Her father was a prominent real estate developer with longstanding ties to the city council, while her mother operated within Calder’s cultural scene as a gallery curator and patron of the arts. From an early age, Sienna learned how power moved through Calder City - quietly, socially, and almost always behind closed doors. Despite the privileges surrounding her upbringing, Sienna developed a reputation for resisting expectations rather than following them. Intelligent but difficult to control, she drifted through elite private schools and universities with the kind of effortless charisma that made consequences hard to stick. By her early twenties, she had become a recognizable figure within Calder’s nightlife scene, moving comfortably between celebrities, politicians, artists, Vanguard operatives, and the city’s more dangerous social circles. Sienna established The Velvet Room shortly thereafter, an upscale cocktail bar and social hotspot that quickly became one of the most influential gathering places in the city. Publicly, the establishment is known for exclusivity, live music, and celebrity clientele. Privately, it has become neutral territory where politicians, heroes, journalists, criminals, and corporate intermediaries all occasionally find themselves sharing drinks beneath the same dim lighting. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Sienna possesses localized gravitational manipulation abilities, allowing her to alter gravitational force within the space surrounding herself and nearby targets. Unlike more overtly destructive superhumans, her powers are defined by precision, fluidity, and control rather than raw devastation. She can reduce her own weight to move with unnatural grace, levitate effortlessly, walk along vertical surfaces, and redirect momentum in ways that make her movements appear almost impossible to predict. During combat, Sienna manipulates gravitational pressure around opponents, disrupting balance, increasing weight, or pinning targets beneath crushing force for brief periods of time. She can also create localized distortions capable of pulling objects toward her, redirecting incoming attacks, or collapsing surrounding debris inward under concentrated pressure. Her abilities are visually subtle but unmistakable. Objects drift slightly in her presence, glasses tremble across bar counters, jewelry shifts against still air, and gravity itself seems unstable whenever her emotions rise beneath the surface. Witnesses often describe a strange feeling of pressure or imbalance near her during moments of stress. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Sienna is effortlessly magnetic, carrying herself with the kind of confidence that makes most rooms instinctively adjust around her. Sharp-witted, emotionally perceptive, and socially fearless, she possesses a talent for making people feel simultaneously comfortable and exposed. Conversations with her often feel carefully balanced between flirtation, honesty, and subtle manipulation, leaving others unsure how much of her charm is genuine and how much is strategic. While the public often views her as reckless or indulgent, Sienna is considerably more observant than she allows people to realize. Years spent navigating Calder City’s elite social circles have made her deeply skilled at reading power dynamics, hidden intentions, and emotional weaknesses. She dislikes authority almost instinctively, particularly institutions that attempt to package heroism into politics or profit, and she has a habit of pushing against control simply because it exists. Despite her reputation for emotional detachment, Sienna cares deeply about the city and the ordinary people trapped beneath its constant violence and corruption. She simply prefers helping from the shadows rather than standing beneath banners or corporate logos. Beneath the confidence and bravado is someone profoundly protective of her independence, terrified of becoming controlled by the same systems she watches consume everyone around her. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Sienna’s primary goal is freedom - freedom from institutions, expectations, ownership, and the invisible systems of control woven throughout Calder City. Having spent her entire life surrounded by people leveraging influence, money, politics, and public image for personal gain, she has become deeply resistant to the idea of belonging to anyone or anything she cannot walk away from freely. At the same time, she cannot fully detach herself from the city she claims not to care about. Beneath her carefully cultivated independence is a growing frustration with the corruption, exploitation, and quiet violence that define Calder City’s power structures. She has seen firsthand how corporations manipulate heroes, how politicians weaponize fear, and how ordinary people are left paying the price for conflicts far larger than themselves. Although Sienna publicly avoids positioning herself as a traditional hero, she repeatedly finds herself drawn into protecting people during moments of crisis - often before official responders arrive. Whether she ultimately becomes a protector, a disruptor, or something far more dangerous remains a question even Sienna herself has not fully answered. |

Real estate mogul, explorer and truly one of the most eccentric men of the 20th century. Nero was a survivor of the first world war, one of the original victims of the Gray Death. A founding member of Vanguard, but whom left its ranks, and most of public life during the second world war. Instead, retiring to a rapidly growing city in the south. Everlight City, New Mexico - the most peculiar city in all of the world. Everlight City is the only place on earth where the sun never sets. It never rains, and there is never night. The entire city is shrouded in a barrier of pure daylight, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has been this way for centuries, and it is the reason for the city's founding back in 1814 when settlers discovered an area where the sun never set. Everlight is free from modern technology and pleasures, for no form of wireless communication can pierce through the veil of light. Superhumans cannot dim the light for long, and not one soul is aware of the cause of the light. Everlight has become a hip vacation retreat for the wealthy who want a 'social media detox' and an improved tan, the city being gentrified at an ever alarming rate. However, that isn't what troubled Nero, or his ancestors of the past two centuries. No, what troubled them were the causes, and effects of the never setting sun. Effects were small, but over the years they have become increasingly more potent, a panic has been spreading through the city while the Nyxius family have been trying to keep the city from falling apart. See, in the city where the sun never sets, a great darkness live within people. It drives people mad, turns them into something... Less than human. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen. Last year Nick's father and mother Lissandra, both died under mysterious circumstances. And it fell upon Nick, a surfer who had spent most of his life at boarding schools and dodging his enigmatic fathers gaze to inherit the Nyxius estate. One of the U.S's most eligible bachelors had to return home and there he discovered the truth about his legacy. His father, his grandfather and most of the members of the Nyxius family have all been working to protect the city of Everlight. The blessing was a curse, and they had to find a way to stop it, for fear it might spread to other places in the world. Their order of protectors had been called the Daybreakers, mixing modern technology with century old mystic arts to try and fend off the altered victims of the light. Nick is the last man to don the mantle, to utilize his superhuman abilities to try and save his city, and in order to do so he needs to find out what is happening. His family never told him the truth, and he's been forced to pick up the pieces over the past year, retracing the steps of a century old mystery where the only clues he has been able to piece together points him to one place. Calder City. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Gray Death Enhancements: Hereditary powers inherited from his father. His father's abilities kept him aging at a slower rate, and Nick is expected to age even slower. Furthermore, it would seem Nick has the ability to alter light and heat in some limited capacity, though currently it goes no further than making a light bulb burn in his hand. Power of the Daybreaker: The Order Of Daybreak is a secret society, a cult of the mystic arts. They firmly believe that the Everlight is caused by the supernatural and have been delving into the paranormal to find the cause, the motive and how to stop it. This has lead to them finding a treasure trove of false leads over the years, and combining their occult and arcane knowledge with their mundane physical wealth has lead to a long list of tools and abilities at the Daybreaker's disposal. Most notably an armored suit with a series of magical abilities powered by a highly secret, deeply unstable magi-tech that is far beyond Nick's understanding. He has to gather allies, find a solution and return to a home that has gone mad. A New Dawn: Nick does not simply wish to be the silent protector of a city going mad. Nick is argent for glory as a hero, beyond Everlight City. He wishes to use his powers, his wealth and his mantle for good in ways that his family had never truly dared to. His father Bo Wen runs the Liu Fix-it workshop which he operates his business out of. Qing Yuan is a handyman by trade/s. A combined electrician, plumber, carpenter and builder who is not above gardening and painting gigs. He works out of his van, but still uses his father's shop as a 'brick-and-mortar' location, and fills in when his own business is quiet. This allows him to also check in on Bo Wen, a priority since they lost his wife and Qing Yuan's mother Liwei under less than peaceful circumstances. One afternoon, when Bo Wen had closed the shop to do a bank run, a local gang looked to exploit the opportunity with the proprietor being off site. Liwei heard movement in the store, mistaking it for her husband's return. And walking into the shop, from the attached living quarters, stumbled upon a site she was never meant to see. She would not live to tell neither husband nor son what she had seen. But she needn't say a word either. Both Bo Wen and Qing Yuan were well aware who would have moved on the shop. After all, they knew their community best, their neighbours, as well as the delinquent and criminal element. After a few well placed questions led him in the right directions, he would never again have to worry about somebody else meeting his mother's fate from the same hands. And he was all the stronger for it. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Chi Manipulation and Extraction - Qing Yuan has full control of his own chi, as well as any and all chi he has absorbed into his being. This can take simple forms such as the diversion of chi to localised areas of his person, greatly increasing their strength or durability, but it also has healing properties. It can latently ward off poisons and toxins, and with focused diversion can allow him to push through injuries and wounds. With concentration chi can even be focused to the point of a warming glow. He has little control over chi extraction. It is an all-or-none proposition, and extracting another's chi kills them. There is no 'siphoning out a little'. Martial artist - From a young age, Qing Yuan has learned martial arts from his father, and, later from other relatives who had emigrated from the old country to the city after he'd surpassed Bo Wen's not inconsiderable knowledge. His 'uncle' Xiaolin was teaching him 'kung fu' for a while, leaving Qing Yuan curious about what exactly he was learning. Upon asking "So what is it? Wing Chun? Northern Shaolin? Southern? His 'uncle' Xiaolin could only nod and say 'Yes. Kung fu.' Apparently Qing Yuan has been learning a mismash of various priciples of numerous types of martial arts passed down verbally from those of numerous regions - united under the blanket term 'kung fu'. Empathy to Energy Manipulators and Chi abnormality - Due to being something of an energy manipulator himself, Qing Yuan can recognise that power in others. Likewise, his extrasensory grasp on life force via chi can give him a leg up on recognising if others are being manipulated by outside forces. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Qing Yuan does not view himself as a hero at all. He's not so deluded as to not realise that 'heroes don't kill', and at the center of his powers is the very ability to take life. 'Hero' isn't really his calling. He's a community minded man who views himself as having 'plucked a few weeds from the garden'. As a killer, who's not an openly registered hero, he is very guarded and compartmentalises that side of his life. But with the mask off he is very extroverted, a pleasant man who is well known and liked in his community. If he hasn't fixed somebody's something-or-another, then they probably know somebody who has. And if they're close neighbours... probably at some point free of charge. He's not a 'Punisher' though. He just has firm limits in his beliefs as to who could actually be rehabilitated. Like many children of immigrants he has had some very conservative political notions baked in. And some of his own ideas regarding worthiness and 'a waste of life'. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Qing Yuan is just looking to make his community a better place for himself and those he knows to live in. Whether he does that by 'pulling a few more weeds' or by just living his regular life, fixing people's problems as they arise, the only thing that could decide that is the criminal element. His is a reactive presence. He doesn't go out patroling the city, looking for criminals to kill. But crime in Calder City looks like it doesn't know well enough to leave his neighbourhood alone. |

It was loud, loving, strange, crowded, lavender-scented, and full of the ordinary little storms that pass through big families and leave everyone at the breakfast table anyway. Marth was one of six siblings, raised in a house where someone was always singing in the next room, arguing over toast, painting by a window, dancing barefoot through a hallway, or calling for a missing shoe that had somehow found its way into a cupboard. Marth's parents were loving, eccentric, and almost impossible to embarrass. His father was a painter, the sort of man who forgot time when color was involved, and his mother was a dancer who treated music as if it were passing through the body. His maternal grandparents lived close enough to feel like part of the walls. Together, the whole family helped run Old Prue Gables, a grand plum-painted Gothic Victorian manor named after his great great grandmother Prudence and passed down through generations, kept alive as a bed and breakfast. There were guest rooms with old quilts, staircases that complained at night, vases of drying flowers, and mornings full of eggs, coffee, sheet music, paint water, and relatives speaking over one another with great affection. But Marth's gift first announced itself through pain. Not his own, though it felt like his own when it came. His paternal grandfather was dying from a long, brutal illness, and Marth, still young enough to believe adults could keep the worst things behind closed doors, heard him mentally crying out in agony. The voice arrived inside him with no warning, intimate and unbearable, a private suffering that should have belonged to one man and suddenly belonged to a child too. That was the first time Marth understood he could hear what others never meant to give him. It was also his first real grief. After his grandfather died, music became the place Marth put what he could not bear to hear anymore. He discovered his singing voice almost by accident, then learned one instrument, then another, as if every new sound gave the pain a different room to rest in. His family, artsy and gentle and a little hippie in their old-fashioned way, did not teach him to fear his gift. They taught him restraint. They taught him privacy. They taught him that tenderness was not the same thing as permission, and that even love should knock before entering. Now Marth works as a middle school music teacher, which suits him so profoundly it seems less like a profession than a natural extension of his soul. He uses his telepathy carefully, rarely reaching deeper than surface thoughts unless he must, and even then with the unease of someone touching a door that may not belong to him. His life has been, for the most of it, lovely, ordinary if not magical, and kind, which is perhaps why recent discomfort sits so strangely on him. Since ending his first and only relationship after discovering his boyfriend had cheated, Marth has found himself visited by the kind of trouble he has never quite known what to do with: a scorned ex-lover appearing unannounced and drunk at his apartment in the middle of the night, wounded, insistent, and careless with the peace Marth has always tried to keep. It has left a lingering unease in him, a feeling of being watched for, wanted wrongly, interrupted in his own life. Marth is not used to fear arriving with a familiar face. Still, he tries to be sensible. He tries to be kind. He tries not to confuse pity with invitation, or softness with surrender. Most days, he succeeds. Most days, he makes gentleness look like its own kind of music.◈ A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S ◈ Telepathy: Marth is a telepath with telempathic undertones, allowing him to read and hear the surface thoughts of others with buried emotional impressions such as the fear, shame, grief, affection, anger, or calm that arrive to him as tone beneath the language, like hearing the chord under a melody. With focus, he can press deeper to reach into memories, though doing so requires more effort and carries a heavier moral weight. He can also communicate telepathically, placing his voice inside another's thoughts with a softness that can feel like comfort, warning, or trespass, depending on how gently he enters. Through this connection, others can respond to him with their thoughts in return. The telempathic undertone of his power grants him light influence of emotional states through telepathic contact. Marth cannot rewrite someone's heart or fully control their emotions like a true Empath, but rather he can project a kind of emotional tuning and resonance in small measures. When threatened, he can turn that inner voice harsher, bombarding someone with his own thoughts in a sudden psychic rush meant to disorient, overwhelm, and confuse, causing mental discomfort rather than physical harm. The telempathic aspect of this allows his thoughts to interrupt how someone's brain interprets sensations like sight, breath, pain, balance, fear, and numbness. So while the body remains physically intact and unharmed, Marth can use his telepathy to press a telempathic suggestion into someone's mind. He cannot make the body perform impossible damage, only convince the mind of a sensation. The effect only lasts while Marth focuses on projecting it, so it is temporary and completely psychosomatic. The target experiences the sensation as real enough to react because the body obeys the mind's panic. A person who thinks they have gone blind may stumble and freeze. Or a person who believes they are being suffocated may begin gasping and clutching their throat. He usually needs eye contact or a strong telepathic lock to do it well and it lasts only seconds unless he keeps concentrating and even then, he may experience psychic recoil if he pushes too hard or too long because Marth's naturally empathic nature makes him susceptible to feeling some echo of what he inflicts. ◈ Mindlight: The harsher aspect of his gift is a visible psychic manifestation that blooms at the center of his forehead as a swirling, rippling orb of pale pink mindlight, luminous as a small tide caught beneath skin and starshine. It appears only when he summons it, and once it forms, he must choose: hold, fire, or dismiss. Nothing happens passively. The orb must be released and must reach its target for the effect to take hold. A quick fire is rougher and stronger, capable of stunning someone or knocking them unconscious, but it often comes with an uncomfortable psychic recoil against him. A steadier hold allows for cleaner effects, such as sleep or direct emotional influence, while the longest hold can brush memory itself, requiring the most control and the greatest restraint. Because the orb is visible, it gives him away. Everyone can see the moment his power gathers. And because he can dismiss it, every use becomes a small moral trial: the charged, breathless pause between mercy and violation. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y ◈ Marth is still in the way a room is still after music has ended: not empty, only softly holding the last note. At twenty-five, he has the calm, picturesque manner of someone raised in a loving, somewhat eccentric home, among old songs, strange little family traditions, and five other siblings who taught him tenderness through teasing, fussing, and the occasional merciless correction. He is warm, easy-going, and storybook-classical in the bones, with an elegance that never seems rehearsed. He is not stern, exactly, but he does have standards, and his quiet judgment usually arrives as a tilted head, a gentle “Mm,” or a look that makes nonsense feel suddenly very aware of itself. There is an open warmth in him that often reaches his eyes before it reaches his voice. He laughs easily, sometimes at himself first, with the kind of soft, surprised brightness that makes a room feel less guarded. His care has a sheltering quality to it, old-fashioned and faintly enchanted: a lamp left on, a scarf placed over someone’s shoulders, a hand resting briefly on a student’s music folder before a recital, a half-hummed melody while he straightens chairs after class. As a middle school music teacher, he is patient with noise because he understands that noise is often only feeling before it learns where to go. He notices when a child has gone quiet, when laughter is covering shame, when a wrong note has become the whole world for someone small and trying very hard. He does not make comfort into a performance. He simply comes nearer and makes the room easier to be in. Beneath that gentle composure is a sentimental heart he cannot always keep neatly folded away. Marth feels deeply, though never with much melodrama. A remembered song can make him wistful. An old photograph can still him. A sweet, ordinary kindness can catch him off guard and leave him blinking it away with a little laugh, as if embarrassed by his own softness. There is something mystical about him, too, but not grandly so. More like a man who suspects every house has a favorite hour, every child has a hidden rhythm, and every silence is waiting for the right note to open it. Still, he tries to be sensible. He can be pragmatic when needed, even if his pragmatism often arrives with a teacup, a sigh, and a little too much feeling tucked underneath. He does not need to rescue people from themselves. But sometimes he tries. Not because he wants control, and not because he thinks himself wiser than everyone else, though he can be a little guilty of both in small, harmless ways. He does it because he is soft-hearted, because he believes people are often braver when someone quietly believes for them first. Marth is not tragic. He is not broken. He is simply tender in a world that can be careless with tender things. Most days, he makes gentleness look like its own kind of music. ◈ M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S ◈ Marth has no major goals right now, too busy focusing on his job as a middle school music teacher and helping run the family bed and breakfast to think beyond the present moment. Perhaps future events will drive him toward greater ambitions.◈ |

- | H I S T O R Y H I S T O R Y St. Dymphna’s Home for Wayward Youths began as a parish refuge in the early nineteen tens. It was a simple townhouse run by a small congregation that offered beds and meals to children who had nowhere else to go. When the Gray Death struck a decade later, Calder City was overwhelmed by the number of young survivors who had lost their families. Many of these children were healthy, but the city was still reeling from the pandemic and needed any available space to house them. St. Dymphna’s was one of the few buildings that could be repurposed quickly, so the city took over its operation and folded it into the early social care system. As the decades passed and hereditary alterations became a normal part of life, St. Dymphna’s continued to receive children who had slipped through the cracks. Some had minor abilities that made their home lives complicated. Others simply had nowhere else to go in a city that was growing faster than its support systems. The townhouse aged, the funding fluctuated, and the neighbourhood changed around it, but St. Dymphna’s remained a constant presence. It became known as a place that could handle complicated cases without ever being formally designated for superhuman youth. It was a home that shaped by a century of societal change, carrying that history quietly in its walls. Today St. Dymphna’s is an old building with peeling paint and mismatched windows, but it still serves the same purpose it did a hundred years ago. It shelters the young people who have nowhere else to go, whether their challenges come from the legacy of the Gray Death or from the ordinary struggles of growing up in Calder City. Joanie Porter grew up in a cramped apartment with a mother who worked too many hours and a stepfather who drank too much. Arguments were a daily occurrence. Her stepfather shouted, slammed doors, and blamed Joanie for everything that went wrong in his life. She was ten when her seismic ability first reacted to her fear and anger. The floor buckled. The walls shook. A section of the apartment collapsed and the entire building had to be evacuated. No one was killed, but the damage was severe enough that social services intervened immediately. Joanie never went back. St Dymphna’s has been her home ever since. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Seismic Projection. Joanie has the ability to release controlled or uncontrolled bursts of kinetic force that behave like small, localised earthquakes. The energy originates from her body and radiates outward through the ground, walls, or any surface she is in contact with. Joanie’s greatest challenge is control. Her power is tied to her emotional state, and strong feelings can cause the ground to tremble even when she does not intend it. She has developed coping strategies at St Dymphna’s, including breathing exercises and grounding techniques taught by Mrs Qadir. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Joanie’s time at St. Dymphna’s has shaped her into someone sharp and quick to defend others. She has a rebellious streak and a fierce instinct to protect anyone who reminds her of the frightened child she used to be. A master of Lethwei, The Mountain was able to turn his very body into a weapon against Calder City’s evils. The Mountain had an incredible healing factor, allowing him to push his body far beyond its limits and always get back up again. This is where he got his name, he was said to be as enduring and unbreakable as the mountains themselves. The Mountain's real name was Saw Chaw, and he was a fixture among the Vanguard, in and out of costume. A social worker by trade, Saw fought to keep the Vanguard fair, inclusive, and invested in the communities it sought to protect. He created community outreach programs, food and clothing drives for the homeless, and charity fundraisers. Even as The Mountain, Saw advocated for better protections for heroes' privacy and compensation for their appearances and likeness in media. Perhaps his biggest contribution was his fight against the practice of child sidekicks, striving to create protections for the youngest superhumans and prohibitions against their presence in the Vanguard. This crusade made it all the more surprising when The Mountain debuted his own child sidekick: Rock. Not one of Saw’s three biological children, but an adopted child, not from the local Saint Dymphna’s, but from parts unknown. Despite the pressures from Vanguard to return the child to civilian life, from colleagues and friends alike, Saw grinned and bore it. He seemed to know something everyone else didn’t. Persevering through the disapproval and the dangers of superheroics, Rock proved himself more than a capable student. He lacked The Mountain’s remarkable durability and healing, but made up for it in agility and martial prowess, demonstrating phenomenal mastery of Lethwei and Muay Thai for a boy his age. With every ounce of power his small body could muster, he could just stand alongside The Mountain as a worthy sidekick. But as Rock grew larger and his blows fell harder, The Mountain’s expectations grew. Rock had to be better: not just a better martial artist, but a better man, a better hero. It wasn’t long before their paths diverged. As The Mountain dedicated himself to his community, Rock found himself drawn into the world of combat sports. Enchanted by the depth and breadth of technique available to him, Rock found a way to better himself the same way he always had, straightforward training and mastery, free of The Mountain’s sensitivities. Growing into a young man, Rock travelled the world, training under a dozen masters and learning scores of moves, kata, forms, and more. He had, to his mind, nearly perfected his style. He competed in underground tournaments and took the hidden world of martial arts by storm. Yet, for every victory under his belt, every challenge overcome, each of his masters would insist he was not ready. He was not ‘complete’. He felt as though he was still the same sidekick, wasting away under the vanishingly little The Mountain had left to teach him. Until one week ago. Front page news: THE MOUNTAIN, SLAIN. Who could have done it? A hero of his adoptive father’s stature would have enemies, to be sure, but it was hard to imagine one that could cause The Mountain to crumble. How do you kill a man that can’t be killed? That can bounce back from almost anything? The only thing left for Rock to do is return to Calder City and find out. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S
M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Rock wants to find the one who killed his mentor and break them. Despite the years of distance between himself and Saw, the man was still the closest thing he had to a father. More broadly, Rock has always wanted to be the best. It was what Saw wanted, too. For Saw, being the best meant being the best at helping others, whether through the might of his muscles or the strength of his arguments. For Rock, it has only ever meant growing more knowledgeable, more powerful, for an end that seems less and less clear. |

Raised largely alone, Bret struggled to connect with others and found comfort instead in the landscape of his home in northern England. He spent much of his youth wandering the fells, climbing ridgelines, and swimming the freezing lakes of Cumbria, unknowingly nurturing his inherent superhuman ability which was an instinctive awareness of pathways, danger, and movement that rendered him unnaturally difficult to track, trap, or surprise. Though deeply shaped by his faith, Bret drifted from active religious practice as he grew older, eventually enlisting in the Royal Marines. His aptitude for navigation, reconnaissance, and situational awareness later drew the attention of British intelligence, where he served in a limited operational capacity attached to covert field work and surveillance. His career ended abruptly following a morally compromising mission overseas that left him deeply disillusioned with institutions and authority. Returning home to care for his terminally ill mother, Bret gradually rediscovered his faith not through doctrine, but through service — tending to her during her final months while reconnecting with his local parish community. After her death, he accepted a position through a church outreach program in Calder City, hoping both to rebuild his life and uncover whatever he could about the father who abandoned him. Now working as a parish outreach coordinator among Calder’s forgotten communities, Bret is known as a calm and dependable presence — quiet, compassionate, and intensely observant. He does not see himself as a hero, nor does he seek violence. But when corruption, exploitation, or cruelty threaten those under his care, Bret cannot abide it. When the traditional justice system fails, he walks the hidden paths others cannot see and unleashes his alter ego, The Pilgrim. Violent, quiet and wrathful. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Bret has an anomalous perceptual and physical gift, giving him an instinctive awareness of pathways, danger, and environmental flow. Rather than true precognition, it lets him sense the safest, most dangerous, or most important routes through terrain and unfolding events, often detecting ambushes, escape paths, or threats moments before they occur. This grants Bret an uncanny talent for tracking, infiltration, pursuit, and survival. This ability also enhances Bret physically beyond normal human limits without making him overtly superhuman. He has heightened senses, faster reactions, exceptional agility and endurance, and resistance to fatigue, pain, and harsh environments. Combined with military and intelligence training, these traits allow him to move through cities and wilderness with remarkable efficiency. His abilities are most effective in unstable or transitional spaces such as alleyways, stairwells, crowded streets, storms, wilderness trails, and collapsing structures. Witnesses often describe him as extremely difficult to follow, corner, or even notice. Unlike many enhanced individuals in Calder City, Bret’s abilities are subtle and instinctive. His powers do not grant certainty or invulnerability; it only reveals paths others fail to see. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Bret Lowther is a quiet, thoughtful, and deeply compassionate man who often comes across as reserved rather than intimidating. Raised in rural Cumbria and shaped by years of military and intelligence work, Bret possesses a calm, observant nature and an instinctive ability to make people feel heard and safe. He is deeply guided by faith, though his beliefs are personal and flexible rather than dogmatic; Bret values kindness, service, and human dignity above doctrine, and is known within his parish for his openness toward people of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. Though not naturally sociable, he listens carefully, remembers details others miss, and quietly builds trust through reliability and sincerity rather than charisma. This has adhered him to friends and lovers. Beneath his gentle demeanor, however, lies a capacity for extraordinary focus and controlled violence. Bret is highly disciplined, emotionally guarded, and more comfortable with danger than he wishes to admit. Years spent suppressing trauma and prioritizing duty over himself have left him prone to isolation and self-erasure, often believing his value lies only in protecting others. When confronted with cruelty or exploitation that cannot be ignored, Bret becomes cold, relentless, and unnervingly composed — a man capable of walking paths most people would never dare take. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Bret’s main goal is to simply do the right thing whenever and wherever he can. He wants to take care of the people in his adoptive home city and protect them in ways that the systems of the world fail to do. He doesn’t just want to take out bad guys, he’s there for support, to offer advice and counsel, recommend resources and help secure a community. He also wishes to find out more about himself and his family but this is by no means a priority. The longer he spends in Calder, the more Bret realises that many from his old spy network also have business there and not all of it is good. Having left intelligence for the very concept of moral decay? Seeing it happen again in his new home might just become something he can’t abide. All in all, Bret just wants to find his version of peace but heroes, villains and old spy contacts seem intent on dragging him into back into the fight. |

A new hero emerged on the scene in Calder City: the Queen of Blades, a young woman capable of flight and summoning ghostly blades that she could manipulate with tactile telekinesis. Behind the mask was May Morgan, an intern at Harper Mueller and Co. Attorneys At Law in downtown Calder City. A year into her career, she would form a heroic partnership with Shining Shield, a hero with the similar power of summoning apparitions of shields. The two would make names for themselves as heroes in the city, putting away countless criminals and several supervillains. The most prominent of these villains was Omega, a powerhouse with enhanced strength, speed, durability, and flight. While Omega was incredibly durable, the Queen's blades were able to pierce him nearly effortlessly. In 1999, May met Benjamin Knight, a local bartender that she would begin to date and reveal her heroic life to. Two years later, her partner Shining Shield died forming a barricade around her and a civilian as a building collapsed around them. Despite this tragedy, May continued her work alone, finding comfort in Ben. In 2002, May and Ben married in a small ceremony, and a year later their son Scott was born. At that point, May was a successful lawyer and Ben had opened his own bar in Midtown that was a popular spot on the weekends. Scott's early childhood was spent relatively normally, save for the fact that his mother was a beloved superhero who openly regaled her son with tales of her exploits, both old and new. Shortly before his 8th birthday, Scott's powers manifested when he summoned a ghostly shortsword in his hand while playing alone outside. At first he was amazed, swinging it around recklessly, but then he found he couldn't make it go away. He burst into tears and eventually his parents came outside to find him, his mother coaching him until he eventually managed to make the blade dissipate. May promised to train her son in the usage of his powers after his birthday. Then the day came when everything changed: October 12th. The Knight family was having a day out to celebrate Scott's 8th birthday, seated at a restaurant and waiting for their food to be served. The next thing they knew, the building was falling down around them, a hulking figure in a skintight bodysuit standing among the rubble. Omega. "Found you." Ben took Scott into his arms and ran as far as he could while May stayed behind to fend off Omega. Ben dropped his son off in a safe place and ran back to the restaurant to help his wife, Scott immediately sprinting as fast as his little legs would let him after his father. When Scott caught up to his father, Omega was nowhere to be found. What Scott did find was his father, holding the corpse of his wife in his arms. Omega was captured and taken into Vanguard custody shortly after the incident, only to escape several months later. He hasn't been seen since. A large public memorial service was held in Calder City for the Queen of Blades, and a small private memorial was held for May Knight by family and friends. The trauma of the attack and the loss of his mother caused Scott to withdraw, cutting himself off from friends at school. Ben tried his best to comfort his son while managing his own grief, but no matter how hard he tried Scott kept his distance. As Scott grew older and entered his teen years, this distance became outright hostility as he began to fall in with the wrong crowd, experimenting with drugs and alcohol as well as committing petty crime. His father couldn't figure out how to get through to his son, and their relationship fell to an all time low. One late night alone in his room, Scott dropped acid for the first time. The experience was a harrowing and soul-rending one as Scott found himself face to face with his mother, begging her son not to throw his life away. After he came back to his senses, it was as though a switch had been flipped in the young man: he cut contact with his delinquent friends and cleaned up his act, reconnecting with his father and reaching out to old friends, hoping to mend bridges he thought had long burned. The rest of high school passed by peacefully, Scott finally feeling as though he had recovered from his mother's death. He enrolled in an art school a few states away to study audio engineering in the university's music department. He hadn't even summoned his sword in years at that point. But inside of him there was still a yawning pit, a void that he didn't know how to fill. One night Scott was walking back to his apartment only to find a drunk man harassing a girl he knew, trying to force himself onto her. He knew he couldn't just let that happen. The young man stepped in, holding a glowing blade to the drunk's throat. The older man took off running as soon as the blade was lowered. Scott helped the girl back to her apartment and then went back home. It hit him: he needed to follow in his mother's footsteps. The next few weeks were spent going out at night wearing a ski mask and foiling low level crimes in the area around his university. As he did so, his grades and attendance dropped steadily, but to Scott, his burgeoning career as a crime fighter was more important. Eventually, he was forced to drop out and move back to Calder City, getting a job at a bar that wasn't his dad's and renting a cramped apartment by the docks. He continued his vigilante activities. His dad caught on pretty quickly when a vigilante using a ghost sword showed up in town the same week his son moved back. The two of them got into a long argument, Ben demanding that Scott give it up with Scott refusing to back down. Eventually Ben's anger turned to sadness and he began to plead with Scott, telling him that he didn't want to lose his son the same way he lost his wife. As much as it hurt him, Scott told his father that this is what he needed to do, and eventually Ben accepted defeat. Now, Scott is still working on establishing himself as a vigilante, moving up from a ski mask and a hoodie to a sort of city biker styled outfit. One of these days he's going to have to find out where Shield got his armor made, but for now it will work. Pretty soon, the Ace of Blades will be a household name in Calder City. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Spectral Weapons - Weapons made of pure glowing blue energy. Their sharpness, strength, and durability is dependent upon the user's willpower; the user can also manipulate these factors, making the weapon as sharp and strong as they desire, or conversely duller and weaker for non lethal usage. The weapons are effectively weightless, requiring finesse and skill more than raw strength to wield effectively. At the moment, Scott can only summon a single longsword, though over time he will be able to learn to summon different kinds of weapons such as axes, maces, spears, and other kinds of swords, as well as shields. Eventually, he will be able to summon multiple weapons at a time. Tactile Telekinesis - A subset of telekinesis, only capable of affecting Scott's spectral weapons as well as his own body. Scott has recently tapped into this ability, learning how to recall his sword back to him after throwing it. Eventually he will be able to deftly control his weapons when they aren't in hand, sending them flying around and controlling them in mid-air. The capstone of his development of his abilities will be learning to use this ability to fly. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Scott is a quiet young man, not as outgoing as he was as a child but not as misanthropic as he was as a teenager. He prefers to stick to the people he knows, rarely venturing to make new friends, but when approached first finds himself able to fall into pleasant conversations with people he doesn't know well pretty easily after feeling out the vibe. To those who know him well, he's a deeply compassionate person who strives to do right by everyone, though he often gets caught up in his own head thinking about everything that could go wrong. In costume, Ace of Blades hearkens back to both his mother's persona as a wisecracking yet compassionate heroine as well as Shining Shield's stoic man of few words attitude. Ace is mostly silent, though when he does speak it's usually to let out a sarcastic quip at the expense of whatever crook he's about to beat the crap out of. When dealing with civilians, he stays mostly reserved, but will freely offer words of comfort and assurance to those who are especially shaken up. As far as hobbies, Scott is an avid audiophile, producing music in his free time, collecting vinyls and CDs, and attending concerts and festivals when he can scrape up the money for it. He's also a huge comic book nerd, owning several mint condition issues of comics licensing the stories of real world heroes like his mother and Shining Shield as well as fictional superheroes from companies like DC and Marvel. On top of these framed issues, he also has entire crates of loose issues and many trade paperbacks. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S At the moment, Scott's two main goals are to make the streets of Calder City safer and gain renown as the inheritor of his mother's mantle. Everything else is secondary, including his civilian life. As much as he tries to deny it, he's also hoping that he can eventually be strong enough that he can avenge his mother in the event that Omega resurfaces, feeling that he won't be able to get closure until Omega is finally dead. |

Another forgotten aftermath of the latest threat in Calder City, taken care of by the latest favourite superhero. The City moved on while a family collapsed under the collateral damage. Before that point, before Silvio, before her propensity for funeral attendance, Eve had been as unremarkable as anyone else who simply looked heavensward with awe to see superhumans flying by. A girl who lined up for the latest marketed superhuman likeness in doll form. The life of a child born into a modern age that was shaped by its adaptation of miracles. In Calder City, it was not unusual for people to manifest something subtle but young Eve showed no such promise. Until thirteen. The accident that killed her family did not simply break her life, but reconfigured the way she experienced reality and all of her boundaries. The immediate aftermath left her suspended between her own survival and death. Dancing against the veil, and in the moment it happened, Eve's perception broke in all the ways that were so unlike all she knew. What appeared to her did not resemble anything she'd known before. i̷ ̷w̷a̷s̷ ̷i̷n̷ ̷a̷n̷ ̷a̷c̷c̷i̷d̷e̷n̷t̷ ̷t̷o̷o The awakening of Eve’s miracle was not outward, but a flower bleeding inward to align itself with the oldest of olds, and the truest truth of all. Death. The inevitability. In those short and endless final moments she was dragged through the final memory residues of her family, one by one and all at once. A dark and uncontrolled telepathy, shaped like a beautiful wound. Every memory that replayed to them as their lives ended; the last wave of brain activity before their long night. She did not simply sense their dying or witness it, ʇɐɥʇ ǝǝs pןnoɥs ʎpoqou she entered it as real and easy as any room or place she had been in before; a door that opened to her alone and dragged her in. In full, and uncontrolled form, she walked for weeks, lost inside this lingering interface of death energy as it ceased to behave coherently or chronologically. It channelled through her and her through it until they were one and she awoke back to the b living only seconds later. Before she could even name what it was and what had happened, and by the time she was retrieved from the wreckage, reality around her was secondary to what she had touched, what had been left behind, and what she could now feel in everything. An orphan, an anomaly, screaming with night terrors of things she’d seen; her insistence she’d been left for weeks and weeks in rubble didn't go over well. Somehow, it was Silvio Raciti ʰᵉ ᵏⁱˡˡᵉᵈ ᵐᵉ who recognised her, heard of her... Discovered her. A thing too rare to leave unclaimed. It was Silvio who placed a name on her rather than a label on a file. A crime boss operating within the city's shady corporate and political underlayers. But to Eve, he became her protector. ᵃˢᵏ ʰⁱᵐ ʷʰʸ ʰᵉ ᵈⁱᵈ Her first fixed point after the collapse. ᵃˢᵏ ʰⁱᵐ ʰᵒʷ⁻⁻ He believed her, and over time within his orbit, Eve was stabilised, educated, and gradually integrated into his hidden economy beneath Calder's regulated superhuman society. Her ability matured into a controlled function. She was not only sheltered, but used. Her gift a quiet instrument of leverage; secrets extracted from the dead, truths carried beyond living witnesses. Every time Silvio ᵐᵃᶠⁱᵃ ᶠᵘᶜᵏ ˢᵗᵒᵖ ʰⁱᵐ found a use for her, he bound her closer to his world through the continuity and through certainty there was nowhere else, and nobody else that could hold her. He is the closest thing she has to a father and to family. And he knows this. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Death Replay - The ability to gain access to what she has termed "death replays". Those final films and movie reels of consciousness as a life collapses, the abstract lived subjective fragments of life played in the last surge of brain activity before death. They are experienced as immersive environments that she can move through and interact with. Her access is strongest immediately following death where the emotional and cognitive residue and energy, link to the threads, remains intact. As time passes they degrade and become fragmented and unstable, and in some instances, monstrous. Echo Permeation- Sometimes, the memories persist and are extracted and embedded within Eve's "mind vault". These retained echoes are not full consciousnesses, but partial continuations and loops of unresolved thoughts, wishes, wants, and needs that persisted beyond death. They manifest as intrusive perspectives, or semi-coherent presences that occupy her cognitive space. Ghosts in her machine. Death Thread Sense- Eve can not reliably perceive death before it happens. Instead, she can feel her way through an ambient hum of death in threads unseen as an informational pressure field. It is a spatial awareness and a sense. It is the sound of eventuality and truth. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Composed, curated, friendly, happy, helpful, loving, kind. Spoiled Mafia brat? Sometimes. Love, fear, envy, regret, grief, violence; they are not abstract concepts to her but lived environments she has spent prolonged time inside. They just belonged to someone else once. Somewhere in the ocean of all of that sound and silence, a girl is lost and drowning in a void. She is distant, guarded, and deliberately difficult to get to know. Who is she, anyway? She would say that trust does not come easily to her, and that closeness to you is an exposure she cannot afford. She might be spiteful and threaten to read the threads around you. It is by her deliberate design. puǝıɹɟ ɐ spǝǝu ןɹıƃ ʎןǝuoן Sure, she can be sharp and chaotic. Parts of her are caustic and occasionally violent. Sometimes she is playful; but these shifts are less her own real traits than they are pressure releases, or the result an intrusive ghost pushing past the surface. She is deeply perceptive and quietly fractured. Eve can recognise truth, and can read your lies, yet she is never fully certain which parts of herself remain untouched by all she has absorbed. She moves through the world in colour, ǝɹǝɥ uı ʞɹɐp ʇı ƃuıʞɐɯ doʇs assembled from the luxury of eclectic shiny fabrics, expensive material things, tangible, real goodies that she can own. Curated aesthetics that keep her anchored with something solid when her mind threatens to dissolve. Underneath it all, the bond she has is the only place her existence feels singular after all. But it can't hold, can it? His mother, Helena Rallis-Reynolds, is not simply a hero in costume. She is a public institution. A crisis manager, philanthropist, strategist, and former field operative of Greek descent, Helena built her reputation on appearing wherever Calder City broke and promising that her family would rebuild it better than before. She is elegant, disciplined, media-perfect, and almost impossible to embarrass. Richard’s older sister, Cassandra Rallis-Reynolds, became everything the family wanted from the next generation. Beautiful, charismatic, powerful, and adored, Cassandra inherited a far more glamorous version of the family’s anomalous gift. Her abilities allow her to create shining gold-like structures, monuments, barriers, and architectural forms on a dramatic scale. The media calls her a living symbol of restoration. Sponsors love her. The Foundation loves her. Helena presents her as proof that the family legacy is still bright. But Richard’s power manifested differently.Where Cassandra creates beautiful structures, Richard finds cracks and his ability (sometimes called Aureate Mending) allows him to perceive fractures, stress points, and structural weaknesses in objects, buildings, machinery, and even bodies. Through touch, he can produce a strange gold-like substance that flows into cracks and hardens into luminous seams, repairing, binding, or reinforcing what has been damaged. The effect resembles kintsugi "broken things held together by golden lines." It is useful. Sometimes incredibly useful. But it is also deeply unglamorous. Richard does not create shining monuments. He crawls through collapsed buildings and seals broken support beams. He holds cracked concrete together long enough for civilians to escape. He splints shattered bones with golden seams that hurt like hell but keep people alive. He welds doors shut, patches damaged vehicles, stabilizes failing machinery, and reinforces broken armor, walls, bridges, or bodies. His power does not hide damage. It reveals it. And that made him the embarrassment of a family obsessed with looking flawless, specially if some of their constructions needed repair. Helena never knew what to do with him. Cassandra could stand in front of cameras surrounded by gleaming golden architecture and look like the future of Calder City. Richard emerged from disaster zones dirty, exhausted, shaking, and covered in glowing fracture-lines. His work saved lives, but it photographed badly. Online critics called him “the repair boy,” “gold glue,” “crackfinder,” and “the family maintenance staff.” The worst part is that some of the jokes were not entirely wrong and that make Richard grow up feeling like the useful disappointment. Not useless enough to be ignored, not impressive enough to be celebrated. His family brought him out when they needed sincerity, humility, or disaster-zone credibility, then pushed Cassandra forward when it was time for speeches, magazine covers, and public admiration. At twenty-one, Richard has started pulling away from the Foundation’s control. He still works rescue scenes, but increasingly on his own terms. He is beginning to realize that his power may be stranger than the family admits. Sometimes, when he touches very old stone, ancient metal, or places damaged by impossible events, the cracks speak back. Not in words, exactly, but in impressions: pressure, history, pain, memory. His family builds monuments and Richard listens to ruins. But one day, Calder City may need someone who understands broken things better than anyone else. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S He first realized his powers when he was 6 years old and have grown as he grew up Aureate Mending: Richard can produce a strange gold-like substance from his hands that flows into cracks, breaks, and damaged surfaces before hardening into luminous seams. This allows him to repair or reinforce objects, structures, machinery, and certain injuries. The effect does not erase damage but it stabilizes it, leaving visible golden lines behind. Fracture Sense: Richard can perceive stress points, cracks, weak joints, and structural damage in his surroundings. This makes him highly useful in disaster zones, collapsed buildings, damaged vehicles, and unstable environments. He can often tell where something is about to break, where pressure is building, or what needs to be reinforced first. This sense is not true precognition and does not tell him the future; it only reveals existing weakness and strain. Golden Binding: By applying his aureate substance offensively or defensively, Richard can bind objects together, seal doors, lock damaged mechanisms, reinforce barriers, splint broken limbs, or temporarily restrain enemies by fixing them to cracked surfaces or damaged equipment. This ability works best when something is already broken, stressed, or imperfect. Smooth, flawless, undamaged surfaces are harder for him to affect. Self-Reinforcement: Richard can channel his power through the microfractures and stress points in his own body, temporarily reinforcing his bones, joints, and muscles with thin golden seams. This gives him increased durability and physical strength for short periods, but it is painful and somewhat dangerous. Overuse can make him stiff, heavy, numb, or leave him with lingering golden marks beneath the skin. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Richard Rallis-Reynolds is guarded, observant, and quietly resentful. He grew up in a family obsessed with polish, public image, legacy, and restoration, but his own power does not create beautiful monuments or inspiring symbols. It finds damage. It exposes stress fractures. It leaves visible golden seams where something has broken. Because of that, Richard has developed a sharp eye for imperfection, both in structures and in people. He notices tension in a room, cracks in a story, discomfort behind a smile, and weakness hidden beneath confidence. This makes him perceptive, but not always kind. He can be blunt, suspicious, and difficult to impress, especially around people who seem too polished or too comfortable being admired. He is more introverted than extroverted. Richard does not enjoy cameras, speeches, galas, interviews, or public hero events. He has spent too much of his life being presented as part of the Rallis-Reynolds family image, usually as the disappointing younger heir or the humble “repair boy” beside his much more celebrated sister. Attention makes him tense, and praise often makes him suspicious. He has trouble believing compliments are sincere rather than strategic. Richard is not naturally cruel, but he can be bitter. He dislikes pity almost as much as mockery, and he reacts badly to being treated like a useful assistant rather than a hero in his own right. He is especially sensitive to jokes about being maintenance, support, or cleanup. The truth is that he is very good at rescue and stabilization work, but he hates that people often only value him after everything has already gone wrong. Despite his resentment, Richard is deeply protective. His first instinct in a crisis is to look for what is about to fail and hold it together. A collapsing wall, a damaged bridge, a wounded civilian, a panicking teammate...Richard is drawn to broken things even when he pretends not to care. He will complain, glare, and act like the situation is someone else’s mess, but he will still be the one kneeling in the rubble with bloody hands, forcing golden seams through cracked concrete until everyone else gets out alive. At his worst, Richard is defensive, jealous, and prone to pushing people away before they can decide he is not enough. He can confuse being needed with being used, and he sometimes assumes the worst of people who genuinely want to help him. At his best, he is loyal, practical, brave, and quietly compassionate. He understands damage better than most, and though he would never say it out loud, part of him believes broken things deserve to survive. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Richard wants to become more than the family’s useful disappointment. For most of his life, the Rallis-Reynolds name has defined him before he could define himself. His mother built a public legacy around restoration, perfection, and control. His older sister became the shining successor that everyone wanted to be... powerful, charismatic, beautiful, and easy to celebrate. Richard, by contrast, became the one sent into damaged places to patch cracks, stabilize failures, and make sure the family’s promises did not collapse in public. His immediate goal is independence. Richard wants to operate outside the direct control of his family’s foundation and prove that his work matters even when it is not glamorous. He is drawn to rescue operations, disaster response, damaged infrastructure, and street-level emergencies...places where his abilities are not just useful, but necessary. He does not want to be a mascot, a charity case, or a background figure in someone else’s heroic image. He also wants to understand the deeper nature of his powers. His golden seams do more than repair. Sometimes they respond strangely to old stone, damaged artifacts, impossible materials, or places touched by unexplained phenomena. Richard has started to suspect that his ability may not simply be a hereditary repair gift. It may be connected to something older, something hidden beneath the family’s clean public mythology. What Richard truly wants is not fame, though part of him still craves recognition more than he likes to admit. He wants respect. He wants to be seen as someone who holds the line when beautiful things fail. He wants to prove that repair is not weakness, that support is not inferiority, and that a broken thing held together with gold can become stronger than something that only pretends to be flawless. |

Dani, as she would eventually prefer to be called, was the light of her parents’ life. Theirs was not an affluent household, but what they lacked in money, they more than made up for in love. As a family unit, they were inseparable – but the connection between Dani and Michael was particularly special. He was the one who encouraged her love of music, who took her to see the movies her mother didn't like, who let her dye her hair. Though their antics sometimes exasperated Elena, it was all in good fun. Sadly, the good times would not last. One day, Michael left for work and never came home. While responding to a routine fire, he had been inside the building when the structure unexpectedly failed and collapsed. Reports from coworkers on the scene said that he had doubled back to rescue a trapped civilian. Michael's death devastated the family. Beyond the immediacy of the loss, bills started to pile up, and without her father's meditating presence, the relationship between Dani and Elena became strained. A little less than six months later, shortly before Dani’s sixteenth birthday, the situation was further complicated by the manifestation of her powers. While attending the Austin City Limits Music Festival, she was among the crowd when a malfunction at one of the main stages sent lighting trusses falling into the crowd. In what she would later describe as an out-of-body experience, Dani stepped forward and created her first light-shield. When another piece broke away and threatened the sound booth, she deflected it with a proton blast. She even flew for the first time, saving a young boy from being crushed. All of this was done in full view of tens of thousands of attendees… and their phones. Things progressed quickly after that. Within days, Dani and Elena were receiving interview requests, and news vans had taken up residence outside their home. Even more alarming were the legal complaints that followed: the stage contractor alleged that their equipment had suffered additional damage as a result of Dani’s actions, and one of the attendees cited vision impairment from exposure to her beams. That, in turn, led to more calls from legal offices wanting to represent Dani. The two women were swiftly overwhelmed. That's when PRG first entered into their lives. Dani and Elena were approached by a woman named Harlow Nash who claimed to represent the Paragon Representation Group, an agency which represented and promoted “superhuman talent.” Though she spoke with the practiced ease of an industry insider, she seemed genuinely sympathetic to the Carter family's plight and put their minds at ease about several of the issues they were facing. The press could be handled, she assured them, and these kinds of torts were common in the wake of a rescue like Dani's. With the expertise and experience of PRG, it was nothing the three of them couldn't handle. Soon, the Carters were presented with contracts to sign. They each had their reasons to be trepidatious, but after talking it over together, they decided to move forward. PRG could help them navigate their unique position, and the money they were offering would go a long way towards solving the family's financial troubles. More than anything, though, what settled the matter was Dani's insistence that she wanted to keep using her powers; she had enjoyed saving people – the way her father used to save people – and she wanted to do it again. Seeing that there was no way to talk her daughter out of this, Elena agreed that it would be better to do it with a team supporting her. Dani was fast-tracked, receiving a sleek costume and her very own codename: Aurora. Her life became a whirlwind of interviews, endorsement deals, and patrols. It was a lot of change in a short amount of time, but she was making a difference in the world. And she could fly! Though her powers were very new to her, it felt as though she had unlocked a part of herself that she'd always known had been missing. If the extracurriculars sometimes seemed frivolous and self-serving, it was still worth it to honor Michael's legacy as a hero. After a time, Dani and Elena made the decision to move to Calder City to be closer to the action. The incidents were more intense, the team-ups were more frequent, and Dani was really coming into her own as a hero. When she turned 18, she began enrolling in correspondence classes at Calder State University. That small taste of normalcy made her crave more. Over the years, Dani had felt a widening chasm between her public persona and the person she felt she really was. The interviews and speaking engagements gnawed at her. Dani didn't mind being a superhero; it was being a celebrity that she couldn't stand. She was growing tired of being others’ light. At 20, Dani announced her intention to start attending CSU full-time. She wanted to see the campus, to be around people her own age. She let Harlow and PRG know that she would be taking a step back from public life. Aurora was officially going on sabbatical. All that remained now was to see if Dani Carter even remembered who she was without it. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S
P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Dani is naturally guarded. Despite the nature of her powers, she's not someone who relishes being the center of attention. If anything, the past four years have only made her all the more eager to blend into the background. She fears rejection and thus mostly keeps to herself. When walking around campus, she'll keep her earbuds in with the hope that it'll deter anyone from approaching her. Truthfully, she's not sure how to interact with normal people her age. Dani has a rebellious streak. It was that way even before her father died, and his absence did not improve the situation. After four years in the industry machine, she has developed a hair trigger when it comes to being told what to do. She feels like she spent that time repressing herself, and she's eager to make up for lost time. She's done worrying what the “adults” will think, and she's certainly done asking for permission. Dani cannot abide liars and people who are fake, and she feels disgusted at herself for ever indulging that behavior. She has resolved to live truthfully and to surround herself with people who do the same. Though she's slow to trust, to those who worm their way past her defenses, there is no truer friend. She also can't help but want to do the right thing and help people, even as she tries to put Dani before Aurora. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Right now, Dani just wants to be Dani for a while. She'd like to find a network of friends who ideally know nothing about – or, at the very least, don't care about – her second life. She'd like to go to parties, stay up late watching movies, and, yes, maybe get some schoolwork done. More than anything, she just wants to see if she remembers the person she was before her life went insane. She is certainly under no illusions that her superhero-ing days are over, and she's prepared to step in if the need is dire. But it is her steadfast hope that in a city as large and as well-equipped as Calder City, someone else can watch the skies a while so she can keep her feet on the ground. |

Mallory woke up in a new body assuming his first life was a fractured dream, and went about returning to a life that felt unfamiliar in a body he didn't recognize. He died painfully a few years later. Mallory woke up sharply, gasping, still feeling the pain of his demise echoing through new limbs. Another life he didn't know, another face that looked like a stranger. This time he lived only a handful of months before death found him again. Mallory woke up for the third time and despaired. He took his own life the same evening. Mallory woke up again. For as long as he can remember, through as many lives as he cares to count, Mallory has lived, died, and lived again, remembering every fresh face and every new agony - with the key exception of that first life, his original life. He has not lived chronologically; some lives he wakes and walks through 20th Century New York, only to die and be reborn in 1500's Europe. He has seen humanity's growth in non-chronological order, and died to most of its worst atrocities and accidents. With every death, he feels a little more disconnected, and with every new life, a little more cavalier. His name isn't even Mallory - he's not sure he's ever woken up as a Mallory - but somewhere along the way it became the name he took for himself, the single solitary anchor for any kind of personal identity. Recently, the unthinkable has happened to Mallory: he's woken up in the same place, in the same body, in the same time period, more than once. Something is clawing at him through the pale, dragging him back to Calder City, determined to make him stay there. He just needs to figure out what. Maybe that's the key to his entire lives. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Doomed Reincarnation Mallory didn't actually realize he had 'powers', not that he refers to his condition as such, until his second death. His first life, as far as he is aware - the two or three fleeting, banal glimpses he has - was as normal as anyone else's: he was born, he grew, he eventually shuffled off the mortal coil...and then he woke up as someone new. He wrote off those glimpses as fragments of a forgotten dream, getting on with his new life, as unfamiliar as it felt - until he met a grisly end, and woke up once more. This time, he remembered his previous life, and his previous death, and took those fuzzy memories of the life before that one a little more seriously. Since then, Mallory has spent uncountable lives over uncountable years waking up as someone new, being delivered unto an unpleasant death, and waking up again to do it all over. He remembers every life except for his first, and every death equally, the pain of it seared as scars across his consciousness even as he meets new, pristine bodies. He doesn't know why, but he knows, or believes, he's cursed - and so far, he hasn't been able to break it. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Through his many lives and deaths, Mallory has developed a distinctly aloof, laissez-faire attitude toward daily life, spending freely and hedonistically while awaiting his inevitable doom, knowing that whatever he has he won’t be able to hold onto; he keeps enough to carry on living, but never plans ahead further than the next week. At the same time, he’s become incredible world-weary, having watched humanity crush and rebuild itself for thousands of years, and while he has seen some of the wondrous achievements of Man, his fated death also means he’s experienced first-hand most of society’s greatest failures and deepest atrocities. While full of life experience, wisdom, and compounded knowledge, Mallory keeps others at a deliberate distance, knowing that at best he will simply invite needless grief into people’s lives, or at worst take them down with him when his doom arrives once more. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Mallory is ready to die. Which is to say, Mallory is ready to age with grace and slip away peacefully at the end of a calm and generally-unremarkable life, and not wake up again on the other side of the globe in another unfamiliar body. He is aware, or at least completely set in his belief, that some long-forgotten sin from that elusive first life has burdened him with this heinous curse; his only goal now is to either atone for it, redeem himself through other grand magnanimous acts, or break the curse through any means necessary. |

Lucie didn't come from a life of luxury despite being able to say that she took frequent trips to Paris in her youth; the benefit of living only a couple of hours from the city of lights itself. Her father was the head chef in a small, but renowned, restaurant that vaulted him to minor celebrity status when he, for two seasons, was the judge of a culinary competition program. He resigned from the position upon realizing the show was more about drama than the art of cooking, but walking out of the contract buried him in legal issues. Lucie thought her father was an idiot for walking out on a job like that, an opinion she shared with him and an opinion that led to physical discipline and grounding. Her mother had a simple job as an elementary school teacher. If either of her parents had abilities, they never brought it up with Lucie. Not even when she got in trouble at school for using her newfound powers to cheat on tests. Of course she knew what the Gray Death was, such a monumental part of history was included in any curriculum, but she had never considered she might be one of the lucky ones. Once she did discover her powers, she took the opportunity to use the power of technology to her advantage. Her father had managed to become more widely known thanks to a crappy cooking show so it stood to reason that Lucie could become even more well known. Famous, even. She didn't seek luxury or even covet fame, but what was the point in having powers and not using them for one's own benefit? Sure, some weirdos out there found satisfaction in being some kind of inspirational figure, but why should inspiration have to only be on those that did good? By the time Lucie was twenty, she had moved to Paris and was performing at local festivals while also releasing music and videos on social media. It started simply enough, a girl with a guitar and a voice. But overtime it grew. Backing vocals. Drums. Bass. Keyboard. At first, it was easy to make it seem like her videos were edited well, that she had simply put forth a lot of effort to make her one woman band videos, but the truth was simply staring people in the face: Lucie had powers and she wasn't hiding behind a mask or an alias. Unless, of course, a stagename counted. By the age of 25, Lucie had two albums on the charts and had moved to Calder City which was a move meant to broaden opportunities and network. Under the name of Lucie Quatre, she began performing live concerts and gigs, notable for both the costumes and show elements as much as she was the music, every Lucie Quatre show was an experience that she hoped was unforgettable. Lucie did it all. Vocals, drums, guitar, keyboard, dancing. And yet, there were four of them. Four of her. A one woman band in four parts. Now in her thirtieth year and with her songs on the airwaves and her name on the lips of people, Lucie can't imagine a better life. But every star has to fade eventually. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Lucie has the ability of Self-Duplication. She can create perfect, identical copies of herself. Anything on her person other than clothes does not get duplicated along with her though anything in the possession of a duplicate when returning to the main body is kept in Lucie's possession. Her duplicates share feelings and sensations; if one duplicate is injured, all of them feel it. Lucie can only duplicate herself six times at the moment, though she believes that number can go higher if she truly tried; she's never had to use more than five at any given moment thus far. The memory of a duplicate is shared amongst each other and retained by the original. This is how Lucie Giroux, under the stage name of Lucie Quatre, has been able to play every instrument and sing in her shows: she learned to sing and play music with her duplicates learning instruments. Killing a duplicate doesn't kill Lucie, but it does black her out for an unspecific amount of time. Any injury sustained by the duplicates is given to Lucie when returning to the original body. Lucie has gotten to the point where she can give her duplicates different haircolor when she makes them, which she uses to differentiate between herself on stage. Lucy Prime has dark brown hair. Lucie Too (drums) has orange hair. Lucie Trois (guitar) has lavender hair. Lucie For (keyboards) has pink hair. Lucie is typically seen with three other duplicates when on stage, hence the Quatre part of her stage name. But that leaves two Lucie's unaccounted for whenever she's on stage... P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y It's certainly easy to write Lucie off as vapid and fame obsessed because, well, she's made it perfectly clear that she is obsessed with celebrity status. She can be rather egotistical but that comes with the territory of fame. Why not embrace the fact that her shows sell tickets and her brand deals make money for companies? It might lead some to think she has no morals or scruples; Lucie would disagree. She has morals. They're just for sale. Charismatic and magnetic, Lucie commands a room as easily as she does a stage, but when the spotlight stops shining and Lucie is left alone in her penthouse with only a view and herself for company, it makes a woman wonder if talking to herself, literally, is a substitute for something genuine. Does she have friends, or does she have dogs at her table looking for scraps? One benefit of her powers is that Lucie never feels the need to censor herself. Even in front of a camera if she speaks her mind and lets some vulgarity or sizzling comments slip, she can always just say it was one of her duplicates, not her. Of course, this also suggests that Lucie is quite good at lying. Lucie is emotionally intelligent, though, and has a passion for the arts. She's not above doing charity appearances and treats them as important as her regular performances. Sure, the argument is that it's all performative, but Lucie has gotten good at tuning out the noise like that. Her opinions are out there, on social media, in her interviews, and she'll stand by each and every one. She finds the idea of using one's power for altruistic reasons to be idiotic and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. In her mind, everyone with powers is selfish, she just admits it. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Lucie wants to win awards. It's not enough to sell out concerts, she wants to be someone that shows what a super powered individual can do beyond being, well, a hero or whatever the hell they do. If someone who listens to her music is inspired to not hide their ability, no matter how quaint, then she'll consider that a worthy cause. She wants her name in the books and not simply tabloids. Hell, why not try to cross over into other forms of the spotlight? She bets she could be a hell of an actress. For Lucie, the sky's the limit so long as her name is written in the stars. |

Born to a real estate agent and an arena maintenance worker in the heart of the BC interior, the young girl was immersed in the best of Canadian culture. Growing up around the rink as her father kept the Sandman Arena ice in immaculate form, it was natural for Michelle to have an affinity for frozen exploits. Unbeknownst to the local population, Paul Tierney was a super, and his daughter inherited his gifts, but wanted to take them to the next level. The young woman was a star hockey player growing up, but was unable to parlay that into long term success after taking a crushing hit into the boards during her junior year at Minnesota. She swore there was super speed at play, but either way her shoulder and knee were so banged up she wasn't able to physically maintain the pace on the ice without tapping into the powers her father swore her to keep quiet about. Michelle quietly retired and started looking into acting as a way to get the fame she thought she deserved while hiding the powers she felt the world deserved to see. She moved to Vancouver following graduation and landed a few minor roles in local TV productions before moving to Calder City five years ago to try her luck in a more vibrant setting. While she was unable to parlay her Canadian credits into something more substantial, she found a home on a stage in the West End as part of a regularly performing burlesque show under her stage name Crystalline. It isn't glamorous, but it helped pay part of the bills, with the other half coming from her barista duties during the daytime. Her reputation has been growing within the social scenes, hopefully leading to a brighter future in the city. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Michelle, much like her father Paul, possesses cryomancy abilities. She has the ability to form ice crystals using moisture in the air around her and form it to her whim. Paul subtly used this ability to create the smoothest ice surface in Canada, as well as make sure his family enjoyed the full pleasures of Canada's winter wilderness, but was adamant that they didn't need to make a fuss about it so that people were coming to them for everything. Michelle doesn't subscribe to that theory and has been expanding her abilities while in Calder City. She is able to control the temperature of liquids she touches in order to chill them, hence her iced mochas being the best ones on offer at AlleyCat Coffee House. She can shape frozen liquids with ease, forming perfect ice balls for drinks and perfect tiny blades when she's threatened. Her favorite trick to do is one she has perfected on stage. One of her fellow cast members will spray a gentle mist from an elevated position and Crystalline will harden the droplets in a flash, creating a surreal diamond-like shimmer to surround her as she's spinning and dancing, like a brilliant flurry. Michelle also has the ability to withstand frigid temperatures with ease, almost always seen in a pair of shorts and a tank top even in the coldest weather Calder City has to offer. The problem for Michelle is that given her father's clamping down on the abilities the family was given, she has no idea what she can actually do with them. Can she make a frozen death ray that coats a city block? Can she bury an unsuspecting villain in a sudden avalanche? How quickly is she able to create an ice sculpture of Calder City Cougars star Brycen Daniels? These are limits she's never tested, and wants to push, but it's tough to do that without attracting unwanted attention. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y There are three personas to Michelle, that all show various facets of her personality. The Michelle that holds a senior server position at AlleyCat is a perfect example of Canadian politeness. She can tell by a glance what kind of drink or baked good a person usually needs, and is willing to offer a friendly ear for a moment or two while someone is chitchatting waiting for their order. She maintains a level of responsibility and a watchful eye over her co-workers to the point where she gets referred to as "Auntie Chelle" by some of the younger members of the team. She's not thrilled about that distinction, but she wears it all the same in the coffee shop confines. The Crystalline persona is confident, sultry and demands to be the center of attention, all traits that Paul Tierney would have despised seeing his little girl portray out in public. When Michelle puts on that ice blue wig and dusts the rhinestones onto her face, any visage of submissive behavior takes a backseat to the woman who commands the room with a frozen fist. Crystalline doesn't fear anything or anyone, and does her best to project that value for people in the crowd that need a reason to believe. With all the attention some supers have been getting, she wonders if she should take her act to the next level, maybe doing an ice knife throwing routine with volunteers. She has no doubt she could make it work. The woman that remains when both those identities are cast aside has some issues to work through. Michelle knows that she didn't capitalize on the gifts she had in the arena, nor in front of the camera, and she is a little neurotic about it now that she's crossed over the 30 threshold. She does her best to hide it on the rare occasions she goes out socially, but it eats at her and does color her actions even without the costumes she wears at both her jobs. Plus, being single, she worries that she's been too cold to those that might try to get to know her closely and thus she remains in her one-bedroom apartment with only her cat for company. Not that Snowflake isn't good company, but while Michelle is trying to piece together these psychological conundrums, the Ragdoll cat can only offer a stare that demands soft food, and that doesn't set the Canadian's mind at ease. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Turning 30 puts some things in perspective, and it's finally convinced Michelle that hiding her abilities in the shadows are not the way to go to accomplish what she wants in life. Her father was adamant that relying on powers to get ahead in the world was no way to find satisfaction, but then what is? Michelle's done playing down her powers, and she wants to use them, get better with them. Get the fame that she knows she was destined to achieve before life waylaid her plans with various pitfalls. Maybe it's time for a third job to get her name on people's lips. If Crystalline can wow the crowds at the theater, then surely she can do so in the streets of Calder City as well! Proving to herself and to her father that their cryomancy isn't something to be sheltering from the world is now a rising goal in her mind and she is certain she can handle the rising notoriety and pressure it would bring. It has to be better than what she's doing now. If she can't fully be herself in Kamloops or Vancouver, she sure as hell would do it in Calder City. Secondary to those goals is the hope that Michelle can finally find her people, ones that don't need the barista or the burlesque personas to enjoy her company. While she has friends among her co-workers and fellow performers, they only see the versions of Michelle that suit those particular worlds. Ultimately what Michelle needs is someone who can help shoulder the load of what she's been carrying since the first time her father told her not to do anything that would bring attention onto the family, and help her take the next step in her evolution as a superhuman. |

The second son of a local mob boss. His life was spent learning how to live in the Russian Mafia. A life that Yulian would sometimes struggle with as he tried to make his father proud. While showing a skill in violence and intimidation. There was always a softer, kinder part of himself that he would hide from his father. A trait he got from his mother before she died of cancer, and he learned to hide it well. It was when he was eighteen that things changed when Yulian discovered his powers, as his father would call it. A power different from the one his father and older brother had. Which made Yulian's father treat him less as a son and more as a weapon. Using his power to kill and intimidate rivals, and Yulian's father would grow ambitious. Using Yulian as a means to advance higher in the Russian Mafia and secure his older brother's role in the mafia. Yulian was not okay with being used and treated like this, but he felt powerless to stop the ambition of his father and because of his father's power inflicted pain on him. His brother did nothing to stop this and let it happen. As his father had made it clear, if he ever disobeyed or betrayed him, then Yulian would regret it immensely and saw examples of his father's wrath. So Yulian spent years as a weapon and lived under his father's thumb. The only thing that helped him through this time was Milda, an orphan who had come into his father's service, albeit by some force. While Yulian was indifferent to her at first. The two would grow to bond with each other over the years and had a good relationship with each other. Mirroring the relationship, he had with his mother before she died. One day, as Yulian was spending time with Milda. His father's plans fell apart as the mafia's higher-ups discovered his plans to assassinate a fellow mod boss and ordered the house to be cleaned, with the mafia sending fighters to deal with his father and his men. Which Yulian and Milda were caught in the middle. In the chaos of the conflict, Yulian's father was killed, and Yulian and Milda took the opportunity to escape and flee the city. Using what funds he had, Yulian took the pair far from Russia. Yulian never knew what happened to his brother. Eventually, taking them to America, where they would move around until settling in Calder City. Where Milda would attend high school and later college in the city. Yulian would take up work as an assistant at a local gym after a stint as a nightclub bouncer. Yulian wishes his new life to be a quiet one, and he can forget his old one. But sometimes, the past has the tendency of not staying dead. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Yulian has the ability to create organic constructs from his body. Such as shaping his arms or part of his arms into blades. Creating a shield from his body and other uses. Which can be of varying strength and durability. The construct cannot leave his body and is always attached. He can still feel pain if the construct is hit or damaged. His body can only use a few of these constructs at a time, as if he uses too many constructs at a time, then his body will start to break down, unable to support the constructs. He has to reabsorb the constructs to save his body and rest before he can use a construct. He can reabsorb a construct at any time. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Due to his past and upbringing, Yulian is a guarded person who does not like to talk about his past before coming to Calder City. While he does have blood in his hands, he is not one to kill pointlessly since leaving Russia, and does not have the desire to kill again. In an attempt to distance himself from his past as his father's weapon. From the outside, Yulian seems like a reserved and distant person. Which is half true, as he has numbed to a degree from his past life. He never wants to be in a situation like that with his father again. Yulian has grown to resent anyone who seeks to use him for their own selfish goals. As he does not want to be a slave to anyone again. More so if crime and the mafia are involved. He will not follow anyone who thinks of him like a weapon and nothing else. Underneath his baggage lies a person who can be a kind and gentle being. Always there for those he cares about and values the friendships he has. Always a listener who someone can confide in and can be trusted to keep a secret. Which Yulian can be warm to those he trusts and considers friends. But he can be cautious about others, more so if they remind him of someone from his past life. But if the need arises and something happens to her, if his past comes knocking or something else entirely. Then he may have to act and be something he never thought of ever being. |

Michael Grant was born in Columbus, Mississippi with hardly a penny to his name. Despite the meager means, Mike was a religious man with a strong work ethic. In essence, he was a diamond in the rough. He wasn't given a good start at life but he had an unorthodox brilliance that he never had the chance to expand past high school. That brilliance latched onto his only passion in life, boxing. Mike Grant was a legend in 80s as a boxer and became a World Heavyweight champion. His tour of the world in matches brought him to Ho Chin Minh City for an exhibition which would, as it turned out, shape his legacy. Thi Tam was born about an hour outside of Ho Chin Minh City to a agrarian family. It was a simple life but given Thi Tam's high marks in school, she had the opportunity to move to Ho Chin Minh City for a higher education. While there were certainly ambitions, the pressure had gotten to her and she got absorbed into city and its vices. As a means to afford some of her lifestyle, she took the job as a ring girl. It paid well and was easy work. Le Huu Toan vs Michael Grant was just any other night ideally but there was something to say about capturing the eye from the best of the best... Nine months later, Jade was born to a stressed Thi Tam who cradled her daughter in one hand and clutched a ticket to the United States in the other. She couldn't support a child on her own and the father of her daughter was wealthy enough to support them tenfold. Surely there would be no difficulty in convincing him because what other choice did Thi Tam have? The first meeting did not go well. While the obvious similarity in Jade was present, Mike was at the tail-end of his career. He was already married and was looking to enjoy a quiet retirement. How could his life possibly be upturned now? He wouldn't have it and when Jade's mother pressed a second encounter, Mike almost got away except for the crying Jade lashing out with a ghostly hand gripping at the man's finger. It may have seemed like divine providence then for that superhuman ability to manifest suddenly there but that's how Mike took it. He'd figure it out because despite his legend, this might be a greater legacy for him. Jade's upbringing, as you can imagine, was complicated. Her mother was a mistress of a boxing legend and were tucked away to try and prevent controversy. The controversy was inevitable and her childhood was not smooth given her mother often fought and lashed out due to the circumstances while her father was scarce. It wasn't until her father divorced his wife, life imploded in poor decisions before it calmed enough for him to try and focus on what he had left. Jade. In her teens, she saw a lot more of her father who took a keen interest in her. He tried to avoid the limelight now but he was especially interested in her superhuman power. Jade, in turn, took an interest in what her father did, boxing. She was trained up with her father's full attention because it was something that had brought him joy. It brought her joy as well finally having a father in her life. She may have not had the smarts of her mother but she did take to her father's athletic ability. Her power only amped that up a hundredfold. When she was finally an adult, Jade pleaded to become a boxer but there was no room for an enhanced human that could throw a hundred punches with a hundred arms. She had no attention for school or anything else so when the opportunity came up, even if of a questionable legality, she'd take it. Enter Harborlight. In her twenties, she had become a staple fighter in the underground arena, craving a fierce reputation but with that came the sleaze of the business. Under both threats and payouts, she got tangled up in fix fighting and other odd ends that while trying to keep her nose clean, certainly has her entering into a spiral that she is starting to regret. Would there be a way out if she wanted to leave but did that mean hanging up her love of fighting? A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Phantom Limb The more unique aspect of Jade's ability is the projection of a translucent body part that simulates the copied part. Generally, Jade applies this ability to mimic an arm or a leg. The phantom copy is 1:1 with Jade's real body part and is projected from a place that anatomically make sense, like an arm from the shoulder. One phantom arm will be as strong as her real arm, for example. Yet the energy of exertion of that phantom copy is compounded per additional copy. While one copy of an arm to punch will be roughly the equivalent of a normal punch, ten arms punching at once will feel like the equivalent exertion of a 100 punches. Yet the advantage of manifesting more than one arm is evident in the feature of stacking phantom copies on top of each other. Ten arms will be ten times the strength and so on on a linear improvement. Not to mention the extra limbs capable of contending with additional tasks. Fighter Physiology Jade has worked hard to keep in top physical form which would place her at an Olympic level but she'd likely still lose contests against regular humans without powers. What she does have the edge in compared to any other person is endurance, specifically when it comes down to taking a hit. Her skin is a little tougher, bones a little denser yet flexible, her tolerance for pain exceptionally high. She has grit, trialed and tested. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Jade is fairly reserved in nature. The kind of woman to keep her statements short and sweet without feeling the need to elaborate or expand. It is like she keeps her guard up the whole time without ever really trusting anyone to lower it. There is an underlying sharp wit with her but that pairs nicely with her high amount of self-confidence. She would be outright cocky if that wasn't beaten out of her in the fights that she has had in the past. She lives simply and has a passion for hard physical work and challenges. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S Imagine Rocky but with the sleaze of fixed fighting. Jade is pure of heart but just tangled up with her passion, taking the first opportunity to punch someone. How will she escape is to be determined but I'm looking for things to go bad before Jade is able to redeem herself properly. She isn't a hero yet but one that I plan on becoming one. |

Leo was born to decorated Sergeant Major Lee Choi and Novelist Ji-Woo Choi, two people who were bonded by love from the moment eyes were locked. Leo would not be the only one born that day as several minutes before him was the birth of his twin brother Lucas. A hidden twin scenario, both boys were loved unconditionally, given a home that most would kill for. The boys didn’t know the type of life that was waiting for them. During their childhood, Lee would be faced with the reality of what was known as an Army Brat. There was never a steady place of living for those born to those within the military, specifically for the twins whose father was high ranking in the army. From place to place they would move, from a few months to a few years, each move would bring them a new life, new friends, and new bullies. Leo could feel the frayed thread they wove through life, Lucas unable to handle the constant change, always in trouble and dragging his brother alongside him. Highschool would be different as both boys would learn that they carried gifts, superhuman abilities that could change the very fabric reality. Leo was gifted with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy while Lucas inherited the ability to control gravity from their father. Lee would end up taking his sons out of school with the intention of homeschooling, teaching them in a similar manner to how the army trained him, even acting as a mentor in how to control the powers they were gifted with. Their father’s teaching would bring them to the exact moment they had always been raised for.... military life. The moment they graduated from high school, the twins were indoctrinated into the military, but they took a different path from their father. Instead of the Army, both boys were recruited into the Marines, a notion Lee agreed with. His boys were ready, and Leo took his new career quite seriously. With his powers, he would rapidly ascend above his station, showing discipline, determination, and poise at every moment. The marines were tough, but Leo never wavered. He was a true soldier through and through, but he also contained something else. His commanders could see that Leo had a heart, always protecting those around him, and leading by example. Lucas, on the other hand, was constantly struggling and lagging behind his brother, Command seeing him as useful due to his abilities, something that would drag Lucas farther down. Years would pass as the twins would go on many operations for the Korean government, Leo acting as a commanding officer due to his rank of Master Sergeant. An operation would change everything about the trajectory of the twins’ lives. What was meant to be a joint operation between Vanguard and Marines would end in bloodshed. An ambush from an unknown group, Leo would take command quickly to save as many people as possible. Unfortunately, he would be unable to save one person, his father. An explosion would take out their convoy, killing his father before Leo’s very eyes. There was one thing that Leo held tight to his chest that day, the image of his brother leaving with the attackers, unable to rationalize why his brother would betray him. His father’s death hit Leo hard, while life in the marines had prepared him to lose his brothers in arms, to be able to handle death with dignity, Leo would take time to himself to cope with the loss, taking care of his mother in the meantime. Though there would be a light at the end of the tunnel, due to his actions catching the eye of Vanguard’s leader, they would come to him for recruitment, to do more for the world than he could just within the Marines. Leo would accept almost enthusiastically to make his father’s death mean something but, Vanguard had also propositioned him with one more thing, the knowledge of his brother’s whereabouts. With an image of him within Calder City, he would be transferred to be given the chance to right the wrong of his twin and avenge the death of his father. A B I L I T I E S A B I L I T I E S Kinetic Energy Manipulation - Leo was born with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy, primarily for absorption. This manipulation presents itself as a thin field of inertia around his body. Kinetic is robbed from objects, potentially from energy based attacks, diminishing their impact and metabolizing the energy within his body. His body acts as a reserve turning himself into a kinetic battery of sorts. Every step provides him with a small source of kinetic energy to absorb. Leo's main limitation is that his body resets during periods of a loss of consciousness, slowly draining his body of his kinetic energy reserves. Secondly, his body can only handle a set amount of Kinetic energy, actively causing him pain when at the max he can handle, eventually needing to expel this energy outward. The expulsion of energy radiates outward from his whole body violently, too much energy built up can tear his body apart if he does not willingly release it all, forcing him back to his base abilities. Kinetic Strength - Leo's strength grows with how much he absorbs, allowing him to strike and lift at levels beyond what a human can do. A properly energized Leo can lift cars above his head, and tears apart metal with his bare hands. With great effort, at the max he can handle, Leo can lift a semi truck. His potential will only grow as he trains to handle greater levels of kinetic energy. Kinetic Speed - With increased levels of strength comes the ability to run faster than your greatest Olympian when he is properly energized. Leo is not to be confused with a speedster. This speed also extends to his ability to punch and kick, growing faster with each passing absorption. Leo can uniquely rotate kinetic energy throughout his legs to give his legs enough strength to propel his entire body forward like a bullet. Kinetic Durability - The inertia field gives Leo a small level of protection so he is always enhanced in this area. Once again, proper absorption of kinetic energy strengthens his body, toughening every part. By virtue of the body becoming tougher, he can survive in harsh conditions and extreme environments longer than the average human. Kinetic Stamina/Endurance - Leo can fight for extended periods of time and stay awake to a superhuman degree as long as he has sufficiently absorbed kinetic energy. Pain tolerance and fatigue have a far higher threshold while energized. Part of the reason is that Leo is a tough fight. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S To keep things simple, Leo is motivated by the image of his father. A stern man who took discipline and duty seriously, Leo saw him as a hero who taught him to fight for those lesser than himself. Despite how hard he was on his boys, Leo never was ungrateful, which helped him see the path his father had blazed for him. He is staunch in his goal of protecting people and making the world safer. Some would call him a naive boy scout. He is willing to give his life in service to others as he has on the battlefield many times. As a Vanguard Agent, he believes it is his duty to use his newfound role to pave the way forward for those to follow. On the short term, he harbors vengeance in his heart for his brother. The anger at his father's death and his brother's traitorous turn spurs him forward day and night. Even he does not know if justice is truly what he wants or to release the anger building inside himself. |
