⚘ A Brief History
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I've been at this a long time and when I say a long time I mean a long long damn time. I started out with table top, ADnD, back in the 80's, then dived into others: Nightlife, Mage the Ascension, Shadow Run, HoL, etc. Moved onto Online in the 90's. I've been running various incarnations of a single RP group for twenty years now. Worked helping setting up, building, and/or admining/modding various RP forums over the years: Adventure Quest, Priston Tales, War Gods, etc. It's been a long road filled with ups and downs. I'm an evil GM, you've been warned.

Outside of RP, I am a mom. Yup, I've reproduced and there are little Lady A's running around plotting their own take over of the world. I am a published author and once upon a time an award winning poet. I've done a lot in my life. I haven't done as much as I would like. I've grown a lot. I have a lot more growing to do. I love to cook, baker by trade currently. I went to university and majored in Mathematics. I've programmed websites, worked as a model, worked as a 3d modeler. Shit, I even used to dance. And have been known to sing a bit. Jack of all trades. Master of like 3, lol.

⚘ Looking Inside
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This is where I go into my personality. In the past I would normally make some self deprecating remark about how I am a bitch of a GM, pushing my rpers as hard as I push myself and so forth. Not anymore. People change, or perhaps they just come into their own. This can happen at any age. More than that it can happen several times over the course of your life as you discover and rediscover yourself. Everything happens for a reason, usually that reason is ones owns actions. Or inaction's. Right now, I am in a better place than I can remember being in the longest time. I am happy and at peace. I have no regrets. Maybe I should but I don't. I plan on keeping this peace I have found, I went far too long without it.

Currently I am enjoying several things. Some are things I have enjoyed most of my life: Coffee, chocolate, bacon, M*A*S*H. One isn't something I have enjoyed since I was seventeen: being clean and free of poisons in my system. It is beyond description and I love it: One-hundred and twenty days and counting. Music taste is shifting to more mood oriented than anything, strange I am finding a lot of newer Country I am enjoying and I have NEVER liked country. Watching things like Lark Rise to Candleford and being hooked to the point of reading the trilogy. Recently added yoga to my workouts and all I can say is, "Fuckmaste: the fucked up in me accepts the fucked up in you."

@Ashevelendar Personally, I believe that everything posted by everyone in an RP is a must to read (in fact I require it in my Rps)

Yes, it can lead to meta gaming but that is a Gm problem and they should be policing that and requiring edits if a person pulls that metagame card. While it may not affect a character right then, it could later - or at least give an Rper a better understanding of a character.

Example - Character A is dressing in room 1 while talking with character B - but character C is in room 2 minding their own business. Character A leaves room 1 and goes into room 2 and is now wearing a chicken on their head. If the Rper controlling character C did not read the post between character A and B while in room 1 - how the hell are they going to know to react to the chicken on character A's head? - (Yes, that is a bit out there but you get the point.)

The biggest problem I find some Rpers is not metagaming - it is lack of paying attention to what is posted. Metagaming is far easier to correct with a post edit than people missing huge chunks of information that they didn't see because thy figured the post would never pertain to them. I have to request edits constantly or throw down the ~well you should have read this but didn't so I am going to smash you with a hammer~ card to get my point across.

RP may stand for roleplay but it also stands for the fundamentals of RP - Read/Post - First you read, then you post. It doesn't mean you read what you want to and get to the rest later.

So yes, if you wish to Rp - then you MUST read.

My two copper pieces as it were.

Kyra & Sana

Location: Cross Swords Tavern
Interacting With: Satilla, Thomas & Each Other
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kyra nodded towards Satilla. "Thanks, this should do," she said as she took the potions and handed half over to Sana. Sana finished tying her corset in place and slipped her share into her leather pouch she kept on her belt. Works for me," Sana added as she took a seat once again and shuffled through her pack to see how her supplies were running. It was okay, at least for while they were in town. If Kyra wanted them trekking out and about she would need to make a few stops herself.

"Okay Satilla, if you can create anything that can give light I think we will need that," she said as she picked up the scrolls she had been looking at earlier. Sana quirked a brow but Kyra shook her head. She wasn't about to go into it just yet. There were still members of the group having breakfast that hadn't made their way up to the room and she didn't want to have to go over everything with half of them and just repeat it again for the other half. It could wait a few more minutes but a few more minutes was all she was going to wait. The look on her face said everything.

"Oh here," she said to Sana before reaching over to her own pack and pulling out a bundle. Sana watched her old friend as she undid the bundle and a stack of arrows was within it. "Don't know how useful these will be but figured after the last fight we needed to restock," she admitted and Sana nodded in agreement. Taking enough from the stack to fill her quivers and Kyra taking the rest. They weren't silver, just standard but they would have to do. Sana got the feeling though they would be doing a lot more close quarters combat than distance though if Kyra was saying she didn't know how useful they would be and asking Satilla about making potions that could create light.

As Thomas came in Kyra looked over to him and motioned for him to go ahead and take a seat at the table. "Alright, well if that is the case, make sure to stay in the back of the group and near someone when you cast. You and Satilla should probably stick together. If anything she can be your eyes and we won't have someone better suited for fighting leading you around."

"Going to finally tell us what you found out?"

"Giving the rest of the group a few more minutes, after that though, just gonna proceed without them. I want to get a move on. I don't want to be out after dark," she said as she adjusted her quiver to get a few more arrows into it.
>TMW you see someone post something in an RP you know is going to blow up tremendously in their face but you refuse to point it out because you want to see the shitstorm that unfolds.

Almack's, London

The thing was that Elizaveta had indeed taken guards with her, two of them. They were not circus but her fathers. Yet they had been told to stand outside and that Elizaveta was fine with Mary at her side. Granted this was not the first time that Elizaveta had dismissed her assigned guards. Thankfully they had kept an eye out on things but kept quiet and in the background, avoiding notice and not stepping in since the Grand Duchess never seemed to be in grave harm. The main carriage that Elizaveta had taken to the event was parked down the cobblestone path a bit and both were standing there keeping a distant eye on the secondary carriage that had brought the others. A slight smirk on one of their faces. Chances were they were the ones that had moved the carriage in the first place when everyone went running in.

Myska yawned deeply, stretching out his front paws and clawing at the area rug a bit before he curled up along the backside of Elizaveta while she sat there in prayer. His tail flicking and resting over her lap as his body gave her a place to rest against and his head lay on his front paws to the other side of her. He watched the room with disinterest it seemed. Just content to be around the girl that had raised him from a cub. He acted more like a lap dog than a 650lb wild animal that was for sure.

Elizavta felt the warmth of his fur through her gowns and grinned slightly as she continued her prayer, trying to lock out the ramblings of the rest around her. She couldn't start the ceremony yet, not until the rest of the ones that had departed had been brought to her but she could prepare herself. It was going to be a long evening. Especially with the two arrivals that seemed bent on blabbing or staring at everyone else. She had not been introduced to them, so she knew not their names and they hadn't been around when she was introduced or name was spoken - so the most they would know is that she had servants and was treated as a higher up that they called Her Grace. Granted her clothing gave away that she was more than just some standard member of the ton but her world and nation was mostly closed off from the rest currently so even her clothing would not give away where she was originally from.

The room where dear Mosi had passed away seemed to be on edge. Her body lay there but the bodies of the dead Soulless were still there as well. Bodies of Soulless that had finally been ended started to deteriorate quickly but these had not. They had not been put through the final death and still could rise, as could another Soulless that lay around the fallen body of Jane out on the balcony. The room still reeked of burning flesh and the smoke was still in the air. Though the birds that had followed Mary earlier had helped clear some of it out, it still stung the eyes if one was not careful and didn't blink for too long.

Wyndham Manor, London

Cook looked over at Gerard as he took off and sighed. This was not going to go over well, she knew that. Maybe she shouldn't have told him. It really wasn't her place to tell anyone what Millicent had been through but she had been so upset over it that she had let her lips get the better of her and blurted it out to Gerard without thinking. "Oh dear..." she said as she clasped the edge of her apron against her lips and tried to calm herself down.

There was no sound from Millicent's bedroom, at least not for a long moment. Then the door opened slowly and Abigail looked up at Gerard and placed a finger to her lips as if to tell him to be quiet. "Be carefuls whats yous says, though I wonders if shes can even heard yous," she said before opening the door fully.

In the room it was dark, only a few candles lit and Millicent was dressed in a simple off white and flowered walking gown. She was sitting in a chair facing the window where the flowers that Gerard had given her had been sitting earlier in the day. She didn't move, just starting blankly off to nothingness, an empty tea cup sitting on the table next to her. "She ain't said nothing since I returned. She like a doll, will move as I move her but not on her own. It is like she is gone and that is just be a shell," Abigail said quietly. The girl turned and gathered a couple of buckets of water that had been pulled from the tub and moved to take them downstairs so she could get to work emptying the bath fully. "Maybes yous can sits with hers untils I am done. I don'ts wants her to be alone," she said pushing Gerard with her hip towards Millicent before she left the room and headed downstairs.

Millicent didn't even seem to notice that anyone had come or left her room. She just sat there unmoving with her hands on her lap. On one finger was a paltry excuse for a ring, one she had not had one when she left that evening. She barely blinked, if she did at all, it was hard to tell. She had been cleaned up but time had passed. The mark from earlier in the day was no longer covered by the remains of running makeup. It was clear to see and another was spreading out on top of it. Her neck showed the tell tale signs of hand marks forming as bruises, as if someone had tried to strangle her. Though had it not been for the color these marks showed, one might think she no longer drew breath or was a statue. Even her breathing was so shallow that it didn't cause a rise in her chest as she sat there.

Newhope

~rolls where made for Anisa's Crew to see if anyone would by chance notice the new arrival hiding behind the crates. None will notice her off hand or get a feeling that something isn't right.~

Anisa took the buyer over to the engine room where Gideon was so the man could poke and prod it. Anisa was getting impatient at this point and Gideon didn't seem to be taking too well to someone poking around his area. Gideon had not been happy about Harper either. Now there were two engineers on the ship, just as there were two pilots. Harper just happened to be the second for both and while Harper hadn't taken over the engine room, he had taken over the bridge. Gideon had made his opinion known on his to Anisa but she brushed it off and warned him if he kept it up he could be replaced as well. Gideon shut up then.

Atticus finished packing up his things and started moving them over to the Cargo bay while Jahosafat was speaking with Foy. The preacher smiled a bit, happy to see that the Doctor seemed to be cheering up. Harper seemed to be speaking to the man as well. "Why of course, I will make sure there isn't a helix left on this ship once everyone is off," he assured Harper before turning his attention back to his old friend.

"Oh ho ho ho my good man, I do indeed! Will make inquires about it once I am finished with the rounds and get this ship polished perfection. Shall we say around six this evening my good man? We can find a bit of something for our hunger and then head off to places of debauchery on a full stomach!" he said looking forward to some time off the ship. Atticus cocked a brow and looked over to them as he set his things down.

"Sins of the flesh? Oh I could use a vice or two this evening myself," he said with a grin. It was no secret that the preacher was anything but a completely holy man. "Hey Dorothy, you need any help? I'm all done with my packing."

Over in The Lady Luck, Luck was not being a lady tonight. As the dice fell, Aiden's number was up and he lost the toss. There went the money he had laid down on this round. Though maybe it wasn't the end of his luck or perhaps his luck had went elsewhere, somewhere more valuable. What was slipped into his drink was a common enough tactic of the women of Lady Luck's, a simple drug that would dissolve quickly, was tasteless, and would make the men on their arms much more willing to do what they wanted. Like go back to a room and go to sleep while they were robbed blind.

Easy Street was the name of the drug but for Aiden, it just didn't seem to be working. Seemed Lady Luck was on his side. Money gone, drug not working. Gave him the perfect excuse to move on to something else and away from them now that their attention was starting to waiver. An impatient lot was a good way to describe the women of Lady Luck's. They wanted quick, easy, and rich marks. Seemed that Aiden was not going to fit the bill. Had he won the round he would have pulled in plenty and could have made a real run for it in the next game, something that was worth their time but the dice had held onto their edge and plopped down to leave his wanted winnings in the hand of the Croupier. The loss caused a riotous laughter from the crowd around the table that wafted out to the streets.
Sunie Marks

Sunie drummed her fingers against the counter she was getting impatient at this point. It shouldn't have been taking this long to get a result. The place must not exist. Sighing she ruffled the back of her hair and turned to look at the man; about to tell him there was nothing and that he needed to leave at this point because there was nothing more that she could do for him. Then she heard the ding behind her and her brow perked.

"Of course..." she muttered under her breath with a bit of sarcasm to her voice. That was the way it always happened, just when you are through waiting and about to move on, something hits. Maybe she should have given up the search ten minutes ago? Sighing she went back to the screen and took a look at just what had taken so long.

"Well I found it...." she said as she looked over the coordinates. Jotting down the information on a slip of scrap paper she walked back over to the counter and slid it across. "You're on the wrong planet," she said as she left the paper on the counter for him. "Dandong, on Xinon is where you need to be."
It really is going to boil down to how you are as a Gm and what type of crowd you are wanting to attract. Some people are good with a few details and building along with you, some people want a map. Some might be good to just see a few tid bits in the interest checks, others want everything that will be in the original OOC post right off the bat.

As stated before - layout is going to be a major factor but no matter how much interest you generate at the beginning, keeping it moving and together is the long term goal. So think ahead. How far as you wanting to take this? Are you going to be able to keep it moving in 3 months? Six months? I know it may seem like most Rps will die of be finished in that time frame but that isn't always the case. I don't have a single RP I am hosting currently that has been running less than 7 months. I have multiple that are over a year.

Having a group helps but getting that group together in the first place is key. That will take an RP or two most likely. I joined many Rp's before I started Gming them here on the forum even though I had a lot of experience in the GM department. I wanted to get a feel for the people here and how things were done. I took what I learned from there and worked with it to work for me.

Personally, for me, when I make an Interest Check I have usually already worked on it for 1-6 months behind the scenes in PM's to myself. I have a complete Original OOC post ready and that is my Interest Check. It contains a summery, a hook, the rules, the CS templates, and more. I make sure Rpers know exactly what they are getting into with me before they even post interest. Will that work for you? Who knows. It works for me so I keep with it and tweak as needed.

If you are worried about code or layout, PM yourself and work on it where others can't see or grab a template from the Articles Section of the forum (I have a link to mine in my signature) - You may also want to check out Gming 101 and 201 to help try to figure out what may work for you.

No matter what you do, don't give up. Some Rp's will die or never even get off the ground. Just take it as a learning experience and keep trucking. As much as people may say that Rps dying or people loosing interest is the status quo it doesn't have to be for you. Any questions, feel free to pm me.

~Lady A
@mnkee Okay, sounds good, thankies on all accounts. ^^

Barracks: Aziza nodded towards Lauren as she handed over the bottle before looking over to Josephine and giving her an understanding look. "I think a medic has been called," she said before glancing around. She hoped one had and in fact one indeed had been summoned, but had been done by Lord Major Keystone in signals and not words, so it was really anyone's guess that was not in the British Military.

Sighing a bit to herself she turned back to Lauren an gave her a nod as if to say go ahead once the Lord Major had given his consent. She hoped this would work. Her eyes drifted to William for a minute, he looked green as he watched Vera. Vera still hadn't come around but then again the bottle was waiting to be pushed under her nose. Thankfully though she was breathing evenly and there didn't seem to be any outward sign of distress. In fact the green sickly color that had been on her skin seemed to have gone away as she lay there suffering from the vapors. Hopefully once Lauren gave the woman a good sniff of the spirits her own would come around. The medic was on his way but having to have to run from the other side of the barracks where the infirmary was located was causing him to take a little longer than he would have liked.

Garden City: "Oh yes, of course," he said taking the letter and giving a glance down at the address located on it. "I shall make sure to have it in her hands within the hour Miss," he said with a bit of lilt to his voice as he tucked the letter within his coat pocket. "I was just going to be heading out myself to run a few errands for my Aunt, I will be happy to see to this first."

Shuffling the papers he was working on his head snapped to the side as Neema came waltzing into the room. "There you are," she said as she handed over a slip of paper to the man at the desk. "Oh, Miss Kingston. I see you have met my nephew," she said with a smile.

"Not exactly, we haven't bee introduced," he admitted as he grinned. Neema chuckled and nodded.

"Well, this is Miss Nora Kingston, a woman as intelligent as she is beautiful. And this dear child is my nephew Aton," the old woman said introducing the two.

"Then she must be even more intelligent than you Auntie," he said with a broad smile, giving his aunt a bit of a wink.

The Road To The Museum: The roads were growing more and more crowded by the minute. This was going to take a bit longer to get form point A to point B than originally thought. Problem was not only the locals and the tourist who were out and about but there was an overturned cart at the next cross walk which was causing traffic to back up, horses to get antsy, and everyone and their brother to stop and stare.

Thankfully no one seemed to be hurt but there were plenty of dates and silks that were getting nearly ruined in the streets. granted some people didn't thin they were ruined beyond use as several local urchins ran in grabbed a few things along the gutters and ran off again. Men yelling at other men to get a move on but who could tell if they didn't speak the language. What could be told just from the intonation alone was that they were royally ticked off.
@mnkee You could do that.

Though I have to wonder, after I was pmed about it - all this talking - he has yet to say two words and then suddenly is speaking volumes? Where as his sister who was rambling like she was never going to talk again is suddenly a two word person? Just feels like you are switching out personalities for them. - Also, this - That’s not to say though that he could not easily disarm her and overpower her if he so desired to. - Is this narrative or just arrogant internal monologue?
