Okay so, everyone who presented interest was dropped it, so to save the greatest RP of all time, I have to recruit more people. So, here's the OOC. If you like it, make a sheet, and join. There's only like one accepted person, and we haven't even started yet.

Welcome to Vivid Recollections, a story influenced by series such as Life is Strange, Stranger Things, It, The Letter, and Dead by Daylight. Though, it takes elements from Life is Strange above all else.

Vivid Recollections will be a small town-type story set in Farmer Hill, Montana, a town built by the mountainside. To the average person, there's nothing notable about it other than its picturesque appearance. It's just a small farmer community that exports crops, people go to work, kids go to school, and so on. But, the town holds several dark secrets that nobody would expect. Farmer Hill, mysteriously enough, has a high number of people that just suddenly go missing, or get found dead. The people of Farmer Hill, strangely enough, ignore it, never speak of it and just go about their dead. But, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Farmer Hill is connected to another world entirely beyond the understanding of this one. A world where what can be roughly described as "magic" exists. An abstract force flows through the small town, and causes various strange effects. Strange weather patterns, and unexplainable disappearances and deaths are just the beginning. Spirits, hexes, and what can be described as outright magic exist.

The story will follow a group of students that attend Grand Ridge Academy that are just living their lives when a strange event occurs at the bottom of a mountain. They're just the people who just so happen to be out on a hot summer night. At first, nothing happens. But, as month past, they have mysterious dreams following the life of a man they barely knew known as John Reid. They knew him as a farmer, and kind man, that died during the event. Pushing into late October, they start to realize something strange is going on.

They start to see ethereal animals, they gain the ability to sense auras, "evil spirits" begin to attack them, and strange men have arrived in town. Most importantly, they've developed strange powers known as Abstractions that reflect a part of them in the midst of this insanity. Then they'll realize that they're The Awakened, and have to come together solve the mystery of Farmer Hill.

This story will be a magic realism type story that casts a certain view on the idea of "magic." I want to make it ambiguous whether or not the supernatural events in the story are in rooted in magic, scifi, or something beyond even that. I want to weave a story with similar aesthetic to Life is Strange, while building up something else entirely. The theme of Vivid Recollections will be Memory, Emotion, Connection, and Repression. A big part of the story will be the characters having a repressed memory, or emotion, that sabotages them in some way. How they'll get over that repression, and help them connect with other people. I also want the story to be dark, and very symbolic in nature. I won't be providing clear answers for everything.

@Darquesse Chris is accepted, here is his Abstraction.

ABSTRACTION

"Quote about abstraction here."

SIGIL & LOCATION ⫻ On his outer thigh, the symbol of a wreath of crows.

ABSTRACTION ⫻ Illusion Casting, the user has the ability to cause people to see, hear, touch, and smell, things that are nonexistent.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ Christopher's Abstraction Manifests in a mental ability, one that allows him to create mental images of anything that he can visualize. This ability is a subconscious manipulation of the mind, so all he has to do is picture where he wants to create the illusion, and everyone will see it. This is one of the abilities that bypass the Awakened inherent resistance to each other's powers, and requires a bit more effort to defeat. Whatever he creates an illusion of mimics the properties of the object. So, if he were to create a brick wall, it'd have the texture of a brick wall, and be just as durable (Fooling the mind into thinking it was real). Rain would feel like rain, and then drip down objects. Until he either dispels the illusion, or it is destroyed. He can create several illusions at a time, but the more illusions (or bigger the illusion), the more energy he has to expend. If Christopher pleases, he can create illusory sounds, or make an object invisible.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN ⫻ The mountain allows Christopher to create more/bigger illusions without expending more energy, and gives him more range. It also grants Christopher the ability to create illusory duplicates of himself. These duplicates are exact copies of Christopher down to the clothing, but he can control them freely. He can see through these duplicates, and even communicate through them. They fade away after taking one solid hit, so they'd be good as scouts. He can create up to five illusory clones at a time.

AURA SENSING ⫻ Christopher's aura reading is connected to deception, any kind of deception. In short, if he tricks someone, he can sense their aura for a period of time. It's dependant on the size of the lie - the bigger the trick, the further away he can sense someone, and the longer he can. If it's a quick little white lie (Like trying to avoid being socially blunt), it'd be able to sense someone from three meters away, and for about a minute at most. If it's a huge deception, such as tricking someone out of money, or into believing something false, he could sense them from around fifty meters away, and for about thirty minutes. That is the ceiling.

LIMITS ⫻ The biggest limit is range, Christopher can only create illusions within ten feet of himself (When he's in the presence of the mountain, that range shoots up to fifteen). When he leaves this radius, the illusion will fade away, and he cannot create it outside the radius. Christopher also relies on concentration, he needs a moderate amount of concentration to maintain an illusion. If that concentration is broken, the illusion will disappear. The ability is heavily linked to Christopher's mind, and what he can visualize. It doesn't mean everything he makes is perfect, and it is possible for him to make mistakes. Which leads to a weakness...

WEAKNESSES ⫻ The Illusion Creation ability is dependant on how much people believe in it. The Awakened can be completely immune to it if they know that it's fake. Such as there being a glaringly obvious mistake or anything of the sort. Once the illusion has been discovered, anyone can see through it with ease. Which means subtly and logical thinking is key. In addition, his illusions can be destroyed, as they possess the durability that Christoper perceives them to have. Such as that table I mentioned earlier; it can be destroyed just like any regular old table, and it'd be gone. Same goes with anything else really.

I like the concept. Expect a cs any time soon.

nice try, cockfag.

But we all know you've already dropped interest, and is only trying to make it look like you just came across this thread.

<Snipped quote by Surtr>

Kinda figured

Just a question; are they similar to auras, in which the Awakened can only see them under certain circumstances, or are they visible at all times to the Awakened?

They're visible at all times.
