Current Attn teeny boppers: You realize adbots aren't ppl, yes? They randomly generate login info, then execute pre-programmed posts. Your rage-spam goes unheard by the machine. And is equally annoying.

If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

I threw in a new limitation, let me know what you think.

The other kinesis abilities are still too much, in my opinion, and the speed of the booster should probably be a bit more specific. I also think that the other specifics of the suit should be clarified--how does it affect his strength and durability? Does it run on a finite power source? So on and so forth.

@InertiaSure, now that his quirk is straightened out. Just include the gloves somewhere and specify that his actual power is manipulating the oxygen density.

Because of his limits, the explosions can be fairly powerful--not as much as, say, a grenade or a pack of C4, but enough that it can rupture eardrums, break bones, and burn for a very short period of time around 1600 degrees F (or around 870 C), and things of that level. That, of course, is just full power, and by using more control he could lower the intensity if he wanted to non-lethally harm someone.
@InertiaYep, that'd work too. Might as well go all the way with the reference, right? XD
@Dead CruiserGiven his current limitations, and the description of the Quirk in general, I think this is a bit too powerful to start with. I can understand the logic behind using the umbrella psychokinesis to obtain the same effects as more specialized forms of psychic manipulation, but for the purposes of the RP I feel like pyrokinesis, fulgurkinesis, psychokinesis, and so forth should all be considered separate abilities. While I think the idea of cybernetic implants and other specialized items focused around his power would be cool, the PSI-X suit currently sounds too powerful given that in addition to his telekinesis it also gives speed thrusters and increases his power to "force of a cannonball" levels as well as granting a 5000 F flamethrower power and lightning bolts.

To keep the power level as it is, you would need to add more limitations to the usage of the power and its affects on either himself or his surroundings. Otherwise, I think this should be toned down a little.
@Rune_Alchemist Thanks for the heads up, I look forward to seeing it!

@InertiaIs his Quirk "producing a spark" or "adjusting oxygen density?" An individual can only have one power, even though the power might be a combination of their parents'--for instance, someone with fire manipulation and someone with ice manipulation might have a child who manipulates temperatures as a whole--but it is, in essence, still just "one quirk."

I'm not a science man so I don't really know for sure, but it seems to me like you could bundle it all under "adjusting oxygen density" and have the initial spark be the result of super-dense gaseous concentration around his hands creating enough friction to generate ignition. But that would also mean that anything else, not just his own movement, could possibly generate the ignition for the explosion as long as that person is within the high-concentration area.

OOC is up, everyone!

I'll try to get my characters up soon, in case anyone needs an example.

Now I'm not terribly familiar with MHA. Is it a common (or at least established) thing for characters to use special equipment or retainers to help control their power?

Quirks regularly manifest when children are around late-kindergarten age, so there's a little more control available over the power because the person has lived with it for so long. There are characters in the series, though, who don't have quirks suitable for combat and who thus become sidekicks and supporters, designing equipment for heroes to use. So, in short, yes you could have special equipment to go along with your Quirk!

"All men...are NOT created equal."

Beginning with the birth of a luminescent baby in China, more and more "Quirks," or superpowers, began to appear among humanity. Today's society is composed of superhumans, with 80% of the world's population possessing some form of supernatural ability. The paranormal has become the normal. In the wake of chaos brought about by those who would misuse their powers for evil, a new profession arose--while the justice system struggled to adapt the laws around the presence of quirks, those with courageous hearts rose up, and leaped into action! Soon, all the world recognized them, and gave them the only suitable name...HEROES!

This RP is an AU version of the anime/manga series Boku no Hero Academia, or My Hero Academy, where players take the role of students in a different city's hero school--not UA, but a different setting, so as to separate from the canon entirely and merely use the world and mechanics to give familiarity. However, it's all pretty easy to understand, so if you don't know anything about the series that's perfectly fine!

You are allowed up to TWO characters per player, one of whom is a Student Hero and the other a Villain. Pro Heroes will only be played by me, or at the least used as NPCs, and Student Heroes will have a few limitations. Villains won't have quite as many, but of course, they're villains who are destined to get their faces punched in so it's not that great a trade. I'd prefer there be as little overlap as possible between character powers. In addition, I'd also like to say that I'd prefer no "mind/emotion control" powers unless it can be justified to me very well, and the same to powers like intangibility, space/time control, and any form of omni-something/reality warping.

The current powers being used in the RP are:
Use of controlled adrenaline surge to obtain superhuman strength
Manipulation of oxygen density, used with a spark from equipment to make explosions
Creation of barriers
Generate propulsive bursts to enhance attacks or run at high speed
Combination Quirk that generates healing light with one hand and burning darkness with the other
Legs with lead bones generating heavy force for kicks and enhanced bodily strength
Telekinesis
Ability to take on properties of stone across the whole body
Plant Manipulation
Ability to sprout wings and claws
Ability to store and retrieve objects from pocket dimension
Ability to teleport self and objects within weight/distance limits
Ability to transform one arm into sand which can be manipulated, other arm into granite which cannot move
Ability to adjust perception of time within distance limits
Bubble Gum creation/manipulation
Superspeed within limits of durability

The current class distribution is:
  • Freshmen
    • Tatsumi
    • Nina
    • Matsuri
    • Daisuke
    • Luca
  • Sophomores
    • Sou
    • Yasu
    • Ayah
    • Kosoku
  • Juniors
    • Tonaka
    • Mine
    • Kaoru(?)
  • Seniors
    • Namari
    • Dirk
    • Dallas
    • Kazu

Please post characters here in the OC for approval before moving them to the Characters Tab. I'll try to get mine up as soon as possible if anyone needs an example.

However, it's all pretty easy to understand, so if you don't know anything about the series that's perfectly fine! Basically, not just a select group of special people, but almost everyone in this setting has developed the kind of superpowers you'd normally see in western comics, with the usual anime/manga stylistic flare. The only difference in "true" supers and "normal people" is that, much like the opening quote, not all Quirks are equal. Those with the strongest Quirks fight on the world stage, as Heroes and Villains!

The RP would mostly be split between crime-fighting and slice of life, but while the setting is in a high school I don't really intend to have players sit through "classes" unless there are specific events revolving around what happens while we're in a classroom. What I do have, however, are the various Special Assignment exercises that are meant to be practical training for heroes; between this and fighting villains, there should be plenty of things going on to keep people interested.

The plan currently is to allow two characters per player, one of whom is a Student Hero and the other a Villain. Pro Heroes will probably only be played by me, or at the least used as NPCs, and Student Heroes will have a few limitations. Another thing I should address is that I'd prefer there be as little overlap as possible between character powers. I currently have dibs on an adrenaline fueled generic strength/durability/speed character, so unless you can really put a different, unique spin on it, that's already a factor to consider when coming up with your character's abilities. Often times in RPs like this you see a lot of the same old tired, cliche, etc powers popping up. I don't have a problem with something as simple as "Fire Manipulation" being used in the first place, but it's when you get two or three people who are all basically the same--one manipulates fire, one manipulates "thermal energy," one just makes things "combust"--it gets old quick. In addition to that, I'd also like to say that I'd prefer no "mind/emotion control" powers unless it can be justified to me very well, and the same to powers like intangibility, space/time control, and any form of omni-something/reality warping.

So, anyone interested? Questions, suggestions?
The Knight stopped and turned, facing Sigurd in a half crouch. When he saw the man's hand on the greatsword's hilt, the Knight growled deep in his throat and flexed his claws. But the man insisted he was not an enemy. And the Knight felt...drawn towards him.

He held up his right hand. The warmth of the golden triangle shining there seemed to spread into him, calming and soothing. He looked from Sigurd, to his hand, then back to the other knight. Then he caught sight of the glow coming from Sigurd's own triforce piece. And, from within the building behind him, the Knight felt...others. As more pieces were gathered, the resonance grew stronger, as if the fragments were calling to each other, echoing the cry back and forth.

The Knight finally stood straight. He lifted the ReDead's sword, and turned it towards Sigurd. Still his throat bubbled with a barely constrained, bestial sound.

Then, whirling the blade, he performed the traditional Knight's Salute before using the bandages wrapped around the weapon to lash it to his back, in a manner similar to Sigurd's own.

He turned and started towards the HQ building. He still moved in that half crouch, as if he were a big cat slinking through the jungle. His head turned from side to side, and snuffling noises could be heard from inside the helm. He approached the door to the building and, after reaching out tentatively and looking over his shoulder, pushed it open.
