Thanks for the clarification.

My idea is that his grandmother told him to run from the Academy recruitment due to losing her husband to the war. He initially did so leading to some time period (I'm flexible on how long that could realistically be) where he manifested his power and was brought into the Academy. He went around doing some petty thefts after that at which point some shady guy would have tried to recruit him to something. Only due to hearing about the myth would he have guessed its related to Daemons.

I want him to be a trouble maker but certainly not a bad person. He is conflicted between was he was told about the war as he grew up and the harsh reality of it that he learns from class. Rebel without a cause type of deal

Edit: He would have gifts around wind and flying so he is a bit harder to catch if that helps. Also he would be in his second year so I plan for him to be more calmed down than what he would have been in his first. I don't want to be disruptive to the RP or anything, just have him be teen rebellious like stay out past curfew and things like that

Thanks, I'll try to have something written up in a couple of days. I do have a few questions that I didn't pick up from my reading of the OOC and just want to confirm.

- Is being a Mystic a genetic thing/are you more likely to be a Mystic is a family member was one? Would you be likely to have a similar ability as them?
- While it is implied, is the academy a floating sky island? How much of the world consists of those?

My idea with the character is that he didn't sign up for about a year after his gift manifested. During that time he went on a spree of incredibly petty theft and all around being a public nuisance. During which time he did try getting recruited by a Daemon, but he rejected them.

- would be possible? I imagine there are some parts of the world where the Academy reach doesn't go as far and the Daemon academy tends to find more recruits?

- Would petty theft constitute someone being regarded as a Daemon. Because I would like to avoid that?

Sorry it's a lot of questions lol. Just wanting to make sure some of my core ideas are okay before I write up my concept.

Hello,

1. Being a Mystic is a mutation and random, though sometimes it is hereditary, as a family with several Mystics has a greater chance of passing down that gene or even the same power. But there's no guarantee.

2. All the islands in this world are floating in the sky, called Sky Islands. So yes, the Academy sits upon a sky island, as does every other place in this world. There are no islands down below. The only thing down below is a vast endless ocean.

3. You don't sign up for the Academy. It is compulsory. Once your gift manifests (for most people, that's in adolescence), you are required to attend the Academy for 8 hours. It is mandatory, so you can't delay it. The label of Daemon is only given to Mystics who use their gifts to commit really evil/treasonous acts. Petty theft would not get you classified as a Daemon, but it might get you sent to a juvenile facility until your gift manifested, at which point, you'd be sent to Harold's Academy. But your character can't be a Daemon anyways, just a regular Mystic. Your character is still a teen, so if they committed petty theft in the past, they wouldn't be labeled a Daemon, though the Headmistress would likely know about their past and make provisions. Some teens come from troubled pasts, so I'm not against the idea of a character who used to steal. And yes, the Academy reaches most, but not every part of the world. But be mindful that the Academy's influence is very far-reaching, especially as it has the backing of Parliament. Very few parts of the world are out of their reach. It is possible, though, that when their gift manifested, a Daemon tried to recruit them, but they rejected it. Although in this world, there is no guarantee that Daemon academies even exist. It is considered a myth.

Let's just be thoughtful not to create a character that causes trouble just for the sake of causing trouble. Create a character with nuances -- whose troubled past may explain why they are the way they are, but it shouldn't dictate everything that they do. This means, try to avoid creating sociopaths or psychopaths, as it just doesn't add much other than bottomless friction for the cast, with little room for nuanced character development. But yes,

After consulting with the players (who spoke favorably of you), I've decided you can create an application for this roleplay, but ONLY under the condition that your character has to be male. I can't make any exceptions to this requirement, as our cast is overwhelmingly female and needs a little more balance in this regard. Beatrix has snow white hair that can be tied into a braid that rests on one of her shoulders. her eye colour is a nice silver, sometimes she'll wear glasses when she is reading. She doesn't have any scars. A piercing in her left ear, she also has a pendant that she hides under her grey shirt. Wearing a black coat that covers her arm and goes just past her waist. For her bottom half, she wears simple dark trousers, they don't restrict her movements, on her feet she wears simple shoes with a little bit of a heel on them.

Beatrix is a ball of energy; seems that she can pass on her energetic nature on to a few people. Sometimes it doesn't work, so she tries not to force it on people as they could find her annoying and it could result in them not liking her, so she keeps it in check. She's very passionate about her hobbies; one of them, in fact, is reading fantasy stories. The thrill of adventure and learning new things is very exciting to her. She often dreams about her own adventures and writes them down in order to make a book out of it. She enjoys playing piano. She's about just over average level in skill for it, but it doesn't stop her from smiling.

When meeting new people, she'll give them a fair enough chance to see what kind of person they are. She enjoys spending time with her best friend, her Cait, Ayla.

Born to Rikard and Sarah. She is the only daughter, however, she is the youngest child, with her brother a few years older. They lived a very normal life. Rikard was well known for his power of Lightning that both his children had. However, Sarah didn't have any magic. But it didn't change anything as their family members were all special and were all equal.

It wasn't until years later when Rikard and Sarah got divorced; they just didn't see each other as the marriage lost its spark. They tried to recapture the spark that they had, but it was unsuccessful. So they separated but kept in contact since they wanted to make it work, and it did. For her birthday, Beatrix got a pet cait that Rikard named Ayla, after one of his friends when he was younger. Sadly Sarah fell ill; Rikard, Beatrix, and her brother took care of her, hoping that she would get better. Months later, she died.

After that, Beatrix would help around the house if needed, and it seems that Sarah's death hit Rikard the most as he went on multiple dates, flirting with women. At first, Beatrix couldn't understand, then thought maybe it was just him trying to cope. She'd often get embarrassed about it, but after a while, she got used to it. Her brother left home a year later in search of magical knowledge at an Academy. Then Beatrix applied for an Academy too, she was so nervous about it at first, but her father managed to coach her through it.

◈ R e p u t a t i o n
Beatrix used to be a little bit of a prankster, giving people static shocks as little jokes. Mostly as an attempt to fit in, but there was no need for her to do since a few people were curious about her and her magic. The only reputation that she has at the moment is that she's the hyperactive lightning rod whose father is a bit of a pervert. She did get bullied about not having a mother, but since she punched a boy in the face, the insults stopped. Now she listens to her teachers and often enjoys small conversations with some of the other students; hopefully, some will become her friend.

◈ G o a l s
Beatrix wants to be the best Lighting Element user, even better than her father. The only competition that she knows of is her brother so she wants to better than him, but he has a head start. This wont stop her from trying. She wants to have both her Father and her brother proud of her. After graduation she'll more likely travel some more, go on more adventures, maybe even write books on them, maybe evem publish them, so when she's older she can remember the good times she's had.

Rikard Grye (Father) when he wasn't perving on women he was teaching her the basics on using her magic until she was able to learn more advanced things, so he managed to help get into a school that would help.

Beatrix has the power to manipulate as well as conjure Lightning. If Lightning magic is used against her, she can try to absorb some of it and apply to her own attack as a counter. Being able to use her element through her body she can move faster for a brief moment. Sometimes destruction isn't a thing so she can use low-level electrical magic to cause paralysis.

She still takes damage from absorbing someone's Lightning attack. It takes a lot of focus, so she needs to be careful when using her abilities and her emotions can affect it so a level head is key to using it. Is a constant lighting rod in Thunderstorms it doesn't hurt her that much but can be fatal to people who are near her.

At times Aurora can be a bit distant with new people.with people she knows she incredibly sweet to them, always wanting to talk to them or play her flute for them to help ease and be sociable, she tries to socialise with others, but it ends with mixed results, still she tries to talk to people, however her performance skill are far better than her social skills. If someone wants to know how to play the flute or learn how to dance she'll happily teach you.

◈ H i s t o r y
Aurora never knew who her parents were. She was found by a group of performers. At first they weren't willing to look after her, mostly travelling around all the time. Always on the move was not suitable for a small child. Eventually they found out that Aurora didn't have anyone else, they felt bad plus mixed with Aurora's persistence, so they took her with them. So she travelled with them.

Travelling around Aurora wanted to help them earn money by pulling her own weight. Unsure what they could have her do, they let her start off small with a Tambourine and a Flute. She'd spend days learning how to play them. She'd perform with the rest of the group while they danced, juggling as well as balancing acts. To Aurora, this group of 15 people were her life, her family. The woman who mostly looked after her, as well as gave her the lessons to play instruments, was the closest she had to a mother figure. Once older, Aurora started to learn how to dance. Learning to move to the rhythm, she was a bit clumsy at first but she picked it up. As she got older, she learnt most of what everyone else could do. Eventually she was helping with some acts as an extra. She loved every moment of it. She wasn't doing it for the fame she was making her family proud.

While performing an act with another, they were juggling batons back and forth to one another. It was at this point out of nowhere, one of the batons exploded, injuring Aurora's fellow performer. This somehow caused a chain reaction as the other batons were now scattered in the sudden incident, also exploded. This caused mass panic with the audience, a few people were hurt but the other performer was the only one who was hurt the most. It seemed that after some discussion and investigation it turned out Aurora had magic and accidentally used her magic on the batons which caused them to explode. Now there was a division in the group, some wanted Aurora to leave while others wanted her to stay.

◈ R e p u t a t i o n
Aurora had to be careful at first, in case she blew something up hurting someone. She did have accidents here and there but gladly no one was hurt. She tried to keep herself away from the other students until she was able to control her magic. She made a few friends, but preferably kept her distance. To people meeting her for the first time wouldn't be sure on why but they found out eventually. She'd often play her flute while dancing around the school her old habit still there at her very core, she'd get applause for her performances which made her happy.

She wants to make her family proud. Able to perform in big areas while mentioning her family so they'll have bigger crowds when they perform. Or get a stage that they don't need to travel everywhere, and are able to start a normal life settled down in one spot.

The only family she's really had was the group of performers that raised her. They all hold a very special place in her heart and she misses th all, especially her adopted mother.

Aurora has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy, thus “charging” that item with explosive results, The object can explode on its own, or she can click her fingers to make the object explode. She prefers to charge smaller objects, like playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for her to throw.

To apply more energy into an object requires more time to charge it. If she loses focus the object that is charged can detonate prematurely, it could hurt someone else. She can only pour her energy into inanimate objects, sadly it doesn't work against living things. She has to touch the object with her bare skin in order to charge it. Lastly objects can slowly start to lose their charge after a certain amount of time bigger objects lose their charge faster.

That made me consider that it could make sense for Manny's aeonheart to manifest itself more visually for her than others, since hers acts similarly to a symbiote rather than a traditional organ, given that it controls her magic automatically. Even her "consciously willing" to reincarnate is just sending Vitesse into it, activating the "interfered with" clause.

I did like the idea of wildly varying appearances, so if you don't think it'll be bothersome for people then I've went ahead and updated Manny's character sheet again.

Out of curiosity, are aeonhearts literal organs located in the same place for every mystic, or does its location vary from mystic to mystic? Since there are some people with two I imagine there's some degree of variance to it. Additionally, are there Earth animals as well as fantasy animals, or are all animals unique in this world? I've been assuming they would all be unique (and look forward to making plenty of new creatures for her incarnations), but specified her mark as a butterfly to represent the transformative rebirth aspect of the magic.

Okay. Just saw your changes. I think almost all mystics have their aeonhearts in the same place, side by side where hearts typically are in the chest. These are still humans at their core, after all, but the location of Manny's second aeonheart can be a biological anomaly unique to her. I mean, Raffaella's aeonhearts are conjoined, so it could just be an extremely rare thing that sometimes these kinds of medical anomalies/mutations occur with a Mystic's second aeonhearts - Rafaella and Manny being the only current recognizable examples of that.

And yes, there are both "Earth" animals and "Fantasy" animals unique to Lekë. When you have some unique animal transformation ideas, run them by me first so we can be sure they're a good fit for this world.

That's fine, I primarily had the changing appearance aspect as a reflection of her magic being (very) loosely based on reincarnation in Hinduism as opposed to say a phoenix's reincarnation. Possible hijinks were also on my mind, though I can see how drastically differing appearances could extend beyond just that into OOC annoyance. I've updated it so while it still changes, it has strong tendencies towards her old attributes so hopefully that will allow for the best of both worlds!

In regards to updating images, I prefer to keep things as upkeep-free as possible. Perhaps a good way would be just to update the one icon image above the CS in the characters tab as opposed to the three inside? It'd also be nice to have the finished image waiting before a reincarnation so I can base the new appearance on the image instead of the other way around, then get a new one for the next incarnation

Having to update the image may be tedious to keep up with on both sides, so if nothing else, you could just have a recognizable permanent mark on her face (or something equivalent) that is consistent no matter which form she takes. So people (and the players) familiar with Manny can be like, "Oh, that's just Manny" Whereas other people unfamiliar with her can be confused or tricked because they don't know her mark or key feature that people familiar with her do. That way, you can just describe her new form IC, but we will know its her automatically cause of this distinguishable "mark" or something to that avail.
