Yang and Ada went to the entrance of the port with almost lightning speed. In mere moments, they were at their destination.

What they found there was a readied wagon filled with various items alongside a bound and gagged Nero who began squirming to get your attention, presumably asking for help. Surrounding the wagon were four Kikimoras, all of whom looked exactly alike making it nigh impossible which one of them participated in the cooking contest.

They all noticed the arrival of the two girls and they all dropped what they were doing to greet the newcomers. "Hmm, it seems I have been caught." One of the Kikimoras uttered.

"I loathe violence, but I fear I may have no choice." Another said, taking a bundle of arnis sticks from the wagon and distributed them to the other Kikimoras, tossing two sticks for each of them.

"This attempt may be farfetched but..." Yet another Kikimora said, catching two sticks with one hand. "May you please leave and never speak of this to anyone? No need for a fight to occur here." She politely asked Yang and Ada.

Freyr would go to the cooking contest and find Neil along with the Altissima sisters there. "Ah, Freyr! Someone's been kidnapped and Talia said it was a Kikimora." The Viera would be reminded of the Kikimora who competed in the archery contest. "Yang and Ada went to the town entrance to see if they intercept them. Kira went to get you and the others, I guess she already told you, huh? Anyway, me, Sylvia and Vivian will alert the local authorities."

"Hey, Freyr. You're all red, dude. What's up?" Neil asked, noticing Freyr's flushed face.

As soon as Neil asked though, Haley would come land near them. She was also flushed and blushing like Freyr but then did something that could make it worse. The Siren planted a tender, long kiss on the Viera's lips. Neil, and possibly the Altissima sisters, was dumbfounded. "Now we can talk about this later." Sbe gave him a seductive wink. "Alright then, what's with the kidnapping."

Neil was still in shock to answer when a panting Sir Reed arrived. "Hey all, I heard there's trouble. What's up?"

"Also, did Ozzy see the rest of the guild? Ditzy wanted to see Freyr beat the arrow competition. Freyr shot an apple that someone was holding on their chest before without injuring him, so Freyr definitely should be the best!"

Ditzy Stoneclub

"Fraid not. We just finished here. I was going to find them afterwards, but I promised her to show her around. I'm sure Freyr won. The others too. I guess I still have alot to learn. We'll meet up later Ditzy."

Ozzy Skyway

"By the gods, another male monster?" Margaret gazed at Ditzy, immediately figuring out what he was. "Sir Skyway! You didn't tell me that you had other male monsters in your midst! Just what other secrets are you hiding?" She demanded from Ozzy. "Are there other male monsters I should know about?"

"Errr, am I interrupting something? You know what, on second thought, that's not important right now. One of the contestants of the cooking contest has been kidnapped!"

Kira Gigas

"Oh, dear." The news was shocking, to Margaret at least. "Should we... should we tell someone about this? Like Miss Riñas?"

"Mayor Uma I take it, Eh? Zasada from the Haynek institute. Apologies for the sudden intrusion but my team and I seem to find ourselves crashed and somewhat stranded and in need of a bit of information. I volunteered myself to speak with you on my teams behalf."

Zasada

"Haynek Institute? Ohhh! Yes, yes, we've been expecting you!" Mayor Uma lit up as she remembered. "I received a missive from your organization that several teams would be coming for a research expedition. Welcome, welcome!" The Kuranta woman grabbed your hands to shake. "And you crash landed? What? How? Are you alright? Are you the sole survivor?"

"It's the forest, Mayor. It got to them." The Archosaur answered. "And there's more of 'em. Mostly unharmed, they're just... you know."

Mayor Uma understood what he meant and her face grimmed. "I see. Well, let me know how I can help you and your team. Anyway, welcome to Riventor! It's not much, but it's home." She finished. "Umm, where will you be staying if I may ask?"

"I agree with Iby-chan, this could be big yeah? I'm not an expert on oripathy or anything...but surely something that has these kind of affects has that potential yeah to be useful yeah? Even if it itself doesn't prove to be involved in the cure, maybe it could help lead to something to help treat Infected? I mean..regardless this is a big discovery!"

Will-O-Wisp

"Well, if you put it that way..." Wu replied.

"Ah! Wisp, wait! Be careful!" Wu and Ibon sprinted after Will-O-Wisp towards the two houses in the northern outskirts of Riventor. They soon got to the house that reeked of chickens only to find two people there knocking on its front door.

Meanwhile, Medivac had knocked on the house's door with Radiant carrying the mad woman clutching a key. The door was unanswered when a Vulpo girl arrived and met them. "Wisp, hold on! We shouldn't separate!" A male Feline with a shield followed after her alongside a Liberi girl.

"Ah, sorry about this, Mister and Miss. We're just..." Wu was about to apologize to Radiant and Medivac when he realized they didn't exactly look like the locals. In fact, they were familiar to him. "Wait a second, you're Haynek Institure Operators. Yeah, you're part of the research operation." He smile was wide. "Thank goodness, there are more survivors. Err, who's that girl you're carrying?"

"...W-Where's Dragonheart?" Ibon said as she searched around for the Operator. Indeed, it appeared that Will-O-Wisp's landing partner was suddenly missing.

"Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT! Not again!" Wu furiously kicked some dirt. "This is why we shouldn't separate!"

Swamp

The two Operators stayed put for the moment. The ripples in the swamp's waters increased. The things that lurked underwater were converging on the duo. When they were at the water's edge, they all stopped.

*WHOOSH*

A large black monstrosity leapt out of the water and hurled itself unto Scathach. Fortunately, the Operator was quick and she managed to evade it. The creature landed back into and under the swampy water. It was but a glimpse but the two Operators definitely saw that the creature was reptilian with scaly claws and tail. It was no crocodile or alligator though, it looked more like a black-green lizard or salamander. Scathach certainly saw the rows of jagged teeth when it attempted to take a bite out of her.

But most of all, the swamp creature's limbs and body shape wasn't that of a typical reptilian. Instead, it looked humanoid. Regradless, the swamp was full of them and they appear to think that the two Operators were meals. Scathach and Cardinal should probably vacate the area soon.

The first chain was deflected but the second chain was successful. Unfortunately, the vampire's strength was many times Jarde's own. With one mighty tug of the chain, Damon sent Jarde flying right towards him. Jarde thought that they really should've seen this coming. He saw the vampire's teeth already bared and he dared not imagine what could happen to him in the undead's clutches. Was this going to be the end of him?

Probably, but Jarde won't go down without a fight. The vampire may be speedy, but so was him. As Jarde flew in the air, he quickly unsheathed his remaining weapon: A shortsword. In a second, he was in Damon's grasp but then something splashed over him and the vampire. Some sort of water? He didn't have time to think about it. With the blade, Jarde attempted to jam it right up Damon's head.

Vampires can heal mortal wounds, but surely this has to do something, right?

The Journey Begins

The magical tug-of-war ended in their victory. Albeit one that sent them tumbling to the ground, but a victory nonetheless! Nick was just happy that they avoided danger, even when he was lying down on the ground. There was something heavy on his chest, though. It was Augusta. No surprise there, he was the one physically pulling her earlier after all. Having a beauty like her so close, elicited a slight blush from Nick but alas, he was taken.

She quickly got off though and the three got on their feet just in time to see the results of their efforts. The ground beneath and around the slab rumbled and cracked, splitting open as the snow covering it quickly melted and evaporated into the air. In its place came a black sludge that seeped from the cracks, bubbling up into a pool around the slab. The liquid soon rose, veins of it crawled atop the slab. Nick was a little horrified by the sight. Just what have they done?

The sludge began forming shapes once it was atop the slab. It first formed a stem then it gathered mass as it formed a huge ball or head over the stem. It almost looked like a flower, or perhaps it was one just not the usual kind. The bulb grew and grew until it blossomed open, releasing a creature in front of the three. With its purpose served, the sludge flower withered away and leaving only a few of its 'petals' behind.

Nick took a look at the creature. It was a black-furred puppy. No, demonic black-furred puppy dog. Look at those bloodthirsty eyes and that long snout full of jagged teeth. It was small though so it was still pretty cute but Nick was sure that if this thing grew up, it would be the stuff of nightmares.

"With that probably colossal thing out here, perhaps we should follow the dog inside? Just to make sure we don't get crushed under foot? Besides, Octavia there is much too adorable to mean anything bad. Doesn't she seem friendly?"

Augusta?

"Yeah, we should get out of here." Nick agreed with Augusta. His danger sense was flaring up, but not from the demonic puppy. Rather, it was probably from that giant thing that Isidore mentioned earlier. Still, there might be no danger from the puppy right now but Nick did not trust it just yet. "Hold on a second, did you already give that thing a name?"
