~ Cal Family Mausoleum ~

Jarde watched as Sirs Fleuri and Nicomede both attacked the vampiric Damon Cal. The latter moved to counter but the Iron Rose Knights emerged the victor in the clash when they managed to hack off the vampire's limbs, specifically an arm and a leg. Victory was guaranteed, but Jarde thought it to be too easy.

And his fears would come true, Damon landed as if he had lost nothing. Jarde was momentarily confused but a chill ran down his spine when the blood the vampire lost from his missing limbs condensed and solidified. They then acted as threads that connected the arm and leg to their stumps, moving to return the limbs to their proper place. In a moment, Damon Cal was restored fully. The efforts of Sirs Fleuri and Nicomede seemingly for naught.

The vampire aimed and fired his crossbow at Sir Fleuri but the bolt was intercepted with a shot of water conjured by Sir Nicomede.

"Sirs FLeuri, Jarde! Sever its limbs!"
Nicomede Durante

Hold on. Did that not work? Perhaps Sir Nicomede had a plan. Jarde trusted his fellow knight and prepared to move.

"Jarde, can you restrain him? We have to keep him from moving around."
Fleuri Jodeau

Restrain? How-- Jarde quickly realized he was talking about the chains attached to his sickle weapons. "That's not their true use but alright."

Jarde released the locks that connected the sickles to the chains. He elongated his chains by letting them fall off his arm and rushed forward. His plan was simple, throw his chains around Damon and hold him there for Fleuri and Nicomede to tear him apart. He wished he could do something more extravagant but they needed to restrain him and that's exactly what Jarde would do.

As soon as he was close enough, Jarde would throw one of his chains at the vampire in an attempt to wrap and bind. Damon was more than capable of deflecting the oncoming chain attack so Jarde would delay throwing his second chain just in case the first one was blocked. Obviously, he would need to be there to hold the chains together but he doubted he had the strength to resist Damon's. Jarde was a speedster, not a brute!

"That's something I've been asking myself since I woke up. This body is more... Glamourous than mine was before all this. I suppose I have the ears for it now. Though..."
Augusta?

"Wait. So you were... changed?" Nick did not know that not all of them were as the same as in Earth. He was relieved he stayed the same in this world. At the same time though, he sure could have used some extra features to help him out here. Like a pair of wings or something.

But enough about that, Augusta somehow identified the creature as a Wretched Experiment. It was... weaker than Nick thought. It was sensitive to light, burns easily, 'Cursed by the Moon' whatever that meant and pretty weak individually. They relied on their quick bursts of speed and numbers to defeat their foes. Which meant this one on its lonesome was nothing to be concerned about.

They left it to Isidore to take care of it. With the chains he took from the cell they woke up in and a few sleek moves and the Wretched Experiment was down, finished off with a brutal boot to its head. The poor thing did not even stand a chance. Nick pondered why it was named 'Wretched Experiment'. Was it a subject in some insidious procedure? Hold on, how did Augusta know what it was? Was that her power from the Goddess?

Nick followed Augusta towards the corpse of the wretched creature. "Pretty nice. Where'd you learn to fight like that?"

Augusta knelt down and pried the sword from the Wretched Experiment's hand. Its grasp on it was not solid and the blade was taken easily. Augusta gave it a practice swing before she spoke.

"Right then, gentlemen, shall we make our way out and to somewhere safe? Of course, we could always scout the rest of this place out but... We could always just come back. This place gives me the creeps but... Well, Isidore, Nick? What do you two think? Oh, and do either of you want to use this?"
Augusta

"Yeah, ah, I vote we leave this place as soon as possible. This place is giving me the heebie-jeebies." Nick quickly said. He was still feeling anxious but was that because of his power or was it a natural reaction to what just happened? "I mean, I bet there's fun taking these things down but I think it's in our best interest to get somewhere safe and get our bearings."

"I wouldn't mind using this but if either of you have actual skill with this weapon, that would be best."
Augusta

"Well, I can't say I've got skill with swords but I'll take it if neither of you want it." Nick wanted the sword to have something to defend himself with. But he kept that to himself, it was probably better if it was in the hands of someone more capable.

Come on then! I need a good exercise to burn up the food I just eaten!"
Yang Bethlehem

Regardless if Ada or Kira had left Yang's side as she ordered, the Ushi-Oni continued her attack. "Doesn't matter if there's three or three-hundred of you! I'll beat you all!"

The large, ferocious monster charged at Yang. Everyone's eyes was toward the impromptu and unexpected fight. Only a few noticed a darting blur, a quick figure snatching a piece of meat from Nero's dish and heading right into the middle of the battle. It barely took a second, fast enough that the Ushi-Oni was not even close to Yang when he arrived.

In a split-second, the blur of a figure passed by the spider monster who immediately stopped dead in her tracks. What he left behind was the strip of steak dangling in her mouth. The Ushi-Oni then sported a face of pure bliss as she grabbed hold of the steak and happily chewed and savored it.

"Tastes pretty good, doeesn't it? You should've tasted the foods first before jumping into something troublesome." Nero was the identity of the lightning fast figure. "You still mad?"

"...Yes." The Ushi-Oni lied between chews. "But I'll stop being mad if you make another one of these."

"I'll make you two."

-

"Sorry for raining on your parade, blondie." Nero approached the guild members. The commotion had died down and people have began leaving with the contest now over. "But a fight in this area between two titans of battle, as fun as that would be to watch, would leave a lot of stuff here messy. And you bet they're gonna make me clean it up, which I don't wanna do."

The only people in the area were those still not done with their dishes or those who wanted more. "Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of the festival. That goes for you two as well." Nero turned to Ada and Kira. "Hmm, never seen her like before. Then again, I've never seen a Night Gaunt either. Who knows what monsters I didn't know that I didn't know." He referred to Ada.

"And you... are pretty." Nero addressed Kira. "And also in dire need of a bath."

The contest was over and the guild members were now free to roam around and enjoy the rest of the festival. Although, weren't they forgetting something?

A Test Of Strength

"You decide punishment."
Ditzy Stoneclub

"Alright. I'll just take this guy to jail and take his ill-begotten wealth for mysel-- I-I mean, return them to their rightful owners as much as possible." The real Ian said. "You know, you should've just looked at our font colors to tell us apart but your idea worked and that's what matters, right?"

"Want to play again to see who's strongest? We can arm-wrestle!"
Ditzy Stoneclub

"Ha! I like you, Hobgoblin!" The Minotaur laughed. "Sure, me and the tiger can take you on!"

And so you, the Minotaur and the Jinko got a table and began challenging each other's arms. You managed to win several times and you were defeated several times. After a few more matches, others decided to join in and you had to challenge all sorts of figures. Some stronger than you thought. Others, weaker than you thought.

Soon, you had to back out since your arm was getting really tired from all the wrestling. "You're not bad. Not bad at all, little Hobgoblin." The Minotaur laughed. "See ya around. Hope you enjoy the rest of the festival. Meanwhile, me and the tiger's gonna stick around here for awhile and enjoy the show."

Just when you were about to leave, the true Ian North returned. "Hey, Ditzy! Forgot to give you this." He then handed you a strange token. Engraved on it was the rectangular head of a man with an ornate crown and a large beard. "Trust me. That's gonna be useful one day. You should use it when you and your guild are in a pinch and are in contact with some really beardy guys."

Bullesye
~@13org (FYR)~

""I spent most of my life alone. I am not exactly 'good' with people... Or this kind of stuff." Freyr said in a low tone. The relationship between male and female Vieras is... complicated. Regarding me and Haley, I don't know. I don't know what or if she feels something nor... How and if I feel something anymore.""
Freyr

"...Oh. I-I didn't know it was that bad. Sorry." Sir Reed scratched the back of his head. "I'm not sure if this is helpful advice but, I think you just have to not think about it. Just let whatever happen, happen. W-Well, that's how I see it. Err, love comes in many forms and... you know what, forget I said anything. Sorry about that, Sir Freyr."

The competition was soon resumed and the contestants were recalled. The new obstacle this time was shooting targets in the air. Specifially, shooting apples in the air. However, the apples would not be simply thrown into the air. They were to be dropped from a very high altitude which will force the competitors to take account the wind as well as the apples' small sizes in their shots. Who would fly to the air and drop the apples?

"Hey Freyr! I volunteered to help with the competition and they had just the thing for me." Haley approached you with a basket of apples on her wing. "So I'm gonna fly really high up and then drop these while you guys try to shoot it. Hey, we may be guildmates, Freyr, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna make it easy for ya."

And so, you and the other archers shot apples in the air. The altitude was not that great at first but as Haley got higher and higher, even you began to have difficulty. But who was truly lagging behind was the Cupid, her shots took more and more time and some were near-misses. It was surprising considering that the Kikimora maid monster was apparently more skilled than her.

As the Cupid made her next shots, you notice something. First, you see that she was using a different arrow this time for some reason. Second, you notice that she was aiming exactly at Haley and not at all the space under her.

"No. Spirit energy is a vital energy possessed by humans, and various other races, but not monsters."
Ozzy Skyway

"That's completely correct! One point for Mr. Skyway!" Riñas declared.

"What? How is that--" The Lich stopped as she thought about your answer. "No, no. That makes sense. Of course, why did I not think of that?"

"I was overthinking it. I shan't be caught off-guard next time." The Owl Mage told herself. "You watch yourself, Sir Skyway."

"Alrighty then! On to the next question!" Riñas pulled out another paper from the pail and began to read. "Should a human copulate with a monster, would their offspring always be a monster?"

The question was easy enough and like the previous question, the Owl Mage was the quickest amongst all. And like the previous question, she and the other conetestansts hesitated again. Their gazes, once more, turned to you. You realize that you had now broken one of the cardinal rules of this world by existing which was probably why they were hestitant to answer.

Yet another question for you to nab.
Ey gaiz, someone was wrong on the Internet and now I have to delay the update again.

Real sorry for the inconvenience.
Ey gaiz, update's coming soon. Don't y'all worry.
Old Woods

"It may not help, but it might. Come on, stand up we got to get moving. Be a big girl, eh?"
Zasada

"Uh, umm... I don't-- I don't exactly... drink. Sorry." Ibon declined Zasada's offer of alcohol. "B-but thanks." Still, the kind gesture raised Ibon's spirits somewhat. The Liberi had stopped crying and gotten up.

Wu departed from the party to search for the missing Longgui. Meanwhile, Zasada's plan was followed. Rex took the unconscious Blizzard and took point while Ibon stuck close behind Zasada. The team continued onwards to Riventor, not stopping as per Zasada's instruction. They kept a close eye on each other this time too. Should another member instantly disappear, they would at least know who or what was the culprit.

Fortunately, nothing untoward happened to the team since Wu left. The woods the surrounded was a bit more noisier now with the occassional chirp of birds and the light rustling of small rabbits and rodents. It was a little odd to see them in a forest as dead as this. However, the group was still on full alert. Whatever that took Longgui could still be out there. Could still be stalking them.

The uneventful trip was broken whem Ibon piped up behind Zasada. "Zasada, y-you're a pretty great scientist right? W-What do you think happened back there? Uhh, not Longgui's disappearance although I have questions for that too. I mean, the storm that brought us down. It... wasn't a normal storm, wasn't it?" Ibon asked. "And, and... I've also heard from the pilots that... something was following us."

Old Woods

Dragonheart and Will-O-Wisp bolted through the woods to escape the predator. The huge dog was hot on their trail, chasing them without being hindered by the dead forest. But when Dragonheart climbed the large tree with Will-O-Wisp on him, the huge dog could do nothing but scratch on the tree's trunk in a vain attempt to climb. It barked and scratched for a while, not at all losing interest at its Vulpo prey.

The two Operators discussed again on what to do next with Dragonheart suggesting that they get above the forest's canopy to get a look on where they were and maybe find where Riventor was. But before Will-O-Wisp could reply, another figure emerged from the woods catching everyone's, including the canine predator's, attention.

It was a tall Feline man with orange hair and tiger ears and tail. He was armed with a shield as tall as him, marking him as a Defender Operator. Dragonheart and Will-O-Wisp would know him as Wu, a Defender Operator of Haynek Institute and a member of one of the teams in this operation. Specifically, he was with the team aboard Raven One and a survivor of that crash. What he was doing here of all places was a mystery.

"Hey! Pick on someone your own size!" Wu challenged the huge dog. The large predator shifted its attention, finding new prey. It quickly lunged at the Feline Defender who raised his tower shield to block. It took all of Wu's strength not to fall over and keep the dog from him. The predator barked as it tried to bite Wu but the Defender then pushed it to the tree where Dragonheart and Will-O-Wisp was.

"A little help here!" Wu called out to the two Operators as he continued to pin the huge dog on the tree.

Yes, we're fine. Just fine."
Augusta?

“We’ll be heading out. I’m Isidore, and the lady behind me is Augusta. Let’s acquaint ourselves properly once we meet outside.”
Isidore

"Alright, let's get out of here." Nick still had that anxious feeling. He cannot wait to get out of this place.

They reunited outside of the cells and proceeded further into this strange, prison-like facility. A long, barely-lit corridor made of black stone stretched before them. Along the walls were cells similar to where they first awoke, all of them having iron bars in various states of disrepair. Some of them were still there, some were broken and littered all over the floor. One thing that Nick noticed though, this place was old. Probably not used anymore and probably no one in here, right?

Nick doubted that, considering he was still feeling anxious about this place. "Isidore and Augusta, right?" He started as they made their way into the corridor. "I'm Nick. Nicholas Gallagher. Just an average dude who got on the wrong train at the wrong time." He briefly introduced himself. "A pleasure to meet you."

Soon they heard a low gurgling in the corridor. Nick immediately hugged the wall in defensive reflex. He heard footsteps and metal being dragged across the stone floor. The source then came into view. It was an ugly thing: A pale, misshapen humanoid with sunken eyes and holes for ears. Its limbs were long and thin, it was a mystery how it supported the body. Nick could scarcely believe his eyes. It was a monster, and the completely horrifying kind. The worst part was that it had a weapon in its disfigured hand.

It appeared it has not noticed them yet and Nick hand signalled the other two to lower themselves to a crouch. "Looks like Mrs. Applebottom from high school." Nick could not help but whisper a joke to cope. "We should probably sneak past it. Buuut, we can also try to gang up on it. Although, we don't know what it can do with that sword."

"What do you guys think?" Nick looked to Augusta and Isidore. Looking at the gorgeous Augusta, he could not help but notice some things about her. "Are you an Elf?"

Clear Meadow ---> Old Woods

Zasada scouted ahead into the Old Woods. Fortunately, there was a wide, clear dirt path that presumably lead to Riventor so long as there were no forks or intersections in the road.

The Ursus scientist would be the first to see before the rest of the group. The woods that surround the path were so thick and numerous, they acted like some sort of wall. Looking through them was nigh impossible. One would need to enter the forest to see what lied beyond. The trees were also mostly dead, only through their numbers and thickness were they able to block the sunlight from reaching the forest floor.

Nothing happened as they traversed the path. In fact, everything was quiet. Eerily quiet, like something was about to pounce on one of the group. The tense silence was broken with a shrill shriek. The sudden scream belonged to Ibon and Zasada was forced to regroup with the others.

"What the?! What happened?! Where's Longgui?!" Wu angrily demanded at everyone. He was supposed to be carrying the unconscious Operator on his back. Suddenly, his back felt light and discovered that Longgui was no longer there. Nor anywhere. "Where's Longgui?!" He repeated, panicking a bit.

Ibon, meanwhile, fell to her knees sobbing. The poor Liberi was scared but not beyond words. "She... she... she disappeared!" She managed to squeak out. "I was-I was-I was looking at her. She-she was on Wu's back and-and-and when I blinked... she was just gone!" She then sobbed and cried. "I hate this! I hate this!"

Wu could not believe what he heard. He paced back and forth. "Damn it! Damn it!" Wiping his face, he came to a decision. "Rex, Zasada. Take Blizzard and Ibon to Riventor and seek help. I'll go find Longgui, alright?"

Not a day has passed and the group was already down an Operator. Blizzard was still present but unconscious and Wu volunteered to go look for the missing Longgui but was that really a good idea?

Old Woods

While Dragonheart and Will-O-Wisp discussed what to do next, the sounds of sticks breaking immediately put them on alert. Halting the talk, the two Operators faced the direction of the approaching sounds. The woods were thick and concealed whatever was coming upon them.

Then it appeared. Out from the darkness of the woods came a black-furred dog. At first glance, it seemed like an ordinary dog but upon a closer look, it was a huge dog. An impossibly huge dog, it was as tall as a person and was therefore much taller than Will-O-Wisp. It had red eyes and razor sharp teeth and those coupled with its black fur lended it a terrifying appearance.

It approached with a growl, its eyes focused on Will-O-Wisp. It appeared it was drawn by the smell of blood, and the Vulpo girl was bleeding. It thought nothing of the abilities of its prey or her companion, only that she was prey.

Dragonheart and Will-O-Wisp had a fight on their hands. Or perhaps it was wiser to run away for now?
