Bio
Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.
Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.
@Lugubrious Laharl grabbed both spirits and is taking them as strikers.
EDIT: I hope that isn't a problem. let me know if it is.
Keep in mind that I didn't speak for everyone when I say my characters didn't want them. Either way, I probably should have mentioned this sooner, but it is a problem because Laharl doesn't know what spirits are or how they work. He wouldn't know how to take them as Strikers. He would have to be told how first.
Tora would have been interested in one as a potential Mech Arms upgrade if he'd been fully cognizant, but he fell asleep before he could claim one, that's a pass from my characters.
Notable spirit consumed: Count Bleck The host has gotten a bit smaller. She’s now wearing a golden-buttoned, white tuxedo vest on her torso and her heart crystal is more of a brooch, with silver encasing that extends around her neck. Her crown is now a fanciful crown ring around a short white top hat, with holes for her antennae. Though impossible to see normally, she can open a wide, jagged red mouth, and the very centers of her eyes glow a burning red. Her wrought-hold wings now have a wing membrane on the back, which is white on the outside and a purple spatial pattern on the inside. They can fold up like a cape when not in use, and she can float without having to use them. Her collar also stands up more. The host has become more polite and charismatic, simultaneously caring deeply and being forgiving toward allies while hatefully viewing enemies as worthless, even if wearing a smile. This spirit confers the Power Dark Globule, allowing the host to cast a tenebrous magic spell that cannot be blocked. It also confers the Weakness Defense Down, increasing damage taken by 15%
The remaining heroes refocused around the primary machine after a few of their number took their lumps. Sectonia electrocuted the Goliath with a spray of lightning before ducking away into a house under the assumption that the others would keep its aggression focused on them. Although the designated tank certainly tried, the stubborn machine managed to seize and hurl a lightpost of twisted black licorice her way. “Secty!” Tora cried out, seeing the makeshift projectile vanish into the building. He slammed the cakey ground with the Mech Arms to launch himself into the air, and as he fell swung wildly to deliver an unignorable flurry of punches. Multicolored light shone from inside the house, but Tora needed all his attention on the foe before him.
Poppi projected an ether barrier to fortify his defense as the Goliath brought down its fist, burying him up to his belly button in the soft ground, but Tora held firm. That helped to give Yoshitsune and Red the opportunity they needed. The mercenary charged into action, and though her axe failed to pierce the machine’s leg as she flew past, the bullets she hammered into the joint right after mangled the metal. With a rumble it turned to try and crush her, moving its arm straight into the path of Yoshitsune’s Kamui. Although he targeted a limb with an untouched joint rather than the one Red softened up for him, he nevertheless managed to steer his katana straight between two of the moving parts with perfect accuracy.
At the end of the day, however, he was a man with unremarkable physical strength trying to slice through solid alloy from a time ten thousand years removed from his own with a katana. Yoshitsune’s blade wedged in the mechanism and was yanked from his hands as the Goliath moved on, unphased. The katana managed to jam the joint for all of a moment before the stress shattered it, sending razor-sharp shards over a wide area, and the machine moved to punch Red.
Tora grunted in anger. “Mean robot shouldn’t keep ignoring Tora!” He flipped open the Mech Arms’ silos and fired off a volley of missiles that exploded against the Goliath’s body. Up above, the Scout swung out from under Necronomicon with an exhilarated yell to land on top of the robot. He drove his pickaxe into its head, tore it off, and started unloading his assault rifle down its neck.
The sound of footsteps came from behind Red as Fox and Joker moved in, Arsene floating behind him. “Stop trying to cut metal! Use blunt or piercing!” the Thief shouted. After Fox zoomed in to impart a meaty explosive-enhanced kick to its damaged joint, and let off a few parting shots for good measure, Joker went low to slide under the Goliath’s fist and into its leg. He stuck his grappling hook through one of the bullet holes that Red left there. Arsene then raised his leg and with another strong kick finally bent the brutalized knee joint backwards. Covered by the Heavy as his minigun turned the Goliath’s torso into swiss cheese, Joker jumped back and along with Arsene took the grapple line in both hands. They pulled together, wrenching the machine’s leg out from underneath it.
Only the blazing rocket on its back prevented it toppling over, but when he realized what was going on Tora had an idea. “Poppi time to shine!” he called, tossing the Mech Arms to the artificial blade. She grabbed them with a nod and boosted into the air. “Target back rocket, aim for fuel tanks!” He watched his companion soar into position and let loose a handful of missiles. The inventor’s intuition turned out to be correct as a huge explosion went off, the Scout went flying with his behind on fire, and the next moment the Goliath crashed face-down into the dirt among the other heroes, its back totally stripped of armor plating. “Meanie robot down, easy pickings now!” Tora sang, only to get slapped by one of the Goliath’s still very functional arms. As he rolled off and Poppi went after him, it fell to the others to finish it off, and both the Heavy and Braum certainly didn’t wait to start pummeling away.
Meanwhile, the other fight had also taken a turn. First to come to the aid of the Phantom Thieves was not an ally, but the very trapped bystander their adversary inadvertently freed. Despite his size the boy dealt a weighty blow to the ensnared Goliath that cratered a portion of its torso. The machine was knocked to the side, which both diverted the barrage from its gun and yanked Panther’s whip hard enough to throw both her and Skull to the ground. With its owner’s grip broken, the length of leather fell from the Goliath’s knees and into the flan pavement alongside the Thieves. Laharl’s intervention put a wrench in Primrose’s plan as well, causing her to waste a spell. When the machine came about with both hands raised to smash the boy in between them, however, the Dancer did not hesitate to follow up with a second that struck her foe dead-center and prevented Laharl getting pancaked. After arriving with a burst of damage from the other fight, Fox produced his reflector to spare the downed Thieves the robot’s leftover projectiles and instead return them to sender.
Midna wove through the danger zone with her Vibrava carrier’s help and found a perfect opportunity. She raked her target with Dragon Claw before extending a twilight shroud. Arcs of sunset-orange electricity suffused the Goliath’s many heads, and an instant later the Vibrava blitzed through them all in a blur of darkly flashing fangs. In a shower of sparks it lurched, disabled but not quite dead, and free for anyone to get a few hits in.
Seeing his opportunity, Mona struck a courageous pose. “That’s it! It’s time for an All-out Attack!”
Having already emptied his shotgun into the thing, Skull groaned. “Maaan, we’re effin’ gassed. Can’t you do something?”
“Hey, I’m tired too!” the cat protested, but at his command Zorro whipped up a wind to throw him into the air. Mona soared above the battle, silhouetted against the moon, and transformed onto a car that unceremoniously dropped onto the Goliath from above, horn blaring. A tremendous crash resounded across Parnasse as the machine’s legs flew sideways and its crumpled body sank halfway into the ground. The car remained stuck, nose down, in the wreckage for a moment before he turned back in a puff of smoke. “Ow, ow, ow!” He stumbled around dizzily before plopping onto his back. “Owww….I am NEVER pulling that again.”
He looked up to see Skull and Panther standing over him, with the boy giving a thumbs-up. “Hey, it was super cool though!” Panther picked the cat up and held him under her arm, which seemed to work wonders for his spirits. When they looked over they saw the other fight just about over as well. After just a little tidying up, the heroes were left with a quiet if someone roughed-up town and two Goliath spirits.
Party: Primrose, Fox, Sectonia, Midna, Yoshitsune, Red, Laharl, Tora and Poppi Encounter Reward: +5 EXP Additional Rewards:Two Goliath spirits, refuge in Parnasse, local expertise, the fates of Crow, Peacock, and Sly Cooper
The team consolidated after a few moments, gathered in the center of town beneath where the fairy’s empty cage hung. The fairy herself floated nearby with an upbeat smile, a half-eaten brick of chocolate under her arm. Having also been freed from their imprisonment, the chocolate tiger and rabbit took a moment to thank the heroes for helping them, and to offer them shelter in any of the vacant houses in their humble town of Parnasse. Pretty much nobody could deny the weight of fatigue pressing down on them, and on behalf of the general welfare Joker accepted the offer. The townsfolk returned to their homes, leaving everyone to their business.
Although things had gone well, Blue Poison looked annoyed. “I accomplished nothing,” she criticized herself, arms crossed. “That thing didn’t even notice my bolts.”
“Don’t beat yerself up, lassie,” the Scout told her. “Robots don’t care about poison, and that ‘un ate ‘eadshots like candy!”
Tora took in the general chatter, but looked like he was about to fall asleep where he stood. “Meh…” He flopped down onto his back, eyes closed, but opened one to see Poppi standing over him in QT Pi mode. “Take body back...to Torigoth…”
“No need be so dramatic, Masterpon,” Poppi smiled. She bent down to scoop him up and found that he’d really drifted off. She laughed softly, and with him cradled in her arms glanced around at the others. “Poppi not need sleep, so Poppi take watch. Everyone have good night.” With a polite bow of her head she headed for one of the destroyed homes and into the mercifully spared bedroom to deposit the sleeping Nopon within.
As soon as Bowser’s grasp closed around it, the Herlmaroc King screeched and commenced its struggle. With wild strength it rained down painful pecks on Bowser, aimed for his mouth and eyes. That combined with its thrashes, powerful enough to rock the entire Atomos, meant he couldn’t hold it for long, but the Koopa King’s grip held firm long enough for his friends to put their plans into action. Sakura moved first, releasing her hold on a flustered Bella to deliver a high-flying series of attacks before she landed to keep the pain train rolling. Geralt climbed on, working his way upward across the beast’s feathered body with his iron grip and steel dagger. He called out for his comrades to help the desperate situation aboard Shippy, then began his assault.
The moment he first plunged his blade into the bird’s body, it recoiled with such force that it wrenched free from Bowser and soared away, the Witcher holding tight. Its shrieks filled the air as it flew, its unwelcome guest burying his silver sword again and again, but for all its power the Helmaroc couldn’t get rid of the pest. As Geralt kept it up, he noticed after a couple less-than-perfect yanks that a twist of the embedded blade would cause the Helmaroc to veer in the same direction. Far above the naval battle and even the seaplane dogfights, the Helmaroc’s lunatic flight continued, with only the Midway Princess’s bomber fleet occupying the seaside heights.
As Peach sped off, Nadia retreated back toward the center of the deck to avoid the bullets and shells that whizzed above. Hold out ‘til then, her mind echoed as she looked left and right with frantic speed for any incoming threats. Her objective was no longer to fight, but to survive. Although no stranger to survival, Nadia never would have imagined a nightmare like this. Blazermate and Frog had gone below, so with Peach and Hatty gone, Brineybeard holed up, the Atomos and Navy a ways off, and poor Chao Hu dead, Nadia was completely and utterly alone. Alone, on the splintering deck of a sinking ship in waters infested by far worse things than sharks.
The bruises, burns, and bullet holes across her back and limbs hurt terribly. Her chest ached from the strain of her lungs and heart, obliged to work overtime without so much as a hint of pay. Her wide, searching eyes found a new explosion of flame or wood every other second, chipping away at the doomed ship with terrifying speed. And like an approaching storm, the tide of bombers swept ever closer. Survive? What a joke. It was so comically hopeless that she couldn’t help but laugh. “Nya...haha...hahaa..hahaha! Ohhh, crumbs. At least this can’t get any worse!”
A coating of green magic surrounded the ship. Nadia’s jaw dropped. Had she really just tempted fate!? But rather than annihilate her on the spot the sorcery seemed to take the form of a barrier, as if it were holding Shippy together. Her harrowed gaze turned upward to see one of Kamek’s clones, harried by a few stray Abyssal seaplanes but otherwise unnoticed by the enemy. More magicked magikoopas swooped in behind him, each carrying something bright. Her heart dared to beat again. “Over here! Help!” And help the clones did, by swooping down to implant their collected spirits into the ship itself.
Prismatic light shone across the surface of the Black Bay, blanketing Shippy in her entirety. Abyssals gawked at it in confusion as their shots pinged harmlessly off the radiant aura, and the shipgirls put the heads on their shoulders to use taking advantage of the distraction to get a few hits in. Nadia’s bewilderment, however, quickly turned to panic as the ship began to change beneath her feet. All around the edges of the ship closed in, and a layer of metal spread over the wood. To the feral’s horror the deck descended toward the ocean’s surface, bringing her even closer to the deadly waters, and fear for those below deck filled her. Were they going to be crushed? Drowned? In the span of a few moments, Shippy shrank from the size of a respectable pirate ship to little bigger than a sloop, her deck only a few dozen feet across and her ankle-high railing practically a suggestion. And everything was dilapidated to hell, having sustained the damage inflicted before the change. Nadia clutched her head and hunkered down as a shell exploded against the mast, toppling it over. How was this an improvement!?
Before she could despair too deeply, Blazermate’s Friend Heart took hold. With a bright flash, Shippy’s catastrophic damage popped like a burst soap bubble, and the boat was restored. The mast stood tall as if it had never fallen, its stringy black sails flapping in the wind. Shiny metal armor covered the deck, thin but whole, and to Nadia’s delight she found four cannon emplacements. She remained alone and sorely wounded, but now she had a chance, and she wasn’t about to question this blessing. Brineybeard stumbled out of hiding, his flabbergasted wonderment etched on his features. “...Blow me down! What the hell happened?”
Nadia couldn’t say she knew well enough to explain herself, but someone else beat her to the punch. In reply came a loud voice, female but backed by the bassy creak and moan of timber. “Captain? I am awake.” The brand-new, very realistic figurehead of the ship twisted around to look back at the pair above decks. All around, the Abyssals resumed their assault. When the figurehead winced, Nadia realized that it must be Shippy herself, but the new being did not waver, and focused on Brineybeard with absolute trust in her eyes. “What are your orders?”
Brineybeard clenched his jaw. Thinking could come later; the time for action was now. “We can’t waste this chance!” he roared, climbing up to the helm. “Make for the river on the shore! Full speed ahead!”
“Aye-aye, captain!” The ship, dead in the water until moments ago, began to move. Though the Abyssals trying to bite into the metal armor found tougher resistance, the ones barraging it quickly began racking up damage. Nadia eyed the new ordinance, wondering why they weren’t firing, but Shippy spoke up. “There’s some sort of cloud over my mind preventing me from fighting,” she reported. “I’m afraid you must man my cannons yourselves for now. And there’s...ugh!”
Roiling pain in the hold caused her to shudder. With a violent lurch Shippy ejected its contents into the water through her original mouth, and her figurehead looked down to see a mix of Abyssals, Abyssals turned undead monstrosities, and friendlies. “Guh...men...men overboard!” she warned weakly, one eye closed from the pain of a bombardment to her starboard side.
Spirit absorbed: Light Cruiser Tsu-Class The host has gotten a bit taller, thinner, and paler, with his clothing modified to be darker and expose his midriff. He’s gained a non-integrated black metal helmet with a lining of teeth on the front edge, like an upper jaw. He’s also gotten enormous gauntlets reaching halfway up his arms with built-in cannons, one double-barreled battery per gauntlet, and very large gloves. Beneath the gloves his hands and forearms are also bigger, but not to the extent they fill the equipment, with tactical padding making up the difference. Personality is not much affected, with just a little extra aggression. This spirit confers the Power Made in Abyss, granting a propulsion system inferior to that of the shipgirls that also works underwater, as well as greatly enhanced breath-holding, water pressure resistance, underwater sight, and water resistance annulment. This spirit also confers the Weakness Never to Port, decreasing speed and stability out of the water
You have acquired: Imp's Torn Ornament - a light, highly durable bauble that a vendor would probably buy at a good price
You have Acquired: Shark Knit - a nice hat with no special properties Dark Steel Ingot x2 - a useful metal that’s stronger and more durable than steel Rebreather - a face mask that recycles the air exhaled by the user, replenishing it in the process to extend the usage of a limited oxygen supply. Comes with oxygen but will run out unless hooked up to a tank
Already seated at one cannon battery, Nadia looked up from her attempt to grasp the controls as fast as she could. She leaped to her feet when she heard that her friends were in the drink and dashed to the front of the ship, terrified that she would look down to see a feeding frenzy. Instead she saw Cadet, Blazermate, Frog, and Link(?) below the surface alongside a smattering of Abyssals. She exhaled her pent-up breath in relief, but the fact remained that she couldn’t do much to help them. If she jumped down she would only add to the problem, and even if her muscle fibers she had no idea if she’d be strong enough to pull any aboard. Then she noticed the hanging life preservers, and with a flash of her claws cut them loose. The inflatable rings fell into the water, hopefully to be of some use. As they splashed down she spotted Abyssals closing in, eager to devour the hapless prey fall into their clutches.
Clenching her teeth, she jumped back over to the cannon battery. If she trusted that her allies were able to escape their current predicament, she just needed to keep the monsters off their backs so she could. The mechanisms in place made using the thing easy, so it was with a devilish grin that Nadia took aim at the bloodthirsty Abyssals. “Eat this!” She slammed down the trigger and blasted away. Taking turns to fire in a constant sequence, the cannons blew the Abyssals out of the water and into ashen chunks. “Nyahahahah!” Nadia unleashed all her stress as she relentlessly pounded them. Any that turned their sights on her got singled out first, rewarded for their attentiveness with solid metal slugs and a swift end. Still, Nadia was just one woman, and three unmanned batteries meant that plenty of pain continued to come Shippy’s way. Plus, being on the starboard side meant that any monsters coming at her friends from the ship’s left had free reign.
That was, except for a certain shipgirl. The Abyssals that rushed the ejected Seekers from the left found that there were worse monsters than themselves in these waters when Heinrich plowed through their ranks, catching a handful of the monsters in the serrated jaws of her mecha-shark before it snapped shut like a vice. “Graahahaaa!” she crowed as she surfed around for another pass, her eyes blazing even brighter than the cannons on her shark’s back. She faced in the direction of the beleaguered heroes and thrust her fist into the air. “As long as you’re alive, you can still kick some ass! Fight like you’re gettin’ paid for it!”
“The bombers!” Brineybeard yelled, steering Shippy to the left so that Nadia could cover the swimming heroes better. He pointed a finger upward to where the Midway Princess’s fleet would soon be able to start dive-bombing. “They be gettin’ close!”
“Oh?” Heinrich looked up to see the bombers halfway across the bay. Her shark chomped into a snarling To-class, and she leaped into the air as it did a corkscrew death roll to tear the Abyssal apart. When she landed she cast her hand toward the swarm and yelled into her radio. “Calling all hands for saturation fire! Light ‘em up, girls!”
“Yes, ma’am!” Came a chorus of voices in reply. All around the shipgirls of Heinrich’s division sped up and turned their weapons from their current foes to the bombers. A fusillade of missiles, bullets, and explosive shells hurled skyward in a remarkable display, filling the air with such a quantity of fire that a great many bombers were hit. Some of those that exploded sparked chain reactions, clearing out entire swathes of the swarm. The volley ended a moment later as the ships returned to their own problems, but the sight convinced Nadia of one thing. They didn’t abandon us! They just kept their distance! Better yet, a quick look at the bay suggested that the Navy was actually pushing the Abyssal Fleet back towards their bases. Filled with adrenaline, the feral kept up her own bombardment. Abyssal shots and seaplane attacks fell upon her, but she powered through. If she could just see her friends safely back aboard to resume healing or man the cannons, maybe, just maybe, they could make it through.
For a fortune-seeking, glory-hungry go-getter, the adventure never ended, but it paid to take a break now and again. And after trekking a long way, watching the sun set over the immense windmill that stood between him and what every map in Limsa said would be the gorgeous Luma Pools, and spending the night in the village of the hospitable and playful Moki that took uncommon delight in his jokes, Mirage had finally reached vacation central.
And even though the various descriptions he’d heard of the Luma Pools flattered the place, he quickly found that they did not pay this lush forest justice. He’d set out first thing in the morning with an agreeable Moki companion, headed to the Pools herself for some prime fishing. The early sunlight had made the misty scarlet hills beyond the windmill a scene of breathtaking splendor, and as he descended along the river to the Luma Pools the trees and waterfalls just got more and more impressive. A spell of hiking through the pleasantly cool forest of curving trees with broad pink leaves took him past fluffy lemurs and crested gibbons at play near boughs laden with fruit. Finally, between two waterfalls overlooking a lake, in a clearing amid the towering trees he found his own little piece of paradise.
The sight seemed to make the cheery Moki happy, even though she must have seen it a dozen times already. “What do you think? Didn’t I say it would be lovely? So lovely.” She splashed around in the crystal-clear water for a moment before heading toward the cliff. “Have fun, you!” A moment later Mirage was alone, with just the tropical birds and lazy bumblebees for company. In this spot the adventurer could relax in the shade and at his leisure look out across the Luma Pools. The waterfall below him emptied into a sizeable, roughly oval-shaped lake teeming with fishes and corals. On the opposite shore serpentine creatures extended from their holes to wiggle about. On either side of the lake, a river extended to wind through the picturesque pools toward the ocean. Birdsong and the low roar of water filled the air. All in all, it was a wonderful getaway from commissions work, well worth the cost of the planning and supplies to make it out here. The only sour note was a continuous noise, barely audible over the sound of water and difficult to identify, reaching a few miles from the coast where the left-hand river emptied into the sea.
Although feeling a little embarrassed that Linkle continued to attend his well-being, Albedo agreed with her suggestion. A bite of something warm would do wonders to chase out the cold that had settled in his extremities. He looked over to address the bartender, but the astute gentleman had already retreated to prepare a suitable dish, so that left the alchemist with little to do but watch Linkle take interest in the television. Although it represented no more than a novelty to him and in the end a distraction from his research, he could see how someone would be fascinated by the concept.
However, his guess proved only partially right, since it turned out to evoke the memory of a lost ally. Albedo’s face grew serious as she tapped the buttons. One caused the screen to suddenly activate, and the image of a woman with a knife appeared in black and white. He froze, eyes wide, as the unsettling sight and bizarre music struck him. Luckily, Linkle didn’t seem overtaken by either fear or melancholy, and after dealing with the device, instead mentioned someone else putting her lost friend into a machine like this. Such an idea confused the boy, but he shelved that revelation when his new friend prompted him with a question. It was a heavy one, but hardly unexpected; if anything, he would have thought the matter might come up after his earlier demonstration. Could he bring someone back to life?
Despite his forethought it still wasn’t an easy question to answer, so he thought about it. For many such a feat would be not just a monumental achievement but a lifetime goal, but rather than for an accomplishment like that he aimed to learn about the truth in that world. And yet, in the course of his studies, had he not discerned a method by which the impossible could be made possible? The nature of spirits in this world simplified things, after all. So after some consideration, he looked at the Skullgirl square in her unsettling eyes and in a confidential tone told her, “Theoretically, yes.”
He then produced his sketchbook and rifled through it, adding, “Of course, there are some caveats. It starts with dust, requiring a copious amount from creatures similar enough to the one I would want to revive. Then to craft the body I need more expertise with biology than I currently possess. Then I would be able to create life, as I have before. But so far I have only created simple creatures, not meant to stick around, and without their own wills. If they have any behavior, it’s an effect of the ingredients of creation, like baking a flavor into food. For this to work I would need to make a homunculus. A fully functioning body of the same species as the subject, but completely devoid of character. So that when the spirit is applied to the vessel, its transformative power its totally unhindered, and the vessel is shaped exactly to the specifications of the data within the spirit.” He spoke with a sort of determination, as if defining for the first time a process that he hadn’t dared to before, for his own sake as well as Linkle’s.“
With crossed arms, he continued to add caveats. “Naturally, this is only theory. I’d like to say it’s sound theory, but its neither practiced nor proved. And I doubt I would get it right on the first try. Purity of the ashes, aiming for the quintessential qualities shared by them and the subject, and purity of the vessel, aiming for quintessential emptiness, are paramount. The ashes remember their past spirits, after all. Like paper that’s been drawn on, erased, and then drawn over again. Traces of the broad strokes remain. If either purity is off, there may be side effects. Lingering traits, or...or memories, even. So deeply intrinsic to the result that the contamination would be impossible to undo.”
If he had anything else to say, he fell silent as the bartender arrived with two boxes. Albedo peered inside and saw a mixture of noodles, vegetables, rice, and thin cuts of meat. He felt bad about the possibility of Linkle not being able to eat, but he pushed one bowl her way nonetheless. For a moment after taking his own into his hands, he allowed the warmth to sink in, and gave a relieved sigh as the chill bled away. Then he took hold of the utensils offered to him: a pair of thin, connected sticks. “Oh, like in Liyue and Inazuma,” he remarked. “I’ve been once or twice apiece, but I never quite got the hang of these. I hope I’ll have the appetite for all this...” Nevertheless, he tried his luck, and he relished the spicy flavor of the food.
After a few leisurely mouthfuls, he paused to wrap around to something the Skullgirl said earlier. “By the way...you mentioned being dead, and seeing other dead enemies. Maybe this is too personal, but did you really die to become the way that you are? Did you see any enemies die? I’ve encountered a few ‘living dead’, but it seems as though it’s just their state of being. So maybe ‘dead’ isn’t the right word, but I don’t know what I would call them, since ‘not-dead’ would mean alive, wouldn’t it?” He shrugged. Anyway, I would be surprised to hear if you did, since you spoke of resurrection as if it were an exotic concept.”
Insistent rays of sunlight together with the gentle roll of foamy waves against the shore conspired to awaken Sephiroth from her stupor at last. She blearily blinked awake to find herself laying against a grass-topped knoll of sand, her rigging piled beside her. Around her, the expansive beach was empty except for a large, mostly buried creature. Though big, it didn’t do anything but look around, and appeared to be no cause for concern. Here and there were crabs, seabirds, tufts of grass, and discarded shells. Apart from the buried creature, things were normal. Peaceful, even.
Inside Sephiroth it was another story. The pleasant scene stood in such stark contrast to the horrors that flashed in her mind that she couldn’t help but wonder if the events of last night were just a nightmare after all, but no. Her hair and clothes were filthy and damaged. Scars littered her skin. Her hat was gone, and one of the arms of her rigging ended in a torn-off nub of metal rather than a cannon battery. But there were no bloodsuckers around her, no miasma, no derisive laughter or careless whispers. Just her. She must have staggered here during the night and passed out, and at the very least she did feel a little rested. All that remained, then, was where to go from here. She was disheveled, injured, a little loopy, and...thirsty.
In only a few moments, Tungsten's magic proved its worth, and before Mae's eyes Lady Faetalis regained her senses. She took stock of the situation even before her faculties fully kicked in, after which she removed herself from her underling's grip with as much dignity and haste as she could simultaneously manage. If Mae had a face, she would have cracked an appreciative smile. Even in such dire circumstances as these, the conscientious Supreme One was kind enough to offer her underlings a less-than-perfect composure, to let them know they weren't alone in their uneasiness. That supposition faded when Faetalis began to speak, replaced by attentiveness. Cormac's arrival created a momentary interruption, but Faetalis recovered and quickly worked to address the general concerns. In doing so she dropped a nugget of information that took Mae alone by surprise.
"We did?" Mae murmured to herself in the allotted moment of silence. She did not question her superior's declaration, of course, and in fact accepted it out of hand given the limited range of her Blindsight. Rather, it was a lot to take in. If the guild had been displaced, that meant no supply lines. No certain ways of getting the resources to make repairs or the goods that a repaired kitchen would need to function. Would they have to explore this new world? Mae couldn't conceive of a worse job for her inferior senses. Blindsight allowed her to perceive every inch of her kitchen in glorious detail, but anything beyond her effective range was as good as nonexistent.
Shaking herself, Mae put aside her concerns. This wasn't the time to go nuts over logistics. One after another, the overseers gave their reports, and with each one the headless chef grew more uneasy. When her turn came around, Mae gave a guttural cough and launched into her own report with as much vigor as she could muster. "Well, uh...AHEUGHM. The Gorging Trough's messed up six ways from Sunday, ma'am! All staff's accounted for, but we were in full swing when things kicked off, and we everythin' caught on fire. Don't know what'll be left when it burns itself out, but it sure won't be much. So uh, basically, we got squat for food 'n equipment. 'Course, I got my Master Chef skill, so I can whip up anythin' on my own if I get the ingredients 'n a pot or somethin'. And fire, though I guess I got plenty o' that, huhuh..." Angry at herself for making light of her failure, she rocked back and forth on her feet. Well, she's made her excuses, so there was left to do but take responsibility. "Er...my apologies, ma'am. It'll be a while before the ol' Trough's up and runnin' again, I'm afraid. Real sorry situation." Although the others had offered, she didn't dare hurt her pride further by asking for their help.
Name: Yuri Kozukata Game Origin:Fatal Frame 5: Maiden of Black Water
Personality: No one would ever mistake Yuri for being the life of a party. She's quiet, her reactions understated, giving off a constant air of anxiety. She's politely friendly but tries to keep a safe distance from people. Despite this she is not cold. She is intimately familiar with the pain of loss and possesses an empathy as deep as the abyss. As such she's always found it hard to ignore other peoples problems. It gives her the courage to face death, over and over again, and move past it because no matter how afraid she is she knows nothing is more frightening than losing someone.
Background: Yuri lives with one foot in the afterlife. Ever since her family was killed in tragic car accident she had been able to see things that other people just can't. The doctors all assured her that these visions of spirits and death were figments of her imagination, and for a time she tried so hard to believe them. To believe that she wasn't sick. But she kept seeing them, even after she was given a clean bill of health they kept appearing to her. Kept hounding her everywhere she went. All the while she felt a pull, and inexplicable urge to climb a certain local mountain. With no one to stop her, no one to help her, no one that could possibly understand, she followed it. Up the slopes of Mt. Hikami, to the edge of a lonely cliff. To end it.
Before she could, though, she felt herself being pulled back. A woman named Hisoka Kurosawa, a woman she didn't even know, had come to find her. She wrapped her arms around Yuri's shoulders and asked her to stay just a little while longer. It was such a little thing. She had never really noticed just what a difference a little warmth could make. She could stay if it was for this woman, who took her in when she had no one and treated her with such kindness. Just a little longer became longer and longer, and eventually Yuri could barely feel the call of the mountain anymore. She spent her days with Hisoka, learning how to prepare coffee at her antique shop and how to use her powers to tell fortunes and help find the things people had lost.
Then, one day, Hisoka disappeared. It wasn't that unusual, she did that once in a while when she was working on a case, but then her client, Fuyuhi Himano, showed up at the antique shop looking or her. Hisoka had gone to Mt. Hikami in search of Fuyuhi's friend, and after a moment to gather her thoughts Yuri followed after them.
The mountain was infested with ghosts, and as she searched day after day Yuri was more and more immersed in the mountains blood soaked history, the pain of the tragedies that had transpired there, and the mystery of the strange rituals meant to appease something called the Shadow Spring. She lost Fuyuhi to the mountain, but managed to save her friend Haruka. She lost Haruka, who was lured back to the mountain under the influence of Fuyuhi's ghost, but managed to rescue a girl name Miu from a water filled casket. Multiple times she encountered a powerful, raven-haired spirit, and was saved from the spirits influence by Miu.
Eventually, she fought her way to the shrine situated on the very top of the mountain. There she found Hisoka, prepared to willing become a sacrifice so the mountain wouldn't eventually take Yuri. Unwavering, Yuri managed to pull Hisoka away from the edge and the two of them returned from the Mountain together. That should have been the end of it, but there was one last thing Yuri felt she had to do. One last girl suffered alone on Mt. Hikami and, armed with everything she had learned, Yuri ascended the mountain one last time.
In deepest recesses of the shrine, so far that she had stepped fully into the netherworld, Yuri faced Ose Kurosawa. The raven haired shrine maiden, whose sorrow was drowning the mountain in tragedy. They fought, and as they did Yuri glanced into Ose's soul and engraved her pain into her mind. She embraced the shrine maiden, and let her know she wasn't alone. Ose, her sorrow calmed, stepped away and began to sink. Yuri would have gone with her if she had asked, but Ose didn't. That one moment of warmth had given her the resolves she needed. Ose sank willingly into the shadow spring, sealing it's dark waters forever and lifting the curse on Mt. Hikami.
Afterwards life went back to normal for Yuri and Hisoka, until one day Yuri received a strange letter. It was pretty vague, only stating that her "Assistance" was requested at some tournament. She didn't know what to make of it, but Hisoka encouraged her to go. It would be good for her to broaden her horizons a little, and after what Yuri had faced she had more than proven how capable she was at handling things on her own. Hisoka would always be waiting for her when she got back.
She set out on her bike, following the odd directions the letter provided, to the setting of an utterly otherworldly tournament. Before she could get her bearings on all this, though, she was engulfed in light.
Specialty: Psychic. Yuri's abilities are particularly adept at finding things that are missing or uncovering the history of an area using shadow reading and psychometry. Level: 1 Experience: 0/10
Powers:
Shadow Reading: Yuri can find missing or hidden people and objects if she has a token of them. A token can be anything related to a person, such as something they owned, something they held dear, a piece of them, or even a photograph. When she concentrates on the token she sees a ghostly outline of that person wandering in the missing persons direction. A token of someone who is dead can also be used to search out objects that also belonged to them, though searching for the dead person using this method carries the risk of drawing malevolent spirits to the user.
Strengths:
Sixth Sense (Frontside): Yuri has a very powerful sixth sense, and it able to see and feel the presence of spiritual beings such as ghosts.
Shutterbug: Yuri's experience using the Camera Obscura to defend herself on Mt Hikami has left her very skilled at photography. She can quickly draw the camera and line up a perfect shot in the blink of an eye.
Nerve of Steel: Yuri is very hard to fluster in combat. She is able to calmly raised her camera and patiently wait for the perfect moment to strike even in the face of things that are utterly horrifying coming right at her.
Weaknesses:
Ordinary Girl: Bedsides her sixth sense Yuri is an ordinary, not even particularly athletic, 19 year old girl. No magical superpowers, no amazing feats of martial prowess. Baseline human.
Sixth Sense (Backside): Stare too long into the abyss and the abyss stares back. Stare too long at a ghost and a ghost will stare back at you. They know that she knows that they're there.
Wetness: Yuri's spiritual abilities have an odd relationship with water. When she gets wet her sixth sense seems to spike, resulting in her Camera Obscura attacks dealing more damage. However it also make her more vulnerable to spiritual damage and causes her to encounter ghosts more frequently.
Spirits:
Kindred Spirits:
The Sorrow - The ghost of a spirit medium, a terrifying combination. In life he was able to speak with the spirits of the battlefield dead to gather intelligence for his unit. In death? Who knows what he's truly capable of.
Lucky - Lucky found that frat boys are a useful source of food, and so decided to become an Alpha Tau. Sadly, their electrical repair skills were wanting, leading to Lucky's electrocution by their warm but malfunctioning pinball table. The spirit of a cat that met an unfortunate end, Lucky has mysterious powers over machines and fortune, both good and bad.
Hayden Tenno - An agent the CIA sent to clean up it's messes, including other agents of the CIA. He got more than he bargained for when he was sent in the country of Lasria and infested with the Technocyte virus.
Inventory:
Camera Obscura: A special camera invented by Kunihiko Asou meant to take pictures of things man was never meant to see. While capable of functioning as a normal camera what makes the camera special is it's ability to capture spiritual entities on film and damage hostile ones. Yuri's version is loaded with an infinite amount of Type-O7 Film and currently fitted with with the modified SMASH! Lens, though other films and lenses can be loaded if acquired.
SMASH! Lens: A camera lens provided to Yuri for use in her function as a Smash Brothers assistant, this one is unique in its ability to effect the living. When someone's picture is taken with this lens equipped the victim will be stunned for a moment and inflicted with a status effect similar to poison signified by a dark aura for a few seconds. Pictures taken through this lens are darkened, and suffer from a significant amount of grain.
Herbal Medicine X3: A blend of healing herbs that Yuri now never leaves home without.
Cool! I'll get to work on my sheet in short order. I've got a big post in the works for another RP, but it shouldn't be too long before my app is ready.
I have gone ahead and made some edits, which I'll include below for convenience. Hopefully it clears up the issues!
For my Kindred Spirits, I might be thinking a little too inside the box. But I did change one of them for the moment, maybe it's a bit more interesting than the previous choice.
EDIT: Zoey informed me that Zer0 is a character that's already out of commission here. So for now, I'm going to just leave Pathfinder as my only Kindred Spirit.
Mirage's history has been changed to reflect the higher level of destruction from Galeem - It happened during a match. Mirage was forced to go solo, having lost both of his teammates. Creeping about, he managed to make it to the last two squads, the bright painful zapping ring closing them all in as Elliot planned to make a final, drastic push to try and find victory. There'd never be a finalized decision to the match however, as a light brighter than the ring could ever hope to be took the contestants, the Kings Canyon arena, the planet of Solace, and the entirety of the Outlands, though Elliot is oblivious to the idea that more than him disappeared during this event.
Mirage's Holographic Decoy can be redeployed at his position after a fifteen second cooldown. This cooldown begins after deployment of a decoy, and deploying a new decoy destroys the old one if it's still active.
Removed the 'Fall Damage Immunity' Strength, and instead gave him a strength revolving around gun knowledge - Weapon Proficiency - Mirage is capable of handling firearms of a wide variety, not limited to pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and shotguns. Due to the technological advancements in his own universe, energy variants of these types of weapons are also easily understood. (Think E-Tech guns from Borderlands, or Brute Spikers from Halo)
Davis has been removed from Mirage's Kindred Spirits. A replacement may be added later.
Mirage's Fall Damage Immunity passive from his jetpack is now independent, not taking up a strength slot.
Seems good! Sorry about Zer0, although if there's a different version of Zer0 that exists you could use that version instead. You can also adjust your kindred spirits as they come to you until one appears in the story. Go ahead and put Mirage in the characters tab and I'll PM you about an entry point!
I've been lurking for a bit and then talked to Zoey, who shilled about how awesome this RP is. So I decided to write up a character submission to see if I could get involved, too. I'm sure adjustments might have to be made, but Zoey was really cool and tried to steer me in the right direction, so hopefully it's not in need of too much revision. I left his ability without a cooldown time simply because I wanted your opinion on what it should be, instead of me just spitballing a time or defaulting to what it is in his game. (For reference, though, it's cooldown is 15 seconds in-game)
"Usually one is better than the other, and both of me are better than you."
Name Elliot Witt Also known as Mirage, The Holographic Trickster
Game Origin Apex Legends
Personality Elliot is generally an upbeat sort of guy: He cracks jokes, sees the humor in most situations, and even when he's upset it usually comes out as witty remarks towards what's going on. He's always the cool dude, mister popular, loving having the spotlight shine on him and the fans cheer for him. Every choice he makes revolves around an entertainment factor and how much he can wring from a stunt, attempting to pull in the sponsors and rake in the revenue.
However, despite his seemingly huge ego and self-centered nature, he's actually quite the team player. He'll pick you up when you're down, never desert you in a firefight without your consent and he might even share supplies, free of charge if you remember you owe him one. He can be surprisingly compassionate and willing to listen when someone needs it, and for a friend he'll stick his neck out with no hesitation. Just don't get too upset when he gloats about helping you out.
The above mainly dictates the 'Mirage' he uses as a front, however. What he wants people to see. Elliot is quite panicky on the inside, and through stressful situations his composure can crack and show an uncertain side of his personality. When on his own, he tends to act more somber with his peppy demeanor disappearing, quiet and calculating as he has nobody to pretend for. Often these are when he is at his most effective without distractions, but his discomfort and negativity can be impactful to a point where he slips up, no different than from his cocky showoff attitude getting him into trouble. Elliot rarely allows this part of himself out to others, and probably won't let it out to anybody in this mysterious world, unless he truly gets to know them.
History Born on the planet of Solace, a planet within a small cluster known as the Outlands on the fringes of the Frontier, Elliot was the youngest of four brothers. Due to this, he always attempted to use tricks and pranks to stand out, mastering the art of fooling others to get attention. Being the baby of the family, he became the tried and true favorite of his mother, and the picked on but endeared runt for his brothers. Growing up, Elliot's brothers partook in the Frontier War while he stayed behind with their mother, becoming an engineer specializing in pilot holo-tech as it was his mother's passion. His brothers never came back, leaving Elliot and his mother alone to work on their devices, which he constantly used to try and cheer her up in the form of practical jokes, but the loss of three sons had obviously taken a huge toll on her.
She slowly but surely began to see progressing signs of alzheimer's, forgetting the names of her sons on occasion, or mixing them up. Talking about the father that hadn't been around like he was there the whole time. As Elliot grew into an adult he became more and more concerned for his mother's mental health, eventually deciding that home care just wasn't enough anymore. His mother was placed into a specialized facility for her own preservation, Elliot paying out of pocket for the expenses. This had made life hard, and while working in one of his part-time bar jobs, he began to hear of the Apex games and the fame that could be made along with fortune. Seeing opportunity, he readied his holo-tech and qualified, competing in the games with enough wins to be granted Legend status, becoming one of the fan favorites in the Outlands.
That being said, Mirage has seen his fair share of drama from within the Games. From discovering a rival in the form of another Legend named Crypto, to seeing the arenas he fought in be blown up, have meltdowns, freeze over, then somehow end up on fire again. This didn't even mention the incidents he has gone through with other legends, such as the blackmail he ended up on the given end of in regard to a certain Loba Andrade joining the games and wanting to hire him for a mission to find some machine parts, which went swimmingly, I assure you. Adding onto this that the next woman to join the games was one Ramya Parekh who became a forced roommate of his and the drama and painful antics never seemed to end. Especially since directly after that, one of the planets he fought on had it's arena blown up. Again.
It happened during a match. Mirage was forced to go solo, having lost both of his teammates. Creeping about, he managed to make it to the last two squads, the bright painful zapping ring closing them all in as Elliot planned to make a final, drastic push to try and find victory. However, this would never happen. Something brighter than the ring approached him, though it wasn't painful in itself. Nobody knew what happened, but by the time the light was gone, there was only one squad left detected in the area, and they were declared the winner. No body for Elliot Witt was found among the contestants, and his disappearance boggles the minds of Games viewers everywhere.
Specialty Mirage is a highly agile mid to long range fighter, using a mixture of fast movement, repositioning and deception to outwitt his opponents on the battlefield while using the weapons at his disposal to actually clear them out.
Level 1
Experience 0/10
Powers
Holographic Decoy - Mirage can deploy an identical holographic decoy of himself, which can mimic his movements, display what he's holding, and make audible footsteps. He can also send them on direct forward walking or running paths, even deploy it during a slide to send it forward in a fast sliding motion to fool enemies. Or he can leave them standing or crouching in place to look like a sitting duck. When shot, they make a horrific static-y "You got Bamboozled!" sound effect. While they can usually endure multiple weaker attacks before dispersing, stronger attacks cause them to fade after one hit. And obviously, because they're holograms, even if they don't disperse it doesn't mean they absorb bullets, rather they go straight through. It could cause you to waste precious time if you think it's the real one, however...
Strengths:
Mobility - Mirage is an agile fighter, sprinting for long periods without running out of breath, easily vaulting over obstacles or climbing short walls and going into long action slides into giant springy jump pads all while keeping his aim true.
Fall Damage Immunity - Mirage is outfitted with a jetpack specifically for diving into the arenas of the Apex Games without breaking his legs. These also aid him on the ground as he can jump off of cliffs, multi-story tall buildings, generally most high places as the jetpack counteracts his downward momentum.
You Got Bamboozled! - When a decoy is attacked, the attackers position is relayed to Mirage. This is only the position at the moment of the decoy being shot, and does not track the target afterwards unless the decoy is struck again, to which it will update the location of the attacker.
Weaknesses
Not my pretty face! - Mirage can fight hand-to-hand and will if necessary, but he isn't the most durable, so taking hits isn't in his favor.
Keep your mouth shut, Witt! - Elliot is great at using his words for mindgames and perhaps even motivation, but he is also really good at pissing people off when he doesn't intend to. Relying on him for negotiate is a terrible idea, especially if he has reason to dislike the individual(s) they're trying to convince. He also stutters a whole lot when scared, which probably doesn't help either.
I came, I saw... I won! - Elliot tends to act cocky and show overconfidence in front of others to try and impress them. This can lead him into wonders of trouble, though Elliot's still not stupid enough to throw himself into certain death to prove a point. He's also very prone to accepting challenges, especially if someone talks him down about not being able to accomplish the task.
Spirits
N/A
Kindred Spirits
Pathfinder - Pathfinder is an Apex Legend and one of Elliot's closest friends, at least by his own words. Though he shunned the MRVN away for a long time due to being afraid of losing someone he had a bond with, over the time they've spent together in the games Elliot has become much more protective and caring for his tin can buddy, and will whoop the tin can of anyone who tries to mess with him. He just wishes Path would stop talking about his girlfriend. Plenty of bots in the sea, Pathy...
Davis - Davis is one of Mirage's uncles, brother to his mother, and the origin of most of his humor through their relation. Though he hasn't seen the man since he was extremely young, leaving Mirage to wonder of his fate, his mother still speaks fondly of him even in her current condition, as well as her second brother, Droz. Sometimes she even mistakes Elliot himself for Davis due to their similar personalities.
Inventory
Wingman - The Wingman is a powerful revolver, capable of dealing heavy damage in singular shots, taking six shots before needing to reload. It uses a standardized ammunition type known as 'Heavy Ammo' which is used across many of the Frontier's firearms.
Arc Star Grenades x2 - Arc Stars are grenades shaped sort of like ninja throwing stars, that stick on impact before releasing a disruptor explosion after 2.8 seconds, causing heavy damage to shielding devices and machines, and blurs vision along with lesser damage against living targets after exploding.
Jetpack - A jetpack used in the Apex Games for skydiving into the arena, and preventing damage from long falls. Grants the Fall Damage Immunity passive as long as it's equipped to Elliot.
Mirage's Duds - Mirage's clothes made specifically for use with holo technology. Though he can fit the equipment onto other suits, it'd take downtime and definitely couldn't happen during a mission. If he loses this or it's destroyed, he will be unable to use any powers/passives that involve his holo-tech.
Heavy Ammo - 100 standardized Heavy Ammunition. For use with weapons such as his Wingman.
Hope he looks somewhat fun, I honestly like the character mainly for his personality and I think I can possibly work in more of his cloaking-type abilities for more trickery and tomfoolery later. Or perhaps add a whole new layer through spirits, when that time comes.
Again, super willing to try and work through any issues. If he seems like a problem in general I can try to go for something else, too. Thank you for your consideration :3
Hey there! I'm glad this RP caught your interest. The application overall looks quite good, with just a couple points.
The first is that Galeem's attack annihilated everything, not just the PCs. Every other contestant, audience member, civilian, etc in the game and indeed world in which he disappeared would also be gone. As for abilities, including the fifteen second cooldown on his hologram would be alright, since more details are better. Spacing it appropriately IC should be pretty easy. I'd be willing to have Fall Damage Immunity just be an effect of his equipment rather than a Strength, as Strengths are typically more stats, quirks, or skills than passives or equipment-related unless there's nothing else to draw Strength from. Maybe a generalist weapons proficiency instead, given his ability to pick up and use a whole host of different firearms skillfully in-game?
The only other thing I could say is that Kindred Spirits don't actually need to be related to the character. If that's what you want you can do it of course, but since its just a method of ensuring the specified characters will appear eventually, you can also choose characters whose spirits you might want for Mirage or who would have a neat dynamic with him.
Well what better to follow up a half-demon than an angel, right?
Name: Pit Game Origin: Kid Icarus Appearance:
Personality: As a servant of the Goddess of Light, Lady Palutena, Pit is dedicated and righteous. He has unshakable faith in Palutena and in himself when he acts in her service. He may complain about the difficult assignments he's given, but he always gets the job done. He is confident and fearless most of the time, and takes his duties as Captain of the Royal Guard seriously. He has absolutely no tolerance for evil, but to his friends and allies he is cheerful, talkative and playful - plus he's got a great sense of humor (or so he claims). He always stands up for what is right.
...that said, anyone who talks with Pit for an extended period of time will quickly learn that although he is a competent soldier and an experienced combatant, like his appearance suggests he has some childish qualities as well. He is stubborn, defensive, and more than a little naive. If one were to tell him the world gullible was written on the ceiling, he wouldn't hesitate to look. Plus, having relied on his Lady's guidance for so long, he can become nervous and self-conscious when he's on his own, though he's working to correct that. Sometimes he can get a little star-struck as well, but despite all these qualities he's still a model angel.
Background: The world that Pit hails from is called "Angel Land," a realm consisting of three major areas: Underworld, Overworld (also called Earth), and Skyworld. In Skyworld, the Goddess of Light Palutena reigns and looks over the humans living in Overworld with her angelic army. The most accomplished of these angels, and the captain of Palutena's bodyguards, is of course Pit himself.
Pit is also the only angel that does not possess the ability to fly on his own, despite sporting a pair of wings. Because of this, when the Goddess of Darkness Medusa mustered her forces and razed Angel Land, turning Palutena and her army to stone, Pit alone was underestimated and spared. He was imprisoned in the Underworld while Medusa wrecked havoc, but with the last of her power Palutena granted Pit her bow and arrows to break free and save Angel Land. That is exactly what he did - fighting his way through the three world areas, defeating Medusa's Underworld commanders, collecting the Three Sacred Treasures along the way, before finally facing off against the Goddess of Darkness herself and winning.
For a long time after that Angel Land was peaceful, excepting the regular human wars that went on of course. Suddenly and mysteriously Medusa was revived two decades later, and she was intent on getting revenge. Again she called up an army of Underworld monsters, her former commanders also rising from the dead, and set off to destroy Skyworld. After being thoroughly defeating her a second time, Pit and Palutena discovered that the true master of the Underworld, Hades, was behind Medusa's revival... and that said revival was a ploy to distract them while Hades put his own plan into motion: mass killings in order to gain souls to convert into power. The battle with Hades exploded, dragging out over a period of years and involving several other gods, ancient destructive beings, and even alien forces. During the struggle, Pit and Palutena made some unlikelyallies, and finally after a bitter battle Hades was defeated and the good guys won.
In between adventures to save Angel Land, Pit has had some invitation to Smash Brothers tournaments as well. The first being between one appearance of Medusa and the other, where he was sent to fight against the Subspace Army. The most recent invitation saw him greet the now familiar characters of the Smash family and stand together with them in an attempt to overcome the twisted light of Galeem. Needless to say, things didn't quite go as planned, and Pit was among those first to taste Galeem's mind shattering force on that lonely cliff.
Specialty: Assault Specialist
Pit is a battle master that specializes in raids and frontal attacks; quick and powerful burst damage.
Level: 1 Experience: 0/10 Powers:
Light Arrows
Used in conjunction with the Palutena Bow, it's special training needed to weird the weapon. The ability to use the light arrows manifests as two golden halos of light that encircle the archer's firing arm, letting them fire arrows of energy. The arrows' path can be directed somewhat, but the trade off is that one arrow doesn't do much damage on it's own. The arrows gain speed over a distance though.
Strengths:
Plucky
Pit is brave and determined, even in the face of danger - maybe even because of the perils he regularly faces. He's very hard to break his spirit.
Winged
Despite not being able to actually fly, having a pair of wings comes with advantages. He can flap them to 'jump' higher a couple times in a row, use them to slow his falls, and if the wind is good he can glide down from places.
Hardy
Pit is tough even for an angel. He spends most of his missions "getting shot at," but manages to make it through okay. Plus he can eat food from from the ground with no ill effects - perhaps he has an iron stomach too?
Weaknesses:
No Natural Flight
Although Pit has a healthy set of wings on his back, for reasons unknown he can't actually fly on his own. While the wings can help with other things, without outside help he is flightless.
Lightweight
In a trade off for being a bit quicker, being light means the Pit takes more damage when he is hit and gets knocked back much farther as well. He's easy to send flying.
Illiterate
He straight up can't read. Maybe he's been too busy with his angelic duties to learn.
Spirits:
N/A
Kindred Spirits:
Pittoo (Kid Icarus) - Actually hates being called "Pittoo," Dark Pit is a "failed" clone of Pit, created by the Mirror of Truth. In a way, they are like twins with a complicated relationship. They may not always get along, but they are tied to each other regardless.
Lute (Monster Hunter Stories) - A courageous boy that traveled across his continent to protect his home and friends. Being a human, he also gets some help flying from his partner, Ratha.
Samus Aran (Metroid) - Kid Icarus and Metroid are sister series of sorts, with the titular aliens of the later somehow finding their way to Angel Land. Actually, Pit is just a big fan of Samus.
Inventory:
The Palutena Bow - The weapon the Goddess granted to Pit, and his favored weapon in Smash. While it's primary form is a bow, it is capable of taking the shape of a single sword with reversed blades, or two short swords.
His credit card - yup, it's a credit card. Don't worry, it's not maxed out yet.
Great application! The only thing I can say is that Viridi's link is broken. Accepted!
@Lugubrious There I changed it to severely damaging it's chest cavity. I can change that too if you'd like?
That's alright, but as you go forward keep in mind it's always okay to ask me beforehand rather than try something and then ask if you need to change it. And if you do that, it would be best to do so in DMs. Since the posts here even in OOC are more structured and take up more space than chatroom messages, doing six or seven posts in a row gives the impression of clutter.
