Current Euh. It's been a hot minute. Things are rather different for me now, and I don't know how that translates to my presence here.

I don't *think* I'm a bad person. I might be wrong there. I try not to be, even when I screw it up for want of social awareness.

Hello, I am me from the internet. I migrated here from Kongregate's Forum Games Forum, so feel free to look for me there if you wish to follow a career in internet stalking people. (ಠ_ಠ) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Infamous Quotes From People Who Exist

“I really don’t follow how your faith believes its perfectly acceptable to doom 4,000 years plus of sentient beings, on a pre-set path of no escape from sin, just so their descendants can be offered the ‘chance of salvation’ when the god murders its own son.”

“Don’t be an ass or a pussy, ’lest you get screwed by life. Being a mouth or a hand is somewhat safer, and an eye socket is pretty much sacred in this regard, so always keep a look out.”

Dirk Messir - Blargh

Dirk's eyes bulged as his stomech got... the opposite direction. He thought it would be blood that was out of my mouth, from my stomach being stabbed, but apparently they didn't go far enough in. They did hurt though.

See? Your so-called "Divine Purpose" is worthless. Didn't make a damn difference there.

No, Derek, it obviously means he needs to be the le shadows faster. If he isn't fast enough, we cannot get to the Divine Purpose. Also, fast is needed again, because there's about to be more punch.

You aren't strong enough to block a punch Idiot! How do you expect to block a punch Idiot!

Who's the idiot? I will got maybe his helmet, and would held it over his fist so that he before the he punch the punch gets into the helmet. When he punches, if the helmet was there got. Yes.

Doesn't even matter, because when the Captain told him to get out of the Blue grasp, that meant he needed to fight. So he did, and said 'Finger Pistol,' again in at his eyeballs. The weakpoint of the sea. Especially if the helmet of the sea was not covering the seaballs. The. Them.

I am shocked at how ineffective your tactics are.

My tactics are great, and my Divine Purpose is also great. Great enough to get me out of his grasp and back to where I need to be, probably, because that is how the Divine Purpose works forever and always.
Marxello Catchanale

Quiet... very quiet. Where was Bart? Where was Neil, for that matter? He supposed he couldn't expect them to remain there constantly, but it was getting pretty dark. In fact, the only other visibly-living being there was a winged figure on the roof, swooping into the building shortly afterward. A new member of the guild, or just a random winged monster seeking something?

It wasn't like he could leave her in there, anyway. She'd be obstructive... or worse. Either she had to come out, or he would have to go in after her. Non-lethally, of course, since he had the option. Drawing his weapon with one hand, Mark strode in through the front door, cautiously glancing round as he called out 'Hellooooo? Harpy lady? Come on out... I promise not to kill you, I'm not that sort of Hero... you just need to show yourself first, is all.' It was clear he wasn't being very persuasive, but it was also clear to him, as he began to climb the stairs to the upper floor, that she wasn't going to make an appearance until she could get the drop on him. That was almost always how it worked with monsters, especially those seeking a mate; he was more than ready for it, invoking the Sylph amplifying his reaction speed to account for the inevitable.
@TheWindel@KoL Yeah, no, I don't think I can keep playing this game anymore. There's a large combination of factors at play here, not all of which involve the GMs, but that last dismissive comment from KoL pretty much seals my opinion on both you and the game, and I don't see myself enjoying this to a greater extent in the future. @Banana, you can have control over Maceroy and Harvester; kill them off, turn them into NPCs, I don't care, but obviously give Harvester back to Spiffy if he wants control over him again. Maybe I'll see some of you around in other games; if you want to chat with me, add me on Discord, or just PM me on this site. Goodbye.
@KoL Yes, I know how math works. I understand the logistics behind exponential growth. I'll thank you not to patronise me as if I'm stupid. My problem isn't with understanding how the ability functions; it's why you the GMs think an ability that has an exponentially larger area of effect over time, with no extra energy input from the creator beyond the initial offering (and as Silvan points out, no stated method regarding how it gathers energy to grow in that exponential pattern), and which is on its own strong enough to kill every enemy PC, is not in any way "broken". Maybe it is technically legal by the game's rules, but for some reason, I highly doubt you'd let any bog-standard player have an ability which was anything like as devastating as Victoire's blood roses.

Moreover, there seems to be an assumption on your part that players should be forced to build their own characters in a manner that actually lets them counteract an ability like this, in particular to handle the manner in which it's deployed. The specific build they'd need involves... well, running it through my head, I'd say easily-repeated teleportation, some form of cleansing aura strong enough to erase all the roses in an area that may or may not be very small, a very wide-ranging detection ability that lets them sense demons and demonic constructs so that they know where Victoire and the roses are to begin with, and most likely abilities specialised toward countering Victoire's moves such as anti-teleportation. Those are all pretty specific powers, and lacking even one means the character cannot stop the roses alone, either because they lack the means to do so outright, or because to do so would involve metagaming that I can only imagine would be slapped down immediately; I could write up an example sheet for such a character, and it may be that a teleporter could gather a team of characters with those powers in tow, but at the end of the day, it's a lot of effort to go through to stop one character from winning every fight for their faction.

@Silvan Haven@Lonewolf685 Technically, Victoire is still in the game as a PC right now. And I am trying to be as civil as I can about this. I'm not flinging insults around or anything, merely voicing my thoughts.
@KoL@Silvan Haven I'm kind of inclined to agree with Silvan here, since you mentioned me specifically in your post. As far as I'm concerned, the numbers you put up could mean anything, and as Silvan says, the D&D version has a set radius which Victoire's seems to lack. Besides which, saying it's derived from D&D doesn't necessarily mean anything depending on how much it's been upscaled; if the flowers are strong enough that they literally grant victory once they manage to grow out far enough, there ought to be an associated, presumably extremely high energy cost that, so it seems, simply isn't there. One drop of blood can easily kill everybody within a hundred kilometers in minutes, and the way Victoire sets up means there's not a damn thing anybody can do to stop it. You understand why some people might have their concerns about something like that?
@Jbcool@Bright_Ops@Sophrus@Eisenhorn@Ollumhammersong@Lady Selune Another post finally made. If we're going to keep this going, now's the time to start posting again.
...with a sigh of mild anger - feigned of course, but nonetheless reflecting on his poor decision - Darran did not leave the building, but instead returned to his prior position next to the cat person, taking his turn to glance around the doorway as he readied his weapon. Warp forsake him if he actually cared about anybody still in the bar area, but from the looks of things, it seemed like most of the havoc had actually died down. Or been killed, rather. Which meant he could perhaps try to save somebody who needed saving, which would put them in his debt in the future. Maybe the robed man lying unconscious on the floor. That'd certainly be something to consider.

He asked himself again whether it'd even be worth it, if he got himself shot or worse arrested by the Arbites. Technically, his very presence in the bar was already criminal, but did that matter if he didn't get caught? Surveys said "not in the least", and if there weren't that many around... just five Arbites, two with shotguns, three with more standard weapons, and shockingly enough none covering their faces entirely… if he aimed for the shotgunners first, and got in good hits to take them out, he might have a chance.

'Cover me,' he murmured to the abhuman, not that he needed or wanted her covering fire. As he stepped out, his mods performed the same acts of analysis as they had previously, automatically boosting the speed of his thoughts to render everything in slow motion, and overlaying the aiming paths of each individual weapon in the field, that he might step through and around their firing paths with minimal fuss... and more importantly, so that he could aim the weapon he'd purchased properly, given that he lacked training.

The first shot taken by the foe was sidestepped fairly easily. As Darran raised his weapon and fired it, directly at the unguarded mouth of one of the Arbites, he ducked beneath another weapon’s firing arc, then rolled to get out of the path of a shotgun blast that threatened to pass over him. As he stood, he aimed and fired at the face of another Arbite, this one bearing a shotgun. That made two down and three to go, and those guys weren’t making it easy either.

Running across the room to find more sturdy cover behind the bar proper, he took aim at a third Arbite’s mouth, only to be forced to duck and cover as the other shotgunner took aim and fired, barely avoiding hitting him as he hid behind the bar. Bah, that was a bad position to be in. If he couldn’t see the weapons, he couldn’t figure out where they were going to aim, and even extending a mechadendrite might give away his position as he scuttled along the length of his hiding spot. Perhaps he would appreciate some covering fire after all, if only to force the guards to stop shooting for just a moment.

@Lmpkio Alright, my bad. I'll edit to account for your edits if I need to, though as stated, it seems unlikely that that's necessary.
Maceroy Falthon

“Ooh, looks like you’ve never met mister Grim Reaper,” she was saying, as if it were a valid point. Apparently, this woman was also uneducated; the scythe in the hands of the Grim Reaper was derived from the actual use of scythes as a metaphor for harvesting the dead, and the fact that fools like her managed to warp the image into “scythes are a great weapon” was annoying to the raven-like harpy. Helpful when facing off against such idiots, but ever so annoying.

Of course, the woman’s attempt at a backflip kick toward Maceroy’s hand was somewhat ruined by various factors, but it didn’t stop her from using his own magic-imbued talon as a point from which to flip away - albeit at the cost of destroying one of her shoes’ heels, which he figured would vastly reduce her mobility. Or maybe not, if most of the mechanism wasn’t based in the heel…?

In the meantime, it seemed the other harpy had for some reason saved Eve from taking too much harm from Utada’s projectiles, and subsequently avoided blinding by any form of flashbang attack. In turn, as Marie rocketed into the sky via the systems in her shoes- wait, when had she gotten a lance? There was nowhere for her to hide that… unless she had some ability to warp weapons in and away, the way HR-513 did? Or an extra-dimensional space to store them in… yes, either way, maybe his reality anchor would see more use than expected this day… the point was, he needed to go for her now, whilst she was distracted.

As she fired her grenades toward Utada, Maceroy took to the sky, the drill-body of the shock lance whirling at full speed and aimed in Marie’s direction as he sped towards her. Unfortunately, he was not fast enough to stop her from transforming her weapon and turning it in his direction. Fortunately, he also wasn’t fast enough to keep Eve from charging at the rocket-propelled human at full speed, and surely that’d do some damage on impact, not to mention hurling the demonically-aligned fighter bodily through the air and totally throwing off her aim - both the point of the lance itself, and whatever weapon she’d transformed it into to try and kill him.

That’s my girl.

With a brief moment of recalculation, another message rapidly sent to Utada - Darken your vision if you can. - and a powerful flapping of all four wings, Maceroy closed the gap between him and his foe, zig-zagging to try and avoid her shots, only to abruptly light up like an insanely bright flare for a fraction of a second once within five meters of her. Marie, and likely everybody else within fifty meters other than himself, would be utterly blinded by his release of light, and whilst it’d be very obvious to anybody else who so much as looked in that direction, the light would also be nearly as blinding for a good distance beyond its “effective” range, for obvious reasons; within the effective range proper, even covering one’s eyes would be useless, as the light would pass through or around any solid surfaces within that fifty meter radius to reach them regardless, exactly as it was designed to do. In theory, there was no plausible way for Marie to stop that, let alone shut it down, and whilst that wasn’t exactly great for Utada or Eve either- Eve especially, who was far less likely to have anything to protect her vision with- he didn’t want to risk the mercenary getting to aim toward him again. It'd take at least a moment for her vision to recover, and by then, it’d be too late.

Maceroy’s intent, speculative as it was, was not to spear the human straight-on, but instead to move to whichever side of the mercenary she was not flailing her weapon on- or at least whichever side Eve wasn’t ramming into- and so to pass his own weapon through Marie’s body diagonally sideways - with but one hand holding it, since in this case, his own momentum would keep it relatively steady, and the other was necessary to perform a second action as it dug through his pockets. In theory, the noise of the drill itself would make it seem as though his body was still directly ahead of her, such that even if she managed to aim toward him again, she’d still miss him completely; the angle of the weapon ought to minimise the chances of her parrying his strike, if she could muster herself to try and do so; and the speed at which it was spinning would make tearing her in half, or at least mostly in half, all too easy, not to mention the surge of searing electrical energy that would simultaneously pass through her body as he hit the switch on the lance. At worst, she’d be paralysed and helpless, able to be killed with contemptuous ease; if he was lucky, she’d instead be finished off by the attack almost immediately.

That is, if all went well. If not, he had a backup plan - given the chance, he'd draw his free hand from his robes and try to slap something on the small of her back, in a position that would make it very difficult to reach with her bare hands, never mind any objects of the wrong length. A fist-sized spherical object made of metal, with a bright blue LED glowing on its topside; if it made contact, it would extend a large number of mechanical tendrils out across Marie’s back, each covered in maniple hooked suckers to try to cling firmly to her clothing and body, like those of a mechanical colossal squid. She'd also experience a severe pain in her spine, like something drilling into it (beyond any actual drilling sensations, rather) - though the sensation would be indicative not of a physical drill, but a spiritual probe tying her to the physical world, negating her Hammerspace completely.

If everything went according to plan, the enemy would be dead or disabled shortly after the Flare went off, bisected and/or unable to pull forth new weaponry from the nether-regions of thin air by Maceroy's attack. If not, his new position would depend on what else had happened there. It'd only be a couple of moments until then, though... but who knew what could happen in that time?
