Now, if oni could learn actual magic, he'd actually be invested in his studies, but, well...yeah...

Seriously though, why would familiars go to a SCHOOL, when they will never learn magic? Sounds like it'd make more sense if they just teamed up with already-established mages.

Well, why not? They could certainly do that. But what already established mage would want a familiar that doesn't even understand the basics of how magic or have a decent grasp of their own abilities?

Besides, most already established mages probably already have some pretty powerful familiars.

And they don't have to study, they can work too if they do not want a master.
