@BoyMom035You can build your characters around them. For instance, you'd need a magic user to be the First Mage. And you'd need a seasoned sailor, or at least someone who is used to sailing and navigation to be the navigator. Though whoever wants to make the Captain needs to, in story, have had everyone else vote for them. Since that was how Captains were made in historical pirate ships, so whoever wants the Captaincy needs to announce it, then make a character that is plausible for it enough to where the other characters would at least not mind it.

Ok everyone.

Here is how it is going to be. I'm going to have the Quartermaster, who is essentially the 2nd in command. I was thinking of being the Captain, but I want someone here to take that position, and have the others vying for said position. The Quartermaster is usually the mediator between the captain and the crew and on a pirate ship is essentially the first mate, and one whom everyone trusts. So it'll be a very good place for me to GM.
I'll also have a few NPCS. Most notably, other than the Quartermaster, I'll have a Dwarven shipwright, Engineer, and Master Gunner.

So, while I don't want people to go crazy for ideas just yet. These are the ship positions that need filled.

• Captain
• Head Mage
• Boatswain
• Surgeon/Healer
• Navigator/Sailing Master
• Sailor
• Sailor

I'll make a more comprehensive list of their actual duties in the OOC. But just letting you know what is going to be available. As you can also see, this means 7 people is the maximum, and I'd be more comfortable with 6. So I will be judging character sheets, and not everyone will make this.

I'm throwing my hat in the ring as well as stating the intent to play the mage. I envision a character that knows how to create a good fog that helps them and hinders the enemy, instead of some fireball blasting fool that just tries to replicate the gun deck's function. I also considered the idea of a more shamanistic bent and an affinity for sea birds to assist with divining the location of the quarry. I have definite ideas and will have something up very ASAPly when the character sheet template is up.
