If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

Bio
On CST time, United States. Working from home now, so I can typically get at least one response out per week if not more depending on how things are flowing.
Okay everyone, I'm back from work earlier than I thought! So I'm sure I'll be able to get at least one of these done tonight, but since we're still waiting on a few players to make their characters I wanted to ask which one you guys want first:
Do you want me to go ahead and make the opening post in the IC?
Or do you want me to hand out the Past Life skills first?
@Knox Looks good, whenever you're ready he can go in the character tab!
@ReusableSword No problem, I actually like longer backstories so long as they're not full of purple prose and don't read like Charles Dickens. Ardur is good to go, slap him in the characters tab!
I added the link to the discord in the first OOC post, although it doesn't stand out much there at the bottom. Like I said before I'll probably have a long workday, but if I can I'll either get the IC started or at least start handing out the "carry over" skills later tonight or maybe early tomorrow.
@Gareth Sure you can join, just gotta get a character application in for me to approve!
@ReusableSword Sure thing! No rush, at least not right now. I'll be pretty busy tomorrow and I'm about to go to bed, so the IC probably won't open up for a little while yet.
@Renny Only two things to point out: I intended for Goblins to be of the smaller variety in this setting, the kind that usually don't get more than three feet tall. If you've ever read the manga/light novel Goblin Slayer, it's like that: roughly as small and physically capable as a young human child, and typically as smart, but far more vicious and cruel. Of course your human personality would override that level of intelligence and that sadism.
The other is that you won't start the game with anything in your inventory--the things you find, loot, and build will be noted as you go. And as the beginning is inside a cave with a lot of other mook-tier monsters, rather than any proper weapons or armor you'll more than likely be making do with sharpened spears or rocks for a bit.
@Guy0fV4lor Sounds interesting! Maybe your warlord could even be the guy whose forces hunted down UltraCraftGames’ cave dwelling rebels?
@UltraCraftGames Depending on the Past Life, there might be some qualifications for things that will be added to the character, yes. However, I don’t want to give them out until we have more finished characters because I don’t want people to think they have to/need to build their backstories for the sake of getting power ups. There is also no guarantee that every player will carry something over from their past knowledge.
The Wild Magic stuff might give me some prompts for ideas, thanks. But remember this isnt just a free form D&D game, it’s got inspiration from all kinds of RPGs and JRPGs on tabletops, anime and games, and even books.
@UltraCraftGames Looks good! I find his past life from the perspective of someone in a third world country (at least that’s what it sounded like) to be really interesting! I hope some of those cultural differences will come across through his personality and his perspective on the differences—and similarities—of this new world.
@Guy0fV4lor I like the additional flavor to his personality and history, but remember the characters are coming from our modern day world. Maybe somewhere less developed than the first world, but still our Earth. Having him be a former Knight or Lord kind of clashes with that. Maybe replace that with something like...a police officer who becomes chief/Sheriff/constable, but then the judge/district attorney/mayor won’t let him do things the way he wants to?
Went ahead and got the thread up and ready to go. Still working tomorrow but it should be less hectic so I'll try to check in when I can and hopefully get people's characters approved in a timely manner.

Long yellow teeth and black claws. Goals: Protect her offspring Survive Abilities: Beast Senses I Poison Resistance <UNUSABLE> ??? Inventory: None
Name: Colchain Gender: Male Species: Fanged Lizard Appearance: Fanged Lizards are a reptilian monster with potent venom. When injected via a bite, it acts as a neurotoxin to paralyze the prey. When exposed to the air, it becomes a highly acidic liquid. The lizard can spit at a distance. Lizards will sometimes roam in packs of family units, but only until the young can hunt on their own, compared to Dire Rats often found in the same ecosystem. They are normally various shades of gray, blue, and purple, darkening towards black with the lighter colors being speckled across their backs. Goals: Survive Escape Danger Find Food Abilities: Stun Fang I Poison Spit I ??? Inventory: None
Name: Crispy Gender: Male Age: 4 Species: Flame-Touched Goblin Appearance: "At some point this Goblin had been burned--severely. One of his eyes had gone completely white, and the bubbly, purplish skin on that half of his face stretched down his neck, winding along one shoulder and then spreading across his chest like gnarled roots or infected veins. But then, around the edges of that scar tissue where it should have healed the most and faded back to green...instead, it was a bright, fiery red. Like a tattoo--despite there being nothing from which to make ink in these caves."
Goblins stand between three and three-and-a-half feet tall on average, and while their physical strength isn't to be underestimated, they are much like human children. However, their natural cunning and viciousness is far more vile, and while they can use tools they have a limited intelligence. They tend to form savage tribes with little in common save for the constant drive to survive, and a lack of emotional control that causes them to do whatever they feel necessary to satisfy any primal craving they happen to feel at any given moment. They aren't typically capable of long-term planning and have difficulty with abstract concepts. Crispy is longer lived and more accomplished than most Goblins.
Goals: MORE FIRE "Fire is the strongest thing. Burn me, burn Rattle, burn Ventures...maybe even burn whole world." "Make safe place for Gobs, steals from Human Farm."
Abilities: LEVEL 7 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin Skill
Fireball II - A ball of flame that appears in the hand. In Crispy's case, this Skill was learned by an understanding of fire, the Flame Touched Variance, and personal effort. He has recently upgraded it to rank II, granting it a small explosive burst. It can inflict a burn on a target.
Flame-touched - Variant. Crispy once fell into a fire and was nearly killed. After experiencing a long period of intense agony, then making a full recovery, he realized the strength of flame and aspired to harness it for himself. As burned flesh grew anew, he gained this Variance, and his scars turned into a true mark of fire...
Fire Resistance IV - Crispy has a great deal of experience being burned and experimenting with crafting fire, gaining a high resistance to its heat.
Poison Resistance I - Crispy's resistances were short lived against multiple attacks, implying that his Poison Resistance isn't greatly advanced. However, he has still survived several confrontations at this point...
Crafting III - (I) Your knowledge and understanding of mechanics, workmanship, and other such things enable you to craft better items. The process of creating many items is still an unknown to you, but if you ever succeed in such a creation its Sub-Stat Enhancements will be higher than normal. (II) Crafting Complexity Increased. Stamina Requirement Decreased. (III) You can now craft more complex objects with a single moving part (like a flail or a wheel) more easily. Stamina usage from crafting decreased. Sub-stat Enhancements of items crafted from this point on are increased, but items previously made are still the same.
Intimidate I - Your force of personality has become semi-magical in and of itself. When demonstrating your power or anger, you appear more threatening to those weaker than yourself. You may be more capable to force them to do what you want.
Magic Resistance I - Magic damage from lower level spells is reduced, regardless of its element. Whenever you gain Elemental Resistances, their threshold will be used first before Magic Resistance is activated. Obtaining at least one level of all Elemental Resistances will cause Skill Synergy and automatically increase Magic Resistance by one rank.

Inventory: Cane-weave Hat (Average) Vine Belt (Good) Straw Sandals (Average) Torches (x1) (Bad) Stone Knife (Well-Made)

Name: Bigs Dummie Gender: Male Age: 1-and-a-half Species: Goblin Appearance: Bigs is a little taller and broader in the shoulders than the average goblin. His hands and feet are also larger than usual. He slouches with terrible posture, but is otherwise a shining example of average goblindom. Goals: Bigs want big muskles, so dey not call me Bigs Dummie no more! Wanna be Bigs Strongs! Abilities: LEVEL 2 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin skill Skewer I - Expend Stamina to increase the power of one Piercing type attack. Learned this during the Cave Raid under Orchid's instruction. ??? ??? Transformations: None Inventory: Wicker Shield (Good) Stone Spear (Bad)
Name: Wej Indere Gender: Male Age: 1-and-three-quarters Species: Goblin Appearance: Wej is shorter and fatter than the average goblin, with stumpy limbs and not much neck to speak of. He does appear to be decently stout, though, and while he tires quickly he isn't so obese as to plod along behind everyone else. Goals: Wej have dream. Wej gonna BUILD A WALL! Gonna be da BEST wall EVAH! Abilities: LEVEL 2 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin skill Skewer I - Expend Stamina to increase the power of one Piercing type attack. Learned this during the Cave Raid under Orchid's instruction. Defender I - Expend Stamina to take a defensive action, and take less damage from an attack. Learned this during the cave raid; Wej was hit the most often, to the point that his shield was damaged. But thanks to that Shield, he survived long enough to learn this skill! ??? ??? Transformations: None Inventory: Repaired Wicker Shield (Bad) - This shield was already Bad quality before it was broken. Now that it has been Repaired, it is still functional, but its defensive stats are even lower and it will break more easily a second time. Stone Spear (Bad)
Name: Jezee Kah Gender: Female Age: 10 days Species: Goblin Appearance: Smaller and more feminine than the majority of the other goblins, Jezee has the longest hair of the goblins. It's a dull, dead color like the red of fallen pine needles, and due to lack of hygene practice it's got the same texture too. She's managed to pull it back out of her eyes with a bit of vine and a generous application of spit, tying it into a rough ponytail. Goals: J-just wanna n-not be in danger all da times... Abilities: LEVEL 1 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin Skill Keen Sight I - Expend stamina to increase the range and clarity of physical sight. Jezee was made to carry a torch during the goblin raid, and as such had to peer into every dark corner while hoping everyone else would somehow manage to protect her. At least all that eye strain counted for something. ??? ??? Transformations: None Inventory: Torch x1 Sharp Stone
Name: Sqawl Crybaby Gender: Male Age: 8 days Species: Goblin Appearance: Sqwal is the smallest of the male goblins, but one of the most eager to prove himself despite his fears. Already he has managed to get himself into some kind of scrape that has left a small scar on his cheek, which serves as his most distinctive feature. Goals: Sqwal gonna be cool! Have hairs one day, soft and silky, and wear everytin' black, and be all like "...hmph..." all da time! Abilities: LEVEL 1 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin Skill ??? Transformations: None Inventory: Torch x1 Sharp Stone
Name: Clod Swipe Gender: Male Age: 2 Species: Goblin Appearance: Clod is about average in height for a goblin, but stands up straight and tends to be more confident and adventurous than the others. However, he goes along with orders easily and doesn't talk as much as the others in most cases. He's the only male goblin we've met thus far to have hair--two spiky tufts poking out just above the center of his forehead. They're the color of dry yellow straw, and just as rough and coarse. Goals: Gonna be best Gob war'yer evah! Gonna get mes a big sharp ting, an' a cape like dem Ventures got, gonna go lotsa places and kill lotsa tings! Abilities: LEVEL 2 Use Light Equipment - Starting Goblin Skill Skewer I - Expend Stamina to increase the power of one Piercing type attack. Learned this during the Cave Raid under Orchid's instruction. Crafting ??? - It's obvious Clod must have learned a few things about Crafting, maybe from watching Orchid, but it's not clear yet what rank it is. ??? ??? Transformations: None Inventory: Wicker Shield (Bad) Stone Spear (Excellent)
