Keeping an RP alive is as much the players' responsibility as it is the GM's.

The most important period in an RP's life is when the responses start to slow after the initial honeymoon phase. This is THE deciding time for whether or not an RP dies.

HELLO MY NAME IS STONE AND I LOVE FANTASY - ALL SORTS OF IT - ALL MY RPs ARE FANTASY

OH I LOVE PALADINS TOO. THERE'S NOTHING COOLER THAN A PARAGON OF JUSTICE AND VIRTUE
LIST OF IDIOTS I LOVE INCLUDING DESCRIPTIONS FUCK YOU AVI
FYI, mentions break after a certain number of them are slammed into a single post. And with 4 to 7 outta all these people, what's the criteria and such? Whether or not we read Helck?
We’d like a diverse party, don’t worry about picking the same Arcana as someone else (most can be tweaked to fit another). Plus general review of sheet quality and writing and the like. it’s holistic.
Also reading Helck is sadly not a requirement, but if it were, you and hatakekuro would be in instantly lmfao
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN PEOPLE SHOULDN'T READ HELCK haha people should read helck because it's goat raw peak kino fiction, not cuz their GMs love it
please don’t worry about it too much, the group size number is not concrete
Welcome to the OOC! I'm stone, your GM, and Aviaire is my lovely CoGM. Please direct any questions you have to us. If you want to PM us on the Guild, include both of us in the recipient line. On discord, you can DM me @stone#2804, though you might have to friend me first, and I'll make a group chat. Also, Avi hasn't finished Persona 5 yet, and IDK fully about others applying to the RP, so try to keep spoilers to a minimum.
We're looking for a small/medium group of people, anywhere from 4-7 players, though the number isn’t concrete yet.
Sea of Unconscious
The collective unconscious, coined by Carl Jung in 1916, argues that humans, alongside the personal unconscious, exhibit a “collective” unconscious wherein common dreams, myths, symbols, and other motifs appear constantly in individuals’ thoughts as a result of various traditions, expectations, and other excitements. These symbols are referred to as “Jungian archetypes,” and they form the basis of the idea of a collective unconscious. These archetypes are thought to shape our perceptions, thoughts, and behaviors in profound ways, and are seen as a way to understand the underlying psychological dynamics of the human experience.
There is more to the concept than the simple description above, but for the purposes of a Persona RP, it’s enough. We won’t be getting into too much psychology (unless your characters really really want to), but having the baseline knowledge is nice. The Palaces in P5 represent the personal unconscious of their rules, while P4’s TV world and P5’s Mementos both represent the collective unconscious.
The Sea of Unconscious is this RP’s way of characterizing the personal and collective unconscious in order to provide a lovely setting for shadow-fighting, bond-strengthening, and pun-making. The great big ocean represents the collective, the islands represent the personal. Early on in the RP, the party will acquire a means to travel the Sea of Unconscious. Story arcs will entail sailing to and from islands, searching for ship upgrades, and fighting bad guys.
In terms of greater theming, the focus of the RP will be isolation and connection, with a touch of personal truth. Your characters will be dealing with the barriers of communications, individual ways to build and maintain relationships, and the power of friendship. Feel free to use these themes as a guide when building your character, though it’s not necessary—Persona games generally touch on many, many different ideas beyond their central focus, and this RP will likely do the same.
Harbour Academy
Harbour is a small city on the coast of southeast England, with Harbour Academy for Gifted Adolescents and Youths located about 45 minutes away, looking over the sea. HAGAY is an international boarding school filled with students from affluent backgrounds from all over the globe, although its generous scholarship programme is always an option for those who can’t afford the price tag.
(it’s an international school so i don’t have to relive a levels) Select one of five subject groups: language & literature, arts, sciences, mathematics, humanities. Classes are allocated according to the groups with a little bit of overlap.
[School Culture]
Competition is the most important part of Harbour Academy - each course has biweekly exams, the results of which are ranked and posted publicly, not to mention the pressure on scholarship students to maintain their funding. This atmosphere is further encouraged by the school, with competitions being an integral part of the school’s identity, and not just in academics - sports, drama and music as well.
Although the majority of people pretend to not care about social standing, the identities of one’s parents can have a large impact on your social life at Harbour Academy. In general, many students are very wealthy. Even most of the scholarship students are from families with money - just not at the level where paying the full tuition is either justifiable or possible. People in the city can be a little hostile towards Harbour Academy students.
On a lighter note, although the school is uniformed, the regulations are fairly relaxed, so modifying uniforms has become very popular amongst students, especially the wealthy ones. Cropped skirts, funny looking socks, cardigans, hoodies… it’s all there! That said, it’s somehow impossible to get away with not tucking your shirt in.
[Facilities]
The school has many fancy facilities, including a 25m pool, a well-equipped personal fitness centre, a large library, a 300-seat auditorium, a boathouse and dock, and even an 1860s-era chapel.
[Extracurriculars]
Students are free to form their own clubs if they can meet a member requirement and convince a faculty member to oversee. Sports include lacrosse, rowing, cricket, and football. The school’s drama and music programs are highly celebrated as well. The two main drama clubs compete at the end of the school year in an event known as the Curtain Cup.
Drama clubs: Harbour Stars - Glitzy, glamourous, ginternal conflicts, that’s Harbour Stars! A group focused around entertaining the masses first and foremost. Boasting a large number of former members going on to become large talents in theatre and cinema, Harbour Stars is the go-to for anyone who wants to become, well, a star! (The nepotism sure helps.)
Harbour Academy Theatrical Society (HATS) - A much more serious, performance oriented group but no less successful. Their standards are high, greatly valuing accuracy to the source as well as the quality of acting, and some say that their auditions can be more stress-inducing than the actual academic element of HAGAY life.
[Dorms]
All students at Harbour Academy live at the school, separated by gender and year group. Although there is a curfew of 11pm, it isn’t too heavily enforced and finding new ways to sneak out of the historic buildings is a favourite pastime of the students. Just don’t get caught!
Meta stuff
Standard Guild rules apply, don’t be dumb, don’t be a bigot.
We don’t have any length requirements for posts, even if this is a Casual RP. Write as much as you need or feel up to. Tiny posts are better than no posts! We don’t care about double posting either lol.
Here’s the character sheet, don’t make any of the sections too long or we will cry - if you have any cool ideas you’d want to include, you're free to DM us. We don’t have an explicit section for ultimate personas but it would be nice to think about the direction you might want to take your character in. Also, maybe don’t make a Navigator character. We got that covered already.
picture here character info Name:
What it says on the tin!
Arcana:
Anything but: Fool, Judgement, World.
Birthday:
(Slightly recommend against early september or we won't get to celebrate it) :(
Appearance:
Extra description: notable physical traits, additional details like how they wear their uniform etc.
Reputation:
What do other people tend to think of them?
Background:
A brief summary of what their life has been like.
Misc. :
Everything else, in case you want to tell us what food we can flanderize your character with.
persona info Weapon:
If you can justify how you can hurt someone with it, then it's fine!
Persona:
Name, maybe an appearance, and some detail.
Moveset:
Brief description of what element/skills you'd have (don't need to be super specific we're not doing numbers).
OLD APPS IF YOU WANT THE HUB (graciously provided by TGM):
Persona: Maui Personality: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Maui is unironically a great idea. There are loads of Pacific Islander gods that can easily fit the purposes of this RP.
Wanna steal Charon but making the death arcana work thematically without making a contrived as fuck tragic backstory is a pain.
The Death arcana is not just about actual Death, but in tarot readings indicates a major change in life/fresh start. You can always make it about that instead.
I wonder if using Odysseus would be ok, after all he already appeared in Persona 2, granted that was his only appearance in the series and he works very well with the theme of loneliness and distance.
Any personas that have already appeared in the series can totally be reused, and you can absolutely rewrite any existing persona/demon lore to fit your needs. If you're unsure about anything, just ask.
maybe part 2: erode orbiter edition
in the end, all of us are ERode orbiters. He's the only real person on the guild, after all. The rest of us are just bots.
This could be genuinely interesting! As a recent P5 convert, I’d like to throw my hat in the ring. What roles are still available? A Master Gunner or Quartermaster could be a lot of fun.
No real set roles, at least, not yet. this is a bunch of high schoolers. We’re not gonna be accepting a full crew of ship members, either. Too many cooks sink the ship, or something…
