Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

  • Name: Ima Isso
  • Appearance: "Wh-what were you thinking?! Jeez..." She is about 144 cm/4'9.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Demon
  • Age: 18
  • Personality: Ima is a tempermental and irritable girl. She is deeply intolerant of others behaving foolishly, quick to admonish them(and even attempt to dispense her thoughts on just how foolish they were being). She does not shy away from insults, giving them out freely to anyone she thinks is deserving of them, and in general she can be considered rather surly. In spite of this, her attitude is usually only shown when someone is being(at least in her mind) stupid. Ima is also a very serious and studious girl, prone to studying a great deal and taking any duties she is assigned completely seriously. She has a great deal of pride in herself, her studies, and her skills, and part of her irritable nature is born from her belief that no-one should allow themselves to fall to a low standard and should always strive for their highest, as she does. In spite of her irritable nature, there are some people she gets along with quite well. However, there are others who she will unhesitatingly barrage with insults and complaints. While she may put up a strong front, Ima is prone to becoming flustered very easily, and when a situation becomes even remotely embarrassing she is liable to become a blushing, stuttering mess.
  • Abilities: Ima has a high degree of magical capability, though not incredibly impressive. She uses this to make up for her physical frailty. She is physical fragile, lacking in strength and durability, but she utilizes magic in order to reinforce her physical capabilities to the extent that she is capable of denting steel with her punches and resisting damage more effectively. She is also capable of summoning her armor and sword, as well as a set of magical construct swords. These blades are sharp, and dangerous, but break easily and are most useful as projectiles. She can generate five at a time to follow behind her, ready to be launched at any targets at a moment's notice. Ima's speed is also enhanced via magic, allowing her to more easily keep up with targets that are much more naturally physically capable.
  • Equipment: Ima has a set of strong armor she is capable of summoning magically. It resembles something of a very fancy, armored dress. She wields a longsword known as Dragonsbreath, which is capable of channeling mana around its blade or in beams. It is also naturally quite sharp and made of high quality materials.
  • History: Ima was born to a family known for its martial prowess. However, she was born small and fragile, unlike the rest of her family. She never grew very much, and as a result seemed to have a dim future in terms of combat ability. However, she promptly decided to research just what ways she could utilize magic to attempt to make up for her physical weakness. As her family was also renowned for a studious nature, Ima had many volumes on magic at her disposal, and eventually was able to teach herself how to enhance her capabilities via magic. Now able to close the gap between herself and other combatants, Ima studied various other spells, allowing her to summon her armor and sword, as well as magically constructed swords.

Mordred

"Grrr... is that any way to treat your savior, you little bastard?!" Mordred snapped. She'd kept him from... whatever the hell the moth man was going to try and do, but of course he just has to be snarky rather then actually be grateful... Regardless, she quickly turned to face her enemy only to watch as he was bound in some kind of magical pink ribbon. It wasn't hard to guess who'd handled that, but it meant that he couldn't go after Andersen again.

And that he couldn't move. He couldn't dodge or escape.

After pausing only for a moment to listen to his rambling, Mordred rested Clarent on her shoulder and rolled her eyes.

"Blah blah blah," Mordred replied, brushing it off with a wave of her free hand. Like she was going to listen to a single thing this scumbag said. "I don't care how you try to justify it. I don't care at all. You released poison into the air where any innocent person could walk right in and die."

The blonde knight's armored feet clanked against the ground as she approached the man, lowering Clarent off her shoulder. Her expression was grim only for a moment, before turning into a rather vicious grin. She hated this bastard, so the chance to dispense some justice, get rid of the kind of person who didn't care how many people got hurt...

"And you don't even care. Not one bit. If some kid had walked in and choked to death on your poison, you've just brushed it off. So I'm not gonna let you live."

Mordred raised her sword and-

The rest of the day proceeded relatively smoothly.

Fanilly was quite distressed over forgetting about her cousin's arrival. She apologized profusely, and introduced Lyrie to the knights and tried to help her get settled in.

Bethany, for the most part, remained relatively quiet, deeply focused on her research. She left only when it was very late, taking a few volumes with her after discussing it with the librarian.

The night was uneventful. Certainly, it did not herald what the next day brought.

The morning and midday were as normal. Nothing, in particular, seemed to be amiss.

It was about evening when the herald came, however.

Fanilly quickly met them, and was greeted with a horrifying message.

"It's an orc raid, they brought trolls and... and... we don't even know how they got there!" the herald cried frantically. "We've sent a guards, but... but we need you, we need the Iron Roses. Please, help!"

There wasn't really any time to try and figure out how the orcs had managed to show up at a village so near to the capital. Not if the raid was in progress. Brennan was nearby, and named for, the Brennan forest. Perhaps they had used the forest as cover and snuck through there. But regardless of how it had happened, there was absolutely no more time to waste.

"Iron Roses, we must move quickly!" Fanilly declared, as she swiftly moved to the armory. "We must go in force and destroy these orc raiders, the defenders can only hold out so long!"
@Crusader Lord: Hmmm... I'm still kind of unsure mostly because I'm trying to avoid involving deities in this. ^^;

@Noodles: Koishi as appearance is throwing me off a little! Aside from that, it'd be nice if she would have magitech of some kind but she looks acceptable.

@Raineh Daze: Accepted.

@Crimson Paladin: Hmm, after some thought, I think he's a little too steampunk and not enough magitech. No real character issues though.

@Lunar: This... is still kind of standard fantasy. ^^;

@Ixa: Looks good!

@KoL: Accepted.

@Ixa: KoL approached me about the idea for a robot character first, and I think we're pushing it with too many. ^^;

@Lunar: Yes.

@Crusader Lord: I'm a little uncertain about magic directly from deities, let me think about this.
Saber - Arturia Pendragon

Arturia felt her blade bite through the massive whale creature's flesh, discharging a blast of prana directly into the enormous creature. Unfortunately, it failed to pierce any vital areas, instead making the monster thrash and roar in pain. Certainly, repeatedly piercing through it with blasts of prana would eventually fell even a phantasmal beast, but that would take far too long to slay the creature. Keeping her blade firmly lodged in the whale-like creature's flesh in order to avoid being knocked free, the Saber-class Servant noted Ozymandias's advice. Certainly, he was correct. The monster was far too large to rely on regular attack. Targeted assaults on its head or chest were the best way to slay it!

The blonde knight shot to her feet, Excalibur's gleaming form still buried partially in the beast's flesh. Leaning forward, Arturia slammed one armored foot down and erupted forward into a sprint. As she ran, she dragged her sword through the whale creature's flesh, parting it as she ran and sending a spray of blood up in her wake. She could feel it, the massive beast's entire body vibrating with each sound, and as it opened its mouth she could see the light building...!

She wouldn't allow it to attack again!

Saber finally drew her Excalibur out of the monster's flesh as she reached its head, before driving the holy sword point-down directly into its upper jaw, aiming to force its head down and slam its jaws shut!

Pretty uncommon, the most human ones especially are probably very rare.
@KoL: Hmmm... first or last are the ones I immediately lean towards, but I can't decide if I like robot-ninja more or not. Hmmm.

Either one of those would be good really.
