🏹 Arthur Twist 🏹

Location: Big Bad HQ - Lowest Level: Hallway -> Empty Room
Skills: Investigation, Archery, Stealth
The voices of the Sisterhood members caused Arthur to pause, flattening himself up against the wall just in case they were to come his direction. The voices weren't hard to identify - Lady Deathstrike and one of the Mastermind sisters. Cold anger filled his veins as they so callously mentioned the team his father had put together for Serval Industries - the X-Factor. With these two out to play, he knew that he was definitely getting closer to finding the head of the beast - the Red Queen, Madelyn Pryor. Fortunately, they hadn't noticed him and once they safely had gone into the next area, Arthur scanned his immediate surroundings.

There were cameras everywhere. Switching his current arrow out for an EMP modified one, he took out the first security camera with near perfect aim - and he repeated this process until they all had been broken. An organization with this level of power was bound to notice their security systems go offline, but Arthur didn't care - he just needed them to buy him a few pressure seconds, maybe even a minute. He calculated it would take at least that long for the guards to notice. Switching his arrows for one with an explosive end, Arthur then began to slowly move down the hallway.

Slipping inside an empty room, he aimed his arrow at the end of the hallway and let it fly. A massive explosion resulted and Arthur quickly closed the door of his room quietly, ducking down to hide in the darkness. With any luck, the two Sisterhood members would be sent to investigate, clearing the way for him to continue on. He knew he couldn't beat these powered individuals in a fair fight, so he had to rig the odds in his favor.

⚡John Watts⚡

Location: Big Bad HQ - One Level Down: Andrew's Prison? -> Secret Elevator
Skills: Perception, Superspeed
Watts' entire body was vibrating rapidly, the anger burning like a supernova in his core. He almost didn't register Evelyn's words - that if Andrew wasn't there, he might be on a lower level. All of his talk earlier of strategy had gone out of the window. His normal logical nature had been displaced by an intense need to rescue the cupcake eater - and to rip out the hearts of every villain in this place while he was at it. "I KNOW!" Watts raged. He had heard Spiral's directions - he had used them in order to come to this place. Both of his hands were balled into fists. Sapphire was the next one to give him information, this time information he hadn't had before.

Flinging the door open, Watts ran up and down the hallway at superspeed, red lightning trailing behind him. Eventually, as he gently pressed his hand against the panels of the wall, one of them gave way and opened to reveal an elevator. Screeching to a halt, scuff marks appeared on the ground and the red lightning was still darting all around his body. "Elevator. Now." He wasn't going to give people an option to talk about their feelings first. He jabbed his thumb up against the button to call for it and the elevator came quickly enough. Watts stepped inside, holding the door long enough for the rest of the team to enter if they so wished.

His eyes darted rapidly over the buttons available to them. The red glow didn't distort his vision as much as others might imagine. There were only two floors lower than them and he couldn't see any obvious indication as to which button was used the most, so he jabbed the button for the lowest floor based on pure guesswork.

Washington D.C.: September 10th, 2020 - 10:00 AM

The Amtrak Station...

Sophie snickered slightly at Anastasia's not-so-subtle putdown of Jinx. Phoebe and Esme had to agree with her as well - they couldn't imagine anyone ever wanting to reproduce with him, especially given the little stunt they had witnessed. In their opinion, Emma had put him in his place - and that place was as the laughingstock of the Hellfire Club. "Of course," Sophie told Anastasia. "I wouldn't dream of ruining your debut mission as the White Queen. We wouldn't want Emma to think you're not up to the task..." And while Sophie was focusing on driving the car, that left Esme and Phoebe free to pick apart at Jinx's argument. They had a lot of aggression to take out after their mother passed them over after all.

"Do you really believe you had anything to do with it?" Esme taunted.

"One of your petty little jinxes wouldn't have taken down Shaw," Phoebe agreed. "If they were really so powerful, Magneto never would have let you leave the Brotherhood of Mutants."

Esme nodded, smiling a bit cruelly. "No, Shaw's downfall needed a woman's touch - whatever contributions you made were minor compared to our telepathy... and Anastasia's morality reversal," she then finished, mentioning what Anastasia had done as more of an afterthought. It wasn't too long before Sophie pulled the car into the parking lot of an Amtrak station.

"The train's late," Sophie said, her eyes bright blue and then a moment, so were Esme and Phoebe's as they telepathically searched the area. "One of the workers nearby believes the train will come by here in ten minutes. We'll have the conductor stop the train, you two will just need to retrieve the mutants we came here for," the Three-in-One said in unison. "David and Valentine Haller," they added.

JFK Memorial Hospital - Gift Shop...

On the surface, it would be hard to distinguish a hospital gift shop from a children's souvenir store. Stuffed animals are on just about each and every shelf. Balloons are tied to the displays. Board games are stacked up to the ceiling and there are numerous greeting cards. However upon closer inspection, the cards are all geared towards sympathy and improving health. There are flowers sold in vases. Some sections of the shop are labeled with the age range and demographic they are geared for. Notices on what types of gifts are inappropriate for patients with given conditions are littered around the shop (such as a reminder that patients cannot eat 24 hours before surgery...)

Colossus picked up a white teddy bear with pink ribbons on it and he looked at it. "Do you think Illyana would like it?" he asked Moonwalker and Feedback seriously. He hadn't really seen his sister in years - was she too old for a teddy bear? He saw her as a little girl in his heart, but his mind knew logically that wasn't the case. She was grown now. Colossus then glanced at the clock. "It is time.... Feedback, once you begin, we will start distraction, da?" he said, more or less asking Feedback to start doing her part of this mission.

JFK Memorial Hospital - First Floor...

While they hadn't been able to identify where to get the medicine clearly from the plans, Casper had been hospitalized before for near overdoses. He thought for a moment, actually using his natural intelligence, and he realized that they tended to sort patients into wards. The medicine for treating drug addiction couldn't be kept too far from there, right? It didn't make sense to him for the nurses to be constantly running back and forth from the pharmacy, when they could have some sort of storage room on the ward.

"I got this," Casper told the others in his group, before he went up to the receptionist with a worried expression. "Hiii... We're here to visit our friend, but we can't figure out where his ward is," he told the receptionist.

"...What's his name?" the nurse asked, looking a bit skeptical.

"Give me a minute," Ben said, walking over behind the nurse's desk and looking at the list of recent admits she had. A moment later, Ben glanced up at Casper. "Danny Philips was admitted last night, heroin," he explained.

"Danny Philips," Casper replied. "We're awfully worried about him, we'd been trying to get him clean but... You know how it is, he just loves heroin..."

Ben flashed Casper a thumbs up. The nurse then typed something into her keyboard. "He's on the fifth floor - narcotics ward," she explained. "You can take the elevator over there straight on up. Room 4."

"Thank you so so much..."

The Cherry Bomb - Barroom...

Glimpse's bartender shrugged slightly. "Yeah, but what bar doesn't?" he asked her, chuckling a little bit as he started to clean some glasses. He frowned slightly though, his eyes darting over towards the door where Leighton, Max, and the other bartender had gone. It had been more than ten minutes since they went down there. "Damn it..." he muttered. There was no way his boss was going to like that - they weren't really supposed to go down there and if his co-worker was going to have a threesome there, he doubted that would end well.

There weren't any cameras behind the bar, but Glimpse would spot a bunch of polaroid photos pinned up of various drunk customers holding microphones. It was a karaoke bar, after all. Now, that wasn't to say she wouldn't see any cameras in the bar - she would be able to notice one above the front entrance that was aimed directly at the door that lead to the basement stairs. Havok had gotten up from the table he, Sunshine, and Spark Plug were at, before sliding into a seat next to Glimpse. "What do you know about the guy with Jack?" he asked her quietly. He didn't trust her, but he was going to see what information she had for him anyways.

With the food at her table finished and Havok having gone on over to Glimpse, Sunshine paused for a moment. She knew that she shouldn't just sit by herself - people were more likely to notice the underage teenager that way. Going up to the bar where Glimpse and Havok were wasn't an option, that would put her in direct line of sight with the bartender, and she didn't see the other four anywhere. Besides that... a part of her was curious about the man Jack was talking to - why had he been at her trial?

Getting up from her seat, she went and sat down next to Jack, looking at him and Essex. "Sup losers?" she greeted.

In the bathroom, Veil chuckled slightly at Spark Plug's suggestion and she smiled. "Sure, if you find a locked door, you can blast it," she told her friend. She then concentrated and she made both herself and Spark Plug invisible. Spark Plug would be able to vaguely see Veil, just enough so that way they wouldn't trip into each other, but no one else would be able to see them. "Come on," Veil said quietly, leaving the restroom and doing her very best to hardly open the door. She doubted anyone was just watching the bathroom, but she couldn't be too careful.

She then walked over to the door marked as the basement stairs and she gently pulled on the handle, the door creaking open slightly but it wasn't too loud. Slipping inside, she hoped that Spark Plug was right behind her. She was keeping the both of them invisible, so unless there were some sort of thermal cameras no one should be able to see them at the moment. One thing instantly struck Veil about the staircase though - there was no light. She could barely make out the glint of the door handle from the door at the bottom of the flight of stairs. "...Mind making a light?" she whispered. "Once the door closes behind us."

The Cherry Bomb - Basement...

The lights in the basement suddenly burst - POP, POP, POP! If there was anything for Leighton and Max to look for, it was obscured under a cover of darkness now. The door behind them, at the foot of the staircase, slammed shut. And then, like a scene out of a horror movie, the two new mutants would be able to see a pair of yellow eyes staring at them. "Du solltest nicht hier sein," the creature warned. The yellow eyes then vanished and Leighton would feel a strong pair of hands grab her, before a moment later she was no longer on the ground - she would get the sense that her entire body had been rapidly teleported somewhere else.

It would be easy for her to figure out where as a moment later she dropped suddenly, hitting one of the armchairs she and Max had been admiring moments ago. Her hip was going to be bruised from the fall, but otherwise she wasn't really injured. Max would feel a gust of wind near his head and then hear a crash as something collided into the wall near him - had this monster thrown something at him and narrowly missed?

Without finding a way to bring some light into the basement, they were going to be hard pressed to beat the creature with the yellow eyes...

🗡️ Megan Pendragon 🗡️

Location: the Morgue
Skills: N/A

Megan's interest was piqued. Her brother had also received the bizarre letter, warning about their birth parents being in danger? Their adoptive parents were very well off, since they were both doctors, and she wondered if it was some sort of attempt at stealing money from them. Robbery attempts had had crazier premises before. However, the corpse at the orphanage... It couldn't have just been a coincidence. The universe was rarely so lazy. There then remained just one logical line of inquiry - the letters she and Jack had received must have been connected to the body in the morgue. "I'm coming with you to the orphanage," Megan decided, not giving her brother a choice about it. It wasn't too unusual for medical examiners to assist in investigations anyways.

"Think about it - we both get this bizarro letter, and then a stiff shows up at the children's orphanage? I doubt that's a coincidence." She didn't know what the explanation behind all of this was, but she didn't like it. And as much as she enjoyed talking about going to crusade for the forces of the night, Megan didn't believe in such things. The only monsters in the world were human. She took off her gloves, tossing them into the bin, and she then put her lab coat up on a hook. Grabbing her coat, she then put that on and looked at her almost-twin brother expectantly. "I think we ought to go see what the current administration there know about all of this - maybe other orphans have gotten letters like these - or maybe they can at least ID our John Doe..."

She pulled out her phone, before quickly taking a picture of the face of the corpse. "Ready when you are."

The Small Wet Country Across the Sea: November 6th, 12,508 - 12:20 AM

Wizard Way, the Castle...

Sága shook her head slightly. "You know so little of your own family tree," she mused, before considering the easiest way to explain this to Cuyler. "When my brother Odin was but a boy, he needed to drink the waters of Mimir to become the God of Knowledge - but those waters can only be consumed by those who have given up half of their sight... In exchange, they can see more clearly with one eye than they could before with two." The goddess then smiled slightly at the dog, before pulling a steak out of her pocket and she tossed it to Thia. "You have a fine beast."

She then turned her attention to Arnora. "Do you believe I would have done this any other way if it were not strictly needed? There are thousands if not millions of futures, some of them separated by as small a thing as giving Cuyler a choice to lose his sight... And aye, girl, it is about Ragnarok. I foresaw the end of our lands, the next turn of the cycle of time, and I have been searching for eternity for a way to prevent the forces of chaos..."

"If the boy drinks from the waters of Mimir, your people stand a chance of survival. If he does not... You will all perish at her hand."

Myrus Silvers

Location: the Vault -> Outside Dungeon One - the Palace
Skills: N/A
"I know..." he said quietly. There was one particular bit of Magyk that could be cast over the Dungeons, but it was a cruel process. The Magyk slowly sucked away at the spirit and life of the person incarcerated within them, eventually turning them from a vibrant and lively being into a husk of their former self. Some prisoners would scream that a black wraith was feeding off of their soul. He didn't like the use of that Magyk, but with some prisoners it was needed... And if they needed to subject Amarantha to the curse to keep the Castle safe, then so be it. He owed it to all of the innocent people living here who were in danger because of her.

Myrus departed the vault with his sister, coming out to spot his other sister, Valda, speaking with the rogue that had come with Amarantha. He could have let Ahote handle this all by himself, but Myrus had sentenced Amarantha to this fate - he felt he had to see it through. Besides, if he wasn't there and somehow Amarantha escaped, he would only have himself to blame for anyone who got hurt. Valda didn't seem to register they were there. "Valda, Ahote and I are taking her to the Dungeons... We'll lock her up with the curse," he informed his sister, before Myrus headed to the nearest staircase that would take them down to the lower levels.

Instead of taking the turn for the crypt as he had done so many times, he made a right. The halls were lit with torches and various guards were down here, having been assigned to ensure that no one would escape. They looked at Amarantha with confusion and then pity. Eventually, stopping outside the most wretched looking door of them all, Myrus opened it to reveal a deep pit with chains. "I can chain her," he told Ahote, offering him a chance to step back and not have to do this to his friend. The chains were where the curse was localized - whoever wore them would slowly be destroyed.

Meanwhile back up above, Apollodora sighed slightly, looking at Valda. What could she say to prove to her that she came from the future? She could tell her that she was the daughter of Arya Rincewind and the northern trader Cuyler, son of the All-Mother, but that would hardly convince Valda to believe her. No, she would have to supply some information that Valda hadn't told anyone yet, something that was common knowledge in the future. She paused for a moment, thinking, but she couldn't come up with something that wouldn't make things more complicated and confusing. "Aye, my story is a strange one... But I believe yours is matched in strangeness. I'm the daughter of Arya Rincewind. If you're worried about anyone ending the world... It's going to be my mother."

Violet

Location: ???
Skills: N/A
Lord Hellfire looked on at Fleur with amusement, her words about the hatred her mother held for him causing a smile to tug at the corner of his lips. "Your mother forbade that I see you, daughter," he answered simply at first, before continuing to elaborate. "I loved power more than I loved her... A trait that I see you have inherited. As for our plans, they do not concern you. We have been ruling this world from the shadows since before the world was remade. The designs of your little coven do not concern us."

"Answer her question," Violet told the Lord Hellfire sharply. He didn't scare her, even with the purely wicked gleam in his eye each time he spoke. His eyes were hollow, as if the emptiness from where his soul once had been was growing larger with each and every moment. The air around him even felt wrong, as if each atom of his body was exuding a greater and greater darkness.

"Yes, the Way... I am afraid we are not responsible for those - the Ancient Ways connect us all through Magyk. Step through one and you will be transported across the world. And no, daughter, I did not use your Way... though one of our members, Esren, did." That name would have meaning for Fleur - Esren was Nera's birth name. Had Nera been working for this mysterious group the entire time? Had her love betrayed her after all?

"...That's how you move your army, then," Violet deduced. It made sense then how they were able to have power. Not even the most powerful wizards were able to Transport large groups on mass, especially across significant distances. But with the Ancient Ways, they could simply walk through a doorway and end up exactly where they needed to be, without giving their enemies the chance to prepare to strike. To have control over the Ancient Ways was to control the world.

"Yes, very astute Avenger," Lord Hellfire said, chuckling a little bit again. "Now, do you have more questions for me, daughter...?"
Asgard: November 6th, 12,508 - 1:20 AM

The Rainbow Bridge...

Antonije kept a firm grip on Sylvi, his arm around her as they walked along the Rainbow Bridge. It was a steep drop into the waters below them if they were to fall off and he wasn't about to take any chances. His faith in Bruce's abilities was dismal at best, so he figured if they were to fall, Bruce would probably not notice they were dead for about two years or so. "She's a witch," Antonije argued. "A witchling, fine, but still a witch." He didn't care what Bruce thought, it was simple to him - Nova had strange abilities and she wasn't a full goddess, she didn't even have the title of goddess, so witch was the best she could come by.

Halley walked next to Myth, finding her company to be the most pleasant of those assembled. She still had Loki slung over her shoulder, letting the unconscious goddess be for the moment. It was far more pleasant than having her uncle aware to complain and whine. "I'm going to take Loki to the prison, you're welcome to join me if you wish - unless you would rather go with Bruce and the children to see Nova," she informed her sister-in-law. She had to imagine that Myth would prefer to attend to the children and then go collect her son from her own mother, Runa. New mothers were always especially fretful in her experience.

"You okay?" Antonije whispered into his girlfriend's mind. The Rainbow Bridge was excessively long, but they were nearing the end of it. At that point, they would just need to walk to the center of the city to reach the palace. He wasn't exactly going to complain about the distance, given that he had spent most of his life traveling and trying to avoid his adoptive mother Constance, but it still struck him as being a bit much. But then, the engineering side of his mind realized that this bridge was probably the minimum safe distance people could live from the awesome power of the BiFrost.

"We should go find Grandfather as well," Halley then realized, turning her attention to Bruce. "Is he at the Summer Palace?" she asked. Baldur tended to like to pretend that July never ended, that despite the November chill in the air it was still the time of warmth and relaxation. Her grandmother, Nanna, was rather the same way. It struck her as odd sometimes how such carefree and happy people could produce someone with as much internal turmoil as her mother Runa, but she supposed there was no reason why someone had to be exactly like their parents anyways.

@BlueSky44@Kirah@Nallore@FantasyChic@Jasonhero

A huge congratulations to the cast of Agents of SHIELD:

They not only fixed the timeline to save the world, but they defeated Ultron in the future and rescued their agents that were stranded from the Quantum Realm! There's nothing compared to the feeling of knowing that you and your RPers are really in this together. We've had our ups and downs, but we truly are a family - a family that refuses to just give up and walk away from each other.

Here's to another successful storyline as we begin our first player requested Holiday Storyline!

Excelsior!
@Natsu Looks good. Move him on over. He'll be brought in once we start the holiday arc - which will take place in San Fransisco. That arc should be super super sweet and short, then we'll go to Vol 3 the Terrigen Bomb in England~

No need to do relations, he's going to be arriving on base in the opening post to join the team.

Pym Technologies - San Fransisco: October 25th, 2020 - 3:40 A.M.

"I believe his distaste for me comes from the primal instinct to seduce and woo a mate - his body temperature spikes when he looks in the direction of Dr. Chase. As I have an intelligence far superior to his, it is natural that he feels threatened - I am additionally capable of physical feats that he will never be," the Vision concluded, aiming to help alleviate Cass' confusion.

Novikova meanwhile nodded slightly at Maria. "Я люблю вас...," she whispered, before closing her eyes and quickly drifting back to unconsciousness. Maybe it was for the best that she wasn't awake at the moment to be aware of her surroundings. But then again, maybe they wanted her to be conscious - it was hard to tell the ramifications of sleeping with this sort of undefined brain injury. No one had ever been injured before attempting to pull people out of the Quantum Realm with a robot.

Bonnie bit her lip slightly. The X-Men weren't the most friendly of organizations when it came to S.H.I.E.L.D. - which was understandable. Mutants and the government had never really gotten along, especially with O.M.E.N. attempting to massacre the students of Xavier's Institute not too long ago. Flynn had been a part of that organization, channeling his inner darkness. "I'll call the Institute, maybe they'll be able to help but... You have to prepare yourself for the good chance that they won't be willing to send anyone out here. The X-Men terminated the partnership with SHIELD on bad terms."

Spider-Gwen blew a gum bubble and it popped. "So what are you supposed to be?" she asked Harry, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. "You don't look very super... You don't even have a cape."

Pym nodded, agreeing with Tinley's assessment of the situation. "I don't work for SHIELD, but... I am willing to consult on the issue of your vision. I'm also going to take Spider-Gwen in - we have old things of Hope's that she can have and Janet and I can find a way to get her home. No offense, but if SHIELD takes her they'll treat her like a lab rat and she'll never get home," he said bluntly. "I also doubt there's anyone there smart enough to crack the Quantum Realm open who isn't already in this room." Speaking of one of those few people, Niah had come on over and Pym had a sense of trepidation about whatever she was about to say.

Raynor smiled slightly at Sparky. "Sorry... You just remind me of her. You would have liked her," he lied. Sparky wasn't ready to know the truth just yet, so he wasn't about to tell her. And it was perhaps for the best that Tempest hadn't mentioned her vision to Raynor, as he was one of the only people in the room that would recognize the reality she had described. He wasn't from this reality - in his reality, SWORD ruled a land called the Iron, mutants lived in Genosha, and Captain America founded the epitome of the Wild West, the Blue... Asgard had been destroyed and they lived in Norway, renamed New Asgard.

And for the life Raynor led there? If his fellow agents knew the crimes he had committed, they would have locked him up in the Raft years ago. "The cat's just being dumb..." he muttered, hissing back at Goose mockingly. He couldn't really take his gaze away from Sparky though - he was so happy to have her back, safe and well.

The Triskelion - Washington D.C.: October 25th, 2020 - 6:40 A.M.

Natasha Romanoff was no fool - she could plainly tell that Roman was hiding something from her, something huge. An amateur interrogator might have just gone out and asked Roman for his secret, to demand that he reveal what he was holding back, but Natasha was adept at playing the long game. She would learn far more if she let Roman go and had his actions monitored, his activity scrutinized. Her mind flickered to a conversation she had had with Acting Director Hill - Barton was retiring and his mentee, Abercrombie, was taking his place.

She had a gift with minds. A plan fell into place. "Thank you, you can leave," Black Widow told Roman, removing the power dampeners and taking the various cables off of him that were connected to the polygraph. "Don't leave the Triskelion - you'll have your new assignment by the end of the day."
