How she wanted to believe him. How she wanted him to just take her into his arms and make her forget everything. But that...that wasn't the reality of the situation. To say or think otherwise was to betray that, and she just couldn't deny the truth. Could she just pretend to forget? Just for now? She was well aware that tomorrow, they would once again be thrust into danger. Maybe she could just put the discussion to rest. For now. They could argue about who was unwilling to lose who another day.

"Okay. You win." She told him quietly, placing her hands on his for a moment. "But you should know, no matter what happens, I promised I would protect you. I meant it. No harm will come to you if I can help it." Even if that threat is me. I will protect you, Jaakuna.

Something he wanted to talk to her about? What could it possibly be? As Wesley would take his turn, Nadeline would choose to sit on the edge of her bed, crossing her legs on one another. Was it possible he wanted to continue talking about Grant and Savayna? No, he would have said as much. She would cluck her tongue in disapproval, though she decided to seize the chance. Dropping her robe for a moment, she would tip toe over to her dresser, pulling off her nightgown and slipping into something a little more revealing. Grinning from ear to ear, she would slip her robe on once more and would await Wesley on her bed patiently.

What had he done? Grant's regret would grow deeper the more Savayna cried. He would wait as long as she needed. No, that wasn't the right course of action. Or, maybe it was, but for once his gut was telling him that he needed to do something. Anything. So he would. He pulled Savayna away from him for just a moment, one hand on her shoulder as the other would wipe away her tears. "Whatever it is that happened, it's in the past," He told her, not even completely sure of what he was really saying. But he would keep going anyway. If she was going to end up beating him up for it, so be it. "But the one thing you need to know is this: it doesn't matter if it's Levi, Shion, Zodiark--none of them stand a chance against us." What was he even saying at this point? "So don't worry. Alright?"

Jaakuna, somehow, had convinced her that the point that she was trying to make was futile when it came to him. Jaakuna wouldn’t even consider that idea, so it brought him some relief to hear that she wasn’t going to press that any longer. Even if she still wanted that, it seemed, by her words, that Emiri was done fighting him on it. That’s all Jaakuna wanted. “Finally, we both agree on something.” There was that famous Jaakuna wit that always got him a few slaps. “We both want to protect each other no matter what happens.” Jaakuna found a smile curl on his face, “so, now that we got that out of the way, perhaps it’s time you rest. Surely all of that arguing has warn you out even more than you already were, right?” Jaakuna asked her.

Wesley didn’t take that long to bathe. In fact, he was done before ten minutes passed. He wasn’t one to take long. Coming from Rabanastre and how so busy the capital was, Wesley had to always make sure that he was done bathing in a timely manner. That and his sister loved to get his favorite foods first, so that was also something that Wesley had engraved into his mind. So, of course Wesley was able to complete his bath quick enough to not have Nadeline wait too long.

As he got out, drying himself, Wesley would look into the mirror briefly, seeing his black hair, in its moist state, coming down to his shoulders. He looked and brushed it enough so that it didn’t cover his eyes. He brushed it all the way back, letting bareness of his forehead show. After being satisfied with it, he put on the pair of pajamas that he took when he got into the bathroom, and put them on. They were a pair of dark gold pants, and the top was white with gold lining. It was long-sleeve. Wesley then stepped out, the door creaking slightly. He would scan the room for Nadeline, spotting her on her bed. She was in a position that showed all of her body features in a complimentary way. Her nightgown was lowered around her bust to show some of it. Wesley smiled, obviously approving of the position she was in. As much as it pained him, Wesley would have to object to what she was wanting to do - at least for right now. He would simply approach her bed, and sit next to her.

“Nadeline, before we engage in whatever activity will become of you in such a flattering outfit, I must confess something to you.” Wesley said, his hand on Nadeline’s, looking at her. “After what happened today and how there very well may be a war brewing with the three countries, I have been thinking long and hard about it, and,” Wesley paused, eyes looking at Nadeline, “I have decided that I will be returning to my home of Rabanastre.” he informed her, “much time has passed since I have left on this journey with you and the others, and while I have enjoyed my time immensely with you all, I fear that, if I do not return now, then I will be too late to do anything to save my home from this war that is surely to come.” Wesley admitted, feeling sadness for his home and its fate in the coming days.

She heard Grant’s words, but it was as if they fell on deaf ears. She was so distraught in the realization that Levi had been involved with Emiri’s condition. It was Leviathan that did that and Savayna, along with Jaakuna(though probably not consciously), only knew of her power. Gods, Savayna truly knew her power better than anyone. How could it get this bad? Leviathan with Zodiark. “You don’t understand, Grant. Leviathan isn’t going to stop until she controls it all: Rozarria, Dalmasca, Archadia - all of it. She is after Ivalice. She wants it to burn with her at the top of it all.” Savayna manically said, her voice high, and a sense of paranoia clear in her voice and in her eyes. “It doesn’t matter if we have our espers, or whatever, Leviathan is just too strong!” her voice got even higher.

Jaakuna was right about that much. Letting out a long, slow breath, she would flop backwards onto the bed, sinking into it slightly. Closing her eyes for a moment, she wanted to drift off to sleep right away, but there was something else that bothered her. She wasn't quite sure whether to bring it up again or not, but she figured she may as well get it out while she could.

"I know this isn't the time...but what Lola had said made me think." She admitted to Jaakuna with a small frown. "Twelve Espers...yet Lola claimed she had one." She wondered out loud. "Do you think it was a bluff?"

Nadeline would have been outright insulted had Wesley not continue to talk. Giving him a scowl, she would sit up properly as she would listen to him intently. It seemed he had planned to make a return visit to Dalmasca after all. She should have figured as much; no doubt the threat of war on the horizon had everyone on edge, and it was the logical thing to do. Cassandra was the only Dalmascan royal left besides Wesley, she could probably use his advice on a few things.

Stretching her arms above her head, Nadeline would nod at Wesley. "Sounds like a plan. Shall we go tomorrow, then?" She asked him rather cheerfully, batting her eyelashes at him. "It wouldn't do for my fiance to go alone now, would it?"

"Levi is also human. Mortal." Grant reminded her, trying to get her to get a hold of herself. "It doesn't matter how strong she is. Just like Zodiark, Levi will fall as well. The only difference between her and every other enemy we have encountered will be the effort needed to bring her down." He stated, looking at her rather fiercely. Was what he said true? Or was he trying to convince himself? No, that was what he believed, anyway. Shion acknowledged their power. Everyone was going strong...except...for him. But that was only a matter of time. "You're not alone, Savayna. We're all here for you."

"That's a really good question." Jaakuna said, thumb against his lips, his teeth biting down on it lightly.

If what Lola said was a bluff, then she was truly crazy. She couldn't possibly believe that Jaakuna, Emiri, or anyone that she told would believe her, would she? That was such an outragous thing to even believe. However, if she actually did have an Esper, then that made things truly complicated and worse considering what was on the horizon. If she truly did have an Esper, then that meant Lola was not only losing her sanity(as seen from how she enjoyed the sight of the destruction and news of the deaths of the citizens of Stigma), but it meant she was dangerous. There was only one question that remained.

"If she truly does have an Esper—that being a huge if—which one does she have?" Jaakuna asked both himself and Emiri. "The ones, to my knowledge, that are accounted for are our and the others' Espers—Belias, the Gigas, Chaos, Walker of the Wheel, Mataeus, the Corrupt, Zeromus, the Condemner, Hashmaal, Bringer of Order, and Ultima, the High Seraph. Added to that, I remember that Aloa and Vlyn have the Death Seraph, Zalera. And my cousin, Ixion, has the lightning Esper, Adrammelech, the Wroth. Of course, let us not forget how that Harris guy pretty much stole that one Esper in Rabanstre's sewers, Cúchulainn, the Impure from us." Jaakuna said, recalling his memory of the Espers that, in their travels, either by his own account or what he was told, have been claimed. "So, according to what I know, that leaves Exodus, the Judge-Sal, Shemhazai, the Whisperer, and Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud unclaimed." Jaakuna said, scratching his head somewhat, "damn it, I wish I had Nadeline's tome, or her brain. Call her what you want, she definitely has a knack for knowledge." Jaakuna laughed.

Once again, Nadeline had surprised Wesley. To think, with all that in mind, with knowing that he had planned to go back to Rabanastre tomorrow, she wanted to come along. Wesley did look confused, though. It seemed that Nadeilne misunderstood what his intentions were. She seemed to think that he was just going back there for a short time. She had no idea that he was planning on staying there. Should he tell her? Should he tell her that tonight may be the last night they could possible have together for a long time? He has to. Wesley may, in some situations, be a lot like Jaakuna in his undying will and often reckless behavior, but he has never willingly lied to Nadeline. He has never kept anything from her that he had a choice in. He never told her anything that wasn't true, and he wasn't going to start now.

"Nadeline, my love, because you are the best thing that has happened to me since my father's untimely death, I feel like I owe you the whole truth." Wesley said, still looking at her. "When I said I plan on going back to Rabanastre, it is not for a mere visit to see how my sister is doing or to make sure the possibility of war doesn't affect my people." he continued, "when I go back to Rabanstre—my home—I plan on staying there for good." Wesley disappointingly admitted.

"Being with you, with Jaakuna, with Emiri, with Grant, and even Savayna, has been the greatest times of my life. It has opened my eyes to what Ivalice has to offer outside of the walls of Rabanastre. But, with the war most likely coming, I need to come to the realization that I cannot continue this anymore. When I return to Rabanastre, I will take my rightful place as King of Dalmasca." Wesley told her, knowing full well that this news would be disheartening, to say the least. However, Wesley felt like Nadeline deserved to hear the whole truth, and she deserved to hear it from him.

Levi, a mortal? Okay, Savayna would give Grant that one. She is mortal, but a human being? There was no way. Grant really had no idea just how terrifyingly, horrendously, creepy that woman was. He had no idea the things she has done and what has happened to her because of said things she has done. Grant truly had no idea what she did and what she was. How could he? Grant didn't grow up in Archadia where Levi was always around you. Grant didn't even have the slightest clue what she was like, and Savayna wasn't blaming him because of that. She knew that Grant only saw the tip of what Levi was really like. She knew that he only saw just the beginning of what Leviathan was really capable of.

As she was about to say more about how Leviathan was unstoppable, even with their espers' help, Savayna saw the look in Grant's eyes. She saw something in them that somehow made her smile. It made her laugh, as well. Possibly inappropriate of her to do so, but she did. It was perhaps the first laugh since she went on a fit about Leviathan, but she did. "You're right, I suppose," Savayna laughed again, shaking her head. Apparently Savayna Glacie was going mad.

"Exodus...Hamut possesses him, this much I am sure of. That was the day he appeared before Savayna and I at the Mosphoron Highwaste." She would raise an eyebrow as she would do her best to remember. "Shemhazzai...I believe Nadeline informed me that Michel had obtained it from the time they were ambushed in Giruvegan the first time we went." Common sense dictated that Famfrit was the only one left. Still, something about that just didn't add up. Then again, Lola herself made no sense, so was it worth even thinking about?

"All that reading seemed to pay off, it seems. Though who knew it would end up being useful this way?" Emiri frowned. "I wonder if she'll forgive me."

Wesley was leaving? For the first time in what seemed like a long time, Nadeline was openly shocked. Definitely had been a while, considering she was rarely fazed by anything. She was rather quiet as she would listen, though she couldn't hide her rather crestfallen expression. It was funny, they had just been talking about what they would do once everything was said and done, but now that he was leaving, she felt that for once she didn't know what to do or how to react.

Placing her hands on her lap, Nadeline looked at Wesley seriously. "If that is so...you must be serious." She would reply slowly. "I just...didn't think it would be so soon."

That was all he was going to get after all he said? Grant shook his head, patting Savayna's head in return. "You'll find that I'm right about most things." He informed her, tapping his temple. "The curse of having a logical mind, I suppose. At this point it's push or shove, and I don't intend to go down without a fight."

"So, grandfather has the Judge-Sal, huh?" Jaakuna said, a laugh coming from his mouth.

He probably should be surpirsed that Hamut had Exodus, but he really wasn't. Growing up in Archadia and how he perceived his grandfather to me, it made sense that he would be granted the Judge-Sal Esper. What was the shocker for Jaakuna was the fact that Michelangelo, the son of the Golden Wolf of Archadia's Imperial Court, had an Esper. Jaakuna hadn't remembered Michel to be any more than Savayna's lapdog, but then again, there were a lot of things that Jaakuna didn't know about certain people he was confident didn't have things to hide.

"So, I guess that only leaves Famfrit, but something isn't adding up," Jaakuna admitted, looking at Emiri with uncertain eyes. He just couldn't place it. There was something that wasn't fitting. "I know I may sound like a crazy person, but I just know that something isn't right with that scenario." Jaakuna said, suddenly hearing the whispers of Belias, "even my esper agrees. He couldn't tell exactly, but he agrees with me that Lola and Famfrit doesn't fit. Then again, Belias tells me that Famfrit is the shy one of the Scions of Darkness, so maybe he's scared of Lola like a lot of people are." Jaakuna said, trying to determine exactly what didn't add up. "What about yours? Since Aloa quelled your psycho-killer rage, has Chaos tried reaching out to you?" Jaakuna really hated asking about Chaos. The very thought of him interfering with Emiri again was enough to set him into a blazing fit of rage.

Though he dropped quite the bombshell on Nadeline, Wesley hadn't expected that, she of all people, would be deathly silent. It was true that, before the events that happened at Giruvegan and Stigma, Wesley hadn't, even for one second, considered that he would return home for good until the dangers of Zodiark were purged from Ivalice. However, due to the possibility, no matter how minimal, of war coming to his homeland, it changed his perspective of a lot of things, namely playing adventurer with the others.

Looking at her, listening to her words carefully, and choosing his own as such, Wesley took a deep breath. "Trust me, if the circumstances were different, or if my home of Dalmasca wasn't going to potentially be caught in the cross-hairs of the war that's brewing, I wouldn't even consider this." Wesley told Nadeline, his hands on hers, eyes looking at hers, "but just as I know if the roles were reversed and Stigma—as well as the entire country of Rozarria—were caught in the cross-hairs of war between the neighboring countries, I know you would stay here despite the wanting of adventure with me and the others." Wesley said, knowing what he said to be true, and he was sure that Nadeline knew that as well. "This is why I have to return to Dalmasca. This is why, despite my personal feelings, and my preference to stay with you, to stay with the others aboard the Ifrit, I have to go back, and become the King my country hasn't had since my father passed." Wesley, though he didn't mean to, said in a louder voice than his usual tone. It seemed to be laced with a kind of desperateness that was closely connected to his love for his people, but also it seemed to have a underlying tone of regret and confliction that was tied to his love for his friends that he made and the love for Nadeline.

Savayna grunted in annoyance. "You can never just take a win modestly, can you?" she sighed again, half-smiling at Grant.

Despite his obvious arrogance that he had most of the time and that often unnecessary sarcastic comment he would make, Savayna couldn't deny those were traits of his that she found kind of attractive—well, in a anger-inducing kind of way. Despite that, she knew it came from a good place, even if you would have to dig really, really, really deep to find the true meaning of what he was saying. Maybe that was why they somehow got along. When she wasn't feeling so down about herself, Savayna had the same arrogance, the same sarcasm in her voice, the same logical mind. Actually, the more she thought about it, she and Grant had a lot of similarities, more so than she and Jackson had. Which begged the question..

"Say Grant," Savayna said, rubbing her left arm with her other as it was crossed, eyes half-darting away from Grant's own, "something's been on my mind since Giruvegan." she said, same posture of arm-rubbing-arm, same head half-turned away from Grant. "When we were going through The Great Crystal, and the subject came up about Nadeline and Wesley getting married and Jackson and Emiri getting married, what about us?" she asked, her cheeks already starting to get red. And of course they would. She pretty much asked him about their future and them getting married.

Famfrit and Lola, huh? Emiri had to agree with Jaakuna there, as she didn't feel like they would make a good match. Wait, how would she guess that anyway? She would halt that train of thought as Jaakuna would inquire about Chaos. It had been some time--no, she hadn't heard from Chaos since she and Grant went to the Dalmascan Estersands. Ever since then, the Esper hadn't uttered a single word. She remembered trying to reach him recently, but even now, he would not heed her. He was definitely around, that much she could tell, but he was silent.

"No." Emiri admitted. "Though I can't say it's a loss."

As Wesley would speak, he would actually remind her of herself. Her duty to her country would always come before anything, so there was absolutely no arguing against it. Wesley made sure to look right at her, as if demanding her attention, and Nadeline was somewhat at a loss. If only she knew she could stop Reia...and yet, at the end of it all, Wesley really would return to Dalmasca after all. Why did it seem so surreal? She hadn't denied it. Perhaps she had gotten attached to their little group, their travels, getting to see the world. The thought of having to stay behind was...difficult, to say the least. No, that was a lie. The thought of having to leave Wesley behind was what was truly difficult.

Letting out a small sigh, Nadeline would look at Wesley's hands holding hers. "I understand. It must be done." She would agree. "Though I do wonder what the group will do without us."

Grant was not modest nor was he one usually celebrate his victories. No, he was humble, but when he was right he was right as always. He had to admit, though, Savayna of all people admitting he was right was just too sweet to savor. She was dominant, he rather subservient, so to see her concede was...a treat. Still, he truly was confident in their group, though Savayna would take a change of topic. He almost wanted to bask in his victory some more, but would perish the thought; his humble mother would be pretty disappointed.

Savayna would bring up the subject of, once again, Giruvegan. Grant could already feel the migraine of the crystal maze coming, until she would bring up the rest of the group. Back when Nadeline would announce that she and Wesley would wed, to be more precise. She asked about them. Grant didn't quite understand the question, even as her face would redden.

"What, are you asking if we will marry?" He asked, his tone completely oblivious to the connotation, though he would recall his little daydream from before. "Big weddings just never seemed too genuine, though with my status I have little choice. Hmm...we could get married in private first, before the public ceremony? I would like something on the beach. Something small, with a few friends and family." His voice became light as he would imagine it, a small smile on his face.

Though he agreed with her, Jaakuna still found himself disappointed that Chaos had radio silence with Emiri. He had to wonder exactly what was going on with that dick of an Esper. Sure, he caused Emiri's memory to take a vacation for a while, but that still didn't change the fact that it worried Jaakuna that he wasn't talking to Emiri. Either something was wrong with him, or perhaps something was hindering him from doing so.

"Could it be that Zodiark refuses to let Chaos speak to you?" Jaakuna asked, pondering on that question for a moment. It did make sense. If Zodiark was truly after Emiri through the proxy of Leviathan, then it would stand to reason that he might want to, at all costs, to prevent the Walker of the Wheel from making contact with Emiri. "I guess it's not important. I was just curious about the dickhead, is all." Jaakuna shrugged, abandoning that inquiry for the night. "In any case, you should get back to sleeping. Today has been a long one, and truth be told, I'm starting to feel the z's coming along as well." Jaakuna laughed.

"Wait us?" Wesley eyes blinked for a second.

Did Nadeline really say what Wesley thought she did? Was she saying that she was going to go with him? Wesley shook his head, non-verbally refusing to let her go with him.

"Nadeline, I understand that you wish not to go anywhere without me, but the others still need you with them." he said, "I know that you do not want it to be, but going with me would mean that you potentially will be forsaking any possibility of organizing your undertaking of your Aunt Reia away from the throne, and handing it to either your own self or Grant." Wesley explained, stating that if she were to truly go with him, all of which she told him about getting Reia off the throne of Rozarria wouldn't come to pass. "Despite knowing all of this, do you still wish to go with me back to Rabanastre, back to Dalmasca?" Wesley asked Nadeline, eyes locked on his fiancè's sapphire eyes.

If someone had told Savayna Glacie that Grant not only had an idea of where he wanted to get married, but also knew where it would be, how it would happen, and everything in there. Savayna was embarrassed for asking, but now she was embarrassed for a whole different reason. She shook her head and found herself laughing somewhat. Apparently she found it funny. "Why stop there? Why not just ask my father for his blessing?" Savayna sarcastically said, laughing.

Emiri stared at Jaakuna for a while, though she would end up in agreement with him, shuffling under the covers as she would let out a sigh. Despite his dismissal, it did make her somewhat curious. She would reach out to Chaos once more, though once again, she would receive nothing. No snide comment, no calling her his Scion, nothing. Was it really such a bad thing? Or should she be worried? Her powers seemed to work without him being around, so she had reason to guess that maybe, for now, he was just ignoring her.

Putting that thought to bed, Emiri looked at Jaakuna once more. "You'll stay here with me, right?" Came out her muffled question as she would bring the blankets over her mouth.

Wesley reiterated his point. Nadeline would raise an eyebrow at him. If she had to be honest, he really was right in every way. But... "What sort of Queen would I be if I were to abandon my King in his time of need?" She chided him, wagging a finger at him. "If anything, I must go. How else will you tell your sister of our engagement? My future kingdom of Dalmasca should recognize its future Queen as well, don't you think?" She reminded him with a rather telling tone. "My father, my mother, Aloa, Grant...they don't need me as much as you will. Rozarria may be in turmoil, but I believe in Grant. Before we depart I will do my best to make a quick case, I am sure he will listen." She would tell him in earnest, fixing her nightgown so that it was more appropriate, though she would pause as she would reach up to her hair. "" She stated as she would tuck a stray hair behind her ear. "I should be offended that you don't want me to go with you."

Grant looked at Savayna, a rather bewildered expression on his face. Why was she laughing? He scowled at her, unpleased that his girlfriend thought his wedding plans were funny. No way he was going to admit it stung a little too. When she would bring up her father, Grant's eyebrows were raised. "Hmm...if I were to, where would I find him, exactly?" He asked, crossing his arms.

Jaakuna yawned, hearing Emiri's question. He smiled and laughed at how innocent she could be sometimes. It still amazed him that, after all this time, she was still quite innocent underneath it all. He found it super adorable. "Of course I will. As if I'm going to leave your side after what all happened today." Jaakuna said, giving her a wide grin. "So, shall we prepare for bed?" Jaakuna asked, smiling at Emiri.

She was right. She wouldn't be a good future queen to his future king if Nadeline stayed behind while Wesley went back home to Dalmasca. She would also say that WEsley's sister would need to know of her future sister-in-law. He chuckled at that. He remember Cassandra being less than somewhat unenthusiastic about Nadeline being friendly with Wesley. In fact, if he recalled correctly, she wasn't a fan of Nadeline's. She would probably be thrilled to hear that Wesley and Nadeline were enggaged to be married.

"Nadeline, I'm not trying to disuade you from coming with me or staying by my side, but going with me to Rabanastre would mean abandoning everything you set out to do for your own country. I do not want you to come if you aren't absolutely sure." As Wesley said that, she would state that everyone could do without her. She had high faith in her uncle and she would simply have to trust he would do what he could to ensure that he become the next Emperor of Rozarria. Wesley silently admitted defeat. "Very well. I guess this is one battle I won't win, is it?" Wesley laughed, looking at Nadeline. "I guess you will be coming with me back to Rabanastre where we can begin the rest of our lives." Wesley, though it was to be something to be joyous about, seemed mixed on the matter. Perhaps he was going to miss playing hero with the others. "But forgive me if I begin to sound like Jaakuna—something that I find happening too frequently as of late—but I do not wish to wait until tomorrow, Nadeline." WEsley said, scooting closer to his fiance, his left hand stroking her left cheek, fingers running through her golden locks. "I do believe he would say it best," Wesley said, his eyes not leaving Nadeline's sapphire gaze, "it's now or never." he said, channeling the live-for-the-moment spirit that Jaakuna had. A kiss was planted on Nadeline as he gently guided her to the pillow behind her. Based on what Wesley was doing, he was going to show exactly how deep his love for Nadeline ran. He would show her just how much she meant to him.

"Wait, you can't be serious?" Savayna asked Grant, looking at him.

After a moment or two of just looking at his face, trying to spot any hint of sarcasm or soemthing to convince her that Grant was yanking her chain. She stared and stared, eyes wide. She wanted to see something in his eyes, in his expression that would make her see that Grant was just kidding, but she couldn't find it, and that's where she realized that he actually was serious. If Savayna was blushing before, her cheeks suddenly because beet red.

"So you are serious.." Savayna said, shaking her head. "Okay, so you really want to know where my father is?" Savayna asked rhetorically. Of course he wanted to know. "Alright, here's the thing," she sighed. How do I tell him? How do I tell Grant that I don't know where my folks are, not since that day. Savayna looked at Grant, still as serious as ever. "I don't exactly know where they are. Thing is, not too long after my father made a deal with Hamut, my home village burned down, supposedly by a wildfire or something like that. I don't exactly know where my folks migrated to. Last I heard, which was about a month or so ago, they were taking shelter somewhere Mt Bur-Omisace, but I doubt they're still there due to recent events." Savayna said, sounding disappointed. "Besides, even if we were to find him or my mother or any of my family, there's no guarantee that they'd approve of me and you, whatever that may be.." Savayna said, again sounding negative.

Well, I never thought you would leave me before, but you did. The rather bitter thought crossed her mind, though she wisely chose to keep it under wraps. The last thing Emiri wanted right now was to get in yet another argument with Jaakuna--that and sleep sounded so tempting she might just stay in place and sleep with no regards to her boyfriend. Emiri would stretch her arms above her head, though they would feel heavy. It looked like she was just going to sleep in whatever she was wearing after all. Snaking her way under the blankets, she looked up at him curiously.

"How long are you going to keep watching instead of joining me?" She pouted.

And that was that. Nadeline didn't want to admit that it was only with a heavy heart that she had reached the conclusion, but at the very least, Wesley finally believed her. That would just have to do, and as she would pull her hair out of her bun, she would flip her hair over her shoulders. She was only half-paying attention when Wesley would bring up Jaakuna--oh, they would need to have a talk about his acting-like-Jaakuna antics, that much was for sure--but he would catch her attention as he would run his hand through her hair. As she turned to him, he would mention it was now or never. But for what? That question was quickly (and pleasantly) answered with a kiss, though her heart started beating against her chest it almost made her feverish. She sure did like to talk about things she knew nothing of, didn't she? Still, she was...happy. A little sad, yes, but happy.

"I love you, Wesley." She told him softly.

Grant nodded, a rather determined look on his face. "Mt. Bur-Omisace, sounds like we should pay a visit to the Gran Kiltas." He made note most assuredly, outright ignoring Savayna's Negative Nancy attitude. When she would mention him gaining approval, he would raise an eyebrow at her, though he had an extremely deadpan look on his face. "To be quite honest, if I can get not only your approval and your heart, I believe I can sway the opinion of anyone in Ivalice." He reminded her, shaking his head at her for a moment. "Alright then, once we find out what's happening tomorrow, we can depart to Mt. Bur-Omisace."

Jaakuna looked at Emiri curiously, an eyebrow raised as she seemed to be deep in thought. He wanted to ask her what was on her mind, but as he would see not even a full second later, she would shake her head, and have the look of how her body was telling her to sleep or something. That would be further be evident as Emiri look at Jaakuna, asking him how long he was going to look at her. Her laughed lightly. "Obviously not any longer," he commented, joining Emiri as he would wrap his arms around her, making sure she was as close as she possibly could be to him without sacrificing any sense of comfort.

As she said those words to him, Wesley genuinely smiled. It wasn't that he didn't already know that she felt that way for him. Of course Wesley knew she loved him, or else she would have never accepted his marriage proposal. Or else she wouldn't have said, or did, half of the things that she did or said for/to him. He knew that, and yet when she told him she loved him, it got to him. For a moment, Wesley was a bit speechless. Maybe it was the fact that she was saying goodbye to all that she knew because he decided that it was time for him to go back home, or maybe it was something else entirely. Regardless, Wesley couldn't find himself to respond instantly. A moment would pass before he would.

"Nadeline, I love you too," Wesley knew that was the first thing he would say was, but more seemed to be coming. "You mean the world to me, and if I haven't said—or did enough—to show you, then let tonight be the night that I show you once and for all that you, Nadeline Lenore Roselia, are the only one for me." Wesley said, his eyes never leaving those sapphire stones that he could spend the rest of his days looking at.

Well that was unexpected.

Savayna had to take a moment. She scanned the area in her room that she and Grant were in, and spotted a chair against the wall. It was only a few feet away, so she walked over there, leaving Grant to be wherever he was at. She really needed to sit. After all of that, Savayna was still in a bit of a shock after Grant pretty much said that he wanted to go to Mt. Bur-Omisace, where to her most recent knowledge, her parents were in hiding/shelter/whatever. To her, that meant furthered the idea of him wanting her father's approval.

"Alright, so we're going to Omisace. Cool." Savayna's eyes were staring at the wall, her hands on her lap. She didn't even make direct eye contact with Grant. She was lightly nodding her head. "Fine, guess there's no choice. Uh-huh, Omisace it is.." Savayna said, same direction at the wall, same still-in-shock look.

Oh boy, if her heart beated any faster, she was sure it would pop right out of her mouth. No, more like burst through her chest, Wesley's stare was probably more intense than he had intended. Which was certainly saying something, considering that Nadeline was usually so poised and collected. Did he enjoy it? Maybe, she couldn't read him for once. What exactly was running through his mind right now? He hadn't responded to her just yet, and she actually felt...anxious? Wow, she hadn't felt such a way in a long time. His eyes studied hers carefully, and it seemed like an eternity would pass before he would speak again. She would slowly release a breath she hadn't been aware that she was holding, though she couldn't hide her rather hot cheeks as he would continue to speak. What was he saying? What did he mean? No, she knew, but was she ready? No wait what if that wasn't what he meant?

Nadeline's mind was scrambling through every single possibility, though she would shift underneath him. No, no thinking, just acting. No, she was too nervous now. All that talk for nothing, it seemed! What happened to the days where she was the one in charge? Ah, they were but a fleeting memory now, it seemed, and what was worse, she actually found herself speechless. No, just a single word managed to escape her: "Wesley..." It came out so quiet she almost didn't realize she had said it herself, really.

Savayna was acting awfully strange. Or rather, she was being very un-Savayna-ish. Grant watched her take a seat, nodding mostly to herself. Had he gone too far? Did he do something wrong again? No, had Grant done something wrong, he would have been more than certain he would have been corrected or at the very least yelled at for it. But no, the blonde woman had decided instead to perhaps get lost in her thoughts or at least let her mind wander elsewhere. Was what he had asked really such a shock to her? He thought she would be, well...happy. Or at least glad that he was taking some interest, but once again, Grant seemed to have done the wrong thing. Ah, the story of his life...

Perhaps, then, a change of subject? Letting out a small cough to clear his throat, Grant eyed Savayna wearily as he rummaged through his own mind to think of a different topic. His eyes followed hers, though they led only to the other wall. The room was quaint, but it served its purpose, and for that no one complained. Grant slowly walked over, making sure not to get too close as he would raise an eyebrow at her. He may as well ask. "Everything alright there?"

As Savayna sat against a chair against the wall, her mind wasn't completely in the room with Grant. Half of it was in Mt. Bur-Omisace. She was imagining the scenario in which they found her parents and they met Grant. It was at that point that her father didn't approve of Grant nor did her mother. All they would see was a Rozarrian who was known across the land as a ruthless son of a bitch, and that they would never be able to change. In her mind, Savayna saw that, and that's what had her having a mini-freakout session internally.

At the moment that Grant said something to her, Savayna's head rose up, looking at him. "Huh?" she said, looking at him with blinking eyes. "Oh, I don't know," Savayna said, "it's just that, if we find my parents, there's no guarantee that they'll approve of...us." Savayna admitted.

No father in their right mind would approve of Grant, this much he knew. Though what was there to not love? His dashing good looks? His status as an enemy prince? His previously psycho persona? The fact that he was set to marry another woman not too long ago? Clearly Savayna was over-exaggerating and simply too nervous to present him to her family. Although the more he thought about it, perhaps leaving out his previous engagement was for the best, the rest of the details could be ironed out at any time. She was married once, as well, so if a buffoon like Jaakuna could get her hand from her father with success, then Grant definitely would.

(Albeit in the back of his mind he distinctly remembered something about a political marriage and benefiting both families...ah, details.)

Grant instead would take his beloved's hand in his, calmly patting it, as if to soothe her worries with such a simple action. Of course, he knew it would not assuage her, but instead, it was actually more to reassure himself. All he needed to do was stay with confidence and determination. Easier said than done, but... "We'll just have to see, then," He shrugged a shoulder as he would tilt his head slightly, as if trivializing her freakout. "We will go, and then we can take it as it comes."

Savayna’s panic could not be denied. It begged to be on the surface. She knew that, as did Grant. For a reason unknown to her in the state that she was in, Savayna felt his hand on hers, rubbing it comfortingly. A single thought passed through her mind like a water down a stream. He truly loves me. Or cares for me. I don’t know which it is. Frankly, I don’t care. He makes me feel secure. Safe. I’ll listen to him, and see what happens.

In a silent surrender, Savayna lay her head on his shoulder. She didn’t want to move from this spot. Whatever happened after she would fall asleep would not be of any consequence to her. She just wanted to stay like this until she drifted.

And stay there she did.

By nothing short of time passing, the morning rays of sunlight intruded upon the room that Savayna and Grant were both in. the sudden light would reveal that the two of them had not moved from the place they were at just hours ago. Savayna was perched against Grant’s broad shoulders, clinging his right arm with both of hers, and her head snug against his neck. She was soundly asleep, smiling blissfully.

Soon that bliss would be interrupted by an unwanted sound: a knock on the door. “Wake-up call!” Said someone, opening the door.

Savayna, startled by this, groaned as she began to open her eyes. Crust of dust fell from the sides of her eyes, and she felt an uncomfortable knot in her neck. Serves me right for sleeping like that. She stretched her legs before she would stand up. No doubt Grant would be waking up soon as well, given that she was not quiet when she groaned.

Hey, you awake?” Savayna said, gently poking Grant’s side. She got no reply, so she poked again. “Graaant~” Her voice was somewhat low. She still got nothing, so she shoved him as hard as she could, pushing him completely off the chair, and right to his face. “I bet you’re awake now.” Savayna uncharacteristically laughed.

You’re sure up bright and early.” Savayna heard Jaakuna say as he stopped midway in the hallway.

Savayna saw him. She tried to conceal her laugh, but to no avail. “And as are you.” Savayna raised an eyebrow. “Shouldn’t you be with Emiri?” Savayna asked. She remembered how intense things got last night, so she was actually surprised that Jaak was out and about.

Everyone’s in the dining hall. I was actually sent to get you two, so —” Jaakuna stopped mid-sentence. He noticed Grant face-first on the floor. “Do I even want to know?” Jaakuna asked with caution.

Well, it’s actually a funny story.

Cool. You can tell me later. But for now, get him up, and hurry to the dining hall.”

What’s the big rush?” she asked Jaakuna.

Jaakuna simply shrugged.

Either he really didn’t know or he was hiding something. Regardless, Savayna knew he was right. It was about time that they moved. “Fine, we’ll be there shortly.” Savayna said. Jackson nodded, and went along his merry way.

As Savayna would stand up, feeling her joints release the tension they had been building up, she looked to Grant. “It’s okay to stop playing dead. We have to get to the dining hall. So, chop chop!” Savayna walked passed Grant. She stopped at the door as she would wait for him to come.

Grant slowly rose from his position, lightly dusting himself off. It was more for show than anything, as the maids usually kept the palace completely spotless, though he did it anyway. He felt stiff, though he wouldn't complain as he would join Savayna and together the pair would walk to the dining hall. The atmosphere seemed heavy, all things considered, as while their bodies were healed, their minds were clearly in a place far away. Nadeline was pensive, which wasn't unusual, but she seemed deep in thought. Emiri herself was rather quiet, barely stifling a yawn, and for some reason Grant couldn't help but wonder what was troubling her.

Deciding to make an attempt to lighten the mood, instead Grant initiated the greeting, "Good morning."

Nadeline snapped out of her thoughts, nearly jumping out of her seat in surprise. "Ah, good morning!" She greeted him, though he couldn't help but notice her rather apologetic look.

Emiri looked up from her untouched plate, a small frown on her face. "Good morning," She parroted him with a small shrug, though her look became more curious as she noticed the pair together. Were they together during the night?

There have been many beautiful sightings in Stigma. From the beaches to the streets; from the architecture to the stoned streets. But nothing has more beauty than Stigma’s Palace; more specifically, the intricate crafting of its halls. Marble and stone of varying shades of gold and beige are lined up in rows, giving the already-elegant palace an enhanced feeling.

The Dining Hall is no exception to this. It’s surrounded by those rows of marble columns. The natural light from the sun beaming through the glass windows shed their brilliance into the hall, revealing a lengthy table with thirteen seats(two at both ends, and five on one side, and six on the other). The floors were smooth like the marble columns.

In the middle of the dining hall was the table that had food spread across it. Anything one could want for breakfast was there: various forms of eggs from scrambled to fried; from poached to sunny-sideup; from soft boiled to hard-boiled. Then there was various waffle and pancake items, toast(white and whole grain wheat) with multiple jams and jellies, fresh fruit, juice and milk, and the more complex, specific items.

Around the table, Reia sat at the head of the table. Of course this was because she was the Empress. And the Empress always sat at the head of the table. To her left and right sat her brother, Lorenzo, and his wife, Karolina. Just next to her, occupying two seats on the right, were the two Viera - Aloa and Vlyn. Opposite of those two was recently-engaged Wesley and Nadeline. Opposite of those two were Savayna and Grant. And the last two seats, of course, was Jaakuna and Emiri. Since neither of them had any blood or marital ties to the royal family, of course. Go outsiders, go!

Among the chatter and silverware clanking against the glass plates, Jaakuna would notice the absence of those sounds coming from Emiri. Curious, he asked, Hey, is everything alright? He noticed that her waffles went untouched, unbuttered, and without syrup on them. Considering waffles were her jam, Jaakuna became worried right away.

Emiri wanted to say ‘yes’, but the truth of the matter was that yesterday’s events had taken their toll. Or better said, the reality of it all placed a very heavy weight on her shoulders. Her mother was still dead, her father on the brink of it, and for the first time in a long time, she felt completely alone. Her clover hairtie was around her wrist at the moment; she couldn’t bear to wear her mother’s memento, nor could she bear to be without it at the moment. She simply gave Jaakuna a shrug in response, picking up her fork, though she wouldn’t actually do anything with it.

All the while, the others were engaging in conversation with their food in their mouths. Well, at least Savayna was. Various topics were being discussed: the state of Stigma and what was going to happen since the fight with Lola, the overwhelming Myst around Ivalice, the impending doom that Zodiark presented to all of Ivalice, and whether or not Grant and Savayna had done the deed.

It’s none of your business! Savayna shouted, louder than she had originally intended. That hushed the murmurs with precision.

Nadeline let out a rather nervous laugh, immediately shrinking back into silence. Grant stared at her, confused. Never in his life had he seen Nadeline fidget so much. Her hands went from picking at her food, to wringing her napkin in her hands, to toying with her knife; considering the fact that she was the epitome of etiquette, something was up. Once the two locked eyes, Grant narrowed his, to which Nadeline shook her head at him. He would peer at her, though he would take his fork, pointing it at her. I know you’re up to something. He thought to himself. Nadeline gave him an apologetic, half hearted shrug, as if reading his thoughts, though the scraping of a chair would catch Grant’s attention as Reia would rise out of her seat. A silence followed, although Grant recognized Reia’s rather serious expression.

Karolina looked at the Empress, curious. “I assume the Council has made its decision, then,” She said, a frown on her face.

Reia scoffed--Emiri couldn’t help but notice that her expression matched that of Grant’s--and crossed her arms. “The way you state it would make it seem as if there was ever a choice,” Reia replied, though as she would turn to make her leave, she would unintentionally jerk back.

Nadeline’s hands flew to her mouth, suppressing a horrified gasp as she realized that her father had intentionally stepped on Reia’s gown to keep her from leaving. Lorenzo clucked his tongue at his sister, wagging a finger. “Oh no you don’t,” He chastised her, motioning back towards her seat. “You’ve got some explanations due, young lady.

Grant let out a groan, already knowing exactly what was coming next. Reia narrowed her eyes at Lorenzo, a very irritated look on her face. “Explanation? Excuse me, I had no idea I had to unravel every idea before you,” She snapped. “Where were you when the more difficult choices were made?

Hey, as your big brother it’s my responsibility to look after my little sister!

Reia lifted one hand in the air very slowly, capturing Lorenzo and Grant’s attention. She would face the back of her hand towards Lorenzo, several of her fingers curling up. Nadeline’s jaw dropped as she realized that the Empress had left a single finger in the air, and that was NOT something a lady should do. As she was about to exclaim, Reia lifted her other hand, repeating the notion, and this time it was Lorenzo’s turn to scoff.

Oi, Grant! She just flipped me off!” He hollered at his younger brother.

Grant let out a groan. “Damn it, Lorenzo, why in the hell can’t you just be honest for once?!” Grant couldn’t help but yell back.

Hey! You’re supposed to be on my side!

This is it. These people held the very future of Rozarria in their hands, and at the moment the current Empress was flipping her brother off. Aloa seemed amused, though she would nudge Vlyn as he wasn’t able to suppress his chuckling. Reia dropped her arms, intending to walk away, but Lorenzo’s foot on her dress pinned her down. She mustered every ounce of hatred she had and glared at Lorenzo. “Shall I call a knight to slice off your foot? It seems to be stuck on my gown,” She asked, her voice venomous and dripping with sarcasm. “Honest to gods, Lorenzo, how much longer will you inconvenience me?

Lorenzo frowned at her. “Come on, Reia.

No, you come on.

I’m here now,” Lorenzo told her, a little more serious, though he kept his foot on her dress. “We all are. And we need to clear the air while we have the chance.

A silence fell, thick with tension, though it was short lived as Reia would take her seat. Clasping her hands together, she would take one look around the room, at each Rozarrian, at ones who had traveled far, at the outsiders who had been graced with her presence. She decided now was as good a time as ever, though it seemed she had no place to start. Lorenzo looked at Nadeline, motioning towards Reia.

Nadeline was surprised, though she supposed she was as good a place to start as any. “Reia...will you continue to battle the council for the throne?” She asked, starting with the root of the problem.

Reia eyed her goblet curiously, her index finger trailing the edge. “As if the battle was against the Council by itself. No, the struggle for the throne includes my own family, and my people,” She murmured, and it was then that Emiri realized that Reia was actually moping! She was actually bearing herself out there so much it was a shock. She wasn’t the Empress right now, she was just...Reia. “Still, I am not a woman who would pass off her problems without resolution. I have a duty to fulfill, after all…

Nadeline hesitated for a moment, though she still had questions. “If that is the case...then why would you send an assassin after myself and Grant?

Reia immediately stopped what she was doing, raising an eyebrow. “I beg your pardon?

Grant also raised his eyebrow. It must have been genetic. “Lola told us you wanted us eliminated,” He replied slowly.

Why in the world would I murder my own brother in a time of a succession crisis?” Reia asked, narrowing her eyes at Grant.

If I may, Wesley interrupted Reia, earning glances from Savayna and Jaakuna, as if they were saying ‘what are you doing?’ He shot his own glance back. He knew exactly what he was doing.Empress Reia, if I am right in assuming, there was a time where conversations like this weren’t as...civil, correct?

Reia waved her hand at Lorenzo, as if saying ‘look at this idiot’. “Do you truly believe any of our conversations have ever been civil? Have you tried living with this buffoon?” She asked incredulously. “Not to mention in all of this you’re asking if I wanted my own flesh and blood dead.

Empress —

You wanted Grant dead?” Lorenzo gasped rather loudly. “That’s fucked up.

Lorenzo —

Grant shook his head at Lorenzo, scowling at him. “You’re an idiot.

Grant —

Me? She’s the one that’s trying to kill you!” Lorenzo threw his arms in the air. “I feel like this is kind of important!

She just said we have reason to doubt, maybe you should let her talk instead of jumping to conclusions.

I do not jump to conclusions! ...Well, sometimes, but my precious Nadeline just asked, so it must be true!

She is asking for clarification, damn it, Lorenzo!

Turning her attention to her brother, she would stand once more. Before he could trap her however, she would simply take her fan from a nearby table, returning. As she would sit, she would whack her brother upside his head. “No.” She informed the table as a whole. “Whoever gave you that information was either misleading you or outright lying,” She stated, her expression a little sad as she gripped her fan tightly. “I can’t...I am not Roland.

The trio fell silent at the mention of their lost sibling.

Lorenzo, Grant, and Empress Reia, as I was going to say, I believe this is exactly what Nadeline was meaning, Wesley said. Throughout the three times he tried to steer the conversation away from hostile route, he at least would try to whip it back into a civil manner. I do not claim to know your history or how you might’ve been in the past. And frankly, that is not my main concern right now. Even as horrible as it was and what your reasons were for sending an assassin at your brother and niece, I’m sure you thought it was the right course of action at the time, but, Wesley’s voice, much like his eyes, trailed around the table. All eyes were looking at him, then to Reia, then to Lorenzo, then Grant. If you would indulge me, just look at every one here. Wesley gestured to everyone, we are all gathered around a table. Not just us as individuals, but all of Ivalice’s major, governing parties are present: The Viera, Dalmasca, Archadia, and Rozarria. We are here, exchanging words, laughing about topics, and breaking bread together. And it’s possible because of you, Empress Reia. Wesley cleared his throat. Regardless what the reasons were, you are the one responsible for bringing us together. Shouldn’t that be reason enough to hear everyone out? Finally, Wesley asked his question towards the Empress, Reia.

All eyes were on Reia once more, though this time she didn’t seem as moody. Inhaling a breath, she straightened herself up once more as she closed her eyes, opening her fan as waving it gently on herself. There was the Empress everyone was much more familiar with. She would open her eyes once more, not looking at any one person in particular, though she seemed much more calm than before.

Let me make one thing clear,” She stated, raising her voice. “When I contracted Shion, our agreement began as something very simple: to retrieve Emelia Iniabi and to locate the Espers of our world. The two goals coincided with one another, though as time passed, things changed. The Espers were claimed by individuals, after which Shion and Aloa approached me once the issue of Zodiark appeared. We three chose to focus our attention on that, and that alone.

Nadeline furrowed her brow, thinking. “Then...Lola really wasn’t acting with Shion’s orders?” She asked her.

I don’t know what overcame that one,” Reia admitted, fanning herself. “While our contract had changed somewhat, I did not want anyone killed. Should Zodiark be freed, it would have given Ivalice a death sentence--that is something that is very clear now.” Emiri couldn’t help but shuffle in her seat nervously. Boy, was that the understatement of a lifetime. “But we failed. The Viera were forced into a slumber to protect themselves, and Lola has decided to dedicate herself to a new master with her Esper in hand.

Grant paled, recalling her words in the Westersand. He hadn’t told anyone, though it seemed Reia had known. He shook his head, suddenly feeling very ill, and as much as he wanted to say it, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Emiri perked up, looking at Jaakuna and recalling their previous conversation. Now was their chance to find out. “Does that mean you know which Esper she has claimed, Your Eminence?” She asked.

Reia fell silent. Vlyn was surprised, though having stayed quiet this whole time, he motioned for her to continue. Grant looked away, already knowing the answer. “All twelve Espers have been claimed...though there are other ways to take an Esper from someone,” Her voice had lost some of its volume, though everyone could still hear her clearly. “You could willingly give your Esper to someone else...or take it forcibly.

Take it? How?

A dark look was on Reia’s face. “By killing them.

Lola killed someone for their Esper?!

Nadeline shook her head, clearly disturbed, though she noticed Grant’s expression. A realization fell on her, her eyes widening. “You...know who it is?” She asked him. “You know, don’t you?

Grant clenched his fist, shaking his head. “It was back when we were all separated. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to tell anyone, but one thing happened after another, and I suppose...I never found the proper time or place for it,” He stated, raising his head. “I met Lola in the desert...disguised as the person she had murdered. She...she somehow killed Harris.

“Harris?” Wesley asked, looking to anyone willing to fill in the gap,

Jaakuna coughed, taking a sip of his orange juice. He was — Jaakuna heard Savayna cough, I mean is a guy who gave us some trouble. He even managed to sneak one of the espers away from us. He worked for the Empress here. Or was a friend. I don’t really remember exactly what position he had, but I don’t know, he wasn’t a bad guy. From what I could tell, he was principled. Jaakuna said, shrugging somewhat. As he did, he felt a kick at his shin, which prompted him to grunt slightly. He looked across, and saw that Savayna did it, her head gesturing to where Nadeilne was. Oh..sorry, I’ll just eat my eggs. Jaakuna never knew how to put his foot in his mouth.

Reia eyed him curiously, though she seemed to disagree. “No, as Lorenzo said, it’s best to clear the air now while we have the chance,” She stated, gesturing to Jaakuna. “Whatever it is that you want to know, ask now.

Jaakuna wasn’t sure if this was a trap or not. He wasn’t one to cower in fear, but Reia was an intimidating woman. He doesn’t have the best track record with intimidating women. So, Jaakuna leaned to Emiri. “Tell me, is she for real or will this get me in hot water?” he asked Emiri, voice low.

Emiri looked at Jaakuna, equally surprised, but she nodded. “Might as well take advantage of it while you can,” She suggested.

Jaakuna lowly said, Right," as he looked to Reia. There was something in the pit of his stomach that told him to not look directly into her eyes, but after all this time, surely Jaakuna could do that much? After all of the shit she put him and the others through, surely he could look at the person responsible for what’s been happening to them. Of course you can. Ask her your questions. Do before the moment fleets.

There were a lot of things I wanted to say to you, Reia. There have been so many times where I wanted to unleash all of what you put on all of us. I wanted to make sure you knew the pain and suffering you caused all of us. But — Jaakuna let his voice - and words - fall low, less with emotion fuelling him, and more with understanding, — but, after hearing Wesley speak, I don’t have the will to do that any longer. I only have one thing to say to you." Jaakuna said.

Lorenzo leaned over, beckoning Jaakuna. “Boy, speak now, or forever hold your--ARGH!” Lorenzo started, but was interrupted by Reia whacking him with her fan.

I agree. Say it now,” Reia stated, earning her ire from her brother.

If you were going to just agree with me, why did you have to--OW!” Reia whacked him again, and Lorenzo would grumble under his breath, clearly displeased.

Jaakuna cleared his throat. By the Scions, it was dry. He adjusted his shirt, looking at Reia once more. I want two things, but before I name them, I want your word you’ll grant both of them. Jaakuna said, uncharacteristically earnest.

Reia gave him a look that she had previously thrown at Lorenzo. The more he spoke, the more he reminded her of him. Which, at the moment, wasn’t entirely a good thing. Lorenzo seemed to agree, grinning, though Reia raised her fan threateningly, and he remained quiet. “No,” She stated, crossing her arms. “What kind of bargain is that? For all I know you could ask for either something completely ridiculous or something completely out of my reach,” She pointed out.

He’s a good kid,” Lorenzo vouched for Jaakuna, giving him a wink. “He won’t do either, no need to worry about that.

Lorenzo meant well, but both Grant and Reia knew that his vouching actually pushed Reia in the completely opposite direction. Instead, she would look to Grant. Great, she wanted his approval. He looked over at Jaakuna, and then at Emiri, and returned to Reia, giving her a nod. This much would finally make Jaakuna and Grant even. She gestured towards the blonde, urging him to continue.

Jaakuna stood up from his seat, and cleared his throat. Okay, first off, I want you to grant Lord Andre Inabi a retirement from the Rozarrian Army with a full plan that includes enough gil so that he will not have to work another day in what will remain of his life. Jaakuna demanded. He gave Reia a firm, stern gaze.

Papa… Emiri almost burst into tears at that point, but she kept her composure somehow, instead giving Jaakuna a grateful look.

Reia stayed quiet, though it was then that she realized he wasn’t going to continue. Dear gods, if she didn’t know that Lorenzo would forever stay true to his wife, she would have thought he went out and popped another kid somewhere and said child would be Jaakuna. It was like pulling teeth! Though she admitted it was reasonable as it is. “If that is his wish, then of course,” She would agree. “And the other?” It was going to be something ridiculous, no doubt.

As Jaakuna coughed, once more feeling his throat feeling dry, he said,"I want to sign a treaty between our two countries. In this treaty, I want it to be known that we will no longer war with each other. That we will support one another. Jaakuna continued, We — Archadia and Rozarria — have spent so many years fighting, shed so much blood, and cost innocents their lives. I won’t accept it any longer, not with Zodiark on the loose--especially with him on the loose. And I’m sure my brother, Roman, who currently serves as Emperor of Archadia, would agree. In fact, if it would be too much, I’d like a third request, Jaakuna said. Instead of simply standing where he stood, he walked up to Reia, feeling every bit nervous as he was serious, I would like for you to come with me when I set a voyage for Archadia. If this is to go successfully, the two rulers of both countries needs to be there. And, even though I would like to do it here in Stigma, here in Rozarria, I am not the official ruler of Archadia yet. So, if it’s not too much, Jaakuna got down on one knee, left arm across his chest, and his head down. On behalf of the country Archadia and the House of Darcone, I hereby extend a hand of peace, a hand to discuss a treaty with you, Reia Alexandria, of the House Roselia, Empress of Rozarria. Jaakuna said, showing a different side to him that no one knew existed. He was not only bowing to a woman, but a woman who, up until just recently, would see him as an enemy.

It was safe to say that, by the varying looks of astonishment, they weren’t expecting this to happen, least of all from someone like Jaakuna. Grant couldn’t help but find himself give the smallest of smiles, completely in agreement. He had honestly thought Jaakuna would go in the wrong direction, but there he was, proving everyone wrong. The blonde almost looked like a prince again, though Grant knew better than that.

Lorenzo leaned back in his seat, clearly satisfied as he crossed his arms. “Would you look at that, on one knee and everything,” He told Reia, gesturing towards the boy.

Reia was deep in thought, this much was obvious. It wasn’t that she disagreed, but in a funny sort of way, it truly was a ridiculous request to ask. Nadeline seemed to agree as she too would stand. “I believe this would the the correct way for our country, Aunt,” Nadeline spoke. “Now more than ever, the two Empires would do well to stand united against the threat looming over Ivalice. We have much to gain, and even more to lose should we continue on the path of war.

Reia snapped her fan shut, as if signifying her need for silence. After a moment, she let out an uncharacteristically annoyed sigh, opening her fan to cool herself off. She looked straight at Lorenzo. “You realize you would have to stay here, don’t you?” She asked him, raising an eyebrow.

No way am I missing this!” He immediately protested, though he seemed to calm down as Karolina would put her hand on his arm, giving him a smile. “...Eh, I can hold down the fort until you’ve returned, so no worries there. What’s really stopping you?

The woman would return to her thoughts, eyeing Nadeline, who would hang her head. “Then I’m afraid I will leave the more difficult task to you, my brother. As you’ve no doubt heard, the Council has already made their decision to go to war, despite--or rather, because of the incident in the magicite mines,” She informed the group as a whole. “Though I suppose...a treaty would put a stop to all that nonsense.

Is that all?” Lorenzo grinned, slapping Jaakuna across his back. Would you look at this kid, going on and uniting Ivalice and all that?

Karolina couldn’t help but dab at a tear in her eye. “How you’ve all grown!” She exclaimed excitedly. “Please, do leave the Council to us.

Grant perked up for a moment, hardly believing the conversation at hand, though as he looked at Savayna, he wondered if the group would be alright without them. No, they would be fine. As nerve wracking as it was going into enemy territory, Grant knew Jaakuna would keep to his word and keep Reia safe. It would be a loss to miss such a historic event, but he had another just as important compromise to make, after all.

My only concern is security,” Reia said. “As darling as it is to be an emissary of peace, at the end of the day, I do need to stay alive a while longer, lest I get off’d by someone who wouldn’t stand to have this treaty happen.

Astonished that she actually accepted his more-than originally agreed upon request, let out a squee of excitement as he jumped half of a meter into the air. “And that's more like the Jaakuna we know,” Grant shook his head, actually letting out a sigh. “You were so close to acting of your lineage. So close.” Grant’s comment earned the usual Jaakuna scowl.

Emiri nodded, trying to steer the conversation back to civility. “That’s why you’ll have Nadeline, Grant, and myself on the Rozarrian side, Majesty,” She pointed out to the Empress, though she noticed the expressions on both Grant and Nadeline’s faces as she spoke. “...what?” She asked the pair.

Nadeline looked at Grant, who looked back at her, as if unsure who should go first, though the two were surprised at one another. Nadeline let out a sigh, looking at Wesley to make the announcement in her stead. Wesley would sigh as well.

Wesley would stand up, letting out one more, anxious sigh. In light of what’s happening, I feel like I need to come clean as well. Wesley said, letting just one last sigh escape.

And what about? Savayna asked.

Eyes went to Nadeline, then to everyone else. Last night, I made the decision that I will be returning to Dalmasca, and taking my rightful place as King of Dalmasca. he said.

There was, once again, silence in the room from most. Except Jaakuna. “There you go again, trying to steal my thunder.

My apologies. You just did a marvelous job of opening the floor, I had to seize the opportunity. Wesley gave Jaakuna a half-apologetic smile.

You did, truly,” Nadeline added, taking Wesley’s hand in hers. “Though as Reia said, this is the opportunity to go out and clear the air. You’ll be fine without us.”

Grant looked at Nadeline incredulously. “Wait, ‘us’?” Emiri asked.

Well, Wesley and I are to marry, so...I decided to go back with him,” The princess replied somewhat sheepishly, outright ignoring Lorenzo’s wail of sorrow. “It’s necessary that I go to recognize my future home. So since Wesley is going...I will follow.

Lorenzo buried himself in Karolina’s lap, openly weeping. “I can’t believe it, dear! That man really IS stealing my Nadeline away!” He whined, sniffling rather comically. “The nerve of him!

Karolina soothed Lorenzo, “There, there, darling, we both knew this day would come,” She told him gently between drying her own tears. “Our Nadeline is all grown up!

Nadeline let out a groan, shaking her head. “Father! Don’t start with your dramatics!” She couldn’t help but whine. “I told you this already this morning before breakfast!

If she told you already, then why are you reacting like this?” Reia asked him.

IT DOESN’T MAKE IT HURT ANY LESS!” Lorenzo wailed rather dramatically in response. “My one and only precious daughter ripped from my arms...it’s enough to break a man’s heart into several pieces! Truly this pain cannot compare to any stab, to any physical wound!

Grant rolled his eyes at his brother. “If you’re going to miss her so much, once everything is said and done, you could, oh I don’t know, visit?” He suggested sarcastically.

Lorenzo let out a gasp, looking at his wife. “That’s right, dear! Our Nadeline is not yet lost to us!

Karolina nodded, patting Lorenzo’s head. “Of course, darling, and we’ll have to help with the wedding!

And the grandkids!

Of course, we must be around to watch over them!

What about when we get lonely?

Oh, my darling, as long as I have you, I will never be lonely.

Reia gave the pair a scowl, attempting to bring the matter at hand to attention once more, though she couldn’t help but give Emiri a look. “Then that would leave you and Grant, correct?” She asked, ignoring Lorenzo’s dramatics.

Grant cleared his throat, raising a hand in the air. “Actually, I will not be able to attend, either.

What?! Why?” Emiri asked.

I won’t divulge the details just yet, though I have confidence that nothing but good news will follow,” He stated, showcasing all the elegance a prince should have. “I must go to Mt. Bur-Omisace. Once my business has concluded, I will be sure to reveal all.

And what you’re doing is so secret because…?” Nadeline asked, confused.

If you must know, Naddie, but we’re going there together! Savayna said, “and that’s all I will say about that because, as he said, it’s none of your business.” Savayna said sharply.

Now it was Nadeline’s turn to huff, clearly annoyed at being left out, though she would turn her attention to the now very nervous looking Emiri. The brunette looked at the Empress, who did not look confident at all. “Um...you still have me?” Emiri tried to smile confidently, though it all but shattered and she sank back into her seat.

Lorenzo jumped to his feet, wiping his eyes dry as he would recompose himself. “If that really is the case, then don’t worry, Sis,” He said, mimicking Jaakuna’s earlier practice as he would get down on one knee. “Karolina, I know I can count on you to see things through on my part here. I’ll make sure my sister gets to Archadia safe and sound, and once everything is said and done, I’ll come right back here.

Grant’s jaw dropped, though he immediately protested, “This isn’t the time for games, Lorenzo. Someone of the Royal Family needs to be here.

And my beautiful wife, while having no royal blood of her own, is legally a princess consort, having married a dashing prince and all,” Lorenzo reminded him as he would take Karolina’s hand and lightly place a kiss on it. “Were something to happen to all of us, she would be able to take the throne. And we all have our parts to play--myself included.

Nadeline was shocked to see her father so serious, moreso when he would stand. “Father…

Hey, it’s about time I started doing something important,” He said, placing both his hands on his sister’s shoulders. “I swore that I wouldn’t get myself involved in Rozarria’s political affairs. My father’s death only served to prove that point, so now I need to make up for it.

Karolina nodded in agreement. “Then, I too, will do my best.” She clasped her hands together as she would stand. “If you’ll excuse me, then, there is much work to be done!

Aloa and Vlyn would both rise as well. “Leave Karolina to us, we will guide her,” Aloa stated, placing a hand on her hip. “Lorenzo is right. We all have our duties to fulfill.

Emiri looked crestfallen at this point. “Then...this is really it?” She asked. “We’re just splitting up?

It’s not permanent. I’m sure we’ll be back together before we even realize it. Jaakuna said, cocking a reassuring grin.

Wesley also smiled, chuckling lightly. If we all do our part, I see us sharing a meal again. Wesley said, sounding hopeful for the future.

"If we don't die before the end of it all, Savayna said, laughing at the possibility, "I mean, yeah we'll definitely come back for another meal like this. hopefully without the looming fear of death." Again, she was laughing.

Grant nodded in agreement. “Be sure to take care of ourselves until then, I suppose.

Nadeline gave the group a small smile. “We’ll meet again, someday.

There was something bittersweet about the events transpiring. For one thing, on the political side a massive change was about to happen, something that would benefit all Ivalice. Even if it would only last a little while, a needed peace would fall on the land, and everyone could focus on the enemy: Zodiark. The fact that Reia would even agree to walk into enemy territory was an accomplishment in itself, though Emiri had to admit that the pressure was on to make sure Reia would arrive in one piece.

So why did she feel so abandoned?

It was always a thought in the back of her mind that she had been putting off, she supposed. Most of them were people of influence, so it stood to reason that once everything was said and done everyone would return to their homes and go on with their lives. Perhaps she had gotten attached. Perhaps she was just uneasy about her own future. Either way she felt terribly alone, and slightly bitter for it. She blamed her grief; it seemed to be easiest this way, and she was still shaken from her mother’s death. She’d just have to deal with it for now, as the time to get ready was upon them. But what was she going to do?

Meanwhile Nadeline had to deal with her father’s mood swings, which got less and less charming as he would alternate between an overprotective, adamant force and a weeping, whining mess. She should have been used to this by now, but for once she couldn’t keep up with the man. She half-wished he would go bother Wesley instead, though she couldn’t honestly wish it upon him. As Lorenzo blubbered behind her as they walked to her room, she couldn’t help but stop in her tracks, turning to her father and placing her hands on her hips.

Lorenzo sniffled pathetically, trying to contain his hiccups. He cleared his throat, mustering up some decency as he looked at his daughter. “Nadeline…you’ll always have a home here, don’t forget that,” He told her quietly, genuinely looking upset.

Thank you, Father, but please don’t be so sad, I don’t want Mother following suit,” She pleaded with him. “Although now that you’re to accompany Reia, I have a favor I wish to ask of you.

The blonde man huffed, crossing his arms. “I already know about Emiri, if that’s what you’re going to ask,” He told her. “As much as I have confidence in Aloa’s abilities, I think it’s best if she stayed here, just in case. Can’t have her go stabbing Jaakuna or anything.

“Don’t joke like that,” Nadeline reprimanded him with a frown.

I’m not joking,” Lorenzo told her. “I realize that you all have your own things to do, but somewhere along the line you’ll have to revisit this problem.

The princess let out a small sigh. “I know. But I have confidence in Aloa…and in Emiri. Now that she knows what she did, I’m hoping that she will have the strength to fight it. More importantly…” She looked at her father sternly. “I’m relying on you to take care of Reia and Jaakuna in my place. He’s impulsive, brash, and jumps at the first chance for a brawl.

He sounds like a problem?

No, he sounds like you.” She rolled her eyes. “I can’t help but feel you’re going to end up egging him on more than you realize. Do try not to drive Aunt Reia insane with your shenanigans, will you?

Him? Like me? He wishes!” Lorenzo grinned, though it faltered as Nadeline glared at him. “I’m a grown man, I can do whatever I want! Why am I the one getting scolded?

Because seeing as not only with Wesley and myself gone, Grant won’t be with them either, so someone needs to be the responsible one. And unfortunately, that falls on you, Father.” She pointed out. “I’m being serious.

Lorenzo patted Nadeline’s head, much to her annoyance. “I know. You leave them to me while you accompany your king, alright? I have a feeling now that you’re all separated is where the real hard part starts.

Back in his own room, Grant let out a low whistle, turning to Savayna. "We can leave at anytime that pleases you. Shall we?" He asked.

About an hour or so had passed since everyone went off into their own repsective corner of the palace. Savayna and Grant had just finished packing up what they had. Well, Savayna packed her shit, and Grant, from the look of, packed what he needed for the trip. She felt a knot in her stomach that had been present all throughout the entire conversation about Reia and the Council, Jaakuna’s treaty proposition, what will happen in the days to come, and how everyone was going on their meaningful journeys.

And there was Savayna, going to seek out her parents for her father’s approval of Grant. Or rather he was. She was just going so she could — well, she didn’t know why she was going. Grant didn’t need her to go, did he? She could simply stay on the Ifrit while he went off to seek out her father’s approval, right? Would that be such a bad thing.

No, it would be a bad thing. I can’t let him face my father without me. That’s the cowardly way out. You’re a Glacie, Savayna. You have faced the harsh winds of Omisace. You’ve defied Vincent. You’re a former general of the Archadian Army. Don’t let the sight of your father disapproving of your lover stop you now.

Savayna shook her head, snapping herself out of her out doubts of the situation. She then nodded twice, once to herself as if to reassure that it was going to be fine, and another to Grant. He had asked her if she was ready. To that, she would say, I suppose. Savayna shrugged, heaving a bag over her shoulder.

She would follow Grant’s lead. First she knew that they would inform the others that they were leaving. But aside that? Savayna had no idea. Let the adventure start.

Initially, the treaty was a good idea. Hell, Jaakuna wasn’t going to back down. However, since proposing the idea no more than an hour or two ago, there was a lot of preparation to be done on Reia’s behalf. At first he thought she was simply ignoring him, but he heard the whispers. Apparently there was a lot ot do before she could be cleared to leave. Even if Karolina was going to take hold of the Rozarrian Throne while Reia was gone, apparently there was much to do, which left an impatient Jaakuna waiting.

But there was one upside. He got to spend some extra moments with Emiri, who seemed less-than cheery since breakfast had ended. JAakuna thought the first request he made to Reia about her father would be something she’d be happy about. And maybe for a brief moment, he caught something of a joyful smile, one of gratittude. But now? She looked to be, for a lack fo better words, depressed.

No there was more to that. Something about the way she had been fidgeting her hands together, looking away from the passing persons, set Jaakuna into deja vu. He knew where it was heading and he didn’t like it. But at the same time, something popped into his head. Maybe something that would be good. Or maybe make matters even worse. Only time would tell.

Say, Emiri, Jaakuna said, placing his hand on her leg. He didn’t look towards her. He simply looked ahead, and said, when I return from Archadia and the treaty is signed, let’s get married. The tone of Jaakuna’s voice was as nonchalant as it had ever been.

After all this time, I’m returning home.

Wesley couldn’t say how long it’s been since he was last home. Maybe a week or so. But that was for a short visit. He hadn’t been home home since Isaiah Darcone had led an invasion on the behalf of his cousin, Vincent, to Dalmasca that cost Wesley and Cassandra their father, the late King Jonathan. That thought made Wesley feel bittersweet. A thought that brought him painful memories of his father. A thought that, despite what he wanted to do, he couldn’t bring himself to maim or kill Ixion. That wasn’t right. That wasn’t what a future king would have done. Or at least the sort of king he wanted to be.

As he packed his things, Wesley tried to go over it in his head. How would he explain the sudden desire to become the king? After all that time of adventuring with Jaakuna, Emiri, Savayna, and Grant. After nearly dying and everything - how could he properly explain? To make the matters all the more complicated, how was Wesley to explain Levi? And how she tied into everything?

Those questions ran through his mind. So much so that Wesley didn’t realize he had wasted about twenty minutes asking himself over twenty-one questions with not a single answer.

Wesley, you seem troubled?

He heard Hashmaal speak to him. You could say that, Wesley said, laughing. You could also say that I don’t even know how I’m going to begin to explain to my family that I want to claim my inheritance.

I understand, Hashmaal said, tell me, what made you want to claim the throne after all this time?

A good question. When was it that WEsley had decided? Maybe it was Zodiark being free, and wnating to have some change in the things to come. Maybe it was after the battle with Ultima and what followed. Maybe it was when Wesley showed mercy on Isaiah. It could be a number of things, all of which didn’t feel like the right answer, not along, at least. Maybe they were all a contributing factor.

Well, he said,I suppose it was everything. But most importantly, it’s just the right time. I need to do my part. And if that means becoming King of Dalmasca, then it will be done. Wesley said. It was as if he wasn’t just answering Hashmaal’s question but his own questions as well.

I see, Hashmaal said. Well, if this is your wish, then I will support you, Wesley. I am bound to you, after all.

“Appreciate it, Hashmaal.” Wesley said

In the minutes that followed, Wesley would pack what he could, make sure he had everything with him, and let his mind center around the fact that he was actually doing this. There was no turning back. There was no saying “on second though.” No, there was nothing of the sort. Wesley couldn’t back out now. What’s more, he wouldn’t. There was too much at stake for him to do so.

Once Wesley was ready, he departed for where Nadeline was. He searched for her. He heard familiar quips from just down the hall. It was Lorenzo and Nadeline arguing. Based on what he heard, it was about practically everything that was just discussed. Nadeilne wanted Lorenzo to take matters serious, citing that he was similar to Jaakuna. Wesley couldn’t help but chuckle at that. He found it mildly amusing. It was completely true, of course, but WEsley couldn’t help himself when Nadeline made that comment.

I’m not king yet, Wesley said, waving to Lorenzo. He would give Nadeline a kiss on the cheek. “But, you know, your father is right.” Wesley could just feel the impending scowl from Nadeline because of that comment. We are all going on our separate journeys. Jaakuna, your father, and Reia are going to potentially sign the most iconic treaty we have seen in years. We are going to my home country so that I may become, as Lorenzo has said, become king. As for Grant and Savayna, while none of us know where they are heading, I am sure it’s of equal importance for them. Wesley said, stepping forward to face Lorenzo. The two men were somewhat of equal height. "Lorenzo, you can't rest assured. Nadeline will be safe with me. Besides, as you would never want anything happen to Karolina, I will give my life to protect Nadeline." Wesley's eyes went to Nadeline for a moment, then back to Lorenzo's, "I'll tell you what. When it's all said and done," Wesley leaned to Lorenzo's ear as he whispered, "I'll get you in touch with a friend down in Balfonheim Port who knows about that new energy-based fuel that's said to increase maximum speed by almost thirty percent." He tried not to let Nadeline hear. No doubt a second scowl was in the works.
