Why do people put their entire OOC in the interest check? Like what's the point of even making the OOC, then?

I mean, showing a little bit of lore is fine, but everything? I like to put a little bit about the setting to "entice/tease" people, then show them the full package.

They probably feel that putting more info in an int Check means they're more likely to get a response from folks

@The Elvenqueen I know that feel so hard.

One time, I got someone who said they're on a "short schedule" to write a post, and asks for a summary... and then says that, because no one told them in time, they can't write a post.

Instead of, you know, skimming the IC.

Don't really have any specific RP sessions running right now or anything, so there's no need to bitch about the usual "other people not having the same level of commitment" problem I tend to run into whenever I actually get into some proper RPing.

I guess if I'm gonna put down anything, it'd be that, from my own experience, the most frustrating situation a GM can ever be put into is trying to set up RPs when they involve an original setting that isn't created only for the purposes of RP but also to be an official work in and of itself. This takes far more time, and is far more difficult, than GMing RPs based off of pre-existent works or a setting that was created solely for the RP session. Inactivity and lack of commitment on the part of your RP partners is an obvious pain in the ass, but this situation is worse in my opinion.

My God some of the people on this site are so melodramatic.

Like, if you don't have thick skin for it, you shouldn't be on the internet.

<Snipped quote by tsukune>

First of all Starting off aggresive, I like it, it's sexual orientation. Not sexual "preference." It's not my "preference." I was born this way. What if I told you... it can be both? Also I've heard like 50 different definitions for both of those terms so... o.o For someone who claims rude to be an ally of LGBTQ people (and clearly is an outsider looking in)rude, you strangely do not even have that down.rude Important - because it leads me to question the integrity of your statements.

All in all though, you are speaking with an air of authority that's not deserved.rude I'm not sure what you peopleYou people, why is it us versus them, can't we be friends? want from us, and these types of statements always come from a hetero person too.Generlizations, probably true but still.

I'm not sure what to think of how you describe as a "sick fetish." What about homosexuality is a "sick fetish" to you?I thought it was clear that some Silentwriter didn't like that some people basically thought gay sex was hot like some people like yuri and what not *shrug*

However, maybe that's just an indication that your voice really isn't one of authority he never said he was? when you acknowledge that this is a sensitive topic.

You probably think you're doing us a favor. Rude generalization

Did you have to be so rude about it? I'm sure there's some nicer way to phrase these things.

Evening posting on other things so you sit there with he look of wtf on your face. I had a life too I know he difficulties but a paragraph takes about 20 minutes at most.

When your the free jump in roleplay has a better track record and highier post quality than any casual or advanced rp you've been in.

There's a problem.

@Tulpa I think you're misunderstanding @tsukune's point a little bit here, friend.

I mean, you already said it was "vague."

The only roleplays I've completed have been free roleplays. The only reason I do casual and advanced now is because I enjoy putting more depth in characters and I hate getting one liners in return.

Okay I've just been back reading this thread and must say I love the passion here even if I don't agree with the post

That said I do have one bone to pick that happens in RP from time to time and those are the "Shouting at Gods" type of players

I know you've seen this type and in fact can likely name a few but perhaps you don't know what I mean by "Shouting at Gods' it's simple

These are the players that become so wed to a Character and all it's detail that they spend post after post defending their concept of a character even after the GM has said it doesn't fit, is too powerful, not of a type allowed or any other reason isn't acceptable

It's like arguing with the God of that reality because let's face it the GM is effectively the God or Goddess of that reality

But rather than accept and adapt to the RP the SG gets into arguing/debating or even name calling in post after post. I have seen this type actually suck the life out of an RP an even experienced it in one of my own.

I wonder if concise writing was ever a factor among those in the Casual section (or the equivalent, on other sites)? It's pretty hard to not meta-game or power-play when I know everyone's thoughts, words, and actions, just saying...

Somewhat related topic. I once was part of a RP where we weren't allowed to write our character's thoughts, we could only write their action and words as though we were observing them impartially. It was incrediably difficult but quite fun. Really short posts though.

it kinda sucks that rp's are so hard to finish now adays. currently im in an advanced rp that has the chance to actually end. ( And i hope it does since i waited 3 months for it to come back from the dead.) But it still kinda sucks.

My biggest grievance right now is the fact that I can't seem to find a RP partner who doesn't require romance in the roleplay. Everyone wants it (or so it feels), and I find that I'm often looked at as if I've got three heads for requesting that there be no romance in the roleplay.

I have no problem if that's your thing, but it isn't mine, and trying to change my mind isn't cool.

All I desire is a cool action adventure story, is that so much to ask?

As do I. But finding them sans romance in 1x1 is quite the task.

They generally take a lot of effort on both sides to make work. I feel like a romance story is easy because you just figure out how to get the characters together. Dunno, I'm a little out of it today
