So you're telling me, that with 1k$ you can build a comp that plays all top tier triple quadruple and quintuple AAA/AAAA and AAAAA games in the next 10 years?

Yes, at 1080p/ultra for at least 4-5 years, 1080p/high for at least 10, and if anything trips it up at 10 years, it'll easily be able to take medium. The only thing that could break that is upscaling way too far, playing everything at 4K or higher, or using future unreleased VR headsets that for some reason have stupid high requirements.

So Sonic Mania at least redid the sprites but it literally uses levels from Sonic 2 again, AND the same bonus stage system. So far the only really good thing from it is that it has a story canon.

The point of the redone levels was to call back to older Sonics, whereas Mania 2 will probably be only brand new stages. But they remixed the old levels instead of just ripping them; it has levels from Sonic 1 and 3 as well because it's a tribute game as well as its own title. The bonus stage system for chaos emeralds is brand new and inspired by Sonic CD's 3D grapics, whereas the 50 rings checkpoint bonus is Blue Sphere because Blue Sphere is literally the best of the original 3 emerald stages. It's also a ton of fun (and there are thousands of blue sphere stages that can be played on the original cartridges). Things that are really good include polished controls, beautiful graphics, awesome new stages, fun bonuses, and nostalgia factor that blows Generations out of the water. It's also just a better game since the controls are so tight and it adheres to the formula that made the original games so successful (that you don't like for some reason). Even Arin said Mania was fun and he doesn't like Sonic at all. It seems like you're just looking for reasons to blindly dislike 2D Sonic when in all cases, it's revered far more than 3D Sonic ever has been.

Also, choose a case out of the list on the previous page.

Pretty sure Mania was originally a fan game they made canon, so that would give you literally no standing ground, and Arin says lots of shit about Sonic, including that he likes Unleashed even though he's playing the wii version. Tight controls on a 2d sonic game aren't something new, the Advance games had really good controls. And Mania 2? The idea that they're already planning a sequel speaks against it's quality and in favor of it being a nostalgia cash grab. Yeah the orbs might have been the best of the originals but why is it not something new and BETTER than those three horrible minigames? It's revered more because people have nostalgia for it and most 3d games were either buggy or never given a full chance because people just wanted more 2d games. The best 2d sonic games are fan made or not sonic games. Generations shouldn't have happened because it ruined so many things to the different lines of canon and really just rehashed older games, like Mania is doing at least in part. I don't like 2d Sonic when it isn't able to stand on it's own, which it hasn't been able to since Advance 2, and THAT had such cheaply done spritework that if you weren't speedrunning it would become noticeable and distracting. Sonic 4's biggest problem was that it was in two parts.

Your facts are incorrect. It was built from the ground up by a team comprised of people who originally made fan games and were really good at it.
Advance games are super mediocre.
Mania 2 is what everyone is asking for and not confirmed. But everything in business is a cash grab; that's how it works. And that's fine, because Mania 2 is as much a cash grab as Sonic 2 was. If you have something that works, make more.
I enjoyed the orbs. But they did do something new and better; that's why you have the emerald race now. The orbs are just for bonus points and whatever those medals are.
3D games were very buggy, but it's not that they weren't given a chance. People love the Sonic Adventure games because they're quality games. But then Sega started putting stupid time caps on Sonic games and ruined them with low quality, rushed products. It's not to say that they can't—Generations and Colors we're both great games (although in a way used 2D as a crutch), so it proves they can do it. But with modern 3D games, they just end up with Boost gameplay, which is getting to the point of becoming boost to win.
Eh, S3&K is better than almost all fan games. You have a point, but that highlights how fans are so sick of Sega not doing their job, they're willing to do it for them. Some of the best 3D Sonic games are fanmade too, so that says something more about fans than the inherent quality of the games.
The Sonic canon has never been consistent. It doesn't need to be; just have distinct lines of canon (or none outside of each individual game if it's that hard).
They haven't even done standalone 2D since the Advance games, unless you count Colors DS, which was also fantastic—it's 3D games that rely on 2D for bonus points and not the other way around. There's also a reason for that—Boost has you going so fast they literally cannot model a full 10 hour game in any reasonable time period; that's why Forces is doing the same thing (which I agree is kind of annoying since 2D Sonic and 3D Sonic don't mesh that well, in gameplay or as characters). My problem with the Advance games is how much looser the controls are compared to the Genesis games.
Sonic 4 was trash, no argument there for 2D. Mania's erasing that from the continuation of the main line to become the true sequel to S3&K anyway. S4 has no controls to speak of and the slowest gameplay.

The Adventure games WEREN'T quality games. They had quality levels.
Noooo way. And Knuckles is horrid if you compare it to some of the fan games out there. The best part about it was the Hyper Emeralds and even then the game doesn't hold any better than most fan games.
4, Rush, Rush Adventure, Rivals, Rivals 2... They've already re-released the first X games twenty times for every system available, they don't need to rehash them again in Mania when they could be going forward. Literally the only excuse is that it seems to be plot-sensitive instead of just "oh we're going back here cause nostalgia!"
There WERE distinct lines of canon until Generations fucked it up by trying to cross them, that's the point.
The slowest gameplay have you PLAYED 2? The first three thousand hours are slow as fuck until you memorize speed run strats. They would be better off making a new Chronicles game than revisiting the first three games over and over. At least then the game worlds would expand some.
WHY THE FUCK IS FORCES MELTING 2D INTO A 3D GAME AGAIN THERE IS NO EXCUSE THEY'VE ALREADY PLACATED THE PEOPLE ONLY INTERESTED IN SPEEDRUNNING MARIO WITH MANIA

The only terrible part of Adventure was the voice acting/modeling. I even love the overworld of Adventure 1.
"Most" fan games is a stretch. There are a ton and only a few high quality ones. We may have to just chalk this up to opinion because S3&K is pretty beloved by many people (even disregarding nostalgia) whereas the fan games aren't to that extent.
No, I agree, it's absolutely nostalgia. Mania is designed as a tribute game to reopen the world of 2D Genesis-Era Sonic. A Sonic Genesis Remix +, if you will. And according to reviews, the remixed levels is one of the only complaints about the game.
I'm not disagreeing with you? Forces is retconning Generations anyway by making the games separate dimensions instead of separate timelines anyway.
Have you played 2? Emerald Hill, Chemical Plant, Oil Ocean, Casino Night, Hilltop? Those are all fast stages right off the top of my head. You have stages like Metropolis and Aquatic Ruin that are a bit slower than the others and maybe Hilltop if you want to count that. They're all medium to high speed, though. Mystic Cave is pretty much the only "slow" stage in Sonic 2 unless you want the little segment where you ride on Tails' plane.
I agree that it's probably not the best route going forward, but you're also downplaying the Genesis-era fanbase. It's a lot larger than you seem to think, and probably the majority of players.

I can't. lame, I know
I know all the movements; I just haven't tried it in ages until very lately, since I've been going to a bunch of pool parties with the youth group. I managed to swim from the deep end to the shallow end, but I expend far more energy than necessary and can't hold my breath properly. Panicking doesn't help, but I'm dealing with that quickly.
