Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Saber

In the time that Saber had taken to finish half of her burger, her Master was already nearly finished. The difference of their appetites was simply astounding it seemed. In any case, she decided to try and wrap up her own meal quickly, to avoid holding anything back. In terms of strategy, the white-haired Servant wanted to know what her Lord desired from her, more or less. Her chief goal was the service of her Master, and in that light the best option she could think of was to understand Isabelle's approach to the Grail War as a whole. That way, she would be capable of fully acting in her Lord's best interests, without any confusion or potential mistakes. Saber didn't want this to end in tragedy.

She wouldn't allow such a sad story to play out again.

"Well..." she paused for a moment, trying to decide how best to articulate her thoughts, "I want to know your approach to the Holy Grail War, my lord."

She gave her Master a small smile.

"I want to be able to use my strength to serve you to my fullest, and so I want to know how you plan to approach this conflict."

Caster

There was only a moment's pause. But soon, from the shadows, motes of dark purple light swirled. They gather, fluttering almost like they had a mind of their own, before joining together to form a dark shape. The blackness coating the form receded, to reveal the true nature of the Servant that had materialized.

Caster smiled at her Master.

"Of course, Master," she said, simply, brushing some of her dark hair aside, "It's important to be aware of every option and every possibility. It will be... difficult to do any direct battle against Servants of the Knight classes, so ideally our partnership should be with one of them. Of course..."

That smile turned quite a bit more predatory.

"This approach also allows us to target any... weak links, so to speak," she finished. The intent was obvious. Particularly weak Masters could be exploited, or killed to eliminate their Servants as well. One particularly enticing idea was manipulating such a Master in order to use their Servant as well, but that would depend largely on if there were any susceptible targets. "But I already planned for such an outcome. My eyes are already spread across this city."

Indeed, shortly after being summoned, Caster had deployed her 'eyes' to investigate their surroundings and quickly locate any Masters and Servants who were out and about.

No-one would notice a few extra house spiders or garden spiders around on a warm summer's night.

@KoL
  • Name: Arachne
  • Class: Caster
  • Appearance: "Ah, Master, shall we destroy the opposition?"
  • Personality: Caster is a rather seductive individual, prone to lightly teasing others with her words and attempting to subtly prod others to action with her voice. Direct confrontation is not her forte, but she is not incapable of such action and will engage in it if necessary. Indeed, it cannot be said she has a hatred of confrontation, but views it as something to avoid if she is able to. Instead, she enjoys manipulation, pitting her enemies against one another, or using a situation to her advantage when she may otherwise have had little chance of success. Caster does not like showing her power, as while she is certainly strong as a magus it does no good to reveal her secrets, especially when the knight classes possess such strong defenses against her powers. Her seductive inclinations will drive her to attempt such techniques even on some Servants, if she believes them susceptible to such manipulations. Deep down, however, Caster possesses one thing close to her heart: A burning hatred of the Gods of Ancient Greece, an unyielding fire that cannot burn out no matter what. Caster's goal is, indeed, to do everything she can to take her vengeance, even in spite of the end of the Age of Gods having occurred long ago. She is seemingly without mercy when it comes to her goals, doing anything she must to achieve them. However, it can be said that she feels an attachment to her Master, an affection for them. Perhaps it is simply born of the knowledge that they have given her a chance to realize her thoughts of vengeance, or perhaps it is something else. Whatever the case may be, Caster will stop at nothing to obtain the Holy Grail.
  • Stats:
    • Strength: D(Modifiers are caused by skills and should be covered in those skills)
    • Endurance: D
    • Agility: C
    • Mana: A
    • Luck: E
    • Noble Phantasm: A
  • Class Skills:
    • Item Construction: EX. Capable of creating works that surpass the gods themselves, Arachne's ability to fabricate items raises above and beyond even many others of the same class.
    • Territory Creation: A
  • Personal Skills:
    • High Speed Divine Words: C. Capable of casting many powerful examples of High Thaumaturgy in a single action, as a Magus from the Age of Gods.
    • Obedience of the Arachnids: A+++. Unquestionably, Caster has the ability to command spiders as if they were an army. She is also capable of materializing species of spiders that do not exist in this world, such as huge dog-sized spiders or even larger arachnid monstrosities.
    • Mastery of the Arts(Weaving): A. The capability to apply the knowledge of artistic theory to many situations due to being an unquestioned Master in their time. In this case, Caster is capable of utilizing even normal thread to weave traps that can potentially hinder even other Servants.
    • Monstrous Strength: B. As one whose life ended as a monstrosity, Caster possesses the capability to use this monstrous nature to enhance her strength. It is of little use to a Caster who rarely fights at close range, but perhaps...
  • Noble Phantasm(s):
    • Name: The Tapestry of Arachne ~ Catalyst of Divine Wrath
    • Rank: B
    • Type: Anti-Army
    • Appearance: The large tapestry that resulted in Caster's punishment in life, gorgeously-woven and expansive. It depicts the gods of Greece engaged in various misdeeds against humanity.
    • Effects: The last work of Caster as a human being, the Tapestry of Arachne embodies the cruel wrath of the gods. Its fine craftsmanship depicts the Gods of Greece committing various heinous acts against humanity, and its very existence caused rage in the Divine Spirit Athena. Due to the nature of its existence, even long after the Age of Gods it is capable of invoking their ire. By placing her tapestry in a location of her choice, Caster is capable of causing that location to become a a target of this divine fury. The tapestry is struck with a column of destructive power, an eradicating blast of prana capable of annihilating even Servants with its deadly strength. However, it is difficult to use actively in combat, and Caster herself is not immune to the wrath of the gods. As a result, she can be destroyed if caught in the blast as well. Additionally, the tapestry must be manually retrieved after its usage.

    • Name: The Punishment of the Wise Goddess: Mother of Spiders
    • Rank: A
    • Type: Anti-Army
    • Appearance: Caster's body grows in size, and from the legs down it is warped into the form of an enormous black spider.
    • Effects: The fate inflicted on Caster by the Divine Spirit Athena, the invocation of this Noble Phantasm transforms Caster into a spiderlike monster. In this state, Caster's strength, endurance, and agility is multiplied many times, allowing her to fight at close range with even Servants of the Knight classes. In this state she is less a Servant and more a monster, an existence antithetical to heroes. She is a highly dangerous and mobile foe, but much of her ability to perform advanced magecraft disappears in this state. In addition, Caster is personally very reluctant to invoke this Noble Phantasm, as she has a distinct hatred for the form forced upon her by Athena.

Our Caster replacement.
As an update, I'm going to try and start either tomorrow or the day after.
It was nothing that Saber had not previously been informed of. At least, aside from the destination that had been laid out for them, which was a detail that she hadn't previously been aware of. With this knowledge, they now at least had some idea of what to expect, and some kind of idea of potential Servants they may encounter there. Of course, the Throne of Heroes could pull Servants from all eras across time, but it was likely that at least some of the Servants that were present within the singularity would have some kind of connection to the location or era.

Confident with this knowledge in mind, but wary, the blonde-haired knight made her way through the portal.

What was immediately apparent was the lack of light, the cold temperature, and the forested surroundings. With a burst of light, mana flowing across her body, Arturia was clad in her armor, gripping Excalibur in one hand. Bringing her left to its hilt, she stood at the ready. There was no telling exactly what was on this side of the portal, in this era of time under attack by unknown forced. Noting that her Master had taken care of an undead creature himself, she glanced back and nodded.

"I will take a forward position, Master."

It was what she was most suited to in a battle of this nature. Even in this pitch black condition, she was able to pinpoint the locations of nearby enemies. Most importantly, there was the matter of the clashing metal, the battle that was clearly ahead.

Snow crunched underfoot as she moved forward.

The first zombie clumsy raised its weapon, and fell in two halves before it could move another centimeter. The next, two, was cut apart in an instant. And zombie that came into Arturia's path, as she followed along closely to Archer, sliced apart. Again and again they fell, sometimes as many as three of the undead perishing in a single blow.

The Saber-class Servant only stopped when she caught sight of a warrior engaged with a spearwoman. Both were Servants, there was no doubt about that.

To be honest, she desired to quickly step in, but she had to agree with Archer's assessment, that waiting for a moment before mounting their own attack until the group was more organized as likely the best option.

There was something especially strange about the spearwoman...

Phones are an anti-convenient website access Noble Phantasm.
@Natsu: Hopefully sometime this week.
@Crusader Lord: Okay, after much deliberation, I think your abilities are probably fine.
Accepted.
Mordred

So her attack didn't effect the blobby thing. Deep down, beneath her frustration, she wasn't exactly surprised. Things like this were usually pretty difficult to harm with physical damage. And down here, Mordred was certain she couldn't risk using any of her ranged capabilities, let alone invoking Clarent Blood Arthur. It would likely blast its way upward through the street, and cause untold amounts of collateral damage and loss of life. There was no way she'd consider anything that would seriously destabilize the tunnel and cause such terrible damage. So that meant limiting her magical energy to her strikes.

"Oi, this thing's not gonna get seriously hurt by physical attacks, so we've gotta try 'n use close range-" the Red Knight was cut off when Alberich unleashed some sort of fire wave that promptly exploded.

Mordred rounded on him in that instant, grip tightening on Clarent.

"What the hell are you thinking?!" she snarled, taking a step towards the man. "Setting off an explosion down here?! Do you wanna collapse the sewers and kill anyone above us, you dumbass?!"

Perhaps the only reason she wasn't pressing the issue even further was because of the presence of the blob. At this point, she'd very nearly had enough of the guy she saw as an aggressively antagonistic bastard.

"If we didn't have to worry about that, that thing would be dead already!" Mordred snapped, glaring, but there wasn't really any time to lay into him any harder. They had to stop this slime thing already... Mana crackled like lightning around Clarent.
