Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

The thread is the standard spot for completed apps, but as Cloud said, PMs are fine too.

Is anyone going to post IC?

Of course. No need to be impatient; just give it a little time. It's rare to see posts the first day after an update, after all.
Cool, cool! I'd like to join if you guys don't mind. Though the tricky part is to decide who to be. I was going to choose Jak and Daxter but I saw they were taken already. Just have to think who I want to be instead. You guys only take game characters or any character in general.

I'd be happy to have you. Jak and Daxter are indeed ProPro's, but the good news is that there's many alternatives. Game characters only, and specifically characters that originated in games, so no 'fourth parties', Geralt being a very rare exception.
this rp still open?

Yep, fully alive, better than ever, and still accepting applications!

It was a good thing Tora wasn't afraid too, because the monsters did not hesitate. The more agile Lamias lunged at him together, forcing Tora to sweep the long blade of his Variable Saber back and forth to keep them at bay. One snaked around to the side, while the other hissed and made way for the much larger Gorlek. Before the marauding Lamia could reach Tora, Sectonia moved in to blast her with lightning, forcing her to recoil. The dusty air carries quite the electric charge after the cast, a tickling sensation each of the frontline fighters could feel. Grateful for the help, Tora braced himself to block a heavy blow from the Gorlek's pickaxe. It was at that opportune moment that Primrose's dance reached him, fortifying his sturdiness, and with her help his sword intercepted the mighty swing without issue.

He did not, however, expect the brute to reach out with his extra arms and grab hold of Tora's own. “M-meh?!” Tora started pulling free, but his physical strength lagged far behind his constitution. He looked to the left to see if anyone could give him a hand, but the Phantom Thieves looked busy with the other Lamia. While Mona ran interference, letting loose hard-hitting pellets with his slingshot, Joker seemed to be engaging the monster firsthand with the help of an abhorrent Persona—a desiccated, ghoulish monstrosity. Tora's attention quickly returned to his opponent, however, when an unknown figure dropped in from atop one of the spike-pierced buildings. Certifiably human at a glance, and a potential friend against these creatures, the stranger shouted an unknown word. No doubt he was calling his attack—a common practice where Tora came from! In that case, he need only turn the Gorlek the newcomer's way. The Nopon quit tugging and instead jumped forward, the change fast enough to catch his grapple-happy foe off guard and deliver a head bash to his three-eyed face. A quick slap with the freed Variable Saber turned it around, and with a roar the Gorlek obligingly swung his pickaxe to cave in the stranger's skull.

The fearsome blow never made contact. Moving with uncanny precision, the man wove past the Gorlek's strike and bit deep into his arms with his gleaming twin blades. The path of the newcomer's blow left him right in front of Tora, who gave a thumbs up. “Awesome! But look out!” In a pain-induced rage the formidable beast turned, its arms wounded but still operable, and charged forward. The unexpected onrush caught both Yoshitsune and Tora, sending them tumbling over the sand and onto the stone of the plaza beside Primrose. Scarcely worse for wear thanks to his own toughness and the dancer's enchantment, the Nopon rolled to his feet again with saber brandished. With the lightning-scarred Lamia by his side, the Gorlek trudged the heroes' way. “Big meanypon think he push Tora around, meh? Tora and friends quickly set straight!”

As if in response to his declaration, a trio of one-wheeled machines rounded the bend in the ruined street ahead. With their yellow eyes bent maliciously and their engines muttering growly threats, they cruised forward to join the fight. Joker dodged out of the way of the first to charge, pulling his pistol in the process, and put a bullet through the blonde Lamia's eye to bring her chapter to a close. The masked youth looked pointedly at Yoshitsune but said nothing, knowing that introductions could come later.

Mona congratulated him. “Nice shot! But check this out. Show them your might, Zorro!” His Persona appeared in a burst of blue flame, and his rapier carved a pattern into the air. A miniature, green-tinged cyclone surged forward, sweeping up the sand the remaining Roaders raced on to send the whole pile flying away.

After a pleasantly deft deflection of the remaining Lamia's swing, Tora shoved her away for Sectonia to deal with before he turned to face the Gorlek again. “Tora open baddypon up. Then friend do cool cut again, meh!” True to his word, the Nopon moved forward and launched into the air, carried by the upswing of his saber. The force of it carried him into a backflip, and as his head faced the ground, Tora twisted around to perform a horizontal cut across the Gorlek's face. Two of his eyes squeezed shut as he snarled, giving Yoshitsune a chance to strike a critical blow.

Sandswept Sky – Before the Great Barrier

As Poppi descended back to Vah Naboris, she spotted Midna and Medic on their way to the desert floor. Evidently they meant to hunt down a few dragons after all, though what exactly the somewhat macabre man of medicine planned to do with them, Poppi couldn't guess. Her keen optics got a good look at the beasts in question as she flew down. Despite sporting impressive wings keenly suited for high-speed flying, the Flygons appeared to be more at home on the ground. Among the various ruins scattered by the base of the imposing cliff lay a long-disused tent, once perhaps utilized for research or clinical purposes, but now a home for the beasts. Stealth might be difficult to come by in the desert, but Poppi thought that the two might be able to corner a dragon or two there without issue. Perhaps the tent contained treasure as well, the dragons' hoard. She made a mental note to ask later.

For now, she needed to worry about helping other teammates up to the top where she left Tora. Being apart from him never pleased her, but how much trouble could he get into by himself, really? Poppi landed on a ledge and looked up to see Necronomicon trailing behind. Flight speed didn't seem to be a strength of hers, but the same couldn't be said for Sectonia, who looked so far behind that Poppi couldn't see her at all. Maybe she elected to stay at the top? The artificial blade suppressed a sigh. Getting everyone up there would be even harder with only two fliers. She turned back to see Scout and Skull approaching, the latter no doubt anxious to join his teammates at the top. Blue Poison and Braum waited patiently in the shade, while the Heavy did not make an appearance, perhaps wanting to join his friend the doctor. Dutifully Poppi extended her hands to the dwarf and the teenager. “Hold on tight. Please keep body parts away from thrusters.”

The look on Skull's face, only partially obstructed by his mask, seemed to indicate it wasn't his body on his mind at the moment. Great. Another one. “Oh uh, sure thing, miss Poppi!” He gave a wide smile until the artificial blade grabbed hold and promptly blasted off into open air. His excited yells traced her progress as she ascended once more, soaring skyward through the buffeting wind and sand.

Edge of the Blue – Pirate's Cove

Sakura's @Zoey Boey, Junior and Kamek's @DracoLunaris, Geralt's @MULTI_MEDIA_MAN

Grateful that Sakura chose to stay, Seaplane Tender regarded the topic of names with intrigue. For all of her finery, intelligence, and fighting expertise, she could boast no more than a designation, same as the Ri-class Destroyer, and even it seldom graced the lips of her fellow high-ranked Abyssals with its unwieldy bulk. Sakura also mentioned clothes, which -unlike her underling- Seaplane Tender felt like she had a grasp on. Still, if this girl thought it was important, she could scarcely claim otherwise. What did she know, after all, of the world of civilized folk, of real people, or of life beyond the deadly sea?

Unfortunately, that also meant she didn't know France, which also meant the revelation that she sounded 'French' a particularly interesting one. “Oh...is that so? Well, I am afraid I really cannot say anything about France.” Sakura managed to turn up singular French name, Charlotte, which Seaplane Tender thought sounded nice enough. It was certainly a different beast from the short, punchy, diminutive names posited for the destroyer, which did seem to suit her. Though she didn't want to refuse Sakura's suggestion, the idea of already belonging to some kind of nationality or culture she had no knowledge of fascinated the Abyssal, and she wanted to learn more. Moreover, Sakura wanted her to do something 'cool and brave', which Seaplane Tender felt didn't include just accepting the first option that came her way. “I do like it, although I would not mind hearing more, if there are any.”

Ranger spoke up in reply to the lesser Abyssal's question. “I didn't choose mine, actually. It was given to me. Most of the time, parents name their children long before they're capable of choosing their own names.” She crossed her arms, best as she could. With these new parts it wasn't easy to get comfortable. “I don't even know what I'd choose if I could. It's easy to agonize over stuff like that. But hey, we're not talking my name.” She looked at Seaplane Tender with brows furrowed, trying to jog her memory. “There are some girls in the Navy who talk like you do, with the same sort of accent. All of them are either Iris Libre or Vichy Dominion. They have names like 'Le Triomphant', 'Émile Bertin', and Jean Barte. Stuff that's never spelled the way it sounds.” Thinking critically, she gave a nod. “Something like that. But I can't exactly come up with new ones.”

Onshore, Brineybeard faced Junior, Kamek, and Geralt as they disembarked from the Atomos and walked across the dock that passed by Shippy. The wizard flew off after the runners atop a magic broom, making the old captain shake his head in wonderment. The little Koopa, meanwhile, gave a couple confusing questions, but he answered them as best he could. “Erm, anythin' ye be wantin' ye can get at Hawker's Alley. If the stalls don't got whatcha need, jus' lay those eyes of yers on the Market Board. Independents use it, and it's got some serious magic.” He sighed just thinking about the long-gone vessels that a shipyard might have built in the day. “No shipyards 'round here, lad. Thar only be a few ships left, and they sure don't make 'em anymore. Now its just the Navy lasses, breakfast, lunch, an' dinner, if ye get what I'm sayin'.” He shrugged as if the coarse analogy couldn't be helped.

Flying around the city, Kamek spotted Bowser of all people before he spotted the unknown Bismarck, although his king's new features prompted a double take. He was at the head of a small group including Blazermate, headed across a bridge from the Aftcastle area on the upper decks into the city's central tower.

Limsa Lominscuttle Town turned out to be quite the complicated place, even with a guide in the form of Cuphead who'd been to the heroes' destination before. Its seastack structure interconnected by countless unlabeled bridges, walkways, and stairways made for a picturesque labyrinth of salt-rubbed wood and white stone through which moving down presented a far easier task than up. Nadia didn't mind in particular, wanting to see everything the fascinating maritime city had to offer, but after the second wrong turn Sephiroth prove he thought differently. With no particular attachment to the idea of staying with the group and a patience that the multi-tiered maze evidently tried, he split off and put his impressive agility to work. With leaps and bounds the lightweight swordsman utilized the many hanging ropes, and disappeared after a few seconds. “Well, see ya there, I guess!” Nadia called after him. While Blazermate could fly after him without issue, she doubted the ever-supportive medabot would leave her allies behind. Sephiroth would arrive before Bowser's team did, probably using signs and intuition to make up for his lack of city knowledge and, as best Nadia could guess, aversion to asking directions.

A couple moments later Bowser, Blazermate, and Nadia came to a stop in the Drowning Wench, a large bar occupying an entire circular section of the city's great central tower. Nadia glanced over the crowd with a smile, picturing the fun that she and few friends could get up to in here. A night of drinks, darts, telling stories, Bowser dancing around with his son, Blazermate cheerily serving tables with a cute waitress outfit, with a nice warm corner for her and Nero...blinking, Nadia flushed the picture from her mind. Where did that image come from? She focused and spotted Cuphead jumping up and down in front of a confused bartender, asking which way to the Bismarck.

Nadia breathed in the beery air. “Ahhh, man! Isn't this place the greatest! It's like, a super crazy version of Little Innsmouth. When we're done kickin' ass purr-haps we oughta come back here and kill some time. Just relax, ya know? Ooh, I wonder if there's any beaches around here?” The town probably didn't have any, but the coast she spotted from the Aetheryte Plaza looked promising. When she tried to imagine her new friends enjoying themselves, however, she couldn't help but see the face of that nice archer girl, contorted by pain. The thought quickly turned her excitement to guilt. How could she think of enjoying herself, when that literally just happened...?

“This way, guys!” Cuphead barreled off, waving to his friends as he did so. Nadia fell in behind him, glad for a little breather but ready to resume the quest to save Link, whoever that might be. Hopefully her little squad wouldn't be late.

The team's plan to leave the Drowning Wench that moment, however, went awry. A large man, deep in his cups, stirred suddenly at a table by the exit as the heroes drew near. With wide eyes he gawked at Bowser and exclaimed. “Jupiter's beard, it's a sea monster!” He staggered to his feet. “Who are ya, Jormungandr? Cthulhu? What'sa rush?” He reached out to clap a hand on Bowser's shoulder, foisting upon the Koopa King an enormous jug of wine. “C'mon, siddown with me! We gods gotta...hic! Stick together!”

Along with him rose a companion, the one who'd roused the drinker with a sharp tap in the first place. This young man, a swordsman with swept gray hair and an easy smile, circled around toward Nadia. She watched him as he approached, every inch the charmer. “Hello, hello,” he greeted. “You must be new here. I'd never forget a pretty face like that. You're in a hurry, I can tell, so I won't keep you, but perhaps you'd care to join me for a cup of tea and a chat sometime?”

Nadia couldn't stop herself chuckling. “Heheh, straight to the point, huh? Well, I've heard a lot worse ideas in bars. They serve tea here?”

Playing along good-naturedly, the man gave a polite laugh. “Goodness, no. I know a much nicer spot.” He extended his hand, which the always-chummy Nadia took to shake, only for the philanderer to kiss her knuckle instead. “I am Laslow. And you?”

“I...am going!” Nadia announced, pulling away without resistance and heading after the others. She glanced back with a grin and a wave. “See you later maybe!”

Smash City Alcamoth - Tapper's

@Dawnrider

After a little searching, Banjo and Kazooie located the white-haired duo of their quest, as well as their poetry-reading hanger-on, at a joint called Tapper's. Along with Sushi Strikers and Mona's Pizza, it formed the backbone of Alcamoth's food offerings in its commercial strip on the second level, and within they found Dante with half a pizza pie from next door and a frothing mug of root beer. The owner of the place, as well as its only apparent staff member, waved as the bear and bird made their way inside. “Root Beer?” he asked, although the menu on the wall made it clear that his establishment served far more than a single beverage. It even had real beer, as little as that meant to Banjo and Kazooie. Separate from the rest and busy studying a stoppered containment tube, V paid the newcomers no mind, leaving just Nero paying attention. He hadn't expected being sought out for questioning, but after fighting alongside the dynamic duo since they first rode into the Dead Zone, the devil hunter showed no hesitation in trying to answer.

“I only heard about it from this porter guy,” Nero told them. “He wasn't exactly the talkative type. Pretty much just said that when the body,” he paused to explain. “He was carrying a body, and when it rotted, it would summon something that could cause an explosion big enough to turn the whole place into one big crater.” Holding up his hands to signal helplessness, he struggled to conceive of such a blast himself. “I mean, even nukes don't leave giant holes in the ground. So whatever it is, it's going to be big. You'll probably see it. Just keep an eye on the sky and wait for it to light up. Once it's over with, we can head back, although...” He cleared his throat, shifting in his seat. “I'd go in expecting some kind of fallout. Nukes leave radiation that poisons the land and anyone on it. This could be worse.”

Dante polished off her root beer and wiped the foam from her lips with the back of her hand. “Ahhh! And don't forget, that teleporter thingie's gonna by gonezo, so only way back's by walkin'! I took a look at that map and phew, it's a doozie.” She leaned over and slapped Nero on the back. “Hope that friend of yours makes it out in time! Stubborn girl, huh?”

Sighing heavily, Nero grabbed a drink of his own, though root had nothing to do with it. “Yeah.”

Frozen Highlands – Ice Fields

@Gentlemanvaultboy

Leaving the alternatively curious and frightened penguins behind, along with their watery domain, the Skullgirl tugged her freshly-harvested look on the way to the village. Its wooden runners cut twin grooves, first through the sand and then through the snow, though the tumultuously cloudy sky above promised that the trail would not remain for long. She followed the path of one of the icy-cool rivers feeding fresh glacier water to the salty sea, which led her steadily southeast as it meandered through frozen forest, hill, and dale. Much of the wildlife she'd glimpsed from her lookout point on the mountain escaped her notice, or else purposefully kept away, so she made the journey in solitude and -if not for the steady tramp of her boots or the slide of her sled- in silence.

After navigating through a thick copse of conifers the Skullgirl stomped into open air, finding herself on the edge of a large field. In a more hospitable season it might have been a meadow, clad in a lovely pink and purple carpet of low-lying tundra wildflowers, but she saw only a vast plane of ice and snow. Only enormous tracks broke the mold, leading southward, where she would no doubt find the gigantic mammoth spotted earlier from high ground. The size of the tracks themselves, as well as the sheer quantity of disturbed snow, made the beast's proportions even more startling. Even the late Ender Dragon might have found the elephantine thing tough to budge. As she ventured across the open space, however, the Skullgirl began to pick up on something the ice field's pristine serenity belied. The Gammoth tracks uniformly stuck to the western side, and it took only a few steps into its counterpart to reveal why. A great, sharp, sound, alarmingly deep, shattered the silence. Before the interloper the ground began to crack, mounds of snow falling away into the frosted-over crevice. The uproarious cracking resounded continuously as a great canyon revealed itself stretching from north to south, providing a sizable obstacle in the Skullgirl's way that demanded circumvention or bold navigation.

Beyond the ice field, the smoke-eking chimney came into view, then trodden snow. After rounding a rocky hill, the village followed suit.

Before the Skullgirl lay a single street, lined with wooden cabins and brick buildings. She couldn't see any people, but every curtained window blazed with warm light, the homey sort the suggested warm fireplaces, cozy wool blankets, and mugs of cocoa. To the left she spotted a shop; to the right a diner with a name that reached out to her from two days prior, far away in an arid land. Taller than every building, like a sentinel of peace and hope against an uncertain sky, stood the tree in the middle of the town. Glistening baubles and glowing bulbs adorned its branches below a shining star. Below were piled colorfully-wrapped boxes adorned with delightful bows, their primly-tied lengths glittering with shreds of silver and gold.

In front of it all lay a sign, its handwritten greeting welcoming the cold traveler on behalf of its townfolk, nestled snugly indoors.

“Welcome to Snowdin.”
A skill that utilizes two characters is an interesting idea, but it could be a little unwieldy. You'd need to get permission to use it every time. In addition, I would advise against having a skill that only works with a single specific character. Instead, go for something more general. I don't know about Frog's canon abilities, but an example that fits the proposal you gave might be:

Dual Tech: Dual Counter - puts a targeted ally within a few meters into a special counter state. If the Target blocks an attack within a second, the attacker is stunned while Frog will zip over and deliver a reprisal.

Aerial Blade / Leap Slash would be acceptable.
@Lugubrious Do I choose my Level up gain? And only one out of the three right?

If you've got a level-upgrade, then yes, go ahead and write up a singular upgrade you'd want for Frog and then post it here for me to look at. I'll approve or offer feedback as necessary.
Just as the blanket of sleep started to settle around Sinmara's mind, irresistible in its uncontested coziness, a voice jolted her awake. The blonde from earlier, her new best friend forever, had come to her rescue! This time however, the demon girl felt justified in offering a slight correction. Even just a little engagement perked her right up, so she cracked a smile of her own as she replied. “'Sinmara' actually, with the 'N'. And I'm not really sad, see-” Yumi remained unconvinced however, and after urging her pal to quit being sad at once, offered a friendly sock to the shoulder.

It landed a little harder than normal, striking Sinmara's purple sleeve almost strongly enough to bruise. If she had been standing she might have lost her balance, but while seated on the floor she could toss out an arm to support herself easily enough. She laughed as Yumi moved in to help, her embarrassment clearly written on her face. “Bahaha! You wanna scrap that bad too, huh? Well, we'll go nuts soon as we can, but I'll get yelled at again if I get the party started in here.” Relieved of the onset of numbing boredom, she jumped to her feet and rubbed her shoulder as her great braid swung behind her. Whether she meant it or not, Yumi had sparked her to life, with everything that getting Sinmara excited entailed. “Jeez, you've got some wallop for those spindly little noodles, hahaha! Must be a superpower or something right?” She took hold of Yumi's bicep and squeezed it a little, confirming the utter lack of muscle. “I'm super jealous! I pretty much live in the gym here, and I've gotta stuff myself fulla protein every meal or I'll burn faster'n I build.” She grinned proudly as she slapped her muscled stomach. “But I'm killin' it, right? There's no challenge I can't beat!”

Remembering Yumi's concern, she smacked her own head. “Oh, duh, I forgot. 'Preciate the help and all, but I wasn't 'sad', really. Just bored. I just can't sit around not doing somethin', or I just start shuttin' down. The doctors rattle off these long medical terms, say I'm hyperactive or some such. Well, I can't help it if there's fire in my veins!” She started hopping up and down, weaving from side to side as she punched the air with wild strength. “You'll see once I start meltin' through robots! I'm dynamite. I live for the thrill of the fight! I'm a rockstar, and the battlefield's my stage!” As she hyped herself up while shadowboxing, her fists began to glow, suffused with a fiery heat. “People wish I'd sit still. I can't! I'm a live wire. A tornado of fireworks! I can't live the way everyone else does. Makes me feel dead inside. The fight's all there is. Everything else is just...filler!”

Sinmara ended her drill with a massive revolving punch. Her red-hot fist released a brilliant plume of fire into the empty air. She aimed it away from everyone else, having already cleared an area around herself by shadowboxing, but in the heat of the moment she hadn't taken any extra care to make sure the flames wouldn't lick at her classmate's hair or clothes. For a moment she held the pose, breathing a little heavier, before she relaxed her stance. She wore a look of vague satisfaction on her face that suggested, rather than happiness, that she longed for more.
On my end, I would say there's not a whole lot I can do. We've got one large, mostly empty room, without much knowledge of what lies beyond it. With the principal gone there's no mentioned staff remaining that Sinmara might interact with. The only thing that happened was the names appearing on the screen under the picture of the class's teacher, who I don't believe is present. Sinmara isn't interested in the architecture or statues. That leaves just the other students. There are ones from other classes present, but they weren't described and I don't think we have liberty to make/play them, so that just leaves other player characters. Almost all of them want nothing to do with Sinmara, which is understandable and encouraged given her characterization. Yumi might, and was indeed pointed in Sinmara's direction, but there's been no word from her. The only thing I can really do would be to either have Sinmara do an internal monologue or another daydream, or force interaction with someone who's averse to her, the latter of which isn't something Sinmara would do. In either case, although I hope this doesn't make me seem selfish, I would prefer not to force out a filler post just for the sake of it.

With no objections voiced, either from Yellow Team's de-facto leader Fox or anyone else, a plan was in place: the systematic transfer of non-fliers to the top of the ruin-crusted cliff by the fliers. Nobody voiced a desire to hunt down local spirits other than Midna, and a certain Nopon figured it might be a good time to get to know the pretty imp better. Tora quickly realized, however, that with his partner being one of the designated carriers, he wouldn't be going much of anywhere but up. As he waddled over he took a look at the spirits Primrose found, but both repelled him. “Meh, meh,” he mumbled as he allowed Poppi to pick him up and tuck him under an arm like a beach ball. “Hopefully there better goodies on other side. Team should have searched oasis for fruit and fish, meh.” But bygones must needs be bygones, and after Poppi picked up Mona and consented to Joker latching on with his grappling hook, the artificial blade spirited the three of them away. The thrusters on her feet and back sent her soaring into the sandy yellow sky, where the afternoon sunlight gleamed off her woven-metal scarf as it flapped behind her.

Before ascending, Necronomicon considered the questions offered to her. “This is fine. Good, even. My other form has no use outside the palace. So even if I could, there's no point in going back.” She seemed to take stock heroes gathered before her, despite no longer having eyes. “Erm...strength isn't exactly my forte. I can carry one person inside, and maybe more on top, but hold tight. And, uh, hold still.”

Necronomicon pitched backward, and out from her undercarriage squirmed an assortment of tentacles. They snaked through the air, two to gingerly take hold of Primrose, and the others for someone else to grab and be lifted to the flying saucer's top. As delicately as could be managed, the tentacles pulled Primrose into the ship's interior, where she found Necronomicon's warning about capacity to be well founded. The dark and metallic inside, with the bottom door closed, was little more than a single cushion surrounded by consoles and screens. Though to a dancer suddenly out of her element they appeared to be oddly tinted windows, the contents of the visions before her changed constantly in ways the ship's motion couldn't account for, and words flashed as if written and unwritten by an invisible hand. On the displays Primrose could clearly see everything Necronomicon could, supplemented by little boxes and lines of text giving extra information on the subjects. Below the screens lay what could only be strange-looking tablets covered in runes, separated into an array of particularly small ones with glowing letters on them, and a row of larger buttons shaped like a sword, shield, boot, then all three together. Between the two tablets lay a large dark disk adorned with glowing concentric circles and curious shapes only identifiable with great difficulty as the surroundings of Necronomicon herself from a top-down view. A large bar stuck out prominently beneath it, labeled 'SCAN', and on top to either side was one button apiece, each below a hinged glass cover for protection. One read 'FINAL GUARD'; the other, 'ALL-OUT ATTACK'.

“Alright, everyone, hold tight. Heeeeere...we go~!” Necronomicon began to ascend, bringing with her the two passengers. The desert sands receded further and further below as the burly sandstone blocks raced by, until after a few moments the Persona crested the top of the wall. In that moment, the screens before Primrose flashed a scene of the desert ahead, a fabulous extent of sand, rock, and ruin all the way to the foothills of the eminent Split Mountain. Just ahead, Poppi slowed down over a large circular plaza so Joker could let go, then landed to release her other passengers. Necronomicon followed suit, carefully making sure not to get too close to Sectonia if she buzzed by. “Okay, opening bay doors,” came the girl's voice. The hole in the floor through which Primrose entered slid open, allowing her to drop through into the Persona's waiting tentacles and be set down.

Once on terra firma again, Tora gave his partner a thumbs-up with his little nub hand. “Good flying, Poppi!” he congratulated. “QT Pi form really have excellent stability.”

The artificial blade shrugged. “If Masterpon say so. New center of gravity plus longer limbs take getting used to.”

“Hang on, 'Cutie Pie'?” Mona cut in, his tone questioning. He remembered what Poppi looked like at the outset of the mission. “That's what you call this look? Isn't that a little...unsubtle?”

Poppi crossed her arms, a vaguely amused expression pulling itself together across her features. “Friend cattypon hit nail on head.”

“I'm not a cat!”

Necronomicon waved a tentacle as Joker snickered. “Um, sorry to interrupt, but we should probably head back for the others, miss Poppi.” Without further conversation the fliers departed, vanishing over the edge of the great cliff to make the descent to Vah Naboris.

After a moment Tora turned his attention toward the ruins. Although the fliers could take them over, that lay outside their mission for the moment, and they didn't need to ransack their energy for a little convenience. “Looks like we not need to go underground,” he observed.

“Just a fun little romp through more ancient structures,” Mona agreed. “Hopefully there's no traps this time.”

The initial group moved forward a bit to check out the immediate area. Tora took the lead despite lacking Poppi and therefore almost all of his fighting ability, the Variable Saber brandished courageously. Before them stood rows of buildings in a state of dire disrepair, their stone surfaces scarred and metal bits polished to a brilliant sheen by the buffeting of sandstorms. The floor alternated between road and sand, over which Tora marched with impunity. The moment Joker set foot in the sand, however, he recoiled with a sharp intake of breath. Mona noticed immediately, teetering on the brink. “What? What is it?”

“This sand...” Tentatively, Joker placed his foot into it again. Immediately he withdrew it. “My MP. It's draining me.” He glanced at Tora, standing dumbly in the center of the sand trap with a worried look on his face. “Don't you...feel anything?”

Tora shook his head, that being the upmost part of his egg-shaped body. “Nuh-uh! Don't feel anything, except hot. And hungry, meh. Must not have MP.” He put his sword away and held his wings up. “Here! Tora give friends boost over sand!” The Phantom Thieves did not hesitate to use the midway Nopon to spring over the thirsty sands. The instant Joker landed on the road ahead, however, the next patch of sand ahead burst upward. From below appeared two Lamias, one with dark hair and another blonde, followed shortly by a great fiend with horns, three eyes, and four strong arms. “Uh oh!”

“Scatter!” Mona cried, and he and Joker dodged either way just as Tora arrived to join them, leaving him alone. He pulled out the Variable Saber and extended the blade, facing the monsters without fear—or at least, despite fear.

“Come on then! Tora not afraid!”

Edge of the Blue – Open Ocean

Sakura's @Zoey Boey, Junior and Kamek's @DracoLunaris, Geralt's @MULTI_MEDIA_MAN

With Sakura around, it became difficult to feel too ill at ease. She filled the belly of the Atomos with excited talk of food, listing of dish after dish to confound and astound the resident Witcher. Ranger quickly found herself wishing she could get something to as well, having the benefit of knowing -unlike Geralt- what it was that Sakura referred to. As for whether the girl would make a good teacher, Ranger couldn't say. Despite her professed age and adulthood, she did not cultivate an image of maturity, especially now that the spirit of Arashio made her shorter and softer. Not that Ranger could talk at the end of the day—she still got ID'd every time she went out for drinks and karaoke. And if these guys could spare the time, she wouldn't mind going with them. As long as she could get rid of this regrettably Abyssal material, that is.

Seaplane Tender accepted Sakura's aid with as much gratitude and grace as she could muster, although that trace of redness did not remove itself from her pale cheeks. She replaced her hat on her head and wobbled over to one of the rows of seats along the cargo bay walls, with the street fighter's help, where she seated herself in an exaggerated side-saddle position to account for her enormous tail. With her new friend insistent on sitting right beside her, that left the two rather close. “Um...pardon moi.”

Of course, Sakura then wasted no time in setting straight Ranger's fears, too, which Geralt was kind enough to corroborate by painting an alarming image. Apparently these people knew a 'biker lady', whatever that entailed, who could undo spirit fusions. Ranger sank back in her chair, her new feet clanking on the floor as she writ her relief on her face. “Oh, thank goodness...”

Out of everyone, Kamek paid the most mind to the Abyssals' concerns about Limsa Lominsa, namely the probable violent reaction the very sight of pale skin, black armor, and uncannily human teeth would arouse. No matter what it seemed like the Water Princess would have to remain on the Atomos, but what the others could do was up for discussion, which began as the airship got underway. Kamek corrected himself on the possibility of a simple outfit change before Seaplane Tender could mention her tail. Junior's suggestion, shouted back from from the cockpit, seemed even less plausible, but he rectified it with a more sound -and scary- follow-up. Having witnessed Ranger's change, and to a much lesser extent Sakura's, Seaplane Tender knew the transformative power of spirits. The idea of turning into a fish, however, chilled her to the bone even with the caveat of a defuser's cooperation. Having just been awakened to -or perhaps given- something like humanity, she felt repulsed by the idea of giving it up. “You are giving zis too much thought,” she reasoned. “I do not need to go into ze city. I'll wait here while you do your business, however long zat might be. Oh, and please, do not call me 'Your Majesty'. The Abyssal Fleet has no real royalty, and if it did, I would be nobody special. It's just my designation, 'Seaplane Tender Water Princess'...alzough, zat is a bit of a mouthful, I suppose.”

The Atomos passed within view of the Navy's rally point. Having lost all contact with the participants in the fight against the Water Princess, as well as noticed the odd disappearance and reappearance of Arashio's signal, the operators couldn't give their commanders much of an idea at all about how things turned out. The Navy itself had continued its retreating battle against the Abyssals, but quickly turned the tide after regrouping. Without their princess rallying them or any additional reinforcements, the monstrous machines attacked in vicious but disorderly fashion, and by now the shipgirls had made quick work of them. Many recognized the airship, spotted as they fell back earlier, and noted that while it sported some fresh damage it seemed not much worse for wear.

As it zoomed by in the direction, of Limsa, the girls looked to their commander. Although Prinz Heinrich ran her division with a looseness befitting her alternatively laid-back and gung-ho personality, strength radiated as much from her as it did the fearsome machine she stood upon. Heinrich shaded her eyes with a hand as she watched the Atomos go, her other hand on her hip. “Well, whatever the heck that was, it's over with now,” she observed, noting that the craft seemed to lurch in its flight a touch. “Either they blew the sucker to pieces or they turned tail. Now we've cleared out the shmucks let's get a move on. Full steam ahead!” On their leader's orders the Navy set sail, but Heinrich kept that odd flying ship in mind. “The outsiders, huh.? Admiral said keep an eye out for 'em. Guess they're tryin' to prove 'emselves after all...”

At that moment, the Ri-class Destroyer was introducing herself. Ranger never thought she'd see the day an Abyssal grunt, barely formed enough to talk and think, would be standing mere feet away doing a smarter salute than a fair few Navy girls. Seaplane Tender greeted her fellow in kind and urged her to follow Junior's directions, motioning for her to sit. The Destroyer's analysis somehow replaced the team's collective attempts to solve the problem at hand, despite her presence in fact intensifying it. In the end, as Limsa came into view and Junior guided the Atomos toward the familiar Pirate's Cove, the three Abyssals would remain behind as the majority set out in search of their allies.

When they disembarked, however, they found nobody but Brineybeard and Shippy. The retired pirate captain waved. “Ahoy, mateys! Looks like we'll be sailin' together, afore too long. Yer princess and I worked out a deal. Although, that do be a fine-looking craft too, an' able to sail the seven skies, no less...” Any further self-defeating comparisons fell away when Brineybeard received a new, unavoidable query. “The princess? She 'n that Cuppy lad went off runnin' just a few minutes ago, somethin' about a link in a restaurant. The Bismarck, I think it be. Maybe they missed lunch? Arr...”

Edge of the Blue – Limsa Lominscuttle Town – The Bismarck

With Frog's knowledge of Limsa Lominscuttle Town, accrued day by day as he labored over his commissions, finding the restaurant in question was the work of minutes. Ace Cadet and Hat Kid slid to a stop behind their amphibious ally as the open-air Bismarck's dining area came into view. A quick glance at the patrons of the establishment confirmed for the Blue Team members the presence of their friend, seated across from a sultry lady in dark purple whose back, in a stroke of profound luck, was facing them. If Link saw, however, he wisely gave no notice. So far the atmosphere of the place rained undisturbed, with the various guests enjoying their late lunches while the staff carried out their duties without impedance. Yet if one's eyes were to linger on Link for a few moments, one might get the distinct impression that he was trapped by more than societal convention, true to Cuphead's report. At the very least the bad date showed no signs of ending soon, or even progressing much at all, so it fell to the would-be interlopers to choose to make a scene in a place of fine dining, or seek another avenue of rescue. This woman clearly possessed some sort of magical power, perhaps dark in nature, implied by her outfit as clearly as her actions, so any direct confrontation would not end cleanly.

A waiter approached. "Welcome to the Bismarck," he said, treating the newcomers to a polite smile. "Party of three?"

Finding the others, as well as somewhere she could come by a real meal, sounded like a plan to Nadia. Hopefully it would do wonders for that Sephiroth's mood as well, thereby indicating that this spell of sardonic aloofness was nothing more than a sort of appetite-induced grumpiness. But she wasn't going to hold her breath.

Scarcely did the four set out on their journey through the crowded Aetheryte Plaza than a commotion from the bustling Hawker's Alley make Nadia's ears twitch. She listened for a moment to the pounding of feed, the sharp intake of breath, and the protests of civilians. “Hey.” She poked Bowser's side. “Sounds like someone's comin' from that way, and in a real hurry too!”

After a moment her prediction became reality, and from the throng within shaded market avenue burst none other than Cuphead and Princess Peach. Nadia, put her hands up, smirking. “Well hey, that was easy.” Of course, she didn't need to say that things wouldn't be that simple.

Peach saw her -actually, the far more distinct Bowser- a moment later, and paused in her mad dash. “Oh. Hello!” She looked at Nadia with a semblance of recognition, since they had at least seen each other, but had only curiosity for Sephiroth. Or maybe not...what was that oddly inquisitive look that possessed her for a split second? Regardless, Peach called out to them. “What are you doing here?” She shook her head and held up a hand to forestall any reply. “Later. Come on!” The new arrivals fell in with her, with Bowser's bulk and lumbering stride quickly parting the crowd for them as they left the Aetheryte Plaza. A fascinated Shantae, back from break and ready for a new dance, watched them go with narrowed eyes.

“We lost Link,” Peach explained as she ran, although that meant nothing to Nadia. For royalty Peach seemed to be in very good shape, well beyond that that her fusion alone could reasonably explain. Nadia figured she better listen. “But Cuphead spotted him with some woman at a restaurant, controlling him or something. We're going to save him.”

Although she accepted the task of a gallant rescue without question, another word stuck in her mind. Despite her quick bowl of ramen she still felt hungry, as if the salty noodles only whetted her appetite. “Restaurant? Purr-fect!”

“The others are ahead of us,” Cuphead piped up. He was ahead of everyone else, but his head swiveled around to face them. “By the time we get there, it might be done with.”

That sounded just fine as far as Nadia was concerned, but should push come to shove, she would be happened to lend a paw to this friend of Peach's. Do a good dead, eat some good food, just like the old days. Nadia found herself forced to push away wistful memories, quickened in her mind by familiar sounds and smells from days long gone.

Frozen Highlands - Dragonspine Mountain

@Gentlemanvaultboy

With the great mountain at her back, the Skullgirl began her journey into the land of snow, the distant trace of civilization pictured in her mind. Spurred on perhaps by images of oaken-log cabins, roaring fireplaces, trophy-lined mantles, and toasty mugs, she scrabbled down a precarious mountain path in the direction of the village, but the region's wildlife quickly caught her eye. Whether or not the Tateru was a people or pokemon it didn't respond, but the Skullgirl quickly found her scent picked up by creatures far keener for interaction. The savage wolves approached with fangs bared, their crimson eyes cruel, but whether they attacked out of hunger or hatred -hatred for the unnatural thing before them- they did not hesitate.

The Skullgirl unleashed various elements from her varied skillset, dispatching beast after beast with ease. Remarkable ease, even. When she called forth a crystalline spire of icy spikes to impale one, it exerted not the slightest tax on her body. She could do it all day and all night, if need be, but the pack had not been a larger one. For a few moments she stood among the ashes, arguing with the voices in her head. When she started her boots crunching snow once again she strode northward from the mess of tracks, and the village receded further into the distance behind her.

How much time went by she couldn't say, but it didn't feel like long before she stood on the shore of a frigid sea. Icebergs drifted around the dark water, where various lazy seals lounged, and a few vigorous ones jousted with crabs upon their backs. Much closer waddled penguins in great numbers, squawking uproariously as they went about their business. From here the Skullgirl could see the sleek, futuristic tower floating above the ocean a fair way out, but the column of light fell on the shore. It lay on a similarly technological device about as tall as a horse, which gave no response if approached. A press on its sides would prompt its panels to open up, revealing a cache within: a neatly sealed steak and potato meal, two pokeballs, a set of materials and instructions to build a log sled, and a loot box. If deprived of contents, the beacon went dark and folded up after a short delay, becoming little more than a chunk of inert metals.
@Lugubrious Hey, dude, this looks interesting, can I get some help with my CS in PMs?
