HIKARI RYODAN ACADEMY

When the world was brought into the Dark Ages by the Great Witch, turmoil blanketed the skies. Pestilence and horror lay in wake of every which way the Great Witch was strewn. Its influence corroding and presence encompassing, it was only by a shining miracle that the Great Witch was beaten back into the Abyss. Warriors of all races and backgrounds, of the humane and supernatural, banded together to cast the creature away from the world and save it.

These were the first Dawn Slayers. And centuries later, the world has been rebuilt and rejuvenated under the dutiful eye that continues to protect the world. Times have changed however. A peaceful cooperation between humanity and the paranormal has been established via the Dawn Slayers and academies have sprung up all over for the sake of fostering a new generation.

Enter Hikari Ryodan Academy: A pristine school created and headed by the Head Magister, a mage considered to be the strongest of our time. Its purpose is to train Dawn Slayers as well as maintain the balance of the world. The duties of a Dawn Slayer now vary greatly. One's task could be as simple as guiding a lost spirit back to the afterlife or as challenging as slaying a demon that threatens mankind. All culminate into keeping the balance of the world as it should be.

Hikari is open to a roster of different and unique creatures with equally unique backgrounds, and welcomes all students who are willing to learn. From mages, humans, and other beings of the paranormal, Hikari is a school that seeks to harmonize all beings in its student body. Make friends, combat the shadows, and carry on. Your life at Hikari Ryodan Academy has only just begun.

Welcome to your new home, the glorious Hikari Ryodan Academy. It is here where you will be under the instruction of the Head Magister and the rest of the staff here in Hikari. Each of you will receive your own dorms and will be taught in the ways of the Dawn Slayer to protect the balance of the World and keep the forces of the chaos from running rampant.

However, a demonic and dark force is rising, overbearing the world as we know it. Hikari Ryodan Academy is strangely receiving more and more students than ever before, suggesting a shift in the paranormal balance. Soon, mysterious occurrences begin happening to students, and rumors are spreading that chaos is afoot. The forces of evil are rising in rebellion, and leading them is an ancient enemy. The only thing keeping this world in balance now is the future generation of Dawn Slayers. The students of Hikari.

Somewhere in the countryside of a dark nation in the brink of great revolution lies a city, like many others of its kind, so small to the point that it would have being forgotten long ago where it not for its rich coal mines, prime fuel for the factories of a rising Industrial Age. In this city, so small that it may as well be still called a village, there exists an old mansion over a steep hill overlooking a lake so still that even the smallest stone cast on its waters is said to cause ripples noticeable through all of it.

This mansion is known as the Rivianne Solaire, owned for generations by the Rivianne family, the lords in charge of the valley where both the city and its coal mines are located. In recent years, about as soon as the coal began to take an ever expanding share of the local economy, the owners of this sinister state have been seen outside of their residence with little frequency. In fact, no one has seen the Count Gregorius Rivianne, his wife, children; any who ever went to the Rivianne Solaire has come back the same —if they come back at all, for the whole of the past two years.

In face of such a story, it's no wonder that tales saying that the old mansion is cursed began to spread around the region. However, they are widely disbelieved by the local populace, since their whole living depends on the mines owned by the Riviannes, they can't afford to spread ill rumor about their lords. Food, drink and mail still reach the mansion, and life keeps going as normal.

Not very long after the Riviannes retirement into isolation, a legend —more consistent than any of the others— began to circulate among the locals. It's said that during the New Moon, any who find their way to the old mansion and manages to make it back will be granted riches an power far beyond anything they can imagine. Other stories say that such people are consumed by an unfathomable darkness. This and many other rumors hang over the Rivianne Solaire, tarnishing it as much as the ashes and fumes of the coal which became the city's black blood.

Introduction

Welcome to the Rivianne Solaire, a place where the limits of your sanity, that which make you yourself, shall be tested. Here, every shadow holds unspeakable dark secrets, but not everything you see or hear may be true.

Through the force of Fate, a group of people from different walks of life found their way to the cursed mansion during a stormy night of the New Moon. Stranded there, with no way to go back to the nearby city until the weather gets better, their minds began to play tricks on them —or so it looked— strange sounds and lights and voices coming from nowhere.

It's just a matter of time until they began to lose their very minds, their sense of self and memories vanishing as if they were being sucked through the great proboscis of an horrifyingly enlarged insect. How long will they be able to endure while searching for a way out of this land of nightmares?

Gradon takes pride in his standard outfit, which he feels is the most effective in both combat and leisure. Of course, there are times when the sun beats down and it does get stuffy wearing that coat everywhere. When that happens, he just tries to smile and sweat it out. It’s had mixed results so far.

— "What’s a….Kirito?"

Gradon’s history is nothing too spectacular. Simply put, he wanted to be a hunter who slayed monsters and protect people. Though he tended to lean more towards traditional knight mannerisms and customs, it did not deter his want to help people and thus began this career as a student of Cadenza Imperial Military Academy.

Beforehand, his family told him constantly that one must hone their body at all costs to become a strong warrior of the Empire. Gradon took this literally, eager to train his fighting skills day and night to the point where he could be considered a prodigy in the field of combat. Unfortunately, this has made his social skills suffer tremendously to the point where the simplest of things can stump Gradon if it’s not connected to fighting in some way. Like trying to open a door.

Because of his appearance and efficiency in fighting, he’s been given the nickname of “Not-Kirito”. It’s a shame he doesn’t really know what that means nor does he fully understand the reference all too well, but he’s more than happy to learn. As an eager student, he’s always tried to be open-minded of many things and become an overall nice guy. Often however this kindness dips into nativity and just lack of common sense. But such is the life of a student.

Gradon’s Vessel is named Round Table, taking the shape of a dark purple bracelet located on his right wrist. The bracelet itself is intricately designed to look like a snake consuming its own tail; the universal sign of Ouroboros. When in its active state, Round Table takes the form of a single-edged greatsword.

— "Thank you for allowing me to attack."

⛨ Rebuttal: By successfully parrying or blocking an oncoming attack, Round Table can then inflict the same amount of damage or force right back at the enemy almost instantly. However, this ability can only work when defending against physical close-combat attacks, such as sword strikes. If one were to carelessly slash at a defensive Gradon, a cut of similar proportion would immediately present itself on the enemy. Unfortunately, this unique power reverts Gradon’s fighting style to retain more defensive capabilities than offensive ones, forcing him to rely solely on counterattacks to fully utilize it.

_{E Q U I P M E N T}

— "Better safe than sorry."

Aside from Round Table, Gradon likes to always carry around his coat. He was warned from an early age about the disasters a proper cold could bring about to the human body and that doctrine has stuck with for all nineteen years of his life. Unless he’s forced to wash the thing, it’s not likely he’ll give the coat up.
