Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Tonight or tomorrow is most likely when it will start. ^^;
"A light reflected off of Tiral's ice will do nicely," Fanilly responded. With that in order, the remaining knights split themselves among the two teams, and it was time to move in. The short blonde knight took a deep breath as she carefully made her way down the side of the hill, after having made her way a less steep area to the east. The foliage helped to mask their approach from the orc guards, and it seemed as if the brutes had failed to even scent them. The fairies had elected not to come any closer, likely due to the heavy magic in the air making them nervous. Even Fanilly, with no sensitivity to magic, could feel something of a weight in the air. It was almost like it was exceptionally humid. There was no doubt that the enemy was an extremely powerful mage, perhaps performing some sort of magic as they made there way to their positions.

At the east entrance, there were three large orcs, each with that crude black armor and their thick, jagged swords. Orcish smithing was not exactly elegant, but it could be deadly. Fanilly took a deep breath. From what she could see, there were only orcs guarding the ruins. No matter how much self-doubt she may have felt, she felt confident in her ability to lead the knights in battle in order destroy an orcish defense force like this, especially when Tiral was going to coat the ground in ice to make it so their enemies would be unable to stand and fight properly.

Slowly, carefully, Fanilly drew her sword.

"On my mark, Sir Tiral," she began, blue eyes glancing back towards the mage, "Freeze the earth, and then we'll begin our charge. One..."

"Two..."

"Three..."

"Now!"

The gaggle of children was a chorus of nods and declarations that they'd be the best knights ever. It seemed, at least for the moment, Liliana's bid for a moral lesson worked perfectly. For now. Children were easily swayed by whatever caught their attention for the moment, but it was likely that the sight of such strong, impressive knights would remain in their thoughts for a long time to come. Who knows? Perhaps a few of them would indeed grow up to become proud defenders of the realm and join the Iron Rose Knights. It wasn't as if it hadn't happened before, after all.

The little girl seemed to droop, slightly, in disappointment, when Fleuri told her he couldn't help, but she managed to regain her composure quickly enough.

"Mae is in the town center, near, um..." she trailed off for a moment, "Beldrigan's Barrel!"

It was the name of the town's rather large, impressive inn. Positioned right near the center of Brennan, it was an easy location to remember.

When Klaus offered to help, the little girl brightened even more.

"Really?!" she exclaimed, "Mae was really sad, so I wanted to find her puppy as soon as possible! Her name is Ennifer, like from the stories!"

Ennifer was the name of one of the heroes who had assisted in the defeat of the Witch-Queen of Orodagor, seven hundred years ago. It was a little bit of a grand name for a puppy, but at the same time, Ennifer herself would likely have approved. She loved dogs, after all.

@Karkinos: I didn't exactly mean to be condescending or anything like that, but I did state most youkai have a humanoid form(and indeed, for youkai who were born as youkai, that's their default form) for a reason. It makes character interactions easier to maintain and it's been a consistent lore detail for the setting for as long as it's existed in any kind of coherent form(something I admittedly didn't make very clear).

Giving her the ability to take a human form fills that in, but I will clarify that animal-based youkai can always take a more human form in this setting if shapeshifting is one of their capabilities.

"Most youkai" was intended to preserve the more monstrous types as enemies.
Saber

Dinner had been excellent.

But now it was time to shift gears. Once again, the town was under siege by undead and wolves, and in the distance that Lancer once again... Arturia stood atop the wall, air currents swirling around her blade as she stood at the top of the wall.

"I'm going now, Master," she said, simply. They had already assembled the outline of their strategy and prepared for the defense, so it was simply a manner of putting it into action.

The blonde knight leapt from the wall. She careened through the air, cold wind whipping past her, and she landed and put up a great cloud of snow from her impact. Without a moment's pause, she erupted from the icy cloud and cleaved one undead entirely in half, sending both portions of its body spiraling to the ground from the impact of her currently-invisible weapon. The Lancer-class Servant was still quite distant at the moment, but the wolves were in the process of closing in and there were a great many undead. Still, Saber felt quite confident. Darting forward, she took the head of another of the undead almost effortlessly, deflecting a battleaxe from a rather large undead immediately afterwards to slice off its arms in a single blow, before splitting its body down the middle!

With every stroke of her weapon, another undead fell, as she swiftly cleared a wide circle in the undead forces, their corpses dotting the icy land, and then pushed forward immediately, meeting the first of the wolves. It threw itself towards her with a snarl! But swiftly, Saber stepped to the side, raising her armored foot up and slamming it down on the beast's head, pinning it to the ground as she jammed Excalibur right through its neck, ending its life!

But that was simply the first of many, even as Elizabeth's singing killed wolves and undead, and Siegfried, Nero, and Tomoe tore into their numbers. And yet.... another figure had entered the battle. A girl, who looked frenzied and beastlike, tearing through the undead and ripping her way towards the approaching enemy Lancer...!

Caster

"They're so worthless~" declared Princess Skuld, standing atop the wall, near Elizabeth and the Master, cocking her head to one side as she did. Ah, all those undead... they were completely pathetic and unimpressive. What kind of idiot raised undead who were that worthless and useless? So decrepit, what was the point in them all? No, no, she had to display just what a real, proper undead could do! One that was a proper showing of necromancy, one that displayed actual effort and thought!

She knew just what to do.

"Look, Master, behold what a real necromancer can do!" declared the Caster-Servant, grinning towards the man as she spoke. Slowly, she raised one hand, her fingers tensing slightly. As if following the movements of her arm, something seemed to emerge from the earth, and yet the ground did not split and fracture. What emerged was massive, a huge, tall, pale humanoid. Across its body were numerous wounds, arrows protruding from its back, its ribcage showing through one large gash in its side. A portion of its head was simply gone, likely the blow that had killed it in life.

It was the corpse of a giant, a crude, massive sword gripped in one hand. Without a moment's pause, it let out a bellow, advancing and crushing multiple undead with a single blow of its weapon.

"A single one of my toys against all of those! I think you can see the difference in quality, fufu~" continued Skuld, with a giggle. Calmly raising her hand once more, an arc of green circles appeared above her head. Light flashed, and green mana tore through the night sky and rained down on the battlefield, piercing wolves and shredding walking corpses.

@Zelosse: Hmm, maybe.
@Karkinos: What @Raineh Daze said, basically. ^^;

The RP will most likely go up tomorrow or the day after!
@Lucius Cypher: What @Raineh Daze said, basically. ^^;

I'll probably post tomorrow or the day after.
@Karkinos: Well, any scenes that take place in public she can't participate in. ^^;
@Karkinos: No I mean I was trying to imply the player characters should all be more humanlike, both due to certain things in the setting and for ease of working them into things consistently. ^^;
@Karkinos: Ah, I'm sorry, I should have made it clearer in the OP: All player characters are supposed to be mostly humanlike. Given the urban fantasy setup that makes some things a lot more workable. ^^;
