Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

Dawn of a New Age - The Return of Magic

I. Intro

Many stories exist of ancient civilizations, of monsters, magic, and mayhem. But these are not just legends. 10,000 years ago, Magic was the dominant force on this planet, and was as common as science is today. There is a cycle that determines which force will be in control of civilization, but thanks to the actions of humanity at Atlantis and Babel, that cycle has been thrown askew, with Earth being cut off from Magic longer than usual. But now, something has changed.

People have begun experiencing visions of winged, angelic beings called Malakim, some beautiful, others terrifying, and some both. Shortly after, those who have seen these beings, whether in dreams or in waking life, began manifesting strange, supernatural gifts, gifts each connected to a facet of existence. These powers have attracted attention both good and bad, as the world's governments have sought to capture and contain these 'Magi'.

In a world that is growing worse, the chaos caused by the Return of Magic might yet unravel an already tense situation...but the Malakim do not want Humanity to destroy itself, and so have given additional guidance to a group of Magi, asking them to turn the tide, to arrest the headlong decline of the world into a 'crapsack' state. Will you answer the call? If so, let the world enter the next phase of its destiny...

Welcome to Dawn of a New Age, the RP. In this RP, magic has begun appearing in the modern world. Your characters are a group of 'Firsters', some of the first people to develop magical abilities. You will be forced onto the run from the US Government, who is looking to acquire your powers and use them as a weapon of war.

------

Note; this RP was originally made by Flamelord, but he gave me permission as long as no one, and I repeat no one mentions him.

II. Magic

There are six disciplines of Magic:

High - There are many theories that try to explain High Magic. Some say that it is the power of The Divine, and that our ancestors edited the tenets of many religions and sects to bar people from accessing it. Others say that it is the power of positive emotions, channeled through 'quantum interactions inside our brain'. Nevertheless, High Magic is the power of controlling Magical Energy itself, allowing for the ability to see all Magic, to draw available magical energy from the sky and earth, create constructs of condensed Mana, create and fuel magitech and enchanted items, ward people and places from magic, and finally, the ability to create bolts of silver-white light that cause damage that cannot be healed by Magic (although Science is exempt).

World - World Magic is control over the physical elements of the world. You want to create Fire? World Magic. You want to alter Gravity to make yourself float? World Magic. You want to use lightning to electrocute a person? World Magic. Basically, if it has nothing to do with changing one thing to another, or controlling something that isn't wholly of this earth? World Magic is your key. Basically, Bending from Avatar: The Last Airbender, but without healing or spiritual arts and with control over gravity.

Change - This is the magic that deals with changing one thing to another. This magic can knit wounds and reverse aging, cause trees to grow fists and turn vines into whips. This magic can change one substance to another, turning lead into gold, earth into acid, and fire into water. What it cannot do, however, is affect stuff protected by High magic, or mess with things that are already dead. That belongs to another school, the magic of the Underworld.

Underworld - Death is all around us, and the old laws against disturbing the ghosts who chose not to pass on are gone, cast into the wind. Nevertheless, the souls of the departed have to be treated with respect...but it is not the same for their bodies. Underworld Magic is the magic of Necromancy; it is the magic you wield when you want to raise an army of the dead, to control the shadows of the world, to speak with ghosts, and to strike people dead with one blow. You can even use this to transcend death, allowing you continued existence in this world without need for food, drink, and sleep...

Timespace - The magic of travelling vast distances in a single bound, of teleportation, portals, bullet time, and scrying. The strongest Magi can even control probability, making a person luckier or unluckier, sometimes to absurd levels. But what it cannot do is reverse the past, basically, no time travel. Time stop, however, is a possibility...

Mind Magic - This magic deals with controlling minds and altering emotions of both humans and animals, as well as creating illusions, mental compulsions, and even erasing or editing memories. A very powerful magical discipline, but a strong willpower can break its effects...

Basically, each PC is supposed to mix and match effects from multiple sources of magic, but the more disciplines you take your power from, the less room you have to grow.

OK, I would just like to remember you guys that I'm a Co-GM, and actually the setting's creator, so if you are going to send any PMs, or ask any questions you can/should do so to me as well. Please? For politeness' sake?

By the way, all the CSs up to Maria are approved by me as well. Thank you all for your interest.

Same as KoL said. Everyone up to Maria is approved. Will look at Maria and any others tomorrow.

Huh? I thought 'up to Maria' meant that Maria is also approved?
@Letter Bee She won't really care if he doesn't try to hurt Vesta or messes with Zin.

Cool.
@Lunarlors34@Spriggs27, So...how will Zin treat Alexander if Alexander tries to get together with Avery?

Name: Maria Hamada
Title/Alias: Midas Touch
Age: 23.
Gender: Female.
Height: Average.
Weight: Average
Appearance:

Powers:

Castilian - Tagalog Alchemy: Maria's mother had a heritage of Spaniard and Filipino, not just in genes and culture, but also in magical knowledge, for in the Philippines, the arts of East and West mixed freely, with Castilian methods of transmutation and concoction mixing with the unique possibiliites in Filipino herbalism and knowledge of nature, with a smattering of Chinese knowledge. Thus, Maria can create healing powders, explosive compounds, antidotes to poison, and of course, transmute lead to gold or create an Elixir of Immortality.

Drawbacks: The secret to how Castilian-Tagalog Alchemy even works is that it uses Yokai parts, with the more powerful compounds requiring that the Yokai be willing to give up their body parts. In fact, the Elixir of Immortality requires a Yokai of Chikage Akane's level to give up her heart of her own free will, something that probably won't ever happen.

Weapons:

Nemesis Kalis - A Kalis that glows silver in the Crimson Sky, the Nemesis Kalis was forged from a Dragon's fang, and enchanted with Filipino Baybayin* script that gives it the power to cut wounds that cannot be regenerated by magic.

*en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baybayin

9mm Pistol and ammunition.

Anti-Materiel Sniper Rifle.

Equipment:

Bag of Holding - A minor treasure that allows Maria to contain weapons, ammunition, money, food and water inside a small space, no larger than a small pouch.

Other: N/A.

Sample Post/Introduction:

Five Years Ago

"Maria, you are eighteen now," the middle-aged Japanese man, clad in his hakama, stood as he and Maria gazed out over the garden and koi pond. "It is time you learned about your mother, the source of the other half of your heritage." He would then smile. "For a long time, being only Half-Japanese has brought trouble and danger to your life, and it is only my name that protects you. You may even feel ashamed of it, as our society is biased to those of 'pure blood'. Well, it is time for you to know that your mixed blood is not a source of shame, but rather of pride, pride because in another world, your heritage is one of power, wonder, and fear."

"Are you talking about the Crimson Sky, oto-sama?" Maria said. "But that's a myth!"

"So young and yet so sure," the middle-aged Japanese man, Fubuki Hamada, smiled. "Then why don't you come with me, sit by the pond?" He would then begin walking forwards, and Maria, out of obedience, followed him...only for the sky to change, with the full moon turning pink amidst a blood-red sky.

"I...I don't believe it," Maria was now staring at this new world around her, where in the air, the koi swam in the air. Wait, make that Yokai who looked like koi. "But I have to, don't I, oto-sama?" She was trying to calm down, but her body was still tense, adrenaline flowing through her body. "This cannot be denied."

"Indeed it can't," Fubuki said. "Your mother, my wife, was not just a mail-order bride, but also a Chaser, one who had her own mind and will, even in her marriage to me. She was a proud woman, one who knew the secrets of a unique form of Alchemy, one that turned the parts of Yokai into something useful, yet were bound to rely on the powerful ones being willing to give up their body parts. I loved her, although I will admit that at first, it was because of the power she promised, but now..."

"But now, her loss, in that car accident on Earth, it brings pain to my heart and soul," the middle-aged man finished.

"Why are you telling me this, oto-sama?" Maria said, "I mean, I'm glad you waited till I was eighteen to show me the Crimson Sky, but...I was planning to go to the Philippines, as I don't have much opportunity in Japan."

"Hear me out, Maria," Fubuki coughed a little after that. "Your mother made the sacrifice of marrying me, knowing little about who she was binding herself to, to save the secrets of Castilian-Tagalog Alchemy, and even advance it. Do you realize how precious that knowledge was to her? To me? Knowledge is beautiful, precious, and it must be preserved and passed on."

"I know that I cannot ask you to sacrifice your life unwillingly, but please, let me teach you what your mother knew, let me pass on the knowledge of Castilian-Tagalog Alchemy, so that you can pass it on to others, other Chasers..."

Viper was about to attack, but Nails stopped her and said, “No. let’s see how this show ends. I have a feeling what this boy is doing might come back to bite him.” Viper looked at him quizzically before sighing and backing off.

“I bet the rest of the team is having fun,” Viper hissed.

Drake’s memories showed Black Falcon City. Artificial rain fell from the dome that kept the people, inside the city safe from the outside world. Everyone in the city seemed to be in a trance as they walked the sidewalks towards their destination. Robots managed the local shops and some were doing business with passersby that stopped to browse their selection.

The large ten foot clock in the middle of the park slowly clicked as the hands slowly moved forward. One of the clock’s hands looked like a large key with cogs and gears on it as the gears turned with every click. Drake stood in front of the clock watching the hands move. His emotions clogged the air with hatred, anger, and blood lust. However, under all that was regret. Regret for something he had done so long ago. He didn’t look at Tocsax as he asked, “Ever wonder if the side you’re fighting for, is the right one?” Drake then shook his head and added, “Not right in a justice sort of sense, but right as in a fate sort of sense”

“Do you think the old man knew about my past” Drake asked as he turned to face Tocsax before he continued, “Do you think he knew about the Shadow Nexus? I’m not sure, but I wonder if I’m even worth in fighting anymore for the light. The darkness is so much easier to adapt to, to understand. Yet, what the seekers of darkness want to do is, in my mind, not right. However, can I judge them?” Drake sighed before turning towards the clock and staring at the key that replaced one of the clock hands.

“If you wish to see my past, then I will not stop you. However, you must be warned: what you are about to see will change your perception about me. I’m not proud of it and I certainly would change it if I could. However, I have to ask you again: are you sure you’re up to this? Because I sure as hell don’t want to relive this hell again,” Drake said.

---

Nails watched the three before he turned to Data-Ascot and asked, “I know the boys thoughts on Drake, but where do you stand? Can you actually trust someone who murdered countless people for money? Can you stand there and truthfully say you trust a man you know nothing about?”

Seth

Seth, in the meantime, had problems of his own. Apparently using both of one's most powerful abilities back to back was not the greatest idea in the world. Who knew? Breathing heavy, the Nobody gave himself a sarcastic chuckle. It was like the Pyramid all over again, Seth was drained and unable to conjure a single magical spell. That, on top of his previous super speed taking its toll on his physical stamina didn't exactly bode well for him.

"Great... you're still here?" the Nobody grunted as he watched the image of Jeanne slowly approach him. He was right about one thing: the Incubators really did pick the one magical girl who was the biggest pain in the arse. As she was about to raise her sword, Seth practically groaned as the hologram suddenly copied itself until he was staring down not one but three Jeannes, "And... there's three of you now, naturally..." he glanced around as the trio of holograms closed in for the kill. He moved to stand up straight, but lost his balance and fell back to his knee again. But when he did, something fell out of Seth's pocket and plopped down on the floor in front of him: a certain rust-colored capsule he'd been given a while back in Moscow.

Seth grinned, "Whelp... time to see what this pill can do." he swiftly plucked the capsule off of the floor and dropped it into his mouth... and swallowed. His magic was still drained, which was actually not that surprising. But the Rapture Pill did restore something else. As all three Jeannes brought their swords down, the Nobody found himself able to move again and he dodge-rolled out of the way, his physical fatigue completely restored and then some thanks to the pill.

"I'm getting really tired of this game..." he muttered, peeling off his black gloves and dropping them on the floor beside him. All three holograms lunged again, but missed when the Nobody suddenly flash-stepped out of the way, and all three were surprised when each suddenly found a fist buried deeply in their abdomens. Each flew back, and each dissolved away into data before their holographic forms even touched the floor.

He moved over to where Data-Ascot stood alongside one of Drake's so-called brothers, "Then you obviously don't know him very well." the Nobody said with a grin, "If they're willing to trust me, then the sky's the limit." it was true, the Nobody thought of himself as the least trustworthy and most unreliable member of the team. He was lazy, far too playful for his own good, and to top it all off he couldn't even say for sure that he trusted himself, much less deserved the trust of others. And yet, here Seth stood.
Alexander Sky

"Nah," said Alexander, "she has a wedding ring. Lugnican weddings are similar enough to 'our land's' that stuff like rings can be easily recognized. Not that she isn't beautiful, though, her husband must be lucky. Either way, let's apologize to the Elf." And with that, he would walk towards Blanc...only to find a bald-headed man pushing a drunkard out of the tavern with what can only be superhuman strength. Said superhuman strength was caused by a blessing so bright that it had prevented Alexander from registering the fact that the man was wearing an Earth undershirt with Earth suspenders and what were unmistakably uniform pants and riding-boots.

"Some investigator I am," Alexander said as he fought the eyestrain given by the brightness of the man's blessing, trying to record details of his facial expression, his bearing, and his lean and mean muscles. There was a tattoo that further confirmed his Earth Origins (Scottish Regiment? Awesome!), and of course, his bare arms, shoulders, and the small of his back were covered in scars from gunpowder, knife, fire, and a dozen military-related concepts.

Instantly, he knew what to do.

"Sean," the boy was about to make a request, "can you apologize to the Elf with the blue wolf for me? I need to talk with our Scottish friend here." This time, he would not give the blond man any opportunity to refuse - not that he would have a reason to - as Alexander would go to Duncan, and, setting himself before the guy, bow his head slightly, before saying:

"I must apologize. It seems that in my unseemly haste to make things better, I ended up making things worse. But, sir, it seems that we may be bound by common interests and origins, and despite my childish recklessness, it seems that we have much to offer each other...especially as you seem surprised that you have superhuman strength, yet I can see the glow of Magic on you."

I should do something Sherlock-like - the version set in a modern setting, which I didn't find the time to actually watch, and ask him whether he got his scars in Iraq or Afghanistan.

"Also, I may know of a place to gain gainful employment; I've heard rumors that the Iron Bell Knights of Lugnica are hiring mercenaries for 'support'. They might use someone like you..."

Alexander tried to keep his face calm and his speech even...just as he was blatantly ogling Duncan's hot body.

@ZekariVoblis
Yes, yes he is very much the tease. As Dante can attest to XD (Though to be fair, Avery doesn't introduce himself as a female. He simply introduces himself with his name, he just views that if you're stupid enough to not realise then he won't tell ya :D Then again he also goes out of his way to make himself as convincing as possible XD)
@Letter Bee
Despite how he acts he will shy away from such things XD
Get him drunk and he might XD

Yeah...Alexander isn't that low.
@Lunarlors34, then what about a one-night-stand?
