesses include water but can bathe lightly, grounding.
[Gear] Attire | Augmented gloves so that she doesn't shock others along with her rubber cybersuit Armament/Equipment | Carrys a baton just in case.
[Temperament & Lifestyle] Affiliation | Independent with loose times to the underground Alignment | Benefactor Personality/Habits | Titania is a level headed person who can think he way through things as she has been trained as an EMT. Due to he power she has become a bit of a loner except when she is saving people. She has a bit of a savior complex. Occupation/Trade | EMT with some medical practice Skills/Talents | Medical knowledge along with talking a person through something. Family | Her mother who now doesn't remember her. Background | Becoming a Variant was the scariest thing for Titania. One moment she felt normal the next lightning coursed through her veins. Once she had been an EMT in a city that didnt care for Variants. Then she ran into one, the girl had been 8 years old and scared out of her mind that something was after her. Titania tried to calm the girl down but suddenly out of nowhere the area went dark and all she could hear was laughing. Then the lightning started. Her partner on that was on the shift with her grabbed Titania and drove off as she had saw the little girls face warp into something horrific. Just as they thought they had made it out a bolt of lightning struck the ambulance then arced to her and her partner. He died immediately and she took the jolt head on. It knocked her out and left lichtenberg figures all down her body. When the police found her and her partner Titania's scars were glowing with with a blue white light. She was then taken to a facility where she was locked up for murder of her partner as they wouldn't listen to anything she had to say. 6 months passed and the underground broke her out. Somewhat grateful but also pissed she took the chance to work for them but didnt get highly involved. It was discovered that she could almost kill a person when she was at full capacity so one of the underground's brightest developed her a suit that channeled her energy and regulated it. It fit under her cloths and she would always say it was because she wanted to hide her scars. In truth it was because she didnt wanna kill anyone with her hands. Going back home after a while was a culture shock. Discovering her mother now resented her she discovered a new power when she looked into her mother's eyes and wished that she could just forget her. It was like her wish had come true but later Titania discovered that she had altered her mother's electrical impulses in her brain. Titania took on more jobs for the underground but after a couple of years left to become an EMT again. Hiding her powers as much as she could and erasing the memory of anyone who say her using them.
Saw that juicy dramatique electrokinetic in the inspiration channel on the discord and had to do some quick revamping and rephrasing :P The powers are now slightly renamed and edited to be a bit less specific, but not nearly as broad as our energy vampire lmao

Name | Roman Diaz Alias | Dynamo Age | 25 Gender | Male Appearance |
187 cm / 74 kg copper skin / caramel hair / amber eyes groomed / thin
Electroform: Converting to a body made entirely of energy, Roman has the ability to become what is essentially sentient electricity. In this form he can travel through conductive elements like power cables, possess technological devices, and subsist entirely on a diet of energy, as well as becoming immune to the effects of disease and physical injury. On the downside he becomes susceptible to EMPs and unstable once in contact with insulators such as rubber or air.
While Roman cannot be harmed physically as an electroform, he can still be destabilized by energy-based attacks, his own energy expenditure, psychic attacks, and power surges or blackouts. Instead of manifesting as bleeding or bruising however, upon returning to his physical form the damage would present as exhaustion, hypothermia, or overheating, potentially to a fatal degree.
Clothing, carried objects, and sometimes even small creatures can all be carried by Roman into his electroform, becoming encoded software stored in his consciousness, essentially frozen in a sort of stasis before rematerializing when he returns to his physical form. The software cannot be edited, deleted, or added to.
Electrokinetics: While bound to the limited natural behavior of electricity as an electroform, the same rules do not apply in his physical form. Capable of launching electrical attacks or manipulating electrical fields from a distance, Roman can operate in both an offensive and defensive capacity using everything from sparks, bolts, and shockwaves to overloads, force fields, and flight.
Affiliation | Chimera Alignment | Dynamo Personality/Habits |
Roman is energetic and restless, with a confident decisiveness that holds a certain charisma. Being inquisitive and compassionate, he also holds a certain charm that makes him likeable. However he has a stubborn deviant streak, refusing to conform and reluctant to deal with authority. Apart from his young nephew, he finds it hard to open up and maintain close relationships.

Family | Damian Diaz / Camilla Monte / Julio Diaz / Joshua Diaz
Roman’s parents, Damian and Camilla, were just rethinking their divorce when they died mysteriously. Neither he nor his elder brother, Julio, were sad to see them go. They were judgemental and shallow people who couldn’t handle their own emotions, and should never have been allowed to let their baggage loose on children. Julio was little better, sleeping around and getting involved in things he shouldn’t, spewing offensive rhetoric that drove the brothers apart. Julio now sits in jail, and in the ensuing debate over the fate of his son, Roman fought for and won custody.
Neither of his parents had been ultra-rich, but they had been well off. Key word being ‘had.’ Roman and his brother grew up in Uptown with their mother, visiting their father on alternating holidays in Midtown. Camilla Monte did love to spend her money however, and not always in legal ways. Between her expensive tastes and long bouts of emotional and impulsive luxury cruises, by the time she reignited her relationship with their father and they both tumbled over the railing in a drunken stupor, they only had a fraction of what they should have inherited. Julio sold their home and moved to Los Angeles, leaving Roman to take his share and rent an apartment in Midtown.
Now, Roman had always had powers, it was an unacknowledged fact that their family liked to forget. When he was a child the lights would flicker on and off at his will, but he spent so long hiding it, imitating his mother and pretending not to notice it, that it never occurred to him to use them intentionally until his later high school years. He discovered an ability to manipulate certain kinds of technology, interfacing with and commanding computers and phones as well as lamps and various other tech. It became a quality of life thing, not a special skill used for anything but mundane tasks.
Then, a month into his new home in Midtown, he possessed a computer in the library. He was stuck there for nearly two months, flickering in and out of the physical world helplessly, causing the librarians to become convinced they were haunted. Except he hadn’t actually possessed the computer, not really, he’d simply turned himself into an electrical form; he’d finally used his powers so much that he tipped over the threshold, becoming energy himself. When he resurfaced a good six months after his disappearance, it took some time to adjust after having learned how to navigate the various networks of the city, building and creating things that weren’t possible in the material world. He’d only stayed so long because time had flowed differently for him; his body did not need sleep or nutrients, nor did he see the sun rise or night fall or any other thing that marked the passage of time for organic people - in fact he’d only left after nearly dying when a power outage plunged him into darkness and he had to cut off huge chunks of accumulated data and programs he no longer had the power run. It had felt a bit like chopping his brain in half.
Then came Julio’s sentence, and the custody court, and Roman latched onto that new purpose like a lifeline, trying to regain a sense of normalcy after almost forgetting the real world even existed. Josh became more than a distraction however, especially when he developed powers, and while he might’ve been his nephew, it felt more like having a little brother. The two of them became a team, their relationship the foundation of his new bold confidence and driving him right into the arms of Chimera, a group Roman believed could make a brighter, more secure future for himself, Josh, and others like them; those who were trapped in a system that could only harm and never help.

Cool, calm, collected, Josh maintains a serious demeanor, coming across as somewhat distant and arrogant, bit it's a cover for his shy insecurities. Clever is the smallest word for what he is, not just in science and technology, but in wit and banter as well- provided he's comfortable enough to allow it.
Occupation/Trade | Criminal Associate / High School Student Skills/Talents |
Family | Damian Diaz / Camilla Monte / Julio Diaz / Joshua Diaz
Joshua never met his grandparents Damian and Camilla, nor did he ever meet his mother. His father, Julio, never spoke of her, and Josh has decided that probably meant he didn't know her either - at least, not beyond her name, which he never deigned to share with him. Like his uncle, Josh has always had his powers, and followed his father's lead of never mentioning them. He used them to hide at first, whenever he was in trouble, or someone was mean to him, he vanished into a computer and read or played on the internet. When his father went away on murder charges, he was lost and unsure of his future, and wondered if he ever would have had one even if his father had stayed. Landing in the lap of his estranged uncle was a blessing, someone with ideals and compassion to help him find his way and achieve his dreams. Not to mention, Roman had powers too.
Josh grew up in Los Angeles with his father and various temporary step-somethings - whatever the word was for a stepmother without the actual marrying his father bit. He used his powers to avoid getting in trouble, and not for much else. They were not rich, nor poor, but his father was gullible and alcoholic, allowing people to use him for his money until he had little left, and then allowed new people to suck him into less than legal professions. Josh didn't know much about it, and liked it that way, because home had never really felt like home, but now it was an actively uncomfortable and scary place to be.
Josh wasn't the one to turn his father in, but when the police came, he didn't protest in his father's defence, instead clamming up and ever since keeping himself in an icy barrier that would never give anything away. After moving in with his uncle and becoming close, that chill abated slightly, and he knew his father going away was for the better, but his uncle was also a criminal. Roman was involved with a group called Chimera, not drug pushers or gangsters, but criminals all the same. Josh involved himself, forcing his way onto Chimera's radar without Roman's consent, and becoming something of an... intern. Roman and Julio might have both been criminals, but they were very different kinds, and while he didn't miss his father, he would miss Roman. So Josh became an associate, because next time he wouldn't let anyone take his family from him without a fight.
Standing at 6’3’’ Zoey is a surprisingly tall woman, but thankfully her active lifestyle leaves a fair amount of muscle packed onto her body to keep from appearing like a beanpole. Her red hair is such a light shade that it almost appears to be orange, the strands falling straight down to her mid back, though more often than not she has bangs falling into her face. Said face has rather elegant, if harsh looking features made up of sharp, hard lines with high cheekbones and brows near constantly furrowed above her grey-blue eyes. Sadly this all adds up to Zoey having a natural ‘resting bitch face’, often appearing to be judging everything about you with a single glance.
Due to her upbringing nothing she wears makes her more approachable either, her casual wear often consisting of slacks and button up shirts or high brand skirts and dresses, and sunglasses she probably spent too much on. Her outfits are never below the triple digits, if not more.

Class 4 Atom Manipulation In a broad sense, Zoey can manipulate all atoms both on herself and things around her. In reality this is an incredibly hard power to control, even for someone using it all their life, and she hasn't come close to unlocking its potential.
Deconstruction: The destructive power of her abilities is honestly what Zoey excels at. She's capable of dissolving anything non-living within five feet of her, up to the size of a semi-truck. Plants, despite being living, are somewhat affected by this and will fall apart at a slower pace. Animals and humans she can only do so with touch and only small areas of humans - for example an arm.
Reconstruction: After deconstructing a material Zoey can put it right back together again as long as she still has control of the atoms. Should she have let the material "drop" it would be far more difficult to piece them back together, and if she had never dissolved them in the first place but rather was trying to manipute atoms to something new or unfamiliar it requires her full concentration and can take up to five minutes for the smallest items.
Control: Last, Zoey can stop or move any non-energy based object, including people. For an object she can hold it up to thirty seconds, a person would only be for a split second - rather like hitting an invisible barrier and losing all momentum.

Zoey is rather paranoid about her identity, and as such her outfit as Grim is made to hide as much as possible. Everything is in black, from the non-descript hoodie, to the full-head mask beneath it, from the cargo pants to the boots. She even wears a voice changer and chest compressor to hide her gender. The only item of note (excluding the mask, which the hoodie helps hide) is a silver canine head insignia on the belt.
Mace – Yep, a bottle of ordinary mace. Zoey tends to forget about it since she’s so reliant upon her powers however.
Kevlar Vest - A concealed bulletproof vest underneath Grim’s hoodie, along with being practical it also adds to the chest bindings to give a more solidly masculine build.
Goggles - The best money can buy, and with a little bit of custom tinkering, these are top of the line crime fighters. Capable of night vision, zoom, and a basic infared.
Voice Changer - Top of the line, it wraps snugly around the lower face and comes out as a deep, masculine voice with only a slight, unnoticeable amount of roboticism.
First Aid Kit. Safety first, kids!

Altruist (Social Good)
Zoey’s initial impressions often end up with her coming off as cold, aloof, and perhaps even a bitch. Despite trying to appear more elegant than she probably is, she has a bit of bite to her words that’s not helped by an impassive visage. Yet even with her efforts to put off a certain bearing, she can be quick to fluster or anger if the right buttons are pressed. When it all comes together Zoey can come off as a bit of a bully, but truth be told it’s rather accidental, as Zoey is too preoccupied with her own problems to care about harassing others.
It’s difficult for Zoey to shed the mask she’s built, too. While she may go as far as being a touch flirty, getting a real crack at it can be difficult - usually though it’s from getting her to geek out about her current projects, be it cars, tech, or her research (read: fangirling) over heroes. Further, she has a real passion for helping others even if it’s difficult to show - but, Zoey’s a bit dull and doesn’t have a great grasp of real world economics. To her, helping others in the mask she dons is the best use of her resources. Last, Zoey just plain isn't the sharpest knife in the crayon box; the only exception to this is that she handles cars and tech like putty in her hands - at least as much as a normal person can!
In-costume Grim is a vicious thing, and an equally dirty fighter. Since he’s often in mid to close combat he doesn’t hesitate to use cheap tricks to seal a victory, and often relies on surprise and brute strength to end a confrontation before it can truly begin. He strikes hard, fast, leaving little opportunity for someone to respond… at least criminals. It’s rather common to have Grim stop and drop a compliment or flirty line - due to often feeling like she has to be something she’s not, and being quite in the closet as she’s her family’s only child, Zoey takes the anonymity of being behind Grim’s mask to ‘let loose’ in more ways than just flexing her abilities. She has quite the repertoire of cheesy one-liners, actually. Further, due to cultivating the image of Grim being a man Zoey’s quite talented at switching her mannerisms and actions to be masculine, down to her very walk.
The richest bitch.
Money, always money. Beyond that she has some medical knowledge, beyond basic first aid but certainly less than anyone in the profession. Zoey also has training in some fighting styles, favoring boxing and grapples. She also has some experience with rifles, hunting ones specifically.
As the first and only child to the Kasimir family, Zoey was the pride of her parents’ life - and with their social status never had to want for anything. While both her parents came from upper class families, her father in particular had made a name for himself outside his family name. He was a talented surgeon that was highly sought after, having an incredibly high survivability on his performances due to the least kept secret in his medical ward - Dr. Kasimir wasn’t a normal human.
It was within days after her birth that it became apparent Zoey took after her father. Zaden Kasimir was of course overjoyed his little girl received this gift as well, and Zoey started learning even before she could walk how to use her powers, identical to his. Her mother was often concerned, considering what a power it was, but as a child there was very little the small girl could do at first. It was only when Zoey started school did she start to realize her life wasn’t as perfect as she thought. She was seven when the exasperation was no longer playful, and the affectionate whispers her parents shared with upturned lips turned to harsh accusations and clenched teeth. Though they held on as long as they could to their marriage, at least for the sake of their daughter, the escalating disgust was coming to its very inevitable conclusion.
Yet it never came.
It was around when the ‘divorce’ word was finally being vocalized that the route was violently derailed. Zoey’s mother had been out shopping when an accident occurred - a trip, a fall, a speeding bus. She didn’t even make it to her husband’s operating table. While Dr. Kasimir was briefly looked at due to their known impending divorce, it was obvious he wasn’t a part of it - it was just an accident.
Following her mother’s subsequent funeral Zoey withdrew into herself, much to her father’s concern. It’s what prompted him to reduce his hours to fall back on their fortune in order to spend more time at home with his little joy, his work no longer centerfold to his day. Zoey learned more about her powers with her father’s guiding hand, and was filled with stories of those who used what was special about them to help humanity. Just like when she was younger, there was always an underlying note of caution however; even a family as influential as theirs couldn’t let anyone else know, not with the world as it was.
When it came time for her to start high school Dr. Kasimir and hired a personal bodyguard to teach Zoey various methods on how to defend herself. His worry knew no bounds, he wanted his little girl to be able to take care of herself. He even got her to carry mace – something she let him know she found useless. They had powers, Dad. But he insisted, and she relented.
There was always the temptation, for Zoey. Maybe it was all the stories, latched onto after her mother’s death. Maybe it was in her blood to help. Maybe it was just pure idealism that wanted to burst out everytime she had to muffle her excitement behind an aloof facade. Hell, maybe it was even that Zoey wasn't very smart. Yet everytime another person ended up on the news clad in a colorful costume, others like her with powers that should have only been home to the inside of a comic book, the temptation to finally use these abilities and help others just like her blood sang to her to do was overwhelming. Everyday there was more and more news on those who began showing these powers, and Zoey soaked it up like a sponge.
It started off merely as fangirling over those who began appearing, but It took very little time for Zoey to start venturing out from the Vines, drawn to the conflict like a moth to flame. In her eyes, those who were granted these precious abilities and chose to use them for selfish gain and destruction had to be shown there’s always bigger fish in the sea. For three years she’s been donning the mask of Grim, through rough patches and losing some of the spark in her eyes. With her family’s high profile Zoey has been very careful to beat a hasty trail away from keeping the spotlight. It was obvious she couldn’t be found out, after all - just like anyone else who did this. On top of that University has been keeping her busy of course, so her escapades have been on and off, and yet … Zoey can’t help but find her mind constantly drawn back to how she could be out there doing more. Should be doing more.
And that maybe it was time for Grim to step out of the shadows.
