Outside, the evacuation effort was well underway and going fine with Captain Morales leading the way and dedicated PRT troopers backing him up. Margrave did his own part as well, though he ran into a bit of trouble against a larger, stronger opponent that got him in a tight spot. Thankfully the people around were feeling especially confident today, a little gift from Captain Morales in a normally panic-inducing situation, and quickly came to the aid of their hero. In no time at all the civilians had been cleared from the area and were herded into a nearby park decorated with tall modern art sculptures. The immediate danger had, thankfully, passed them by.

The senior hero approached Margrave, his decades of trained combat showing in how he carried himself. Yet when he spoke to the young Ward, his voice was soft, and inspiring. "You did well today, adapting to an unexpected event and controlling the crowd. I'll be sure Director Kens and Inkscape are made aware in my report." His words carried weight which served to inflate something within Margrave. Was this effect created by his power? It was impossible to know for sure.

Within the concert hall, the situation had been growing quite dim. Ceramix gave pause as Messiah offered to surrender to his terms, and others followed her example. The rock-powered villain was unsure, looking for some kind of trick. Success was not a feeling he had grown accustomed to, as it were, so he expected the setup was a ruse. Right though he was, the reasoning behind his gut feeling was flawed as ever. "How do I know you on the level, bitch?" he shot back, accusatory. As soon as Tiger Lily transformed before his eyes he held the hostages forward in a grand display, further convinced of the heroes' treachery. "Back. The fuck. Up. I don't wanna see no dinos here, and no giant space squid things either. I just want Shatter out of there."

Ceramix began to choke up on his last words, and tears began to drop onto the floor, leaking from the bottom of his mask. The man was visibly crying at the situation his second in command had been put into. What followed was a wailing of pure emotional agony, but it didn't come from Ceramix. It came from within the containment foam. Thanks to being made porous enough to breathe through, it also facilitation communication. From within the white prison Shatterpoint sobbed, his body desperately trying to heave his chest but unable to move enough to accomplish the action.

"He's gonna have a terrible attack! Please, you've got to get him out!"

Meanwhile, multiple heroes took advantage of Ceramix's distraction. CRACKABOOM! The first, most apparent action had been taken by Tulpa's projection, which appeared right in front of Ceramix and unleashing a sonic attack directly upon his senses. "AAAAH!" The Rocker leader nearly jumped out of his own skin, startled and disoriented. By reflex he tensed up, which meant the massive stone hands were about to crush the hapless individuals residing within... Or at least they would have, had it not been for the interference of two more heroes.

Kyoshi blindsided Ceramix, approaching from behind the massive stone arms, a great hindrance in terms of battlefield viewability. Using her powers, she wrested control of one hand from Ceramix, her own variant of earth-manipulation trumping over his direct neural connection. With great difficulty, she broke the hand from the wrist and was able to gently set it down so as not to further disturb the hostages within. As for the second arm, which Kyoshi could not manipulate...

The second arm, too, failed to crush its single hostage. In fact, as Ceramix stumbled around in a dizzy, disoriented state, the arm refused to move no matter what he did. Ultimately Ceramix hung limp from his own floating stone arm like a rag doll, vomiting up the contents of his stomach. That point blank thunderclap had done wonders to neutralize the Rocker leader as a continued threat. But what stopped the arm from making strawberry jam of the hostage? The answer lie in how the hand had become discolored, now a murky black.

Inkscape held his ground, the two tentacles he used as arms extended dramatically like an old 60s sci-fi movie psychic. "It's a good thing that today is one of my better days," he intoned. With a mighty jerk, the hand split from the rest of the arm and set down gently to the ground. The fingers slowly opened up, revealing the hostage from within to be safe and unharmed, albeit still unconscious. "Noble-"

"I got it, sweetie!" Noble flew nearby and took aim with her containment foam gun, then fired off a capsule. It expanded around the villain, completely enveloping him save a bit of the stone arm still attached. Inkscape wiggled his right tentacle-arm a bit, and broke off the remaining stone, letting it drop harmlessly to the floor, then separated his ink from the rock, drawing it back into his own body.

"Good call distracting him with a fake surrender. I doubt that he'd have accepted it from me or Noble, knowing how hard we are on criminals. Excellent method of neutralizing him as well." The cephalopod-like hero mocked wiping hands together in a "hard work done" gesture. "I think this will be more news than the Rockers have ever gotten in their whole careers, hahaha!"

The tuxedo man nodded in approval as Headhunter showed off his impressive skills as a trained soldier. The method was perhaps a bit slow for the Broker, not quite as expedient as a severe concussion, but it would do just as well. He mocked a golfer's clap as the bartender came around to begin tying up the villain, perhaps a little too comfortable with the situation than he should have been, despite the unease he showed. "Then the payout goes to Headhunter of the Jacks. Capital. Now as for this last vial, it would appear we have a competition between the Rockers and an independent force? Competition breeds the best economy, therefore it shall go to whomever can provide the best offer. And since the Rockers' delegate has already stated she cannot pay immediately for the first, I am quite curious to see where this discussion goes."

Smarm oozed from every pore on the man's face. Sabotage was clearly disgusted by it, but opted not to say anything insulting, instead changing the subject back to the original topic of the meeting. "So now we can all make our own allies, our own backup. That's wonderful, splendid really. But now Xolotl has been taken down. I don't know whether to cheer that the Community's strongest enforcer is out, or hide because Patriarch is going to be absolutely pissed."

"Crass as she is, Miss Sabotage draws a fine point," cut in Purge. "The hornets' nest has officially been kicked, and with a very large stick at that. There is no longer an option to turn down this alliance, in my estimation of the situation, so that raises the next question: Where do we take it from here?"

"I can work on dismantling the Community's drug operations," chimed in Retcon with a giggly voice. "That'll poke the bear some more and probably get the other lieutenants to come out of hiding. Maybe Patriarch himself."

"I've observed a great number of drop points for Community information exchange," Macavity added, speaking for the very first time. Retcon nearly jumped out of their seat, startled. "It won't be difficult to follow the threads and see where they go. I will freely offer you all any intel I locate."

Sabotage sighed. "Well, if we're really doing this, then I know a number of their important hideouts, since you're all so kind as to point out that they regularly hire me. I can steal anything of note, and tear down any important machinery to their operations."

"Excellent. I have already been making a push into their territory, so I need not change my current plans. My mafia will continue to own more Community territory and businesses until they choke for resources." Purge's contribution wasn't surprising for the mafia.

"Capital ideas, each and all. I will serve as a neutral party to facilitate communication and distribution of your intelligence. And now, my esteemed colleagues-" The man selling powers was cut off as his cell phone went off. Not a ring to signify a call, but some manner of alert tone. He paused just long enough to check what had interrupted the meeting, furrowed his brow, then pocketed the mobile device before zeroing in on Creep. "News alert. It would appear that the Rockers attacked the heroes' gala today, in force. Ceramix, Shatterpoint, and numerous Rocker members have been apprehended by the Protectorate."

He bit his lip in obvious frustration, to the point of drawing blood. Veins were visible popping up through his skin all over his face, but after a moment of breathing he returned to a calm and stoic state. "This will certainly prove to be an interesting influence on your career path, miss. Do not worry about paying for the first vial. I can see your organization has fallen to... Rock bottom."
Accounting for everyone who has posted, abstaining, and the one person who has dropped the game, we are still only waiting on one person. Lugs, you have an extra day to get something up if you like, since I have to use the normal writing time of my day today to take care of important financial matters. Update will come tomorrow rain or shine.

Well I just noticed that Lugs got that update in there, and I’m an idiot. Heh. So yeah, we’re all good to go. Still going to have to wait for tomorrow though.
The crowd cheered on in the wake of Pike's victory, a raucous celebration heard throughout, inescapable. "Yeah! Go Pike!"

"That's the old captain for ya!"

"Take us all the way to victory!"

"Boomboomboomboom!" The laughter of Bill drowned out all others with its impressive baritone. The man's belly jiggled as he expressed his joy and enthusiasm. "Are ya cert'n ye can earn back yer old position based on tha' performance? Yeh've got a long way ta go an' they can still wear ya down!"

Pike scowled back, choosing to ignore Bill's question in favor of simply repeating himself. "Bring me my next challenger!"

Bill craned his head back toward the Red Rums and Krunch Krew, picking out Feya from the gathering. "We'll be seein' if'n yer crews can even get ta my contest, lass! Boomboomboom! But if'n ya do, I'll be glad ta take on someone wit as much... Spirit."

Meanwhile, Runch produced a bowl of cherry-red cereal and handed it to Boone. "This is my special bloodberry recipe. I designed it specifically to stimulate the healing process and provide extra nutrients to the body. It looks like our beaten men, those are are still conscious anyway, could really use it." He beamed with a great smile, just happy to be able to assist.

"I shall go retrieve your carpenter," commented Hachirou, standing tall. Without waiting for a reply, he lumbered down the steps and approached Kite, taking great care to lift the man up without exacerbating his injuries. "You have great strength of will." Without another word, he carried the shipwright back to the stands and set Kite down, gently, near Feya so the doctor could perform her duties.

"Hurry your dirty pirate asses along!" impatiently cried out Pike. "I could've stomped out another one of you in the time you're making me wait!"

"If you, uh... Say so." It was clear that Smith had absolutely no idea what Dirk was saying, and just didn't feel like getting any clarification or arguing about it. Instead he followed behind the helmsman as Dirk exited the communications tower. If they stuck along the wall as they had, then there were two directions they could go. If they followed along the right the would come across a row of ten cannons positioned so they would be shooting out to sea, and another tower on the far end beyond those. If they took the fork to the left, they would be heading back to where they originally scaled the wall, and further still the main hall of the fortress. In that direction Dirk could make out a familiar green flash in the windows: something he only saw whenever his bestest friend skullkid used that honor strike technique.

"Since you wanted to lead the way, by all means. Lead the way."
Sorry it's a day late, but it's time for the day 7 callouts. On the hero side we have @Gardevoiran@Lugubrious@solokolos@t2wave@LemonZest1337 and on the villain side we have @Gardevoiran@Spiffy. For the heroes I know some of you are still working out the overall strategy to get through this extremely precarious and dangerous situation, and that's fine. Just try not to make us wait for too long. Lugs, let me know if you still want to hold off with Elliot handling the civilians. Captain Morales is still on the same job himself right now so it's fine if you want him to still be directing their evac. Alternatively, you can return to the main fight, or you can have some skirmishes with more thugs outside and/or request I throw something your way while he's separated from the group. As for the villain side of things, Spiffy I know you're still waiting on a response from Affliction, which will come from me shortly now that he's a NPC.

Alright, y'all have got 5 more days. Break!

The concert hall was an absolute madhouse as everyone scrambled in one way or another to apprehend either Ceramix or Shatterpoint. The appearance of the combat thinker had seemingly turned the tide of the battle in favor of the Rockers as he weaved in and out of their formations, breaking combat strategies before they could even be fully implemented, and taking small shots at the heroes. He avoided the biggest threats, like Outsider and Inkscape, and thankfully had avoided the Wards as a whole as well. The villain had just springboarded off of G4M3R's shoulders (breaking them in the process) in order to reach Noble up in the air. For the first time one of the hero strategies worked out in their favor. Just before his fist connected with the gas-hero, hyper-compressed air pushed him back and Noble drifted the opposite direction, narrowly avoiding what could have been a career-ending injury.

"My turn!" Noble cried out, firing containment foam from her compressed air guns. Having just landed, Shatterpoint had no time to run away, but his power proved that a battlefield is a three dimensional space, not two dimensional. Before hitting the floor, Shatter spun in the air and slammed his fist below where he was about to hit. The concert stage cracked into hundreds of pieces for two meters around the point of impact, and Shatterpoint vanished beneath the stage.

"Stay alert, heroes!" Inkscape ordered. "Overlook, we're counting on you here!"

"What can I do, Ink?" asked Protean, already melting down into protein ooze, preparing to change forms.

"Be ready to restrain him wherever he crops up, then we'll trust Messiah's plan. If that fails, I'll end this myself."

What was likely Protean's head at some point nodded in agreement, as the protein mass took form and solidified. He possessed the torso and legs of a gorilla, mixed with the head of a dragonfly for perfect 360 degree visibility, and a mass of writhing tentacles quickly growing out from where he would normally have gorilla arms.

"Help m-ommf!" Overlook called out for help, but before anybody could react the stage beneath him cracked and collapsed, the crippled precog hero falling through. Shatterpoint emerged from down below, ready to continue the fight. He charged straight for Tiger Lily, Messiah, and Mastar as the three girl began to enact their own plan, only to be interrupted by the Protectorate's own personal Maverick.

"3 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi." At this point Hermes appeared directly behind Shatterpoint, casually tossing a grenade of containment foam at the enemy from behind. Shatter barely heard the grenade bounce against the floor before he reacted, turning his head to see what exactly had just happened... And then the grenade erupted in gooey foam, enveloping his body. With no room to move or gain leverage, even a brute like Shatterpoint couldn't break free from this containment and his power to target weaknesses was completely useless.

"SHATTER!" bellowed out the husky, deep voice of Ceramix, the first time he had spoken since crashing the party. But he had his own problems to deal with, as he was getting ganged up on by all the heaviest hitters in the room... But not for long. Just as the chest piece of the golem suit exploded off when Shatterpoint emerged, so too did another piece of the golem break away from the rest. Or rather, two pieces. Ceramix moved through the stone that made up his giant like a fish through water, leaping from his protection, but the giant stone arms came with him, attached to his own arms like comically oversized pillars, like Popeye the sailor man if his already unnatural and grotesque arms had been inflated twenty times over. With the brain of the golem gone, it slumped over harmlessly, and the heroes' attacks struck a completely harmless stone.

"LET GO OF HIM!" With his massive stone arms, Ceramix took hold of a few of his own unconscious men that hadn't yet been cleared from the battlefield. With two in his left hand and one in the right, he clenched them in fists. "Let Shatterpoint go. Now. He is the only person that means a damn to me and I will squeeze these men until they pop if you don't release him. It wouldn't even take much effort."

All the heroes stopped in their tracks, gauging the situation, examining the battlefield. Inkscape in particular looked absolutely furious, his rage quite evident despite having no human features. "Hermes. My orders were crystal clear and this is exactly why. We will talk once this is over."

Ceramix gave just the slightest hint of a squeeze in his right hand, just to prove he wasn't bluffing. A loud crack echoed through the concert hall, but just what bone had broken in the unconscious Rocker thug wasn't clear. "You have five seconds."

Inkscape frowned, then glanced to Protean. "Retrieve Overlook. Make sure he's ok." The dragonfly head nodded and clicked in response, before moving toward the hole Overlook had been pulled through.

"I ain't playin', fools!"

The tuxedo man smiled and grinned as each of the villain groups agreed to lay claim to their vials. Everything had been progressing swimmingly. The mafia, Sabotage, Reflections, Lethal Force, and the Rockers all agreed to receiving a vial. That was five out of six, and all that remained in the room was Retcon, who had yet to speak up about the matter, and Macavity, who had remained completely silent and to himself the entire meeting, blending into the background and easily forgotten. It didn't look like Macavity was interested in procuring a partner for himself, but still he said nothing.

"I'll have to say that I'm not interested," Retcon spoke with a shrug. "You can say that I'm throwing away a perfect opportunity, but I do what I do at my own whim for the entertainment. I don't need, or want, a partner to watch my back. But I agree the Community needs to be taken down, so you can count on my participation."

The tuxedo man nodded. "Very well, mate. I guess that means we've got another one up for grabs, eh?" Soon as he finished speaking, the lights flickered, but only for a moment. He scrunched his eyes, then looked back at the bartender, gesturing with his hand and making a face that practically screamed, "wtf?" The bartender merely shrugged in response, so the man calling himself Broker sighed and continued to address the villains.

"Who wouldn't mind doubling up, eh? I'd hate to leave here without offloading all my inventory." He held up the briefcase for everyone to see, like a man dangling candy in front of a room full of children. The lights flickered again. "Bloody Hell, someone needs to fix this shit."

"Don't worry, you won't be leaving with any of those vials," Pop! Pop! Pop! A distorted, static-like voice spoke across the room as lights began to overload and bust apart, one by one. "Nobody will be leaving here alive!"

With a crack of thunder deafening the entire room, a bolt of lightning surged from the busted lights and onto the center of the floor. The plasma took form and solidified into the image of a man wearing an ornate headdress with a very Mezoamerican inspiration. There could be no doubt as to this man's identity. This was Xolotl, the Community's number one enforcer. "It would appear that your stolen tinker technology does not affect me, thief. But why would it? I am a God. Above the machines and machinations of pitiful men as yourself. Now prepare to die... Every single one of you!"

Xolotl jumped toward the Broker, but midway through his flight tumbled down awkwardly, as though he were expecting something else entirely to happen. He hit the tile floor hard, skinning some of his exposed skin. "What is this?!" he demanded, pushing up to his knees. Xolotl took the opportunity to adjust his headdress. "Your God demands answers!"

The man set the briefcase aside, back atop the bar where he had it stowed away before, then turned back to Xolotl, a look of superiority plastered across his face. "It's unbecoming of a god to kneel, isn't it? But I digress, I am a man of business and there is no room for faith in commerce. A thousand to whomever knocks this arsehole out first, then have the bartender tie him up. I have... Uses for him."

He took a moment to straighten his tie, then addressed everyone once again with a chipper tone. "Back to business, then? Everyone who has laid claim to a vial can come collect theirs, and we shall hammer out who gets the spare, yes?"
The Murder

@Lugubrious

Samuel was taken aback by the results of his attempted nightmare. It wasn't out of the question that they be resisted, strong willed individuals had done so before, but something was entirely different regarding this situation. Something was different about this man not that he needed any further proof that the grubby looking salesman was bad news. What struck Samuel most, however, was the man's words as everything became painted over in white. This Horror of yours is potent indeed. But there are deeper fears still, fears that seldom occur to man. Perhaps one day I will show you. Such a suggestion seemed unthinkable. Samuel had met vampires and werewolves, ghosts and animistic spirits, literal angels and demons, yet his nightmares worked equally well on each of these mystical beings as they did on humans, because such beings were a part of the human psyche. They all possessed a consciousness which contributed to the Primordial Dream. Everything stemmed from it, as all supernatural creatures stemmed from the Night Mother. Yet this man, no, this thing suggested otherwise.

By the time Samuel had stopped reeling, the scene had returned to normal, more or less. Yet new creatures emerged from the ground, leftover blemishes of the painted world that had faded away. Each one appeared to be carrying multiple weapons, and Samuel had absolutely no intention of seeking battle today. If these things were left behind by that abomination, he wanted nothing to do with them. Wasting not but a second, Samuel forced himself to shed his mortal form, breaking apart into dozens of crows, all of which quickly snatched up anything useful still nearby (should the man have left his stand or artifacts behind) and immediately took refuge atop the nearest roof, before converging back into human form. The magician deigned it necessary to book it from here fast as he could, and hopefully put this entire experience behind him.
Marque de Bourdeaux

Marque had kept himself preoccupied with fending away the beasts of legend from the weakest of their group, thankful for the gift of Prometheus, for flame seemed an excellent deterrent of ferocious monsters. After providing his aid, the woodsman and animal master could now participate in the battle, and did so with vigor. Arrows flew, causing greater damage to the beasts than Marque certainly ever imagined he was capable, yet still thankful to be of some use in maintaining a perimeter. Once the wolves had decreased to but a single lupine, the dramatic breathed in relief, allowing the better trained and armed Col to take up arms. At such a time Lorenzo found the situation appropriate to remark on observations Marque believed to be quite naive and ignorant.

"Have you taken leave of your senses, woodsman? You speak as though these beasts are ordinary wolves when in fact they are the stuff of legend! The Wolfborn, larger and more ferocious than any common forest wolf. I would've imagined a man of the wilderness such as yourself to be more astute in such matters. Certainly our bard companion can sing song of their malicious natu-" Marque's words ceased as he spun round, seeking the bard in question, but finding no one. Where his sleeping bag had once lay, and the tracks in the dirt, told him all the story and as such Marque came to a horrifying realization. He had miscounted the wolfborn. No seconds hesitation and Marque struck his knees against hard dirt.

"The fault is mine," he mumbled. "I kept one of the creatures at bay, but abandoned my vigil to aid Mister Lorenzo. It... It must have taken him. The poor Hermit." Lower further he sank, until the ground became intimate with his forehead. Unmoving, save for a quiver that could be taken as the cold, or the realization of one's own terror.

The Cereal Killer Vs. Knight Sylvestre: Final Round!

@Lugubrious

Cyril slumped over from the blow to the head like a sack of potatoes. Runch stood over the knight, holding his spoonsaber ready in case the final blow to the head was not actually the final blow. Just in case, he continued to form the armor which had caught Cyril so off guard. In only a small handful of seconds the pirate was covered head to toe in a bright blue armor which completely covered him from head to toe, excepting only his eyes and hands. The suit was not exactly skin tight, but it was fairly form-fitting. The grainy texture was somewhat surreal to look upon, as it gave the impression that this suit was easily torn asunder despite otherwise appearing perfectly protective.

“I don’t normally like to use my bori bori ironclad. I haven’t quite figured out the joints yet, so my movement gets a little impaired. Plus it’s heavy to wear a full suit of cereal not only so dense, but with such a rich iron content.” Cyril didn’t move as Runch spoke, but it could just as easily be a ruse. The man had proven himself to be dangerously sturdy, much like himself. The captain was normally sporting and lackadaisical, but this far into the fight, this exhausted and injured, he no longer wished to give his opponent the chance to turn the tide.

After a few more moments of observation, the captain’s doubts and concerns subsided. Cyril was clearly breathing, so he was not dead, and if he were playing possum it was exceedingly well given all the pain he had to be enduring. Runch finally relaxed and approached the knight’s prone form.

“Juniper, stop!” cried out Erina from the sidelines. Runch darted his gaze to the women just in time to witness three knives flying straight for him, constructed of some undefinable energy. The combination of his fatigue, being taken off guard, and the added weight of his ironclad determined his short term fate: all three constructs hit their mark. The blades of ephemeral energy pierced into the chest plate of Runch’s armor, the force of which knocked him off balance.

As Runch’s backside hit the ground, Juniper came rushing toward his position with a mighty leap and sprint. He struggled to get back on his feet before she arrived, but only managed to move his palms into place and lift up into a pseudo-sitting position. Reflexively he attempted to swing his spoonsaber to fend the woman off, only to find he had lost grip of his weapon for what must have been the umpteenth time this day. Consequently Juniper’s fist struck Runch in the face, knocking him back down to the ground. The armor protected him from direct damage, but he was near certain the sudden jolt and impact left him with a concussion. Rather than a one-armed maiden above him, Runch saw stars.

“I said stop!” screamed the fox woman, hurling a ball of mostly-harmless blue flame at the shrine maiden to force her attention. Juniper pivoted around to face Erina and dodged out of the way, narrowly missing the flame by mere centimeters. In response the rosary on her person reacted, sending a wave of energy flying toward the kitsune. Erina, completely blindsided by this unexpected and bizarre counterstrike, took the brunt of the wave to her shoulder and fell to the ground. Lifting herself up enough to be able to meet Juniper’s eyes, she spoke. “We agreed to let them have a one on one duel, and Runch won! Why are you getting involved now?”

Juniper mentally rolled her eyes at the question. “I have no intentions of having my soul stolen a second time. That my goal means this suffering will instead be placed upon you is regretful, but one must look after oneself.”

The shrine maiden was, perhaps, overconfident in the blow she had struck to Runch’s head. He was recovering his vision, and blinking rapidly now to adjust. Meanwhile, Erina continued to hold off Juniper’s assault with continued debate. “Your partner showed honor in his battle. What right do you have to step in like this?”

“It is true that his pride will likely earn me his ire once he wakes up,” Juniper spoke maintaining her cool disposition. “But I do what must be done. He had his honorable duel, and now I finish this. Of course, if you feel so inclined then you are welcome to stop me.”

“Don’t count me out yet, lass! Omnomnomnom!” Suddenly Juniper felt a pit in the center of her stomach. He wasn’t knocked unconscious? How?! She twisted back around, fist ready to slam into the pirate one more time to keep him down, but he was already in action. “Bori bori volcano!”

Though he was still prone, Runch erupted straight upward, a mountain of cereal propelling him from below. With finely honed battle senses, Juniper pulled back before the Krunch Kaptain’s leg smacked right into her face, but this fight wasn’t over yet. Runch had not escaped, and she wasn’t giving up so easily. Throwing out her hand, Juniper manifested a long chain with a hooked end, sending it flying up after the injured captain. Still rising and looking the wrong way, the chain hooked onto his ankle.

“Uh-oh,” remarked the captain, looking at the current situation. Juniper gave a mighty tug, and he had to act fast before the wave of force reached him. Reaching out, Runch manifested a replica of his trustee spoonsaber and sliced down! It was not the hook-chain of energy that he targeted, but the armor he had crafted around his leg! Targeting the weaker joint, the serrated edge of his weapon sawed and crumbled the hard, dense cereal armor into a separate segment. Just in time, the slack of the chain pulled taut, yanking the boot of armor clean from Runch’s foot.

“That was close! Omnomnom!”

Juniper narrowed her eyes. His ability to continue making that cereal of his despite his injuries was bothersome, but he was still fatigued. She was fresh. Not to mention her ace in the hole, should it be necessary.

Reaching the apex of his launch, Runch twisted himself in the air to face his new enemy down below. The options ran through his mind as to what exactly he could do. Hellberry grapeshot? Cyril was nearby unconscious, so that was an unacceptable risk. Firehose? The force would propel him back and throw off his aim, too unreliable. Throw his sword? No, wait, that was stupid. Throwing your sword never works. Think Runch, think!

Her focus is away from you, Erina. We could end this quickly.

“We could… But not like that, Bend. We’ve got to keep an eye… On the perfect opening…” Erina stood up with some effort, rubbing the injured shoulder.

Have it your way, then.

Juniper maintained an eagle-like gaze over the pirate high up in the air above her. She couldn’t reliably do anything from their current positions, and he was certain to throw some manner of counter attack at her. Whatever it was, she was skilled and disciplined and strong enough to meet it.

“I’ve got it!” Runch shouted with glee, just as he began the downward descent brought on by gravity. “Take this! My ultimate attack, my final recipe! Bori bori!” Runch clapped his hands together, fingers and palms extended outward, facing down directly at his opponent. A small kernel of yellow cereal began to form, and rapidly grow outward larger and larger. Baseball size, bowling ball, office desk, it kept growing until it reached the size of a small house!

“Gigante cannon!” The Cereal Killer thrust his attack forward, an absolutely stunning display of his goofy powers. If it were as dense and hard as his normal cannon technique, it would no doubt flatten everything it collided with.

“So much for not wanting to kill,” muttered Juniper, holding up her arm to the oncoming threat. It looks like I’ll be using this sooner than I had thought. The paper seals wrapping the maiden’s arm unraveled as she released their power over her. The seals fluttered down to the ground as her arm began to glow and crackle with raw, untamed power.

There it is, thought Runch. The God Hand power described in the journal! He couldn’t help but grin in a goofy manner. This was exciting to see in person!

Bracing herself, Juniper took a standing leap up toward the massive cereal cannonball. She could not allow this thing to make landfall! “AAAAAAAARGH!” cried the woman who summoned all her might into the strike. Several meters high in the air, her fist met with the grainy, crusted outside of the weapon. Two mighty forces had finally collided!

“Recipe: Marshmallow Surprise!” Runch called out, somewhere behind the behemoth attack.

“Now is my opportunity, Bend!” Erina cried out.

Juniper’s mighty God Hand sank right into the cereal ball. “What?!” she cried out, her face distorting in surprise. Cracks formed from the force of her blow, and cereal crumbled away into dust. Beneath was not more grain and wheat, but a white sticky mess! The marshmallow blew apart, raining down large goopy clods, sticking to everything they touched. There at the epicenter of the mushy explosion, Juniper was covered in the gunk and thrown back down to earth, for a relatively safe and soft landing.

Jostled from the ordeal, Juniper stood up a few seconds later, shaking the pain away from her head. With her God Hand it was child’s play to pull herself out of the mushy goo that would have kept a lesser warrior trapped, but as soon as she recovered her senses, the maiden’s heart sank. About thirty feet away was Runch, pulling Cyril out of the marshmallow goop, and reaching for his phylactery.

No.” It was not a cry of desperation, but a soft declaration heard only by herself. She rushed forward, her excess strength giving her tremendous speed to work with. Her target only had but a fraction of a second to realize she was coming before Juniper had plowed straight through him, blasting through his body as though he weren’t even there. Wait, what?! Juniper turned round only to see that Runch and Cyril were no longer there. She didn’t blow right through him, he was never there to begin with!

“An explosion and a fall can really disorient you, huh?” Juniper cocked her head in the direction of the voice. Erina was sitting nearby, her fur providing a pseudo-camouflage to the marshmallow gunk everywhere.

“An illusion.” It wasn’t a question. Juniper instantly realized the situation. She was aware of her mistake. Off in the other direction she could see Runch, the real Runch, pulling Cyril free. He already had the vanguard’s phylactery in hand. She had failed. The shrine maiden took a deep breath, preparing herself for the inevitable pain, and took her failure with grace.
It is now day 9 since my last update. I missed call outs by two days, so that’s a little extra time for you guys. :P On the hero side of things we have @Lugubrious, @solokolos for Epsilon, @Yoshua171, and @T2wave. On the villain side of things we only have @Yoshua171 and @AngelofOctober. You’ve got five days to get something up or to let me know what’s going on. :)
Most of the enemy crew hadn't yet seen the results, as they were still hiding like cowards from their own doctor. It took a few seconds after hearing the referees' decrees for the first of the pirates to even risk taking a peak from out under the seats. "I don't believe it," he muttered, inspiring others to follow suit and take their own look. Whispers took over the hall, growing rapidly into a worried chattering. Clearly that had begun to lose faith in their ability to keep control over this competition.

"They beat Mr. Sledge! It may have been a tie, but they beat him!"

"I'm not feeling so great about this whole thing. Our officers have faced off against five different pirate crews in these contests before and never lost!"

"Maybe we should just go back to the mar-" That pirate had been suddenly punched across the face by Bullet Bill, and sent flying into the wall.

"We don' go back, ye'hear?! None'f us." In that instant the man had regained control of his men, who nodded and gulped. "We chose these contests over a big fight fer a reason, remember? Now quit yer moanin'! If we win, we win! If we lose, we lose! Dere's no shame init!"

"Ever since you took over these men, they've all gotten soft!" bellowed a voice from behind the door. It kicked open, revealing the cigar-chomping man with the tiger striped coat, carrying Greave over his shoulder. Greave was still unconscious from his boxing match with Hachirou, while his savior was visibly angry. Veins bulged throughout his face, and his skin was darkening to be almost as orange as the tiger skin he wore.

Bill shifted his attention. "If'n ye think yer still top sea dog here, ye can prove it. Finish the rest o'the challengers, an' I'll step down for ye." The top-heavy man merely shrugged, like this sort of thing was perfectly normal.

The other man's eye twitched, then narrowed. "Fine," he growled. "Catch!" He rolled Greave off his shoulder and down his arm, catching the unconscious man by the top of his pants. Then he wound up his arm, and hurled Greave across the hall up to Bill, who caught Greave in both arms and set him down gently. A few of the pirates crept up closer to get a better look.

"Look at that! Yeah, that lion man is seriously scary!"

"No kidding, Greave is the best swimmer here but he looks like he almost drowned!"

"Hey! Focus! Setup my arena!" The cigar man barked, and the underlings jumped to attention.

"Right away, capta-errr, first mate!" A dozen pirates ran around the hall, clearing the climbing ropes and debris from previous matches, setting up chalk lines, and getting out two nets which were placed on opposite ends. Once everything was said and done, the hall had been made up to look like a field for...

"Football is my game! And the name is Lance. Lance Pike. Who's up to kick a ball around?"

One of the pirates rolled a cannonball across the floor, here Pike stopped it by placing his foot on top. He shed his tiger striped coat, which was grabbed out of the air by one of the Buccaneers before it hit the ground, and crossed his arms. "Rules are simple, and similar to the dodgeball game. One on one, this cannonball is our game ball. First to kick it into the opponent's goal three times wins, and of course absolutely no use of hands whatsoever."

"State your name, soldier! State your na-" And that's as much as Dirk could hear before the den den mushi was, very cruelly, tossed out the window. Oh well, it would be fine, wouldn't it? Snails can survive in water just fine, right? Right.

Just as Dirk turned to talk to Smith, the ninja seemed to already be standing right behind him. The pirates he had been fighting? All on the ground, unconscious. Except for one guy. He was hanging from the bookcase by his underwear, but the pain was so excruciating that he couldn't talk. His face had gone deep purple, so that was pretty hilarious.

"The marines are coming? Crap. Well hopefully they'll take longer to get here than it'll take to register this island on your captain's log pose." Smith wandered over to where the tattered and vandalized marine flag hung up on the wall. He began taking it down and folding it up. "I guess if not, we'll just have to fight them off, right? Maybe these assholes will even help to save their own skins, heheheheheh."

Once he finished folding up the flag, he slipped it into his pockets and gestured for the door. "They've got more men leftover and patrolling than I thought. If we don't get moving fast, someone else is going to discover we've been here. Maybe someone who isn't a total moron who will raise the alarm before fighting us. We should move."
