Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

The Story So Far!

It is the Forty-Second Millennium and the glorious son of the God-Emperor has returned to bring order to a fractured Milky Way - in this time above all others the Astra Militarum (known by many common soldiers as the Imperial Guard) is entirely necessary, recruitment from specialist worlds, such as Mordia, Krieg and Tallarn, only increasing as time goes on and the Emperor's currency is shed in earnest from one side of the galaxy to the other.

In this case it is the world of Vosmarth, a planet of Hive World designation, and inhabited by the descendants of colonists from a thousand worlds – most recently (at least in the last couple of centuries) by refugee Cadians, leading both to a significant population of purple-eyed hivers and a section known as 'Cadia Town' on the lower levels – that has been slapped dead in the middle of the Munitorum's sights for a fresh tithing and a harvest of fleshy tribute.

So it is that the First (1st) Vosmarth Regulars, a double-sized regiment containing those from all walks of life – from the lowliest underhivers to nobles from the upper spires – it driven through the process of forming something like a battle worthy formation; eight months basic training, the issuing of Cadian-pattern arms and armour, the forming of a command structure and the installation of members of the commissariat to keep order and discipline.

Some members of the regiment may well have had experience in the planets PDF, fighting desert-dwelling raiders and bandits, maybe even the odd Ork infestation, but as far as the wider Imperium (and their unmarked regimental banners) are concerned they are as green as any regiment in the Militarum.

Along with several other regiments, under the command of Colonel Photios Mahlah and his officer cadre, the First are a weeks warp-travel away from their first assigned deployment...a week away from what for many of them may well be their last.

Congratulations, you're in the Guard!

The Vosmarth First Regulars to be precise, or to be even more precise the 4th squad of the 3rd platoon of the 2nd company, under the leadership of freshly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Valpuri Tasi – a no nonsense woman that will brook no infractions in her formation.

For eight weeks, after being willingly or not dragged away from your home in Vosmarth Prime Hive, you have survived basic training under the observation of the commissariat and Drill Sergeants. Now, along with those of your 'countrymen' enlisted alongside you, you wait in anticipation to be flung into the meat-grinder of war and blood yourself properly.

Okie dokie, firstly welcome, now I'm going to try and make this as short as I can.

I have no rules (minus the obvious ones commonly used throughout most role-plays) apart from notifying me/a co-GM of either an extended absence or if you intend to leave. This is simply so I can carry on and know who is where and so on and so forth.

Right...

The only other thing is probably initiative, meaning the initiative of players; while not an entirely sandbox experience, I do like players to think for themselves. I shall be guiding things along but 'in the field' so-to-speak I do find it acceptable for players to forge ahead, as long as it doesn't damage the overall plot.

For example, you're in a village and get ambushed – now I'm happy for their to be as many enemies as you wish to kill, for the players to pretty much defeat the enemy as they see fit, and to ultimately carry the day, so long as they don't carry it beyond that.

If in doubt about what you can and can't get away with, just ask me. It makes things much easier.

On the issue of Character Sheets, I don't want any, however what I will ask is for each player to just post up the basics of their character in the following format;

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Former Profession:
Rank:
Specialisation:

That's all.

Almost everyone will also be starting as a simple soldier, though some may have a little more experience than others. The highest rank is likely to be Sergeant, so if you'd like a higher rank (not that it will make much difference IC), please give me a message.

I believe that's it (for now), so if you do have any questions or queries then feel more than free to ask.

Well, I'll take you all (God-Emperor help me!), just promise me that, if you do decide to leave for whatever reason(s), you will inform me so that I can kill off your character and rotate the numbers. If you're going to be absent for some time then that's fine, as long as I know you'll be returning to the fold, otherwise, again, I'll need to kill off your character.

If anyone would like to step forward and help Co-GM, then I'd be happy to accept assistance as well.

I'll get the OP of the in-character thread done and then we'll go from there.
@Father Hank Was just about to close it to people, but if you're certain, then there's always room for you.
@Searat@ReedeThe23rd@Mortarion

"It would seem, my lord, that whatever informant you received the information about this place from was greatly exaggerating."

Drake was about to readily agree with his chief chirurgeon, his brows a tad furrowed as he surveyed both the ragged state of the gathering crowd and the equally lamentable view that was Nab's Holdout – this was until the servant of the Omnissiah pushed through the crowd and presented himself without hesitation.

"Peace my lord, none here wishes you harm." Stated the odd creature, forming the sign of the Aquila and thus immediately gaining some manner of trust from the Rogue Trader, "let me be the first to welcome you to Nab's Holdout."

A thin smile creased the nobles aristocratic features as he gave a curt nod to the half-man – the expression centred about his lips and not even reaching his eyes – letting go of his axe, which dangled from the leather thong about his wrist, long enough to connect his hands together in the sign of the cog.

“My gratitude,” he was unsure with what rank to address the Mechanicus servant, and so forged ahead without worrying about such quibbles, “what brings you to me, my Martian friend?” As an afterthought he gestured to the slender man nearby, “this is my chief medical officer, Lazarus, by-the-by.”

He had not been making idle conversation, only half his mind on talking, the other making note of those gathering around them in a semi-circle. Unsavoury, rough-and-ready, exactly the sort that would slit their throats and take all they had if given half the chance...he did hope that Karl was making a note of the very same.

@BangoSkank@Andreyich

I will find you.

Nithin shuffled through the street of the Holdout almost at will, those that may have sought to claim his life wisely thinking better of it once they saw him. Those that were either too stupid or arguably too brave to use such common sense were turned aside, as if by their own mind, and went to do something else.

Some may wonder how one located a Pariah, especially if one were a psyker and therefore adverse to them, but it was a pretty simple procedure – you simply followed the trail of ruffled minds, most blanks causing irrational fear or irritation to those near enough to them to be affected, and slowly-but-surely the cloaked cenobite would close in.

Yes, there...something was bubbling below the surface...

He had to get closer.
@FrostedCaramel I'm going to take a look at everyone, then get an IC thread up tomorrow or Thursday. So there's still room, in short.
@Lady Selune Yea, I'll allow them! They make up less of the population, but I've never heard that they're banned from being warriors.
Alright drengabrazi! no more umgak RPing, I've arrived!

Oh dear... hides incredibly mediocre writing

So, it appears we have me, POO, Andrey, possibly Skwint, and the lovely Kvinn Selune herself.

Any chance I can entice you, @Dusty?

How about anyone else? We have beards (mostly) AND the best alcohol ever made, far better than that Umgi piss.
Okay, got about 7 folks, so seems good! I'll get an IC thread up soon. Anyone else who wants to join, feel free to make yourselves known.
@Katthaj No problemo, I look forward to it.

@tech Knew I missed someone! Yup, another body would be appreciated; lives are the Emperors currency after all.
@Katthaj As they said in ~ Halo: Omen ~ (yes, I do 'background checks' of sorts), I'll trust that your IC skills are up-to-snuff. If that's true, then we'll be all good.

That being said, and I'm not trying to be an arse, but would you be able to send me a 'writing sample' via Private Messaging - just something in-character, can be any setting or genre etc - for me to take a look at?

This is the Advanced section after all and, although I'm not elitist (I'd like to think), there's a reason I put this RP here.
