Bio

Very well, where do I begin?

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet.

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles.

There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking. I highly suggest you try it.

Would you accept an approval! in less than that? Because that's what I'm giving you.
So some of us have done this dance a few times.

What's a character you've never seen portrayed or an idea you've never seen that you'd like too?

One concept that I've been obsessed with, for whatever reason, is the idea of the "original" iterations of some of the bigger characters. Sort of the radically different takes that were either tweaked or completely abandoned with subsequent development. For example, Superman being considerably less powerful (not even able to fly) but very much acting as a champion of the people, all people, against the tyrannical forces of evil and a lot of the systemic ones. Batman both having no qualms with killing the occasional foe, brandishing a gun, and fighting more monsters and supernatural figures in addition to the mob. Wonder Woman being as focused on the culture of Themyscira as fighting the evils of Patriarch's World, aswell as being more of a war time figure than a superhero. Alan Scott and Jay Garrick being the only Green Lantern and Flash. And so on and so forth.

I think the bigger thing, though, is a version of events where radical reinventions are more encouraged than anything resembling the canon idea of these characters. While I love seeing and writing the classic versions of these characters, there's something very appealing about seeing a game where Bruce Wayne can literally turn into an inhuman Bat-Man or Daredevil is actually a team of ninjas mentored by Matt Murdock (Does this sound familiar, @Byrd Man...). Just people going absolutely insane with the base concepts of these guys and going off script as much as possible. I think it could work as long as a more traditional outlet still existed or, more likely, everyone got sick of the regular type of game. By itself, I feel like people (myself included) would prefer to just stick to the main idea of whoever we're playing because that's all we'd have at that moment and couldn't stretch ourselves thin with another game.

As far as characters, I don't know. I feel like I've seen people play every type of character in these games. From Darkseid to Ben Urich, there isn't really a stone that's been unturned. Maybe more alternate universe versions of characters? I know the multiverse thing is already being done to death in the movies, but I like the idea of more people playing versions of the same character and having them clash or work together.

"I died once. It was boring, so I stood up."

This is where you outline your vision for the character including any notable changes or differences from the regularly accepted canon. This should be a short summary that provides insight into where the character is in terms of their overall progress and development.

There are very few characters that I feel like I could tell a "hero before they wear the costume" type of story with. I even ran into a wall with that when trying to write Bruce Wayne. But Marc is a pretty fascinating character to pluck out of his prior origin period due to two things, his nature as a soldier-turned-mercenary and his struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder. In trying to figure out how to slowly build to Moon Knight from a base level, I imagined a scenerio where instead of simply being a gun for hire who winds up betrayed by his superior officer, he's recruited into a shadowy organization that looks to manipulate his condition and trick him into carrying out missions that are beyond morally questionable. In that way, it expands his horizons as a character and gives him more weight going into taking up the cape and shroud. I also wanted a chance to write an extensive supporting cast, but no prior team really fit what I was looking for... which is why I decided on Checkmate, since there is no set roster for that and I can incorporate both the DC and Marvel stables believably.

@Ruby's X-Men are approved!
Sweet.

Also I have this crazy idea but If possible, I would like to stake my claim on Doctor Fate as one of Klarion's legacy character @Lord Wraith@Master Bruce

Basically, My version of the lord of order is one of the greatest host that has ever taken the mantle of Nabu's helm: Steel Maxum

and yes, this is a serious proposal.

Hey so I have an idea for Cindy.

Going with her bunker backstory. She gets bit as a child, powers discovered by Ezekiel Sims. Ezekiel believes Morlun is hunting her and stuffs her into a bunker for a few years. It isn't until Doctor Strange discovers her claiming there isn't a Morlun that he knows of so he takes her to the Sanctum Sanctorum until he can find out why someone put her down there.

I'll play a little into Doctor Strange but not a lot. It gives Cindy a lot more to do since she'll not only be adapting to life as a 'normal' kid but she can also jump into spider stuff with Strange's help.

@Master Bruce It affects Spider-Man's story potentially in the future with an Ezekiel Sims and maybe a Morlun. However, that is all very distant and I don't think would affect anything you have planned. Could be something to collab on in the future.

And for anyone else, if you wanted to play as Doctor Strange, the slot is still open. He'll just come with this caveat of having Cindy to watch out for.

If that's fine, I'll go ahead and finish what I have written out.

I would say that for characters like Dr. Fate and Dr. Strange, you might seek alternative plans. Those guys both tend to be pretty important cornerstones of the universe, and relegating them to side characters or supporting cast might be more detrimental than intended. It's a little like me saying that my supporting cast includes Daredevil or The Punisher. There's actually precedent for both characters to be Spider-Man related, and one even debuted under his banner, but they're too big for me to just use without applying for one of them as a second.
@AndyC's approved for his slashfic Raven and Starfire.
@ErsatzEmperor That'll work just fine.

@Silverstein You're approved for Klarion.
I'm gonna be honest, @CameleonFox, I don't think this game is nessescarily for you. While I feel like ordinarily there would be more potential to hash out your concept into something workable, @Sep has been accommodating enough to try and it hasn't gotten very far. You might fare better elsewhere.
@Master Bruce

Can I play Silk again?

Sure! Just be aware of the fact that Spidey has only been doing his thing for five years and has only come up against some of his enemies, so Cindy branching out as a crimefighter herself would have to be a (relatively) recent thing. There's also not likely any Spider-people other than her and Pete. But those are the only things I would say you should worry about.

In other news, @Kyoka's X-23 and @Retired's Green Arrow are both...
