Your first RP character

Tell everyone about your first RP character. Bonus points if you can point out why they were horrible.

So my first character's name was Gail. He was a demon hunter who worked for an interdenominational demon hunting agency, the Silver Myths. Basically, evil creatures from other worlds would traverse dimensions and had to be stopped. He wasn't an edge lord. While he did have that tragic death in his past, it was never the defining point of his character. He could laugh, smile, get angry, and show a lot more emotion than the "angry man" and "shy girl" that he typically hung out with. Gail also wasn't a pretty boy. I think I described him looking something like Frankenstein's monster. Sounds okay so far right?

His backstory was pretty bland. He had been alive for a good four to six hundred years, and he had no notable accomplishments. Gail could have been twenty and his skill set would have been the same. He just kind of knew how to swing his scythes around. Yes, scythes, plural, he duel wielded them. No, you can't realistically fight like that. But when you just write "he slashed the beholder and it fell in half" You can get away with it. I was also really "good" at writing body horror, so my fellow teenagers were able to forgive my bland fight scenes. He was also half angel and half demon for some reason. It was never really explained. I mean, he had human parents, his soul just split like that after he died. Probably the worst part was that I made this guy for a devil may cry RP.

My First Character

Name: Grim
Age: 21
Occupation: Unknown
Equipment: Custom machete and Magnum in a black holster.
Description:A hooded and masked man. He is about 6 feet tall. Weighs 150 pounds. Grim relies more on his wit than strength. He wears his mask to hide the hideous scars on his face though no one knows where he got them. He is of average build.
Short Bio: His parents were killed when he was young so he stayed with his paranoid Great-Aunt who was afraid to leave the bathtub. When he became 18 he enlisted as a soldier to defend an outpost. He didn't make that far. The outpost was eventually overrun with zombies but Grim escaped. He wandered around for awhile barely having enough money for food. After that he went to live with his cousin in an outpost. Grim has great parkour abilities. He wasn't taught anything, everything he knows now came from survival. Either that or death. He now works as a "detective" basically he looks for missing people. Little kids that wandered into the zombie infested city, scientists, mercenaries, STALKERS,etc. He'll take any job that involves him shooting something.

I actually found the character sheet, and I'll just let it speak for itself because I'm too fucking embarrassed to talk about it.

Oh man my first character was from a dragon age RP almost a decade ago. I wrote a young teenage elf mage, who was supposedly next in line for keeperhood but hates it because she's a rebel or some shallow reason like that. She was a basic, annoying loudmouth mary sue esque character who yells a lot and blushes when talked to for no particular reason. Doesnt really help that I have little to no understanding of basic grammar back then, overused comas, unnecessary emojis and that kind of stuff so just imagine the mess.

Ah yes, the first character. I remember it well. Iyo was mine and his first instance of use was in Yahoo chat rooms. Honestly wasn't a terrible character, but the refinement over the years has really helped make him better.

Initially he could use his magic to manipulate solids. Backstory was that he was the son of a noble family who had lost their status. His mother had been forced into a marriage (after their biological father passed) with a member of one of the other families. If I recall, his mother eventually cursed herself in order to waste away to avoid giving his step father access to some magical item/spell.

Still use him from time to time. The character is now an adult, got married (and divorced), and has a kid.

Ergh... thank God I can't remember the name but my first character was pretty bad.

The RP was a post apocalyptic world, similar to fallout and my character was caught in a subway station that got infected with radiation. Due to this he was scarred and had to make an IV cable to get blood transfussions off others cause he was dying of radiation poisoning.

I dunno what I was thinking, but it was not a good character. :\

Faye... Elf Ranger... ADnD... I was 6 years old and my cousin who was much older than me thought it would be funny to have a six year old trying to play DnD in his highschool Rp group when I was visiting my aunt. Special skill that a 6 year old comes up with for her? Oh she could burp, LOL God she was a horrible character and I played her ridiculously but hey I was 6!

I got hooked then and never looked back. That was over 3 decades ago and it all goes back to the one character. So major thanks to my cousin, ~burp~, it's all his fault!

The first character that I can remember right now (not really the 1st of all since play RPGs for a helluva long time), was an epic (and I don't mean just in level, but achievements) Dwarven Defender on good ol' D&D 3.5. That character was a wild ride but one that I enjoyed from start to finish of the game because of how much the RNG favored me on that campaign.

Here on the Guild, my first was poor Kotori Tsubasa, for Toybox Memories. I still remember that character fondly, even if she was also the first one of them to taste the reality that Forum RPs tend to never go anywhere. still, she was a good character, very rough around he edges, but good notheless.

My first character came from a Facebook Harry Potter RP group. Her name was Jade Abney and she was the kid of Death Eaters, with her parents wanting her to follow in their footsteps. The RP group had confusing as hell timelines and she ended up being the adopted kid of George Weasley, but was eventually sent to live with Harry and his kids. All while George was somehow still attending Hogwarts. From what I remember, she was your typical edgy Slytherin that didn't want to be evil type. She was incredibly cringe worthy but hey...I was in eighth grade. Was to be expected lol.

Her character concept has gone through loads of refinement and reworking throughout the years, now play her as Jade Cornish, a detective haunted by her past. Still a bit of a trope, but not nearly as cringe worthy as she used to be.

My first roleplay character... haha... Was Riolu. Yes, the Pokémon. No specific name, just Riolu.

We were a group of Pokémon on a quest. I don't remember all the details. I remember we had to save a small Pokémon from an evil Arcanine or so, and there was a giant Snorlax who blocked the way to the cave. I played Riolu as somewhat of a guardian, who was very intent on keeping the rest safe and being a moral support. He wasn't a leader, was unsure if he was good enough to defend them all and often was clumsy or took things way too personally, but he did his best to keep them safe.

Flaws? Weeeeeeeell. He had no story at all. That wasn't really part of the roleplay. Just pick a Pokémon, get your moves and stats, get put together in a group with no real reason to it, here's a quest, off on an adventure. So of course, there was no connection to the other characters or story-events. We just did that one session and hah. He got to Quick-Attack the Arcanine. That's the only thing I actually remember him doing.

It's slightly hard to fault him due to the circumstances of his creation. He was a test-run, so to say. Despite this, I got myself a fairly solid understanding of his personality. A wannabe guardian that is unsure of his ability, but wanting to do his best regardless. Ya. I still like him, and remember him fondly. Haha.

My very first RP wasn't on here, but on something called Dragon Cave Forums. I took part in a RP where you could play dragons, the people who hunted them, or the people who helped them.

My character's name was Stardust, a girl who could actually turn INTO a dragon. I have no idea why the GM let it slide, but she was your typical mary-sue that was also somehow a death god. It was there when the GM told me to cut it off. The only thing I remember about her was that some experienced hunter that was going after her and that she had a crush on a human.

My first RP character was an army sniper who had a thing for butterfly knives in a zombie apocalypse. Somewhat bland but at the end of the RP he turned into a super zombie and attacked the party.

Honestly, I've had too many to remember properly... the earliest I can recall was the old servant of a dragon (my second :p). Calm, loyal, and... not much else. :p

I've had a good amount of characters come and go, but my first one came from way back in '10 or '11 when I used to stalk the Warrior Cats forums. Her name was Kayla Quietwhisper and she was your typical self-insert 'RUNDUHM LULZ' character, just one harem away from being a Mary-Sue. Her personality was so off the walls contradictory and she had your typical tragic backstory that basically boiled down to "Life was hard". No specifics. Just "Life was hard". Still, I loved her and used her as much as I could.

First character I ever played in a actual roleplay setting was Pang Tong (The Fledgling Phoenix). I became a rather large guy on campus for the roleplay at one point. Infamous rather than famous I would say but I had my moments. I was at one point outnumbered 5 to 30 or so and even with a traitor in my midst I held out in a 'simulated' battle castle siege before losing and rather then giving my enemies the satisfaction of my capture I had him order his own archers execute him and then take their own lives. However in retrospective I hated my time there for various reasons. My first OC if that's what you're aiming for was a rather piss poor character named Darth Sesontor or something along those lines. He eventually died out when the rp he was in got rebooted. He was replaced by a jedi who is now my name sake because I used the name 'Vance' then onward as a alias for my real name online.
