Kyra looked at several in the group, they were a bit born out and such after everything. She couldn't exactly blame them. A fight right as one woke up and without a meal was bound to take its toll on some who were not as used to it. Satilla and Sona seemed to be the two with the most weakness after the fight. Kneeling down she wrapped Satilla's arm over her shoulder and helped the woman back to her feet before aiding her in scrambling into the back of the wagon. "You two get some rest. Ash will stay with your two. He can be pretty warm and cozy," she said softly as she grabbed a leather piece and began to tack it in place over the top of the wagon. It wouldn't keep all the rain out but it would at least give them some form of shelter from the rain.

Kyra hated storms, always had. It was just one of those things that made her skin crawl. Luckily this one was more wetness than anger. She hoped that it would remain that way. She would be heading out shortly to scout ahead for the group once again and without her side kick Dire wolf Ash by her side. It was going to be a very long and lonely day. Turning she headed over to Keystone to see how Cremwise and he were fairing after everything. Cremwise seemed a little shook up but nothing horrible.

"You all did wonderful, thank you," Crem stated as he pulled his cloak closer to himself to try keep his clothing dry as the rain fell.

"We did our job and I expect the new comers who helped to be paid as well on our arrival," she stated flatly as she drew her sword from its sheath.

"Hey, no need to be threatening!" he said looking at the blade. Kyra looked at him confused and then shook her head as she began to understand why he seemed so on edge suddenly.

"Arrows don't fly well in the rain," she explained and he nodded, relaxing a bit. "Freaking noncombatants," she muttered under her breath as she pushed her drenched bangs out of her face and looked over towards Keystone. "I'm going to scout ahead. Will see what I can do about finding us somewhere dry to make camp, hopefully earlier today than yesterday. Ash is with Sona and the other woman, he will keep them safe while they rest in the back of the wagon. Stay on the road as much as you all can." With that she turned to go and then stopped, glancing over her shoulder. "Keystone, good job today," she added before she began to make her way once more. Then another new face appeared and Kyra's brows lowered.

"Seems you are a little late to the party. Speak to Keystone, he is the main one currently," was all Kyra said before brushing passed the man as she pulled the hood of her mantle up and darted off into the woods. She should have been gone more than an hour ago to scout but thanks to the ambush she was well behind schedule and needed to get on her way. Quickly making her way through the forest until she was out of sight of the rest of the group she found the line of trees near the edge of the road. Leaping up she gripped onto a branch and swung up into a tree and began to take to the high road as it were further north. She needed to find them somewhere to dry out this evening and rather quickly. The rain was coming down hard and she knew many would be chilled to the bone before long. Travel would be slow today and Kyra hoped rather uneventful.

Welcome to my little slice of 1x1. Here you will find a bit of what I am looking for in an RP partner, what my current cravings and story-lines are, and so forth. Now, please note that what is listed here is not everything but only the beginning. Right now I am currently in search of a single long term 1x1 partner. If you are just looking for something quick, please save us both the time and trouble. 1x1 Rp's I prefer to last quite some time and put as much if not more effort into them than I for Rp's I GM. Below you will find the details.

About Me:

• I am an RP junkie that has been at this way too long.
• I will rp most any scenario; even past story lines. Just because it isn't listed below does not mean I am not interested. If you have an idea or a craving and wish to RP with me drop me a pm.
• I stick to pm's. It just makes it easier and frankly if I 1x1 Rp, it is between myself and the person I am Rping with, not the entire guild.
• I am pretty blunt about things when we speak OOC. Not mean but I don't put up with crap.
• I enjoy lacing my Rp's with romance, but it must be developed and have a story-line. The more tension the better, build up is everything.
• I enjoy really screwing with characters. Both mine and my partners. Tormenting them in any way possible is always a plus. This does not mean torture really but mentally bending until right before they break. Drama is wonderful in Rp even if I hate it in real life.
• I do not require nor desire a cs for characters in 1x1. If you would like to create one, by all means do. I will usually write up a starter Cs for my main character before I begin and add to it as we go along.
• 1x1 are run as if we are co-gms. Don't let me control everything, this is your RP as well. Add to the story-throw in your own twists and turns.
• Don't ask me what your character should do next, this is up to you. It is your character, not mine.
• I use 1x1 to test new characters to be used later on in open RP much of the time. Or to see if a particular story-line could work as a group RP. This does not mean you have to join up if I end up reworking it as a group RP, but just so you know it could happen.
• Most anything else you can find out in my bio on my profile page.

Requirements

• Dedicated Rp partner that will stick around. If you drop usually mid rp, don't bother applying. Seriously save us both the time and effort.
• If you flake out on me without word and then respond after a week, I will not respond. I consider the RP dead at that point and have moved on.
• Rps run 2-5 months usually, sometimes longer. It will all depend on how quickly the story advances and various other factors.
• Must be able to contribute to the story line. I know I said similar above but I just wanted to hammer the point home.
• Must be able to run multiple characters. You will have your main and I will have mine but there will be NPC's, bring your own in. Add to it. It helps creates a much richer story.
• High Casual to Advanced only. A minimal of 2-3 paragraphs per reply unless we fall into some quick dialog but even then I expect at least 1 full well developed paragraph. If you wish to do more, please do. The more I am given to work with the more I will respond. The more you give me, the more I give you.
• Flood posting welcomed and encouraged. If you want to post 3, 4, 10 times a day. Go for it.
• A minimal of 1 post per 24 hours please. You know your posting abilities, so make note of it before we begin. I understand that every so often things come up but if you are flaking out more than once a week this probably isn't for you.
• Currently looking for someone to RP the male role. I have been Rping a lot of males lately and really just want to be the girl for a time
• Must be legal age, not entirely due to content, personal preference. It just makes it easier.
• Have to be open for pretty much anything, I don't half ass scenes and expect them to be played out fully. This means everything.
• If you flake out, know that this blacklists you for future 1x1 Rp's with me. I won't waste my time twice.
• If you flake out, know that I take is a lack of respect and I really don't want to deal with you after that. It takes all of 30 seconds to drop someone a note saying they can't post right now.
• If you are interested please drop me a PM and do not post here. Posting here just tells me you didn't read this topic fully and simply skimmed it. That makes me worry you will do the same in RP, so it isn't worth my time.

Current Cravings And Story-lines

Listed in order of craving from highest to lowest - Strike outs mean I have 1x1'ed them enough to no longer be craving them.

• The Maiko And The Servant: The Maiko, a Geisha in training, is approaching the time of her debut. A time when she will become what she has been trained to do for many years. Yet, what happens when a newly hired servant within the home of her training shows up and throws things off balance? Just who is this person? They slip and speak as if they are more than the rags on their back. Does she risk a life of influence and skill for one who by all appearances is beneath her? Only time will tell. We open at the first day of the servants hiring; less than a month before her debut.
• A Fight For Survival: In the middle of one of the worst blizzards that Scandinavia has seen in years a Viking woman is found outside in the cold, barely able to move and suffering from many wounds inflicted upon her by those that she has escaped from. A simple hermit comes across her and decides to help; perhaps if she survives you will be greatly rewarded for returning an escapee. Will she survive the fever? If she does, will you both survive the hard winter ahead? Fear and a mutual distrust run rampant but in the end, what will happen by the time the first frost melts? Will you still turn her over to those who caused her scars or will you both run for your lives. ~Note: This one will tie into a NRP at a later date; Do not join if you cannot handle delving into religions of the past without issue.~

• Cyberware R US: ~Rping with @Pundii~ We both are playing enhanced humans in one way or another. My character is a retired female mercenary who has become a weapons smith specializing in advanced weaponry. Your character is a client, former team mate, and long term friend who is still in the business. You are both older, but not out of it yet. She just finally hung up her own weapons after losing her arm in a mission. It has been completely replaced and such, looking and feeling as it if was the original. You have probably had nearly everything cyberwared up. You enjoy the enhancements and the edge it gives you. You come to her to see what new gadget she has put together recently and have a mission that you are hoping it will come in handy for. Both of you have been harboring feelings for each other for sometime now but have never acted on them or revealed them. An attack on her smith shop causes you two to book it out of there, injured and needing major repairs. You make it to "Docs" place where he begins to patch you up but it will be sometime before you are both fit for duty. During this time things get tense being in such close quarters and nearly loosing each other; it doesn't help that you both are trying to figure out who caused the attack so once you are ready there is nothing stopping you from revenge - other than yourselves.
• Escape From The Night: ~rping with @mamagermany~ Sixty-Five years ago, in the year 2025 you world went dark. You were a killer, a mercenary for hire or perhaps a government agent. It didn't matter. One moment you were minding your own business, the next everything went dark. It is cold, so very cold, and you are now waking up and coming to your senses. You lay within the confines of what looks to be a frozen crypt sitting in the center of a room. There are others there, looking like thawing corpses in their metal and glass coffins. From the walls there are tubes that have seemed to pump liquid nitrogen or some other chemical into the room but they are now broken and no long working. You are barely able to get the lid for your own off but you manage. Looking around you do not know where you are or why you are there. There is one other in the room, a woman is looking around wildly from groggily, sitting up from one of the resting places similar to yours. She seems as lost as you are. On a computer screen you see the word: Project Destini - Date November 3rd, 2090.... Wait? What happened to the last 65 years?

• The Telekinetic And The Barbarian: You play a male barbarianesque character on a world known as Altenia. You are a human character but come from a society that shuns what the galaxy has become. You do not want technology, women are for breading, you are strong, and honor is everything. You are the leader of your people. There is a story among your people that a woman once nearly destroyed your kind because of her telekinetic and telepathic abilities. The thing is that you rely on the goods that comes in from a Tower that is run by Telekinetic's from other planets. One such is my character, a newly transferred female telekinetic. She is of the highest rating and is training to run her own tower one day. Our story opens the day she transfer over; which happens to be the same day you are tired of dealing with the current talent Tristan's bullshit. You two meet and are exactly what the other hates about the opposite sex. She is Talent, powerful, willful, expecting to be treated as an equal. You are a Neanderthal as far as she is concerned, you need to put away the old ways, you need to accept that men are no better than women. Can you two learn to work together to do what is right for the planet and your people?
• The Countess And The Duke: Late 1800's - Our story begins the night my characters father is attacked and killed; the night of the yearly gala. My character is a woman who has refused to wed so far in her life. Her father raising her to know the family business and be able to handle herself. She refuses to be a wallflower or someone's property. She covers up the death for now and attends the Gala, saying her father is sick. You are a duke but while you have a title you have little use for it and prefer it that way. You tend to spend most of your time at a small hovel you purchased near the docks in the "bad part of town" to stay away from the snobbery of the life style. You are attending the Gala after being gone for years just to get a feel for what is about now and to make sure people know you are still alive as it were. Our story will unfold as our two characters meet and the mystery of her fathers murder unfolds. Can you find the one sent to kill the man? Can you do it before her life is also taken?
• The Huntress And The Monster: Set in a more refined but darker time the daughter of Duke Clemins is the youngest in a long line of Hunters. Her family has slowly been slaughtered over the centuries by Kindred (Vampires, Were's, other intelligent undead) until only she, her father, and a few distant relations remain. Our story opens at the yearly Autumn Ball; the last celebration before the dark of winter comes to the lands. Within the mansion is an uninvited guest during the ball but many do not notice; the masks of the Masquerade have made it easy to mingle. A sudden and unexpected attack forces the two of you to flee into the night; neither realizing that the other is at the top of their own personal hit list.

Welcome to the Beginners Guide to RP. I am hoping that with this guide that I can better help those that are new to the world of RP get a hang of things a bit easier. Knowing me, this will turn out to be a rather long read; so please bear with me. There is a lot to soak in when you are new to this world and even those that have been at this a while may be able to pick up a few tips and tricks. It doesn't matter if you have been Rping for three minutes or thirty years, we all can learn something. Shall we begin? Let's.

The Lingo
Rp has it's own slang and many things that pop up may make you scratch your head until you get used to it.

• RP - Role Play; the act of creating a story with at least one other person on a forum, in a chat room, etc.
• Rper - Role Player; a person who Role Plays
• RP Thread - Role Play Thread; The location for an RP you are participating in - It will contain an IC, an OOC, and a CS Tab
• IC - Interest Check; a post made to see if others are interested in an idea for an RP
  • In Character; a post made by an Rper that is using their characters
• OOC - Out Of Character; a post made just discussing the Rp when not in character
• CS - Character Sheet; The specific details about the character you have created written out
• CS Tab - Character Sheet Tab; The location in the RP Thread for your finished CS to go after you are approved by the GM
• GM - Game Master; This is the person that is hosting the RP, the control everything that happens and who participates
• CoGm - Co Game Master; This is the second or third in command of the RP, they are the back up GM and help to keep things running
• OP - Original Post(er); this is the first post in a topic or the first person to post. You will usually see this combined with OOC (The OP OOC, a GM may say "please refer to the OP for updates.)
• OC - Original Character; this is a character that can be played for a fan based RP or any RP really. This is a character you create from scratch and isn't just playing a character already in creation from a T.V. show, movie, or game.
• Free - This is the open section of RP. Posts are usually short and happen quickly. There are usually not many rules put into place in this section and it is many of the times the starting point for many Rpers.
• Casual - This is the more laid back section of RP and the middle ground for many Rpers. Most here have a laid back attitude about RP, have been at it some time. Some learn or teach here. Posts are usually between 1-2 paragraphs but can be much longer. Gm's vary greatly in this section and each has their own reason for choosing to host an RP here.
• ARP - This is the advanced section of the forum and is where you will usually find the most in-depth story lines, the highest standards, and the most requirements to join. Posts usually come much slower in this section.
• NRP - Nation RP; this section of RP has to do primarily with creating various nations or worlds and controlling them as other RPers do the same. There is usually warfare involved, heavily planned out posts that are put together with more than one RPer, and the conquering of other nations.
• TT - Table Top; these Rps are based off of games such as Dungeon and Dragons, Shadowrun, Magic The Gathering, and the like. Characters are created here using fixed systems already in creation and dice rolls are used to determine what happens.
• 1x1 - This section is for Rps that are usually just between two people, sometimes three. They are usually more intimate and you and the other Rper control not only your own character but all the NPC's to create a private story just for you two.
• NPC - Non-Player Character; this is a character in RP that usually has no CS and can be controlled by one person or many. They are not a main character in the RP but are there as a support character, a minor addition to help drive the story-line forward or to give details about a PC.
• PC - Player Character; this is the character that you control or another RPer controls
• Ship - A couple in RP; they may have come together in the actual RP itself or people known as Shippers may have seen their Cs's and thought they were the perfect pair.
• Metagame - The act of taking information from an area of the Rp your character has not been privy to. Such as knowing a character has had a bad life just because you read it in their CS but the character had not actually told you in IC.
• Godmodding - This usually is used to describe when a character does an action or series of actions that are without limits. They seem to avoid injury no matter what, can land every attack and so forth.
• Bunny - Moving another players character, having them respond or react. Example would be your character slaps another character and you say another players character looks at you and tells you to go to hell. Another would be that a character goes with you when you leave a room or so forth.
• Auto-Hit - The act of making an attack of yours automatically connect with another player without giving them a chance to react, respond, or attempt a dodge.

The Basics

1) How do I get started?
Well you have completed step one, you have created an account here on the forum. Kuddos! Now for the next and perhaps the most difficult step when it comes to beginning; jumping into the mix. First thing is to determine what you want to RP, what type of things do you enjoy? Are you a fantasy type? Do you wish to slay dragons and wield magic? Or would you rather to be in the real world and test the waters as a beat cop? Perhaps there is an Anime or Game you really enjoy and you want to make a character for. Figure out what you are craving before you do anything else.

Once you have determined what you are craving you need to figure out how much time you want to dedicate to RP, as well as your skill level. Most all beginners can jump either into the Free Section and just roll with it. Those that are a bit more advantageous may just want to leap head first into the casual section. Either way, unless you have been at it for a bit it may be best to stick to those two areas and refrain from ARP, NRP, and TTRP. 1x1 is a different monster since it would just be you and one other person. Each person has their own requirements so you will need to sift through all the 1x1 interest checks to find what skill level fits.

After that, just head into a section and check out the Interest Checks. If you don't see anything, don't be afraid to jump into the RP area of each section. There is a little note with each RP if they are accepting or if they are full. If they are accepting, look to joining even if you are new and it has been going on a while. Most Rpers and Gm's are more than willing to work with new comers and enjoy it in fact. A new fresh face to an RP is always welcome and as long as you are willing to read, to listen, and to learn you will do just fine.

2) Okay, I found one and they said I could join, what now?
First thing is first, read everything in the original OOC post no matter how long it is. Take the time to see what the GM expects from you and their other Rpers. Make sure you can fulfill what is requested of you before you really commit. Some may ask for you to post at least twice a week, others only once. Some will require in-depth Character Sheets, others you just wing it. No matter what the Gm requests, know this. In an Rp the GM is God/Goddess. They make the rules for that RP. By joining you are agreeing to follow them.

3) Alright, I agree to everything and like the set up. What now?
Now it is time for the character sheet. If the RP is already running look to see what others have done. Do all their character sheets look the same? Have the same format? Chances are the GM provided a precoded character sheet that you can copy and just fill in the blanks. If so, copy it - go to your profile page and PM it to yourself. That way you can edit it and change it as you need to while being able to look at it. Once it is complete, then post it in the OOC section and let the GM review it.

Some Gm's will leave it to you to create your own CS, others will say you don't need to wait for approval and can just toss it into the CS tab. Some, very few, will say you don't need one. Again, whichever is the preferred method of the Gm, go along with it. They set it up a certain way for a reason - that reason is usually a mystery to everyone but them but hey; they're running the show.

4) Okay, filled out and approved. Now, what the hell do I post?????
This can be tricky because it all depends on what the RP is about, who is running it, how long it has been running, and so forth. Here are a few things you can usually always post about to start and get you into the mix

• Detail out what your character is wearing. What color is it? Is the fabric stiff or flowing? Easy to move in or are they so over-weighted that the heat is starting to get to them?
• What do they look like? Even if you have an image for your character, talk about how they look. Alert? Tired? Flashing green eyes or deep chocolate ones? Is their hair nice and neat or a mess? How about how they carry themselves? Do they walk hunched over or are they riding a horse and looking prouder than a peacock?
• What are they thinking about? Is their mind wandering to their lost love? Are they glad to be out in the open air? Does this dungeon really need a spritz of Fabreeze?
• What do they see? Talk about the scenery of where they came from or where they are going. Did they just have to stop and empty rocks out of their boots? Are those stupid kids playing their rap music too loud? Hey, coffee shop! Java time! Roll with it!
• Cross The Line - I hate to admit this but with most any Rper I have ever Rped with - if they can't think of something to post I will usually then say, "Then post about a fart!" - Seriously. Even at my age, toilet humor still cracks me up and brings out the twelve year old in me.)

5) How long should my post be?
That will really depend on the GM - more so than the section. So check and see what others are posting but also look at what the Gm requires as a minimal or a maximum. Most Rps I host require a minimal of two well developed paragraphs but most people in my Rp's will type well beyond that. So just take a look. If the Gm only requires a paragraph but everyone else is posting ten do NOT let that deter you. If you can only post one, post one. Never let another Rpers post length or quality put you off or daunt you. Rp is an ever evolving learning experience. Don't be afraid to surround yourself with outstanding Rpers. We all started somewhere and trust me if you saw the crap I used to post... Let's just say I am glad those places are closed down now. lol

6) Yeah, this is all well and good but I really still haven't found anything for me. What do I do?
Start your own! Get a basic story line up for the RP and post an Interest Check in the area of the forum you want to draw people in from and wish to host it. Once you get enough people saying they are interested then create and OOC post that includes your story line, any rules you want people to follow, a CS sheet if you wish and so forth. After people have filled in, submitted their Cs's, and are ready to go - RP!

7) I don't know how to code all this stuff... What do I do?
Well, you can either go without coding or just give it a try. Remember when I mentioned Pming yourself? Yeah, use that so you can get your stuff together without others looking on if you want. A little bit of practice and you should have it down no problem. If you are having an issue and you just can't figure out why it isn't looking right. Pm a friend on the forum that knows coding here to help. Or Pm me if you wish. I'll give you a hand. (Sadly coding this crap is one of my favorite things to do. ><!)

God no, but that is where I stopped typing. See the thing with RP is that it is ever evolving and people always have questions. There is no way to completely encompass every last detail here. What I can do is this... Ready for it?... Here it is.... Breath. You'll get this. If you have any questions, ask them below and I will answer when I can. As questions get asked and answered, I will see what I can do about adding them to this and slowly building on it. It will never be completed.
