Lomen

@Jangel13

A charge. Obviously the most dangerous attack the rabbit appeared to use. Although it was dangerous, the fact it was partially blind form the last strike gave Lomen the perfect chance. It was a moment where the blow must be to the final point where the rabbit couldn't fight back as ferociously, the legs. All the rabbit's power seemed to reside in its legs so at least one must be destroyed to possibly kill the rabbit at best or at least injure the rabbit enough so it cannot escape more lethal blows.

With the rabbit's charge, Lomen kept his shield to protect his body, sidestepping into the rabbit's new blind spot thanks to an injured eye and moved a bit forward in a small crescent path again to make sure the rabbit couldn't turn and strike him. He then strikes at the rabbits hind legs, hoping it would be enough to at least prevent escape and possibly be enough to kill the animal. Plus he felt that this rabbit would taste amazing after it was dead and looked forward to the meal.

-the fishing attempt-

The fish were immediately scared by the sudden change in the water as they felt the ripples of the goblin standing in the stream as they were quick to flee to the sides. They were like that until the goblin was then perfectly still once they felt that the goblin was nothing more then another rock they swam past the goblin not thinking that the legs were a threat. Downstream the pond had many more fish but they also held more violent fishes that would attack anyone daring to get into the water more then the shoreline. It was their decision whether they stuck to the safety of the stream or to try their hand at actual fishing and risk enraging a dangerous fish that lives in fresh water and feasts on the colorful fish.

@The 4 Winds

-The final blow-

As the rabbit fought with everything it had it soon turned out to be a pointless endeavor as the rabbit made its next charge then when the goblin strikes at its hind legs a deafening crunch could be heard and it was understood that the legs were now broken and unable to run. The rabbit was unable to run or attack in earnest anymore as it simply curled up hissing loudly at the goblin trying to scare it away even though it didn't have the strength to fight anymore. Once the goblin made the finishing blow the alpha was then dead.

The goblin was able to feast on nice and fat meat as the rabbit fed well and was strong.

Lothar watched as the fish initially avoided him, which wasn't surprising as any small movement or changes in the current seemed to scare them. However, as some time went by and Lothar stood still, the fish began to just swim by him as if he were another rock. This seemed to be a decent time to try and spear a fish. However, he did notice that the lake/pond that the stream led to had much more fish, but who knew what was in the deeper waters... plus, were goblins good at swimming? Lothar didn't want to risk it at the moment. For now, he just focused on the fishes that were passing by him, and patiently waited for a decently sized one to come by with his spear ready to pierce through the water at any given moment.

Food never tasted so good. In all of his memory, this was the most satisfying meal in existence. The brain and heart seemed to be especially tasty for an odd reason and while eating he heard he had learned 'Heavy Strike'. Lomen thought that he was given a skill based on his attacks and decided to try and become more well rounded with skills. With the new horn he could make more pin-point attacks, letting him learn vitals for the monsters he would have to hunt. A good hunt indeed.

Although it was a great moment, it would be sunset soon and Lomen remembered the stories of dangerous beasts that loom in the night. For now it would be best to get back to the cave. It would be a fun night and Lomen decided to tell Grampa Goblin all about his first hunt against a horned rabbit. He still was not sure if it was an alpha or not due to having seen only one rabbit, but he would probably be told by Grampa Goblin based on the horn. All in all, it was a good day, but he would have to start earlier tomorrow if he was to get more abilities and experience. He felt like there was a number that was important, but he would ask about that later. For now, he felt it was time to go home and enjoy the night.

Along the way, he decided that he would pick some berries and see if there were any leaves or tree vines sturdy enough to make rope, netting, or primal clothing out off. It would be good for those cold nights to possibly have more than a loin cloth.

Well, he wasn't wrong she thought, but it wasn't going to stop her from going and attempting to hunt alone later. Hunting with others was fun and all, but there were certain things that were easier to do alone. Still, any major hunting would probably have to be done in groups. For now she'd stick to hunting large amounts of Horned Rabbits and get to be able to fighting them relatively quickly and easily. It'd help with food and also with her own skills.

"Hehe, We've been alive for what, three days? Pretty sure more great days are ahead!" Isurta giggled. "But it was pretty fun hunting with you two as well. Lets do it again sometime!" She followed after Kishi, walking alongside him with a grin. "And I'm not gonna use the teeth, but what are you gonna use 'em for?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. Kishi was a creative one, at least that was the impression she got from him. He made some pretty cool spears with what they had at least, even if they were nothing all that impressive. "You should show me once we get back." She asked, walking past Kishi. "Come on then! Last one there is gonna get eaten by a bear!"

She had no idea what a bear actually looked like or what one even was, but it sounded funny to say.

Xaal had been walking a couple of feet behind the two, eyes dimly staring down at his newly-gained horn, even though his mind was far from it. His newly-killed rabbit was draped over his shoulder, the blood having mostly clotted from the hole in it's head, where Xaal had stabbed it. As far as thoughts went, they were practically everywhere, scattered all over the place.

Mainly, he was thinking of how he still hadn't eaten his rabbit yet, and how much he was still actually hungry. Isurta was right - from the small piece of conversation that he subconsciously managed to gleam. He would be coming out to hunt the horned rabbits solo, after everything was taken care of back in the cave. While he enjoyed the two's company, Xaal knew that he needed to grow independent. For some reason, he felt as if his survival depended on it. Then again, there was always strength in numbers...

Anyways, he did know that there was always the risk of more dangerous monsters being attracted by a lone goblin hunting rabbits, but after the first rabbit they ambushed, Xaal had felt like he'd be much more capable in fleeing stronger foes. Something about the rabbit's last fearful dash towards Isurta was still in his mind. As far as hunting the horned rabbits themselves, Xaal felt like he had a good grasp on their tactics.

They had two rather simple strategies when it came to being hunted - they would either run away, or they would make a foolhardy, horned charge towards the danger, in some suicidal attack. You simply had to be concise, striking hard and fast before they could get away, and before you got gored. Get into an advantageous position, and hit a vital point with a Charged Attack...-

"-eaten by a bear!"

Xaal abruptly looked up, crimson eyes sharp and focused as he glanced around. His horn was gripped tightly as he increased his speed, until he was alongside his two companions.

"Did you see a bear?" He asked Isurta and Kishi, turning his gaze towards the female. Xaal turned around, smoothly walking backwards as he continued to scan the area around them.

whew, how far did they come from the cave? She hadn't thought they'd come that far but it seems in their search for rabbits they may have wondered a bit further than she thought. She'd have to pay attention next time. Still, the path was easy enough to follow back as long as they didn't have any interruptions. Or as long as she didn't get bored and tried to mess with any of her brothers.

"Did you see a bear?"

Perfect timing!

Isurta stopped walking, turning towards Xaal, a look of slight concern on her face. Had she seen a bear? Hell no. Was she going to say she saw one just to mess with Xaal? Definitely. At first, the female goblin didn't say anything. She just stared at Xaal, or rather behind him as if she was trying to think of a way to say 'we are royally fucked', but no words came out. All she could manage to do was point behind him and speak quietly, point with a somewhat shaky finger.

"U-uhm...right behind you." Isurta started backing up slowly.

now to just wait for his reaction.

-The gathering-

As the goblin went closer to the cave soon started their gathering and because he noticed what the rabbit was eating the goblin was then able to gain some handful of edible berries. Their were a few vines that would make good rope to bond things together. The things he was able to gather wasn't much but it would be enough to feed the goblin and create a few things with the new horn it acquired.

As they made their way back the could sense the sun was starting to descend making the area a bit darker and harder to see. They would need to return home but they have more then earned their rest as they have hunted rabbits with great proficiency.

Another skill. So they will not all be combat based. Lomen was glad that not all skills were combat based. This meant that he could make better use of his time towards skill based training and self improvement. This information put him into a good mood and seeing as how close he was to the cave he decided to whistle a bit.

The berries were a good snack as well but he would save some for later. It could possibly be used to catch other creatures since it was one of the most abundant food sources. Either way, it was a good day.

Stegs was no longer overly worried about his injury, but he saw no reason in taking unnecessary risks by going for bigger fish downstream especially since none of them even knew if their plan to catch fish would even work. The fact that was starting to get darker slightly concerned him as well, he had never spent a night out of the cave and he preferred to keep that way at least a little longer. "We might be better off staying here, if this trick works we can ge for the big ones some other time. What do you guys think?"

Skubli waited patiently as the other two goblins debated the plans. It seemed that there were larger fish downstream, however something about the deeper waters caused a shiver to run down the little goblin's spine. It was strange, the fear of the unknown. It terrified him into action; scared to explore, but even more so to stand still. His nose twitched in the wind as a strange scent came from the other side of the river. Uncertain of its origin and unwilling to find out, Skubli scampered back towards the group.

"We might be better off staying here, if this trick works we can get the big ones some other time. What do you guys think?" Stegs spoke with reason, and frankly, Skubli was relieved to know that the other's were leaning towards exploring the deeper waters at a later time.

"Good plan," Skubli stated, slightly frustrated at his broken speech patterns. "Sun soon to go. I not want to be outside of big cave at night."

Lothar nodded. The pond just felt a bit off and he wasn't comfortable with trying to figure out why as of this moment. He said to the others "Perfect, since we all agree, let's hurry up and catch us some fish. The sun's setting and I don't think I want to wander outside of the cave in the dark." He just continued to stand in the stream with his spear ready and said "I'm ready whenever you guys are. Just start splashing around and let's get out of here."

Rather than going after random fish, Stegs planned to try and go for groups. It turned out to be easier said than done, not only was it harder to walk through the water the fish took off in random directions as soon as he got close to them. Eventually he gave up and instead switched targets to the biggest fish he could find in the stream. He tried to chase the fish towards Lothar and hopefully death by spear as well.

After a while he thought about it calling it quits before it actually became night. "Wanna go back tot he cave?"

Kishi sighed slowly as he progressed, walking between the trees that dominated the forest. Xaal had been out of sight for the past few minutes, and Kishi had begun to worry. While the goblin was very capable and could handle himself, the world was almost entirely unknown to Kishi. As this train of thought continued, Kishi also began to worry about the surroundings. Kishi knew of a few berries that were edible because of the rabbits, but besides that, anything else could be poisonous to the touch. Aditionally, things besides the rabbit may lurk in the vegetation. Ae these thoughts crossed his mind, the voice of Isurta was completely ignored, until Kishi noticed she was talking at all.

"Come on then! Last one there is gonna get eaten by a bear!"

As soon as the last, foreign word crossed her lips, Xaal, who had been stalking the pair, decided to reveal himself.

"Did you see a bear?"

Kishi jumps at the sudden noise, before turning to see the tall, scarred goblin step from behind the treeline. Apparently, everyone knows what the hell a bear is except for me... From the hint of urgency in Xaal's voice, whatever a 'bear' was, it wasn't good.

As Kishi had this thought, however, Isurta began to turn and raised a trembling hand.

"U-uhm...right behind you."

Her hand pointed towards thin air, but Kishi played along, donning a terrified expression.

Immediately afterwards, he burst into giggles, ruining the entire plan.

-Sunset fish-

AS the sun started to set in the distance something unbelievable was seen. A beautiful trail of the fish were passing by them. The Fish that were swimming past one of the goblins were actually glowing because of their colorful scales it almost looked like a rainbow flowing down the river and even though their was still sunlight it was obvious that they get even brighter when the moon rises in the distance. This was not only beautiful but was a great defense system because it would usually confuse their predators from claiming the largest of them.

@The 4 Winds

-Grandpa and the gathering-

Grandpa was napping in the cave waiting to see which of the young ones would make it back after their first hunt. It was unlikely that they would all survive since their was usually at least one death in the beginning where the weak are left to die as something elses prey. Soon he woke up to the sound of whistling and he was curious as to what was making that odd noise. He reached the entrance of the cave and he saw that it was one of the goblins and it seemed he was gathering berries. While it was safe it wouldn't make him any stronger. Grandpa hoped that he actually hunted today. "Avoid the yellow berries little one" he called to him not wanting to have the young die so stupidly.

@Duoya@Rune_Alchemist@Wasted Ink

-careful of staying out to long-

As they kept moving back to the cave they soon heard a loud howl in the distance. The fact they have been able to kill 3 horned rabbits was a boon and a curse because the blood was attracting the real predators of the forest. While they were making light of a bear they would need to hurry or hide in a tree if they want to avoid whatever was making that loud howling noise. They may not know it but if nothing else they would be safe in the tree tops if they knew how to climb. If they weren't careful to run faster they wouldn't be able to avoid a truly difficult fight that would put their lives on the line...

As Stegs floundered about the fish, Skubli took a more subtle approach. He grabbed a few smooth river stones and began stalking his prey. Once they swam near to Lothar, the runt threw the stone into the air and submerged himself in the water. He immediately swum at the fish, scaring it away from him. As the aquatic prey fled, the stone landed in the stream where Skubli had thrown it. It landed on the other side of the fish, trapping it between the stone and Skubli. Scared by both disturbances, the fish fled in the general direction that Skubli desired, however he could never seem to get it to work as he wanted, and as a result Lothar was not provided with very many targets.

While swimming beneath the calm waters, Skubli heard a voice speaking above the waters. It was distorted through the waves, but before Skubli could surface, a brilliant glow entered the waters. Startled by the new development, Skubli dove to the bottom of the stream and hid himself within the rocks. Peering out, he could see a line of rainbow-fluorescent fish swimming through the waters, displaying a dazzling light that left Skubli awestruck. After what seemed to be an eternity, Skubli felt pain in his chest as he hadn't had any air to breath.

Forcing himself to ignore his trepidation towards the new creatures, Skubli surfaced, inhaling deeply as he broke the water. After a small bout of coughing, he turned to the other Goblins, who also watched the fish. "What are they?" Skubli couldn't keep a small quiver out of his voice, however he doubted the others noticed.

Lomen looked at Grandpa Goblin and nodded his head to show acknowledgement of the wisdom. He began picking out the yellow berries from the bunch he had gathered on his way home and sat down next to Grandpa goblin. Lomen presented the Alpha horned rabbit body and bowed one his hands and knees.

"I know it is a lot to ask after being given advice about the berries, but please teach me how to skin this rabbit."

In his previous life, Lomen had never before skinned an animal and as such had no experience with it. If he was to survive, it would be best to collect all he could from the area around him, be it wisdom, food, or materials. In order to become stronger and acquire more skills, Lomen believed that he would have to make as many good connections with those that are alive in the clan and strive to better himself as much as possible every day.

While the rainbow colored fish were pretty, and their scales would no doubt be useful for making jewelry if they ever felt like it, the setting sun made Stegs nervous. Wanting to avoid any more injuries to himself and any injuries at all to the other two he wondered if they should back to the cave. Staying out at night might be doable after they had gotten stronger.

Besides though he hadn't taken the time to see how many fish Lothar had speared he was sure it would be enough to convince Grandpa to look at his injury and hopefully leave some food over for themselves. If it wasn't Stegs would try and make sure the other two at least would have something to eat since they went through all this trouble on his suggestion. "Don't know, pretty though. Still it might be better to go back."

-how to skin-

Grandpa goblin was relaxing against the wall of the cave until he soon saw the little one known as Lomen come over and bowed before presenting him with an alpha horned rabbit. Grandpa had to admit he was a little impressed that he was able to catch an alpha on his first day out hunting. He then asked about how to properly skin a rabbit and while he was opposed to teaching more then the essentials he decided he would be nice for a price. Grandpa went and grabbed a few berries from the little one and said "Nothing comes free" he said simply before he took the rabbit and put it on the ground to show him how to properly skin the rabbit. When he was done he presented the finished skin to the goblin.

Lomen paid intent attention to the skinning and learned the skill to do so. After a few moments of milling over what to do with the pelt, Lomen ripped the right hind leg and sat next to Grandpa Goblin. He then offered the hind leg to Grandpa Goblin and started eating.

Mind telling a young goblin more about this world? In truth he wanted to know more about the monsters and possible ways to acquire abilities. Though after a good first day hunting, he would just be happy to have a regular conversation. Grandpa Goblin was wise due to being alive longer and would be a wealth of knowledge. For a moment Lomen pondered what morals he should follow in this life and decided that would be done later, as of now he was a bit tired. He resolved to figure out a few morals before heading out tomorrow. If anything, it would be better to live a short life true to himself rather than regret a long life of mistakes so finding out morals was a must.

Satisfied with his thoughts, Lomen returned his full attention to Grandpa Goblin, still offering the leg and eating the rest of the alpha horned rabbit.
