Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Warrior Island

Intro

"Where am I?" Everyone asks this question when they arrive. It's only natural...

You wake inside a white room — white floors, white walls, white ceiling. You wear nothing but a white hospital gown. Then a disembodied voice greets you. "Welcome warrior." A high pitched male or a low pitched female, it's hard to tell. "We are glad you have finally awoken. We hope you have rested well. Please don't be alarmed, you are safe." This is when most people feel inclined to ask questions or demand release, but for some unknown reason, you can't open your mouth. You are being forced to listen... or in some cases, watch a video of a shadowy person use sign language (in which case, you will find it impossible to close your eyes or turn your head).

This doesn't last too long though. Their explanation is brief and vague. You have been brought here because of your exceptional skills in battle. This is a place for warriors like yourself to live life as they see fit. "Have fun and do as you wish.". With nothing else to be said, one of the walls descends into the floor.

Before you is the inside of a building that resembles a modern day Earth's shopping mall, and a large one at that. Depending on the time period you came from, this may or may not be a shocking site. This would also be a great time for those with super human abilities to try an use them... only to find that they are gone. Or maybe you have a hidden gun inside your prosthetic arm... oh wait, no you don't, not anymore.

But you're not the only person here with a confused look on their face. The walkways are fairly empty, but there are a few others wearing white gowns like your own. Also, on occasion (maybe once every thirty minutes), you may see one of the walls between the shop entrances fall down to reveal another person in a white gown.

Speaking of shops, upon closer inspection, something is weird (as if this whole thing wasn't weird enough). Each shop is vastly different than the next. Some seem to have a medieval theme with swords and shields. While others have guns or even more advanced looking weaponry. Then their are also some that carry staffs and potions, as if ran by witches and wizards. There are hundreds of shops, each with their own unique theme, but all catered to some type of warrior.

The strangeness doesn't stop there. The glass door to every shop is closed and there are no doorknobs or places to push/pull. There is no obvious way to open them, at least not at first glance. It's not until you get close enough to one of these doors that the same voice from earlier will speak. "You may only enter one shop. You may not choose another. Is this your final choice? If so, step forward. If not, step back." Failing to move only causes this message to repeat.

Right about now, that pressing question is bound to be coming back into your mind, "Where am I?"...

Further Info.

My apologizes to anyone that got excited reading this. I will not be moving forward with this RP. I will however leave this thread, so that anyone may take this idea and run with it, should they feel inclined.
@Jerkchicken@rush99999@Torack@Ciaran

Hello there everyone!

I've been working on this RP today. Specifically, I have built THE MAP. I'll get the actual thread up Tuesday probably.
@rush99999@Jerkchicken

Okay, turns out I've received some unexpected tickets to an anime convention for the weekend. So I may not have this RP up as soon as I would have liked (busy having fun). But if I find the time between work and play, I'll get this RP up.

I haven't done any writing on it, but I have been thinking about it a lot, and it should be fun!
@Balthazar007

Sorry I haven't had time to post, just idk I haven't had to much motivation for writing

It's okay. I've stumbled across weekend tickets to an anime convention in my city. I'm in no rush at the moment. :)
@Jerkchicken@rush99999

Two interested individuals is enough to get started on this. I should be able to have a thread up sometime tomorrow. I'll tag you both when it's ready.
@Balthazar007 I just realized that the IC dates coincided with real life dates, kinda. Does it matter if I move my characters slowly through each day? Or would you prefer that I try to keep up with IRL dates?

That's pure coincidence. It doesn't matter. :)
The Premise

I'd like to propose a casual level RP that uses some very rudimentary dice rolling game mechanics. In short, players/writers would create a warrior(s) or choose one from actual history or fiction. I'm also not against players having multiple characters. I know I would be controlling various NPCs.

So basically, we have an antagonist that has brought together thousands of warriors from across space and time and trapped them on a giant island, complete with an invisible force field all around it. Everyone's power and equipment have been scaled down (and in some cases up) so that they are all on an even playing field (at least to start). The island is complete with different terrains as well as a few small settlements and one large city. Every single person that is on this island is a warrior, and some have been here for a LONG time.

In the middle of that city, there is a giant stadium. Warriors can battle there in order to earn money and jewels. Money is only for fluff (i.e. The more money you have, the more your character can buy things in and around the city. This includes buying a better house, eating fancy food, or obtaining new clothes.) The jewels however can actually be traded to increase your character's power (i.e. With jewels, you can buy weapons/equipment or magically enhance your power level.)

The story of this RP will be broken down into three easily understandable parts.
1) Arrival and Adjustment: This is where your characters will explore the island and learn about its already established culture. You can tackle this however you like. Maybe your character is thrilled to be here. Maybe your character is only looking for a way home. Maybe your character is taking it all in stride.
2) The Great Tournament: This is where the mysterious entity behind all of this will reveal themself. They will explain the rules of a grand tournament, the reason why they have brought everyone here. You can then choose to participate or try to rebel.
3) The War: Sometime during the tournament or shortly following, something will happen that will make this all powerful antagonist vulnerable to attack. Defeating the antagonist is the only way to go back home, but there are also those that have embraced life here that will fight on the antagonist's behalf. This creates two factions, and the real war can begin.

The formula for battling will be based off five things: your character's Power/Strength, Intelligence/Tact, Agility/Technique, Specialties/Affinities, and Weaknesses. I won't go into full detail with all this now. First I'd like to know if anyone is interested.

How about it?
@Balthazar007 So...do I just post the Pokemon I was going to have Forest run into over the course of my next few posts and you can do rolls to determine success? Or can we continue just writing as we were?

I'm flexible. It's whatever you prefer. Just let me know.

...“I’ll leave it to you then,” Dana said as the Meowstic came into view. Her Duskull slid into the ground as Dana walked towards the Meowstic, who finally looked over, sensing her approach. However, in looking at Dana, it failed to notice her Duskull until the ghost-type was poised to attack; her Duskull’s Confuse Ray hit square-on as the ghost-type drifted into view, readying its Shadow Sneak.

(Evolved Marshtomp > Swampert)
(Duskull — Confuse Ray > Meowstic, level 34, male)
(If Dana wins, she’ll throw a Pokeball)

Meowstic stumbled backward a bit in confusion but recovered quickly. In a fit of rage, he unleashed a nasty Psyshock as his counter attack. The attack came in so quickly that Duskull was unable to avoid it. Meowstic's ferocious tenacity would carry him through an otherwise even match-up. The end result...

Luxury Hotel in Mexico City...
It happened in the middle of the night. Cameras caught the whole thing...

The first sign of foul play was the hotel manager making a call to all staff in order to hold an emergency meeting, including security personnel. As if his order wasn't strange enough, many workers recount a slightly distant undertone to his voice, as if he wasn't all there in the head. When interviewed by the police later that night, the manager swore that he had no recollection of making any such request. In fact, he couldn't remember anything leading up to that moment.

Once everyone was gathered in the lobby, a fine mist like substance began to fill the air. One after the other, they all fainted. Not ten seconds after the last person fell to the ground, a figure in all black (including a ski mask) emerged from underneath the front desk. This person then ran to a side entrance to open a door. This allowed three more figures in all black to enter, but they were not alone. They were followed by several Rattatta and Zubat, as well as a few other Pokemon (namely: a Koffing, a Muk, and a couple Ekans). The first figure (the one who was already inside) then gave them all master keys to each room. Keys in hand, they ran off with pace and precision, followed by their Pokemon, while the first figure stayed behind with the sleeping hotel workers.

Over the course of the next thirty minutes, they ran the halls, each one of them carrying a large black bag. They would open the doors, allowing their Rattatta and Zubat to expertly scurry into and out of rooms. They did this until their bags were full. When finished, they ran back downstairs to meet up and make their escape. The last one out the door (the first perp) was followed by a Drowsey and a Gloom. He/she made sure to wave at the camera on the way out...
FYI: my next IC post will be up sometime tomorrow. I'm thinking by early afternoon (EDT).
