If I ever imply France in an RP where, for example, the context for calling something "French Toast" doesn't exist, you can know that's not me.

Bio

I'm a generally chill gomboblin that can be kinda particular. I grew up with plenty of electronics and video games, mostly with games like Final Fantasy, Zelda, and StarCraft. Lots of Nintendo. Dark Cloud is pretty sick. That's a lot of variety, and I do like to play a lot of different games. I like to blend magic and technology in my writing, bringing fantasy into space and sci-fi.

Magic in space is something that I find isn't done very much. Airships and spaceships could make for some cool centerpieces. Skies of Arcadia did a fantastic job of this. Perhaps that's not in space, exactly, but it's pretty close. Some of those ships may as well be space ships.

There was quite the crowd gathering around Lady Charlotte. It was like she had led some sort of charge to keep the darling company. Drake and Ariella had appeared, and more were gathering. Someone whistled for someone to come from the bar? Lady Charlotte was certainly popular.

Stratya was taking a sip of her mead when Lady Charlotte asked about the date. Her eyes and eyebrows betrayed her as she took a deeper swig. She let out a soft groan as she thought about her date with the old man, the pint returning to the table with a soft thud. “Oh, Donal’? Eer..” She grimaced and leaned back, shaking her head as though to rid herself of a bad taste, “gah, tha’s a crreepy ol’ man, arrigh’. Y’know wha’ ‘e tol’ me?”

At that moment, another songstress who had been having herself a grand old time with the rest of the patrons joined their table, plopping herself with drunken recklessness into their booth. Stratya, ever dutiful, ready as she was to let someone in, had positioned herself at the edge, and now found the absolutely stunning songstress in her lap.

“Oh! Is i’ m’ birthday? Or maybe t’ gods send an apology.” Her hand came easily to rest across Kalliope’s lap as the Captain took another sip. “Mm,” she stopped herself mid-sip and set her pint of mead down again, shaking her head and grinning at the Lady across from her with a sheepish denial, “tha’s nae wha’ ‘e tol’ me. Ahh..” Stratya glanced at Kalliope, and offered a brief summary, charri’y auction earrlie’ tahdae, da’es were up f’r bid, old man named Donal’– bleedin’’ Donal’, of all things – wins my bid. So I take ‘im someplace quie’ an’ nice an’ –

Stratya took another swig then, trying to wash a taste away that wasn’t in her mouth,t’ ol’ scunner tells me ‘I follow you’ like tha’s nae crreepy, ‘n come ta fynd ou’, e’s been followin’ me since ‘e saw me find Darryn Fletcher’s remains, like tha’ did somethin’ for ‘im. She gave a shudder and took another sip, “I left ‘im in Pinebrrook, so tha’s ‘ow tha’ went. Yourrs any bet’er?”

In previous years, she’d been otherwise occupied and out of the capital at this time. Duties had called her to travel, but this year was different. The Knight-Captain, since returning from her auctioned date, had spent some time patrolling (read: pub crawling), starting near the castle and working her way gradually out. It was in this way that she found herself at the Tough Tavern.

In all honesty, though, that had been the plan all along. If she was connecting the dots her men reported correctly, this was a good place to watch. There wasn’t any guarantee that anything would happen today, but that would be fine, too. She could just enjoy Drunkard’s Day, then. That would be nice..

She suspected the odds of a relatively peaceful Drunkard’s Day slimmed when she spied Charlotte Vikena entering the bar. Not because she was particularly sinister, no, but trouble did seem to follow the lass. Poor thing. Stratya leaned back, nursing some of the mead she’d started supplying Ol’ Toughy with. Thinking, thinking. Charlotte seemed lonesome, sat in a booth in the corner, all by herself. No way to spend Drunkard’s Day.

Stratya sourced herself another pint before hers was completely done and excused herself from the table of singers she’d gathered, taking both pints away with her.

With a saunter, she approached Lady Charlotte’s seat, all smiles and drunken bliss, ooh, therre’s a familiarr faaace~, hello~ daarrlin’! She set the pints down, the full one in front of Charlotte, the other.. had she meant to put it across? It was rather centered. Maybe she wasn’t paying that much attention to the details. Her expression changed, ahck, nao tha’ I’m movin’ rround, I, eh.. rreturrn shor’ly. She seemed disappointed, maybe mildly frustrated, but she had to excuse herself as quickly as she appeared.

When she returned, more familiar faces had appeared!Aaaye, more’s t’ merrierr, ain’ i’! I’ll ge’ ye bot’ a pin’, ain’ tha’ reyt keen, ey. She turned to the bar and called “ooye” while she held up two fingers. Then, with a certain drunken grace (it was like she’d done this before or something), she slid herself into the booth where she’d supposedly set her pint, across from Charlotte, then dragging it across the table to herself and having a sip.Wha’ fyne comp’n’y tae have a Drrunkarrd’s Dae wit’, nae bet’er.

The Knight Captain didn’t get too settled just yet. She was ready to stand and let someone into the booth, to take the more ready position of the aisle seat herself.

It worked, or maybe it was always planning on going upstairs? Either way, the Magnemite went the way she wanted - up. Either way could lead outside, really, but this was less conspicuous.

The trainer and her dino raced through the door and up the stairs after the metal ball pokemon. Regan took a moment to look up at all the stairs ahead of them and, with an internal groan, she returned Kaebe and continued the pursuit herself. No need for them both to expend stamina.

The aspiring ranger caught the door to the roof and burst through after Magnemite. Regan was certainly in shape, but stairs were still stairs. She panted and rested against the doorway with her arm, giving herself just a moment to breathe, “hweh.. haah.. Magne.. nemite, your meals.. heehh.. are disrupting the people that.. live here, buddy. The building.. hwuh.. can’t support your appetite.” She stepped out from the doorway, but not far, picking an empty ball from her belt, “aren’t you supposed to live in a.. cave or a.. power plant or something? You’d probably like a power plant, yeah? There ought to be one, for a city this size. I’ll take you there, if you’ll let me. To whatever power plant I can find.”

@Remram

Aaah, sand attacks! She couldn’t let it run downstairs. Wasn’t there roof access? She had to stop it somehow. She didn’t think a ball would catch it right now, but maybe she could stall, that way? Ah, she’d bluff! “Kadabra, get ready on the ground floor! It’s going for the stairs. Kaebe, keep after it!”

If she could chase it up to the roof access, she could trap it there and catch it.. or it could get away into the city. Didn't Magnemite live in, like, power plants or something? This couldn't be it's natural habitat. Regan glanced briefly at the hallway as she ran through it. No, it didn't seem like a metal magnet ball would live here. Power plant felt right.

Poor thing must be scared. Only holed up here because it was shelter, not because it was home. And there's food here. Perfect hiding hole, except for the power outages. If she could trick it into a corner, maybe she could talk to it? She should take it to a power plant. There aught to be one nearby, right? With a city this big.

“What does one do if no one bids on them?”

Stratya tensed with a barely-audible “geh!” and turned to give Charlotte an anxious glance, replying in a soft voice, herselfdoan say tha’, I’m up firrs’.

Though, she had nothing to worry about. The first bid for her went up and she relaxed a little. An older gentleman. She didn’t mind spending the day with an elder. He certainly wasn’t an Elder. Aah, but their wisdom makes them so long winded, isn’t it?

Another bid went up and she had to give the man an intrigued look. Did he want to spar or was he making a crass joke?

Another bid, and Stratya was relieved. Looks like she was a good opener for the event, after all. By chance, she glanced at Alexander, the man running the show. Was he satisfied with the bids? Disinterested? This was for charity, after all, none of the money would be going to the Black Rose or his own pocket. His affiliation was all the more reason to watch him.

That old man came back with a bid for 50, and the Captain turned her head back to the audience, surprised. He wanted the date that much? And– what else had he said?

“Someone’s more popular than anticipated.”

There had been something about Alexander that she couldn’t quite pin down, but whatever it had been.. perhaps she’d imagined it. It was gone, now.‘s a bi’ flat’erin’, I mus’ say. She was getting used to having gold, herself. To think someone would spend– seventy gold on a picnic date with her. Sure, proceeds went to charity, but still!

A hundred gold!?

That older man was determined. Yet, what was that he’d said earlier? “She’s mine”? Hmnn. Well, she’d do it for charity. She could handle herself, if he tried anything. Besides, perhaps he’d just gotten fired up during the bidding process. There had been a few enthused participants.

Captain Stratya Durmand brought herself to Lady Mina, to await her date with the older gentleman who’d won the bid.Tha’s qui’e well, f’r t’ firrst o’ t’ day, eh? She wasn’t being conceited, no, simply celebrating the successful start to the auction.‘undrre’ gol’s a lo’ o’ food, an tha’s jus’ t’ starr’. They would have much and more gathered by the time the auction was over, at this rate. However, now that they’d put some money together, the Captain found herself wondering about the little details. Hmm.. there wasn’t any way she’d be able to talk to the Prince about it today. Or likely tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow evening.

Somehow or other, she’d been convinced to wear a dress onto the stage. At least it wasn’t one of those frilly, overdone things that she’d have to be careful wearing, lest she damage the garment somehow. What she wore wouldn’t seem out of place in an upscale tavern. A bright red, two-layered skirt with a slit up the front left let a high leather boot peek out from underneath. Though the hem of each layer was beautifully decorated, the longer, inner skirt was more elaborately so. The artwork on the fabric disappeared beneath the hem of the shorter, outer skirt, where the pleats and folds had only a modest decor to display. The leather piece around her waist provided her with a place to fasten her daggers, and a thick leather strap on her hip held a satchel and canteen. A simple white, shoulderless blouse with very puffy sleeves sat beneath the mantle she had worn to the banquette. It would seem the head that had accompanied the mantle could be removed? Handy.

Stratya Durmand knew a thing or two about having a good picnic. As a lass, it was not infrequent that she’d go out onto the scenic plains and find a good hill to have a meal atop. She’d stare out and watch the wind sweep over the grasses and flowers, feel it through her hair, smell the sweet scents carried from across Vermillion’s sweeping fields.

She knew what made a good picnic basket, too, naturally. The Knight Captain had, of course, prepared her basket with plenty of homemade goods.

She heard her name, announced loudly for the audience, and brought herself forward, into the center of attention. “Thank you, Mr. Deacon, Lady Blackwood."

Callum made his presence known before she could continue. To her concern, he climbed on top his carriage, but managed not to take a spill from there. That was a relief. He was supplying the gathering with liquor, which was the kind of charitable act she'd come to expect from the prince. Such was well, alcohol was known for loosening purse strings

"Aye, happy Drrunkard's Day! ‘ow’s t’ lo’ o’ ya? Better nao wit' a bit o' frree drrink, aye?" She had herself a chuckle, smiling warmly before she offered her name, "Knight Cap’n Strra’ya Durrmand. I ken a good picnic, so I’ve gone an’ whipped up a nice basket full o’ ‘omemade goodies. And m’ brrother’s mead. T’ otherr ‘alf tae good picnicin’ is t’ rreyt spo’, an’ I’ve go’ a few ideas in mynd.

Ooh, bu’ one thing at a tyme. In me basket, we’ve go’ plen’y of ‘omemade goodies, from brreads an' crrackers tae jams an' cookies. I’ve smoked some mea’s and bough’ some fyne cheeses. Perrfect f’rr a nice si’ down on a hilltop, or by a li’l brrook in t’ woods.
Oof, that sounds awful. Waking up once at an odd hour is bad enough, it sounds like you're just not really sleeping. Rough time getting back into a work schedule, is it? I usually wake up at odd hours when I'm trying to move my sleep schedule, myself.

Regan caught the edge of the toppling shelf unit and was pushed back to the wall as it continued the rest of its fall. “Ow.. heavy..” she shook out her hands as her Tyrunt emerged from the mess.

“Hey, good job, Kaebe.” The aspiring Ranger reached for a ball, but saw the pokemon rouse before she could retrieve one.

“Ah-” before she could get anything else out, the Magnemite let loose on them and made a break for the door. Regan tried to chase it, calling to her pokemon to follow, but they were both just a little tingly. Regan tripped, but caught herself on the nearby wall. Though his mouth was rather numb, Kaebe still found himself able to move without stumbling. He chased after the floating metal ball, out into the hall.

Regan, for her part, looked back at the toppled shelving unit and grimaced. She’d have to come back later to put it upright again. In the meantime, she took just a brief, brief moment. With her hands and legs grounding her, she started to feel more stable. She focused on gathering her strength again before rising to her feet and bolting out the door, taking the same turn she’d seen Kaebe take. She’d have to catch up.
