Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

@Andreyich Quite strong, actually...for the moment.

Right, bit of a time-jump there, but just to clarify it has been around five days in the wild; if you wish to write about the journey there, perhaps a little tete e tete between two folks? Bit of co-writing?

Then I need for volunteers, first four being those volunteers.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Once the party had gathered outside the tavern, some later than others it must be said, Severo gave everyone a quick once-over sweep of his professional eye and a curt but definite nod of his head. Later, but not by much, the dawn sunlight rose above the treetops and a small column of ponies - four to be precise - were presented to the troop, laden with food, drink and all that they would need for the journey but could not carry on their persons; it was unlikely that they would need so many or so much, but the Guild was a fine provider for those employed and would not have it said otherwise.

"Our journey will take us several days, possibly three or four depending on the weather, be on your guard as we go and sthtay in formathion. The Reikwald is not the Drakenwald or the foreths of the north, but they are home to many dangers nonetheleth."

The journey did indeed take a number of days, longer than the Estalian had expected in fact, due mostly to torrential downpours and rugged terrain. It was most fortunate that his group, for the most part, were seasoned soldiers - or warriors at least - a number of them of the rough mountain-folk and hardened to such prevations.

Each day was otherwise regular as clockwork; the group would pick themselves up, or exit their shelters/tents, have breakfast, then they would march at various paces throughout the day interspersed with conversation and good-humoured (mostly) ribalding. Eventually the march would cease, the group would settle once more, and that was the time for tall-tales and boasting, the sharing of a few drinks and memories...or old grudges, in the case of the Dwarfs.

Even as the weather began to grow colder - a chill wind blowing in from the far northern reaches of the world - the party made their way to within half-a-mile of their goal, Severo pulling his cloak tighter about him and creasing his face into an expression of some concern.

"There should have been guards here...hired muscle..." he muttered more to himself, tasting the air in the same way as a snake might and grimacing at the faint tang of charred wood, "this is not good."

It was then that he noticed the faint coils of smoke rising from the clearing ahead, the place where the local 'witch' made her home in a simple hovel, usually protected by troops hired by the local village headman.

Not so today.

"I need four volunteers to come with me, the rest of you must bide and protect the supplies, but be quick about it."
I'm leaving it pretty freeform really; they're (maybe three dozen or so) hired guns of Xenos and Human origin, no uniforms just whatever equipment and clothing is specific to them/they're race and culture.

There will be a reveal...but that comes after we massacre them.

Victorine watched in silence as the introductions, if they could be called such, took place at the front of the group; she had not been expecting any others - in the form of a Sister who would not have looked out of place among the Astartes, and an Ecclesiastic Crusader that even the Confessor seemed loath to engage with - to join them before they embarked for the Cobra-class ship orbiting the planet, but here they were.

"The honoured Inquisitor will not be joining us," she said tersely, raising her voice to make herself heard, and doing her best to add some authority to it, "he has been called away to deal with threats beyond the likes of us, and I have been given full permission to lead this investigation by the Cannoness herself."

Now Victorine was not the most imposing of Sororitas - standing just above average height for a human woman and, like many of her comrades, at the peak of fitness - but she had been born and partially raised upon a 'Feral World' before the death of her parents and subsequent insertion into the Progenium, well she knew the hierarchal nature of the clan, the tribe...the squad.

"You may refer to me as Celestian or Sister," she proclaimed to the two new arrivals, eyeing them both evenly (even if she was forced to lift her neck to gaze at the giantess who hefted her heavy bolter like a toy), "welcome to Squad Victorine, please feel free to fall in."

Without another word or backward glance, one hand on the hilt of the blade at her hip at all times, she made her way to the embarkation point of the platform and waited.

She did not have to wait for long, and if she had had to then she may have even looked a little stupid. As it was the gun-cutter, bearing the fleur of the Sororitas and in the colours of the Thrice-Pierced Martyr, descended to take them onward and upwards within minutes.

Even as she stepped aboard, taking her seat at the head of the group near the pilots cabin, securing the restraints about her broad shoulders, she could not help but feel both a little more in control but also a little less.

Have faith in Him on Earth, blessed is He and those that follow Him with honesty and righteousness in their hearts.

The journey through the Immaterium had been estimated as a month by the vessels Captain and Navigator, although this transpired to be incorrect, the Destroyer - one of the fastest classes of ship in the Naval forces of the Imperium - likely to have made it through much quicker, a matter of days even, if it had not been for what happened next.

A crackle over the vox was the first that the Celestian knew about any disturbance, the stoic voice of Captain Shelek addressing her calmly from a speaker embedded in the wall of her cell - for it was little more than a chamber not unlike those within the monastery, complete with a candle-spattered shrine, a simple cot to sleep in, and a rack for weapons and armour.

"Apologies for the disturbance, Sister-Celestian, but it would appear that we have indeed been boarded."

Victorine had been knelt in all her natural state before the shrine and aquila topping it, ebony skin glistening with a sheen of sweat bought on by focused meditation alone, when the two-way message came through and dragged her urgently from her thoughts.

"Has the Gellar Field been breached?" She questioned in the same flat tone used by Shelek, not even opening her eyes at this point but already feeling the survival instincts of combat readiness kicking in; her breath became quicker, her muscles tighter with anticipation, and her six senses sharper.

"No, my lady, but the raiders are making a bee line for the Genetorium - should they reach it the-"

"Yes, Captain, I am aware of what may happen thank you."

Now she was on her feet, padding quickly over to where her under-robes were laid out neatly on her cot and dressing with ingrained speed and familiarity, making short work of covering herself - now she turned to her armour and began to repeat the process.

"Do we have an identity as to our boarders?"

"Not entirely Sister, but we do know that they aa mixed group, having seen at least one xenos Kroot among them; from their varied dress and armament I hypothesis mercenaries or pirates...or both."

"Emperor's teeth."

Latching the last of her armour into place and tightening it well, she now wrapped her swordbelt about her waist and holstered her sidearm.

In several quick motions she was outside her chamber and into the corridor without, her squad having been placed in the same section near the middle of the ship and therefore within bellowing distance - this was good.

"Squad Victorine, assemble! There is trouble afoot, and judgement to deliver, by His will!"

Her helmet only amplified the shout, and although she expected that they had already been given the same report by lesser members of the crew, there was no harm in amplifying their taste for a fight or their fervour for service to the God-Emperor.

I admit, the idea of a giant, 8ft fearless astartes killing machine secretly fearing the furious wroth of a sister of battle is highly amusing :3

It was sarcasm, he's just sitting there because she's top of the chain of command; I mean, he could crush her skull in one fist. It is what you make it, I suppose.
I just don't want to disobey the Sister...she might give me a telling off again. :D
"Stay where you are, that goes for all of you, I do not want any of use leaving our vehicles until we know what's out there."

The Apothecary was by design a medic, one used to dealing with his fallen or wounded battle-brothers, but even further down...deeper...right down in his very bone marrow, he was a living and breathing weapon. He held himself from leaping out of the APCs hatch, instead placing one hand against the cold metal of the Rhinos hull - like a nomad calming his mount - and mouthed a few Chogorian words within his helmet. They could not hole up here forever though, the Chimera already being assailed from multiple sides by the crude daemon-machine fusions of the Dark Mechanicum, the Hereteks as they were commonly known, and only the ferocious weapon of the Rhino keeping them from being blindsided.

"So long as the Rhino keeps clear of disabling fire, the remote Storm Bolter I am interfacing with will keep any infantry assaults to the Chimera's blind spot clear."

Nergüi was not known even among his own as a patient warrior, not when his blood was hot and his hackles were up, and although his beaked helmet was as impassive as a statue the deep and robotised tone that came from within it quite clearly showed his displeasure.

“What would you have us do, Celestian?” He half-grunted at Aviza, allowing the Machine Spirit of the vehicle to calm him as he hoped he was calming it, his hand never leaving the hulls interior, “we are now caught in this trap, numbers are against us, and our options are limited; I for one am happy to give my life for Him on Terra, but I would rather do it face-to-face alongside my comrades.”
Put me down for a Banshee or Dire Avenger.
