Jake back on the otters pocket subject "Ok what did they look like, how many of them were there, and would you know there names by any......." Jake noticed ShiZhen wasn't as near as concerned as he was and decided to explain. " An 'otters pocket' is another word for 'girl parts' and a 'pocket otter' is another word for 'boy parts' that is why this is a big deal. number one that is rude, disrespectful, and straight out bullying and number two they were being rude, disrespectful, and bullying 'you' and nobody messes with my Shi." Jake grabbed ShiZhen in a bear hug.

"And on the sparing with the head master note that's for when I get better with my element and besides I probably wouldn't win but it's better to learn when your put in a situation where you have to learn in order to survive. It's like when I learned to swim, I just jumped in the creek, it was swim or drown and so I learned to swim pretty quick. Now... Jake noticed they were still soaked and he was still warm."Ok you have ten seconds to take all the electronics out of your pockets if there not already soaked 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...times up!" A huge smile ran across Jake's face as he picked ShiZhen up, ran over to the fountain, and dropped her in. Jake nodded to the other students that were there and then jumped in the fountain as well. "CANNON BALL!!!"

"Th-they sat behind me during the assembly. I didn't turn around to look at them..." ShiZhen replied, while in his hug. Though she was never one to break propriety and hug or let others hug her, with Jake it was different, he was practically a brother to her and besides, there was no stopping his spontaneity.

On his statement about sparring, ShiZhen began protesting, ""B-But there must be safer ways to..." but she was thrown off by his statement about electronics. "I-I've already waterproofed all my...wait...ten seconds...? Eh? Eeeeeeeeehhhhh!?" She yelled as Jake picked her up and splashed them both into the fountain. Disoriented, confused, and having the time of her life, ShiZhen giggled and smiled. Jake always had a knack for taking her mind off of the worries that plagued her, that is, until she heard someone say:

"Why does it always have to be so messy?" She blurted out. "Why can't everything just be in order?"


A cold washed over ShiZhen, pushing away the warm feelings. Turning to the girl with long, black hair, ShiZhen stammered an apology, "I-I'm s-sorry!" Looking around she saw a bunch of people at the fountain, noticing that she had gotten many of them wet, including a boy with an expensive-looking camera. "I-I'm really sorry! I-is everyone okay? Nothing broken?" With glasses askew and wet clothes clinging to her, ShiZhen stood up only trembling legs to give help to anyone who needed it or to take blame from anyone who wanted to give it. It didn't matter to her that it was technically Jake who caused the splash; first of all, she would never throw him under the bus like that, and secondly, the fact that she was present at a time when people were being inconvenienced made her default into guilt-mode.



Catherine floated above the campus grounds when she suddenly heard a loud splash by the fountain. Moving closer, she saw a gaggle of students splashing or getting splashed. She also noticed Jordan nearby and decided to let him handle it while she observed, though she made no attempt to hide and was ready to jump in if he called her down. For the time being, watching these young people have their fun and awkward moments was nothing but pure amusement for her.

Sorry, having too much fun on the weekend to get a post up (the actual reason is less funny). But I will try to get a post up soonish, hopefully tonight.

"Well we could go outside if you want, maybe explore the forest and look for a river, and otters don't have pockets normally but I'm sure they could grow one as a....wait did someone say 'otters pocket' or 'pocket otter' to you? If so you show me who because I need to have an unpleasant conversation with...." Jake started getting more and more peeved the more he thought about it until he noticed the moisture all over ShiZhen and stopped.

Then he started whispering "Your doing that thing again, drawing water from the air and covering yourself with moisture. I can't make the moisture stop but I can do this." Jake then warmed the blood in his body raising his temperature and causing him to sweat...allot... Then he spoke a little louder then his normal vocals "Hey Shi there's allot of bodies in here raising the temperature and I'm sweating all over the place even the floor let's go outside and get some fresh air."

"I-it's just something I heard some boys calling me from behind during the assembly. ShiZhen said, unsure what about the term was eliciting such a reaction from Jake. When he whispered to her, ShiZhen tried to calm her nerves, having noticed a correlation between being anxious and becoming wet, whispering back a 'thanks'. Going along with his bluff, she followed Jake outside. "I-I don't think you should spar with the headmaster; he seems...dangerous.

"You're both very welcome," Catherine replied. Seeing that the girls seemed to want to explore the grounds more, she let them go on their way, and resumed her patrol of the field. She would continue to do this, occasionally greeting students or pointing them in the right direction if they were looking for a particular location. Thinking on her responsibilities, she smiled to herself as the thought of Jordan Manilow's impending speech crossed her mind.

Hey no worries! Glad you're back. I too have moments where life/work hit me like a truck and I can't really take the time to sit down to write a decent post for days (read as 'weeks').

In his introspective mood, it took Ochre a good few seconds to realize that he was being addressed, his topaz gaze opening to the blue sky above as he discerned the voice that had called upon him. "Altissima. Yo," the armormsmith replied back with a dull tone, merely tilting his head back from its place on the cart's armrest to view the enchanter upsidedown. "Here for the dungeon? Good seeing you."

At the sound of his master's voice, the stallion finally began to rise to its hooves, shaking under its own weight as the large, stocky horse rose to all fours. With a regretful sigh, knowing that his reply to the enchanter had broken the peace that had fallen over steed and master, Ochre pulled himself upright with a pained groan, sitting up in his cart seat with a lethargic glance towards the metal harness for his horse. "Don't matter. Gonna lend a hand with this? Heading to town for raiding party."

Tessa's brow furrowed for no particular reason, it was merely a natural response of hers, indicating the tiny bit of stress she always felt when having a normal human interaction. She did appreciate that he always took the effort to say 'Altissima' in full, even though he left out 'Ailanthus'. Not that it mattered; she felt very little attachment to the name as it was merely something she chose that had a minimal likelihood of being taken.

"I was just selling enchantments at the Lawn. Almost out of Crystal Powder though," Tessa said monotonously, mostly to herself, "I suppose if you're heading down into the dungeon, I might join you." Tessa assumed Ochre already had a group ready to be joined, a poorly-thought out assumption considering that it went against everything she knew about him and his tendency to let things fall into place rather than plan ahead. Letting out a sigh, Tessa decides to help him with his horse's harness. She told herself that she wasn't a helpful person, but she knew that with Ochre, one of the few ways to make him move just a bit faster was to pull some of his weight, and she didn't want to crawl the last few yards into town at a snail's pace only get to the lawn at sundown and find that Ochre's party had left, too impatient to wait for him.

@Stern Algorithm Our resident, venerable lord of light? I'm thinking of some really old dude who had probably been teaching since Reyes was a student lol. Hmm should I reply? It seems like it's @Pseudo Stygian's turn though.


There's actually a joke/reference in the made-up Light Teacher's name and title. Brownie points to anyone who figures it out.

@Stern Algorithm A potentially villainous teacher eh? You're giving me some Soul Eater flashbacks here Stern.


Kind of the opposite, actually, while Medusa (who I assume you're referring to) is actively plotting and intending harm on her students, Catherine is 'burned out'. She's experienced evil, both regimented and subordinate (in her militant terrorist group) as well as chaotic and leading (as a crime lord), but neither zeal nor greed could give her a place she belonged. Catherine is a 'retired villain' who's resigned herself to defeat and is only really interested in the intricacies of young, developing minds, in a way, trying to find out where she went wrong from her students.

Since I left Catherine's backstory pretty empty and vague, I was wondering if it's OK that she was an elementalist terrorist that broke out of her organization and became a crime lord? A young wind elementalist who was convinced of Elementalist Superiority, enlisted, and used as a weapon against non-elementalists. However disagreements with the leadership would cause her to leave the militant group only to then use her natural talent, cunning, and charm to build her own little criminal empire until she was finally taken down by Kano and other teachers. She sold Kano intel on elementalist terrorist groups for amnesty. She's more-or-less reformed and plays along quite nicely, but she has a strong desire to nurture independence in her students rather than discipline, believing that everyone has a right to be selfish, within reason. It also explains her calm confidence and potentially snobby nature (which has yet to be shown). Maybe some of the other teachers still fear and/or hate her, since she gives elementalists a bad name.

You can bet that Kano would have made use of Jordan's unique talents in taking down Catherine and bringing her around to the good guys! However unlike other more predictable teachers, Manilow would probably have found Catherine to be quite alluring, if obviously a bit on the dangerous side. Whether anything came of that depends on what you would think Stern, but I mean hey? I find it pretty fun when the mentors in stories have histories, especially with each other. ;) ;) Nudge, nudge.


Not to be needlessly grim, but Kano lacks the required humanity to believe you were capable of forgiveness.

To summarize the punishment: stripped of your second soul and thus your connection to the wind, then exiled if not outright killed. Information or not.

Im not saying you cant have done what you said but make sure Kano isnt the one who caught you.

Ok, coming back to this conversation, Catherine was not taken down by Kano, instead, she was betrayed by someone in her organization and, having lost everything and left for dead, has a chance encounter with Jordan. With nothing left to lose, she spills her guts and, after finding out that Jordan works as a teacher for the draconian Kano Hargor, fully expects to be killed on the spot. Jordan shows mercy and helps Catherine back on her feet, ultimately convincing her to become a teacher like him. Catherine probably found solace in Jordan's companionship, if you know what I mean. While she is on friendly terms with him, she is a bit ashamed of her relationship with him as it reminds her of her lowest point in life, and she has since put some professional distance between herself and him. This doesn't mean she won't tease or flirt with him on occassion, but she needs to feel like she's the one in control and not emotionally dependent on him. In other words, she likes giving Jordan the Blue Balls :P

Her 'villain' name was Breathtaker, and her true focus is vacuums. Her signature technique is creating a vacuum around a victim which causes asphyxiation, disorientation, and pain as the liquids and gases in the body try to evaporate in a pressure-free environment. This is followed by releasing the vacuum, resulting in an implosion that is like getting hit with a cannonball. This process is called cavitation, think Mantis Shrimp.

Is this acceptable?

It took her a second before she could hone back to the real world. She glanced at her new friend, who was still waiting patiently. "Oh, right! I'm Lyra, and this is Vera. We're, umm, my friend and I are thinking of exploring the academy. Do you know of any interesting place, err, Ms. Hargreaves?"


Vera addressed Catherine again. "Oh, would you happen to know anything about the light element? Or is there anywhere I can go to get some help on that?"


"It's a pleasure to have you both at this academy," Catherine said, glad to see the look of wonder and curiosity in their eyes. "There are many natural biomes to explore around the campus, from forests to cliffs to lakes, even tunnels, active lava zones, and hot springs. While air elementalists tend to prefer places with some altitude to practice their art, it is only your first day here, and nobody is expected to start training before having had any instruction. Personally, I like visiting the hot springs after a long journey; it does wonders for the skin and will keep you young and healthy." Turning to Vera, "Light is a fascinating element. You might want to seek out Mr. R. Hellor, our resident, venerable lord of light. Although, I've personally found that understanding the scientific principles behind an element can help a student grasp the concepts of elemental manipulation in innovative ways that are sometimes better than direct mentorship. For example, both light and sound have wave properties, imagine what unique ways you two could express your gifts if you collaborated with each other?"



As the headmaster turned to show off his regenerative abilities to another student Jake turned to ShiZhen "Don't worry it's just the head master I heard he's not really a living person maybe he's held together by his elemental power. That would be pretty awesome and don't worry if someone tries doing anything like that to you I'll kick there ass." Then Jake heard the head master speaking and turned back around still in between ShiZhen and the head master. After the head master welcomed the students Jake bowed as well "Thank you head master your freaking awesome dude I wanna be able to spare with you one day so I guess I better get good at regenerating." Jake smiled while putting up his fist with a rock on gesture.

Then Jake turned back around to ShiZhen. "So where do you wanna go first?"


"Eehh? Not really alive?!" ShiZhen cringed, worried that she had signed up for something that was far beyond her. She didn't want to fight, she didn't want to encounter undead, she just want to get her dripping under control. In response to Jake's question, ShiZhen said, "I don't know, J, maybe someplace with some fresh air." She knew she could sure use some to get over her mounting anxiety. Then she remembered something, "J, do otters have pockets?"
